I found some nice pieces, then browsed the rest of the clothing area before moving to housewares. There I found a fantastic serving dish and some craft supplies. I head over to check out, where two nice ladies carefully package my finds and tell me that the last Friday of every month they have a 50% off everything sale. Oooh. Though I no longer actively collect -- I've downsized since selling my house -- I still look at items that interest me and rarely pass up a deal. Mad Hatter has beautiful pottery. (I've collected Hull and Roseville for 35+ years.) Several booths specialize in kitschy mid-century items which I find fun. I debated about purchasing the snack bowls I photographed, which my mom had in the 1950s. (Decided against it. Nostalgia didn't win out this time.) You can breeze through the mall or spend hours looking. Parking is easy, the staff is helpful and as said, if you're looking to build a collection, Mad Hatter is worth a visit.

The owners were engaging, and there was a great selection of many different types of items. It was bought out some years ago (maybe 6-7?) and has been going downhill steadily. Checked it out today. Arrived about 2pm and there was one other customer in there. Walked in and no one even recognized we were there. The entire time we were there the guy behind the counter was looking down at his phone; never said one word. After pretty much speeding through the shop I left, verbalizing to my shopping partner that I'd see him in the car. He said, "I'm ready too;" we've both been in customer service and were baiting him to at least say something. Finally as my shopping companion was leaving, he looked up for a split second; no words were spoken. The selection of goods is now very much on par with several of the other shops in the area (Pine Hill, Heritage, 272, etc.) with a lot of pressed glass, pottery/dishware, 60's-80's kitchen and newer collectibles. Very few oddities, true antiques, mechanicals, more interesting items. I doubt we'll return unless next time we're down here we've already visited every shop possible and they're still open. If you're a dealer here, they're doing nothing to welcome customers, engage with them, offer assistance, or even say "hi!" Look for space elsewhere.
