I enjoyed the pastie, and I'm kind of fussy about them. The ratios were good. The crust was good: not tough or hard, But thin and tender. Flavor and seasoning were delicious. I love the rutabaga in the mix. I think I prefer the potatoes sliced rather than chunk because the inside seems creamier, but that's really splitting hairs. My only real complaint is the size is small for a $7 pastie. This size I'd expect to pay about 5 or maybe 6. But, look at all I saved on gas not driving to the U. P. ; ). I don't mind the limited menu one bit. It's a perfect simple classic pastie. Do it well and you don't need more. I appreciated the FAST car window service. I don't think you could grab something faster through a drive through. You could grab a bag of these and feed a crew in minutes. read more

This is now Copper Country Pasties. Just re-opened. And just had a first pastie from them. A+ --------- Stopped in today for 16 more pasties, 8 for the in-laws in the UP who are driving through next week and asked for them, and 8 for my folks in Ohio who are Yoopers and agree they're awesome. I still have a stock frozen from my last visit. My grandma made these homemade in Marquette for half a century. These compare to hers. Awesome. She passed away last year, so this is my go-to now. We are so pleased this little Livonia shop keeps baking an old tradition. These are A+ in our opinion, but my folks and in-laws have been eating UP pasties for 80 years. Very small. The palm of a my hand size wise. Little on taste also. Where's the beef? I couldn't find hardly any. Plenty of potatoes though but ordered beef. I swear a few years ago this place was the best around? The old lady that works there wasn't in a good mood either. Bitter and talking down to my wife doesn't seem like great service. I'm by no means a pasty expert but these were really good! The day I went in they only had the beef but they also make chicken and vegetable pasties. The store front is carry out only and if it weren't for the signage you probably would never guess that they make scrumptious pasties on site. All the store has is a counter, a register, the menu board and a pop cooler. The gentleman running the store is friendly and obviously good at his profession. The pasties were warm, had a flaky/crispy crust and plenty of hearty veggies to compliment the beef. Also they weigh in at over a 1/2 pound each so one should set you just about right. I bought two for just under $10...money well spent! I'd recommend a side of the gravy for dipping FYI. Credit cards accepted too. read more

Stopped in for the first time today! I am so happy I did. The pasties are amazing! You can smell the freshness, the crust is delicious, and they are packed full of goodness. I got the beef that had carrots and potatoes in them, and a side of gravy. I will for sure be back soon, and will be picking up some of the frozen ones on my next visit! Once in a while in the mood for a pastie. Chicken is our favorite, but sold out the fastest. They will call you when they get in a shipment and put some aside if you request it. I do think more meat is needed,but we love them! read more

I can't understand how anyone can give this place more than three stars -- I had a very lackluster experience and wouldn't go back. I ordered a chicken pasty but they were all out. Then I asked for a veggie pasty, none of those either. A majority of the menu wasn't available, all that they had were standard beef pasties. Prices are high for what you get -- fairly small and not much flavor. Service wasn't very hospitable and the lady seemed very grumpy. read more

Wow, what has happened here is sad. I've been buying pasties at Weldon's for a long, long time, but no more. They used to be close to the size and quality of the good pastie shops from Minnesota to Michigan, but now they're closer to perogies than pasties. I bought three for dinner today and they all weigh less than 4 ounces. Under 4" in length and under 1 1/2" in height. I called to ask if I may have received a mini version of their pasties, but unfortunately, I was told that was their premier pasties..."and they're stuffed more than any other pastie!". I literally laughed out loud. Wow, again. I took pictures to show the size of them, and I won't keep harping because they taste good, but what a ripoff. One pastie is supposed to be a meal, not three. read more

Went here based on the online recommendations. Ordered a beef pasty. You'd think there would be beef inside a beef pasty, not the case. Potatoes and carrots and exactly 2 small pieces of beef. At some point, I'm sure this place was good, but those days are obviously behind them. Very disappointed in my first experience. read more

Good not great is how I would describe Weldons. More meat would be a bonus and it's under seasoned. Tasty but makes you think they're missing somthing. But hey it's in the middle of Livonia and not up in the U.P. so it is what it is ! Overall I'd buy it again and just have a salt and pepper shaker handy. Enjoy ! read more

Overall an ok pasty. However, these are very small in size and more expensive than other places around metro Detroit, about $5 a piece. I bought 3 pasties and everyone was overly loaded with potatoe and very little of anything else. The little meat that was inside was in one corner and there were a few carrots here and there. read more

These are awesome pasties. I grew up with eating pasties all my life and have had pasties from various places, but these are the best. After getting done eating them, I wanted more. I will keep this place in mind. I had really no idea what to do for dinner and stopped at Joe's Produce to see if anything that they had in their convenience meal counter would trigger something in my mind. I had remembered that Joe's Produce sometimes in the past had had pasties. But they didn't on this day and I asked if they ever offer them anymore. The lady said, not too much, but occasionally. Then she suggested this place. We were so happy to get such a good meal, and one that is very much what I grew up on. It was just delicious. read more
