It was my second time coming here for some urgent work-related requirements. This is definitely a one stop shop if you need things done quickly. The service is fast, nice, efficient, and straight to the point. Would recommend.

=Zero stars. I had an appointment on Sunday at 11 am but it was closed when I got there. Extremely messed up...

Met a very friendly young man that helped me with my fingerprints, tb test and livescan. He was very fast and efficient.

Good place to walk-in for life scan finger printing. Very efficient and they know what they are doing.

The nurse / tech performing the blood draw had issues finding the vein. They had to use both arms. Even then, they use the needle on the extraction device to probe in, out, and around in each arm multiple times. 7 times in the right arm. 4 times in the left arm. With success only in the left arm. The blood draw experience at this site, with that person is different from almost every other experience in a clinic, hospital, or blood donation site. With other nurses / techs being able to easily find the vein. Historically, I have given blood test samples in over 60 various office visits, and blood donations of 19 pints over my life. So I have more than a few experiences to compare LabCord San Mateo against. Outside of the blood draw, the staff at the San Mateo location was both pleasant and professional to deal with. The front office and draw rooms were both neat and clean. With the site location signage easy to see and understand. The office location itself was easy to find. With plenty of parking available. If I use LabCorp San Mateo again then I will likely ask for a different nurse / tech to perform the blood draw. Otherwise I give LabCorp San Mateo a "Definite Maybe" for my recommendation. Maybe that will change in the future.

Rose was incredibly kind and professional throughout the whole process. I tend to bruise easily, so I asked if she could use a butterfly needle, and she was very accommodating. Even though she had to draw around 10 tubes of blood, she was patient, gentle, and made the entire experience go smoothly. I'm really glad I chose this location today. Thank you so much, Rose!

I understand scheduled patients are prioritized over walk-ins but simply there was no effort made what so ever to acknowledge the walk-ins in between to squeeze them in . It was simply and ignorance and lack of training . Things were maybe not in their control and they were overwhelmed by appointments, however some communication and acknowledgement should have been exchanged with patients waiting for hours in the waiting room. I think it was simply an ignorance. A patient before me also waiting for 3 hours finally raised her frustrations, then it only initiated a response by a lab tech to call her in.?? What about the rest of us that was waiting as walk-ins. ?? Also, walk-ins opportunity and options should not be an option if appointments were fully booked . There should be a better way to handle walk-ins then to have them wait and not be acknowledged at all. This is just simply being rude !!

Pros: - Work individually and with others on projects within your department - Interact with employees throughout the company - Lunch 'n Learn sessions provide once-weekly brief lecture/panel style presentations on each facet of the company; lunch is provided - Paid above minimum wage - Half-time hours, so the days are short; if you really need or want the money, you could quite likely fit an afternoon job to get an extra four hours' wage every day - Freedom to request exploration in areas outside your assigned department: despite being an Operations intern, my supervisor(s) coordinated to get me in a lab on my last week to be trained on running PCR and bioanalyzing the resulting DNA samples - Occasional company-wide BBQ lunches, occasional department-wide lunches, and donuts or pastries most Thursday mornings - Knowledgable superiors with varied backgrounds and of varied ages so you can see how people in their 20's and beyond are getting into the biotech industry - Helpful superiors with a willingness to teach - Get a true hands-on understanding on what kinds of things go on in your assigned department from the ground up Cons: - Supervisors tend to be directors, making them understandably quite busy throughout most days which can leave interns with an awkward lull from time to time when projects and assignments get completed - Day-to-day tasks can occasionally be mundane; in an overall week, I would likely get to work in multiple areas, but many full 4-hour stretches were spent unstapling and scanning documents. It's not hard work, but sometimes it's a little underwhelming if you find yourself having to trudge through a stack of papers that might take a few consecutive days of repetitive work Overall an excellent experience. It is clear they put effort into organizing the internship program so as to maximize what students get out of it. Despite some day-to-day tasks being repetitive and mundane, the experience taken as a whole was great because I had the opportunity to hands-on get a taste for everything that happens in Operations, from QA/QC to production and manufacturing, document control, facilities management, shipping and receiving, and more. I would highly recommend the program for students with an interest or aptitude in biotechnology and genomics.
