As someone not native to MI, I thought it'd be fun to try this place out. I arrived around 3pm with absolutely no one, patronize-wise, in store. I proceeded to get the signature bun and Karak tea. Respectfully, neither are worth their price. My bun was burnt on the bottom and I questioned the hype the entire time I ate it. The tea was hot, too hot even, which is nice for a drive but the flavor was ehhh. I don't get the excitement for this place. If you're like me and in Michigan for a short time, pass this spot. Found this place a few years ago when looking for somewhere to meet up with friends. I've been back only a handful of times throughout these years and it NEVER MISSES!!! Always delicious!!! The interior is small and it gets pretty busy so depending on the day and time you may not find seating. I've not ran into this problem yet so do not let that deter you! They also usually have a good range of music playing at an acceptable volume. Prices seem a little much but portions are huge and again, VERY worth it! In the picture I order a Mona Lisa sans the banana and caramel sauce. They were out of vanilla and used strawberry icecream instead and it was still amazing! . TRY THIS PLACE!! I surely happy to find a place to get a coffee buns here in Michigan. The signature coffee buns deserve a four stars. It's surely delicious, buttery and fragrant with coffee flavor. It's similar to my favorite Roti Boy that I found in my home country. I've been coming back to this place whenever I'm in Michigan. Unfortunately, I'm disappointed with the service on my last two visits. On my previous visit, I wanted to order 6 buns, but only allowed me to order 4 signature buns and had to wait about 20 minutes. They told me to call and order ahead if I want 6 buns. On my next visit, I decided to call ahead and ordered 6 buns. I was told my order will be ready in 20 minutes. I came to pick up my order in a hour and 15 minutes after my call and was told that my order is not ready. I was told that I didn't come in 20 minutes after my call and now I had to wait 15 minutes. Seriously??? Also, apparently I can't redeem my rewards of Teri signature buns at the same day. I was only allowed to redeem one and had to come back on my next visit since they don't have enough buns. Well, as good as the buns is, I will not come back here due to poor customer service. This place is very unusual to me. I believe I found it randomly through my Instagram feed. I wasn't sure what to make of their desserts. They look like donuts but with no holes in the center and accompanied with various sweet toppings. To get a better idea of the brand, I took this excerpt directly from the cafe's website: "Papparoti first brought its unique and delicious snack concept to Malaysia in 2003. The brand's success was sealed thanks to the authentic and memorable taste of the coffee-coated buns accompanied with delicious beverages." Essentially they offer hot buns with coffee, tea, and fruit drinks. I'm impressed with what the menu offers and the one visit is not nearly enough to get a grasp of everything they offer, but it was good enough to want to come back for more. Puffy, fluffy cake. Mmm. I ordered nuts for Nutella sans whip cream. $7.94 for this bun cake. Their card reader isn't working at all. The staff has to manually put the card number in on their iPad. A bun takes about 10 minutes, they have a lot of online orders. They are quite busy, rather busy. Too busy to bus and clean the tables. We bussed our own table and used a semi-clean napkin and the hand sanitizer to clean off the table. It's a big fluffy airy bun cake. The Nutella, hazelnuts and banana are nice accompaniments for sure. It had a nice crunchy outside exterior and soft and billowy inside. The outside reminds me a bit of the macaron, not as smooth of a texture, but the crusty outside as you bit into it's surprisingly chewy and giving insides. read more

I really love this bakery and coffee/tea shop! I've visited a few times last summer and have always had a good experience. I don't know what they are putting in their coffee buns, but the aroma itself will have you wanting to buy several of them! They all come with different toppings depending on what you order. Now, I definitely need to try some more items because of the three times I've visited, I've only tried one item, the Mona Lisa! It tastes great + who doesn't love strawberries, bananas and chocolate. Now I wouldn't come here expecting a quiet coffee shop because whenever I've visited this location, there were several conversations going on and you can hear every detail of each of them, so I wouldn't come here to study or anything. The staff are super nice and don't mind explaining anything for you if you need any help so you don't feel any pressure if you have no idea what to order. They have an app and coupons, although I've never used either of them. I do think it's a great extra they provide. I'll definitely try the "Nutz for Nutella" bun soon! Paparoti is our family's favorite spot in the Farmington area. It's clean store with a decent ambience. This Malaysian chain has nearly 450 stores world wide. Nice little place with a variety. Ordered Mono Lisa and Icloud, both were perfectly done and tasted wonderful. Mono Lisa is our family favorite and we get it every time we go. This is our regular spot and the taste has been consistently good always. We love their buns, super soft inside and crispy exterior crust. Its always fresh and hot as they prepare only after you place the order. As it's prepared fresh, be prepared to wait for your order. I have always seen this store being very busy. I am not big fan of tea but have heard their signature Karak tea with cardamom is really good. Good service. We always stop by when we are in that area. Aahar, famous Indian restaurant and Indian grocery are near this place so its almost busy, especially during the weekends. Shared parking space. I discovered Papparoti from the Detroit Yelp IG so shout out! I've had something similar to this in SoCal almost 10 years ago but PappaRoti's bun is even better. The signature bun is basically a beautiful piece of carb that has a hint of coffee flavor. The CONTRAST of texture and flavors is what makes it stand out. The texture -- there's a light crispy layer at the top which is a nice contrast to the soft, fluffy inside! The flavor -- it's a sweet bun but there's a pat of salted butter which is a beautiful bit of sweet & salty! I ordered the signature combo which came with Karak Tea (aromatic indian spices and herbs combined with condensed milk, cardamom and premium quality saffron). If you love chai, you'll love this too! In Michigan, it's difficult to find a dessert place that isn't ice cream or donuts. Thankfully, we have had a surge of frozen yogurt as well. Papparoti was just sort of a place that I discovered through tireless Yelp searching. After dinner on weekends, I tend to crave dessert. I always look for something delicious and unique. When I used to live in Southern California, there was always a new, unique, and more often than not, delicious dessert place I haven't tried yet. I always struggle to find that sort of place here in Michigan. Thankfully, Papparoti just opened up about 5 months ago, at least according to one of the employees. The bread they serve started with a small family in Malaysia, when a mom decided to make a different version of Roti Buns. And omg did it pay off. The outside is this crispy, crunchy texture with coffee and caramel. In the inside is so warm, soft, fluffy, and creamy. The inside has this delicious custard inside! I decided to be really basic and get the PB & J (had too much sugar that day). However, I highly recommend getting the Mona Lisa. It comes with ice cream on top, a banana, a sliced strawberry, whip cream, and the way all of those flavors and textures blend is just perfection. Pair the buns with a nice cup of tea and it's absolutely sublime. Everything is made fresh to order, so there is a little bit of a wait. But trust me, it's well worth it. read more

I came here because I really wanted some strong tea and a snack. On their website they have a special which is Karak tea (chai) and a signature bun for $5-$6 but when I went there the sign said it was only for coffee and on weekdays only. I got a medium karak and the signature bun to go. I paid full price for each since it wasn't a part of the deal. I think the total was close to $11. I waited a few minutes while they warmed up the bun to order. The bun is slightly sweet and buttery. The crunchy coating makes it more interesting to eat. The tea was strong and flavorful, slightly sweet. It's like a proper Indian chai. The cafe itself it's fairly small. There was another person there working on their laptop but I'm not sure if I personally could set up shop there to do some laptop work just because the music was fairly loud. So Paparoti is a Malaysian franchise that is independently owned. A cool concept. We went during Quarantine so we couldn't go inside. We called to make an order. We ordered the malted chai, two orders of regular tea and honey Papa. They were very busy with orders. We did communicate we would be outside. Time passes by and while we were right outside they did not get to us. Called after 20 mins, they had our order ready. It was a miscommunication it is custom that people call to pick up. The tea was very good and flavorfull if your into spice chai then this is really your cup of tea. It was a little sweet for my taste especially with the sugar but I could appreciate all the spices. The Papa was the star though just by itself it was great. Light and fluffy with a hint of coffee. They do have other options like Nutella and whipped creme but honestly it's all about the Papa. The staff weren't the most friendly, we walked in 45 minutes before close and we were told dine in was closed but we could do carry out but when the owner over heard me say "let's just go elsewhere" he changed his mind and let us dine in. I've come a couple times and have had mixed experiences, but overall, very positive! The first time I came in the middle of the week during the afternoon. They were making the buns fresh and omgosh it was so delicious!! I ordered the signature combo with the bun and karat tea. The bun was crunchy and had a slight coffee flavor on the outside and was soft and buttery on the inside. The tea was AMAZING. So much flavor and it pair perfectly with the bun. The staff was super friendly and very passionate about the company and their products. I ordered a Good Morning Kaya to take home to the hubby. He couldn't taste any coconut flavor which was disappointing. The second time SC and I swung by on a weekend night. The place was pretty packed (we snagged the second to last table!). I ordered the signature combo again and SC ordered the Basca-Bun. My bun this time was definitely not fresh and was a bit overbaked- the texture and flavor wasn't the same. Ventured here per suggestion of a friend and am happy to report this place is great for tea lovers! While not spacious it's obvious that customers love to come here with family and friends to have some tea and eat a signature bun "naked" or with extra toppings. This is just one of the many locations that they have worldwide. The signature bun has butter and is flaky on the inside - there is a coffee icing baked into the outside- so it has a nice firm crust. This bun is delicious as it is and they also offer it with a variety of toppings. They have a custom tea mixed with milk and sugar which is good- no substitutions though as it is premade. They have a variety of tea drinks available though. (And coffee.) they do have almond milk available for those non dairy folks. I kind of stopped writing reviews, but when I find somewhere that's so amazing, I need to share! So I ordered their Signature Combo which I think if you haven't been here yet and love tea, this is the way to go. This way you can taste the buns true self and honestly you're going to come back and try something else because they do have all these amazing different ways of eating them with toppings and sauces. Ok so back to what I ordered The Signature Combo which was a Signature Bun with Karak Tea. The bun tastes exactly like the description they give. Crisp & crunchy caramel coffee on the outside. Soft, buttery and rich in the inside. So amazingly delicious! The Karak Tea was hot and it's description is Indian spices & herbs combined with whole milk. Cardamom & premium quality saffron. Such a treat on a cold day! My daughter ordered the Signature Bun with Strawberry Jam and a Chocolate Milkshake. I tasted the milkshake and it was delicious! They also have other tea drinks, coffee drinks, Pappauccino (ice blended), smoothies, milkshakes and fresh juices. The possible owner and chef was very friendly & I'm going to call him chef because I did witnessed him pipping a sauce on top of some buns. Truly a hidden gem- Papparoti is an international chain that is known for their incredibly delicious sweet buns. I merely stumbled upon it from a food instagram account and come to find out, the only location in the US so far is here in Michigan. We went on a Sunday evening and they were definitely busy, which makes sense since the buns are amazing. They are so unassuming and simple looking, yet perfectly fluffy, featuring a sweet and salty dough flavor on the inside, covered in this perfect sugary crust. I honestly don't know how to describe this well aside from the fact that they are delicious. We got the "Mona Lisa" version that was topped with chocolate and caramel drizzles, strawberries, Banana, whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect to split between two people. We also got a cup of their Karak Tea which was a really soothing, milky chai tea. It was a perfect cap to the weekend. Above all, despite how busy it was, I was really appreciative of how kind the entire staff was. There were a lot of people, and the inside of this place was pretty warm as they were baking fresh buns, but they were attentive to every guest and every one of their requests. They asked us to join their system and setup yeh rewards. I have 45 points - based on which I I should get a free karak chai / 1 signature bun. They agreed they could see the same on their system but couldn't give it to me. They told me It's not my fault but there's nothing they could do to accommodate me.
