One of the most disastrous poorly run treatment centers I've ever seen. Starting with the facilities the apartments are disgusting cockroaches everywhere and half the appliances don't work in any given room. The air conditioning was constantly going out and it would take days for management to get it fixed. There is a pool but you're lucky if you get to use it one day out of the week. The vans they transport you on are more of the same the air conditioning barely works so you have to suffer driving around in the Florida heat. They give you a $75 Walmart card for food but don't tell you over the phone that you have to pay for toiletries, paper towels, toilet paper, and anything else you might need for day to day living. So if you run out of food before the next time you go shopping you're out of luck. The environment is not safe at all as there are too few techs on to monitor 50+ clients at any given time so people will have sex, run off, and get into fights regularly. As far as the therapy goes expect to sit in large groups 20+ with one therapist except for case load which is a smaller group with each individual therapist and the clients assigned to them for an hour and a half three times a week. In the large group it is impossible to get any real therapy with one or two people almost always dominating the conversation for the allotted time. The therapists are very good at blaming everything on the clients and reporting back to the parents to manipulate them into getting their children to stay longer. Individual therapy is just as laughable because you're only allowed to have 5 minutes every night to call loved ones the majority of your sessions (30 minutes 1x weekly) will be spent trying to contact them and it is impossible to have a conversation privately with a family member while you are there. When your family really needs to get in contact with the treatment team it is almost impossible and any messages parents or children try to relay to each other will not be received. Wellness hardly attempts to make life even slightly enjoyable for you while you are there they put a select few people on what they call rewards every week which is a fun activity for a few hours one day a week. Most treatment centers take everyone after a short period of time and that is also what the previous staff did. The IOP portion of Wellness is also a joke if they get your family to pay for it you will be required to walk around in the heat interviewing for jobs that are too far to commute to while also staying within the bounds of the curfew there. They make no effort to help you get to a job interview or work once you actually get a job. You will also be kicked off stepdown for any minor thing done wrong. Frankly this place only cares about their bottom line now that it is owned by Acadia. When I was on stepdown the treatment center had someone in the finance department (not a therapist) say I needed to work for two weeks on stepdown before I could leave to halfway. My families response was no we have no more money to give you people scholarship him if you care so much and think he needs two more weeks and lo and behold I was sent on my way two days later. The only positive thing I can say about this place is they let you go out on passes with a sponsor and sober supports almost everyday of the week if you put in enough passes it really is the only respite you'll get from a miserable time there. read more

I had a family member attend multiple treatment centers and Wellness was by far the most effective. As a family with a huge learning curve in terms of understanding what treatment is and the journey beyond, the staff at Wellness were patient, supportive and responsive. I wouldn't hesitate to send someone in need straight to Wellness. read more

Parents: DO NOT send your children to this facility. This is an outpatient treatment center despite the way they present themselves over the phone and in person. They refuse to bill your insurance for housing even if it is a covered benefit. Apparently I paid $7,500/mo for my son to share an apartment with 3 other men. They are raking in $30,000/mo per apartment for their mandatory housing. Their billing procedures are unethical and the staff is extremely disorganized. I would have to agree with the two below reviews from James and Dylan. I went to Wellness back in March of 2013 and have enjoyed continuous sobriety since. The complaints on here are all superficial, materialistic complaints that most likely are coming form people who did not work on themselves as Wellness requires you to and either ended up getting kicked out or leaving early against medical advice due to rules they did not like. If you're a potential client reading this, it is not a cakewalk by any means, but it also is not a prison. They have a reason for everything they do (i.e. Groceries and cleaning supplies budget, blackout period for two weeks, etc.) They also do a lot more outside activities then other treatment centers do (movies on the weekends, beach, bowling, etc.) They also promote building a support system in the program and going out on "pass" with another sober support. This is one place I see many treatment programs fail and feel that this is one of the biggest reasons I succeeded after Wellness. They forced me to meet people to prepare me for life after being babysat for 5 months. Most people I know, including me, did whine the whole first two weeks because we could not call and manipulate our parents to bring us back home. But looking back, it was the complete right thing to do. I can tell you a lot of the things they do are very similar to a treatment center a family member of mine was at, and he too is currently living a sober life. We The staff is great, from the Executive Director, Program Director, all the way down to the techs that worked with the clients on the daily basis. I can also speak for my parents and they are forever indebted to Wellness and the staff there. Wellness did not just help me improve my life and turn it around, but they work on my life as a whole (family, personal, business realtionships). I do not think I have ever had a better relationship with my family since I was quite a bit younger due to what Wellness has helped my family and I do. As Dylan mentioned below, most of these reviews are bogus and from people who most likely had a falling out, disagreement, or got kicked out for breaking simple rules. First of all I'm pretty sure these other reviews are bull. The names are all similar and ONLY a handful of people at wellness were enthusiastic to be there. Why is this place so terrible? I guess I'll do it I In categories. First is the "amazing therapy". Yeah. No. They have a method of trying to emotionally break people down and build them back up. Instead of slowly trying to get people to realize things in their lives, they completely just cut you off from everyone. Then try to make you feel as abandoned as possible by not letting you talk to your parents, significant others, or supports. The therapy isn't interpersonal it's almost ALL group. and when it is it's a joke. By group I mean the entire clientele in a room with one therapist for 4 hours. If you tell the therapist anything about yourself they'll immediately tell you how you messed up in that situation. Even if you were raped or molested and used over it. These people really don't care. They'll go through all your writings, notebooks, anything. Your therapist will then read them infront of everyone in group. Personal, private things. They strip searched two girls who they accused of having a cell phone ( they didn't ) and announced that they put a kid in jail because he didn't talk enough in group. Also, expect to be here awhile... They kept a girl for 8 months because her insurance kept paying it. That's what they like to do. The rules and punishments. You have to keep your place spotless. Which is hard when you get 75$ a week for your OWN food cleaning supplies coffee Everuthing. They don't supply anything. At all. They have washers and dryers that don't work. One girl talked to a guy. They threw away all her makeup made her buy sweatpants and only wear them. In the women's group it's just who can tell on who for more things and get who introuble. Which is really great to do, because the things they tell on eachother for are as minuscule as saying they didn't like it there. You got strikes for not being out by the van in time. If you get too many strikes you have to sit in your apartment (which is really gross) and read AA. or clean. And they'll take your iPod even if you don't get a strike. Just for fun. Oh and parents. Don't expect to hear from your kid :). Even if they're miserable and about to kill themself. They won't let you talk for the first two weeks and then only if they're approved. And it's only for 3 mins. And with someone standing there hovering. Watching reporting what you say. Oh and when to get stepped up to get a job they go through your phone, your Facebook, everything. And tell you who you can/can't talk to. There's a lot more, but you get the point. So if you decide to send your child here they will probably end up even more messed upup than when they left. If you want them to get even worse to deal with the psychological torment they received from these sadistic therapists... Then so be it. Try a sober living. Where it's actually LIVING. read more

The Wellness Resource Center saved our daughter. As we are from New Jersey we sent our daughter close by in Connecticut two months prior in October. Needless to say it was a mistake and failure. A week before Christmas we found out the worst, we found out our daughter relapsed. We were terrified. Luckily we called our insurance company and they told us The Wellness Resource Center was the best place for her to go. When we talked to the staff they closely guided us through the process. It was terrifying to send our child so far away. But with the Wellness staff we felt comfortable and new we could get through it with their support. We are truly blessed that we made that decision. Today our daughter is 3 years sober, living an amazing fulfilling life in Florida. That said I can't recommend The Wellness Resource Center anymore. read more

This place is terrible, I had them take me to a hospital to escape their facility after being there just one day.

I just finished reading the past reviews and had to laugh to myself. To whoever is reading these reviews to gauge a better opinion on whether to go/send your child/loved one here heed no warning from these obviously biased reports. I went to Wellness after I relapsed at another treatment prior. I won't name the first treatment center I went to because I don't agree with negative reviews when it comes to treatment. Different things work for different people and when it boils down to it, if you don't want to get sober you won't, no matter where you go for your treatment. As I was saying, though, I came into Wellness directly from another treatment center, and when I initially got there, I was not into it at all. My parents gave me the ultimatum to either hit the streets or try again somewhere else. I initially chose the streets, but for the grace of A God the therapists at that past treatment center talked me into giving it a second chance. And now sitting here on my computer as I write this I couldn't be happier that things fell into place the way they did. Wellness is not the only reason I am sober today, but it played a key role in getting my feet back on the ground. Clearing my head of the fog, acclimating back into society as a regular human being, getting a job. Granted it took me a while to get to the point where I 'surrendered.' Long term treatment is what worked for me. It gave me enough time under my belt to be able to think somewhat clearly and realize that life is worth so much more than a needle in my arm, an empty bottle, a broken glass pipe..., They recommended a fantastic halfway house, in which I went to for another six months after Wellness. So by the time I finished my commitment there I had already attained a full year of continuous sobriety. So whether you are thinking about going here, or you are thinking about sending a loved one here. Before anything else, make sure the person in question is ready for it. Make sure they want it. If you see a glimpse of hope, you know what the right decision is. Wellness is a great place with excellent therapists and staff that actually care about the patients. read more

I have never been to a better treatment facility than I have at Wellness Resource Center. I have tried multiple 28 day treatment programs and none of them were successful. Wellness was introduced to me as a longer term program, which at the time did not sound appealing, but I honestly believe with all my heart that was the best decision I have ever made. I made my way down to Florida in early 2013 and have over 3 1/2 years of sobriety. The staff is a wonderful team and works well with their clients. They make them the #1 priority. I like how they specialize in dual-diagnosis as that is very beneficial to those who are in need of that level of care. I highly recommend WRC as a treatment option for those who are seeking real help. read more

I went to Wellness Resource Center about 6 months ago and I am glad to say I am sober still. That being said there are plenty of better rehab centers to attend. The main issue there are the admins will try in the beginning will tell you that there is a room and board fee that isn't covered by insurance. This is completely false. Insurance for the most part cover it but the staff will quote different prices. I was told for 30 days it would be around $5,100. But, when I talked to another staff member I was told a different number. Thankfully, I said my insurance covered it (ps I never talked to them) and the admin said... Oh okay and waived it. Also, there seems to be a high turn around with staff trying to put together programs for the weekend. The techs are great and I would say the counselors too. My counselor was fairly good but when I tried to talk to her about things that seemed to be illegal at the facility (a girl being forced to sleep on the couch b/c there wasn't a bed free, uncertified counselors running groups and insurance being charged, ect) she told me "I am one person and I really can't do anything about it." Well, I can write this review to warn other people. It isn't a horrible facility and if you need to get sober this can assist a person. But, there are better treatment centers. read more

There was no hope for my sister, but Wellness changed all of that. They addressed the mental illness that lead to her addiction. They tackled issues like eating disorders, anxiety, and depression which is not addressed at typical treatment centers. Wellness is anything but typical. read more

I give Wellness Resource Center five stars because it saved my son's life. He has now three and a half years of sobriety and struggled through three previous treatment centers. The staff were exceptional and dedicated. The treatment for my son who was 22 was the right balance of support and compassion with necessary accountability. Wellness understands the illness of addiction and how to help clients and their families. I am forever grateful. read more
