New Updated Review Over 50 years I've eaten this Copper miner's lunch treat from the early 1800's. A Yooper Cornish traditional lunch carried deep into the mines. I've visited many dozen Pasty Shops around Michigan and each is different. They all good to me belly, only way to eat with Gravy or Ketchup. They are always seasoned with salt and pepper only and served with ketchup or gravy. (The ketchup-versus-gravy option I like both . Never ever do they put Gravy inside the Pasty as the person that left a negative Yelp review. I've been a customer over 20 years to this little shop on Northline between Fort and Dix for a very good reason. Great prices, friendly service and fantastic Pasty. So they make the pasty's no gravy inside very dry not good quality I ordered like 10 for work I brought them in didn't know they needed gravy till I cut mine in half pack my lunch so I drove back up there asked for gravy again lady was rude said yep I pitched it all gravy I have no more she's rude older lady my fiancé said she was rude him too the owners not so friendly the prices are fair but better off buying a Marie calendar pot pie in frozen section grocery store or go go Kfc they have good pot pies I do not recommend these dry as dry pasties I won't be back here ever again read more

I am not a pasty expert. This was the second time I tried a pasty and it was pretty good although to me it seemed a little under salted or bland. If you don't know what a pasty is, it's like a savory hand pie with veggies and/or meat in it. It's like an empanada. I had the steak and rutabaga pasty and the broccoli, cheese, chicken pasty. The crust was the highlight. It's so flaky in a good way. They were both very warm when I got them and once you get to those potatoes, wow! So good! My complaints: 1. They're not friendly: The lady who worked there was very cold. Maybe it was just a bad day for her but whenever I asked a question, she just seemed annoyed. She didn't even say hi or anything too. 2. Not everything is handmade: The gravy they sell on the side is not homemade, but rather from a packet. (I asked after she asked if I wanted gravy). 3. Food safety concern: The lady was mixing raw meat with her hands in a bowl when I came to pick up my preordered pasty. She didn't wash her hands but rubbed them on her apron and then touched the paper bag with my order in it and handed it to me. Heads up: they do not have many flavors prepared and ready to go. Most of them you'll have to place your order an hour beforehand, which is a good thing in a way because that means they make them fresh. read more

It's been a little bit since I've been in....I love the fact that you can custom create your pasties.....I'm not a big fan of lots of carrot, so they'll adjust to your taste if you call ahead. They did have the most amazing apricot Kiflie there.....a bit on the pricey side, but the best I've ever had, (if they've kept the recipe the same as when they started). read more

Great fresh food made each day by hand. They can sell out of the got ready made ones at anytime. I buy frozen for home and finish them off AT 350 for 15 to 20 min. Family owned business with authentic UP taste, maybe better. read more

I have enjoyed the pasties here every time. Very clean out in the open open shop. You can customize your pasty. Only negative is the crust is paper thin in spots and heavy in other spots. Overall I will simpl say I could eat one of these daily. read more

You must visit The Pasty Shop! It's a Downriver hidden gem. You won't find a better pasty beneath the Mackinac Bridge! You can call ahead and special order yours however you like, (no peas please!) or walk right in and pick up what's off the menu. In March, the corned beef is a fav for me. I love'em!! And in December they have keflies that are bar none the best! My fav is the rasberry! But an FYI...you MUST special order them to get these lil yummy treats! =) read more
