I'm a Dr. Kobata patient. I've been seeing for over 10 years. I'm happy with his adjustments as I am very active with gym workouts. Nothing worse than to be in pain after days of training and the hard workouts. I couldn't continue doing what I do without the detailed adjustments to my spine. I have been coming here since 2009, especially since 2011, off and on, though more off than on as I cannot afford long-term treatment plans. Nevertheless, when my back pain acts up, I come here on a weekly basis as necessary. And when I do, it seems to me that Dr. Thain's adjustments have indeed helped. My back went out on me in 1992, 1999, and 2006, to the point that I had to go to the hospital. Fortunately, my stays were only very brief for a few hours at most. I believe that Dr. Thain has been instrumental in helping me to stay out of the hospital. I also very much appreciate his gentle bedside manner. From time to time, he also holds free brief after hours seminars at his office re: not just how to keep one's back from getting subluxated, but also other ways to keep one's body functioning well. Granted, one could believe that this is self promotion. But Dr. Thain is the kind of person whom I find it hard to be cynical of. But it is more than that, as these seminars provide much valuable health related information in the process. And to do these for free, during one's off hours, shows dedication to health preservation! And speaking of process, he is very progressive and keeping up with the latest technology in chiropractic. For example, the device he uses to adjust one's back is a new fangled computer controled device that Dr. Thain says 99% of his customers approve of, compared to the older chiropractic adjustment device. I have a minor bulging disc, they tried to get me to do the non surgical decompression without any proper evaluation( certain patient are not suitable for non surgical decompression) there's some new pain after 3 weeks of decompression, I kept brining it up every time, they kept ignoring it and could not explain the pain. now half a year after I started decompression, I am still in great pain and it's worse than I started decompression. also very bad hygiene condition during COVID, I have to brought up multiple time, they need to sanitize the room and equipment, they don't even check the patient temperature which seems to be a norm in any other clinic. read more

ONE BIG SCAM! They should be shut down and shunned for being quack doctors. They are like cell phone salesmen--they try to fill your head with big talk, scare you into needing them, and attempt to talk you into crap you don't need so that your bill is ridiculous. On my first visit, they did a series of xrays and checked posture. That part was fine except they slipped in sales pitches of a lumbar support and shoe insoles. They slipped in a lotion that I thought was free but I was billed 45 dollars and my copay is only 25. The gal in billing handed me an introductory dvd as my homework and I left feeling uneasy. The dvd was a video advising me that babies and children have subluxations and therefore need to see a chiropractor or they'll die of sids. They said that all adult deaths of "natural causes" are a result of spinal subluxations. They said that before one sees their general practitioner for things like acid reflux, they should see their chiropractor because they likely have a subluxation. The next visit I received my first adjustment. The doctor, who still gave me sales pitches for products, stated that my spine was in grave danger and I needed to see him five days a week for the first two weeks. He advised the gal in billing that I need to have their special foot insoles that cost over 500 and that if I paid everything all up front, I could save 10%. My first adjustment left me nauseous and I found out that it was because the doctor twists my neck to adjust. That's also very old and outdated practice and can be dangerous. If that's not enough, when I was given the walkthrough on what to do for every visit with that chiropractor, I was shocked at how much I had to work for them. They told me I take my own chart/file and place my own chart into the folder in front of the room I'm assigned to. Flip the plastic thing saying the room is occupied, wait for the doc lying face down and after my adjustment, I'm responsible for tearing off my own paper and discarding it. Sure, do you guys want me to vacuum also? I left and never went back. Instead, on the advice of a friend, I saw a very different chiropractor at Bellevue Chiropractic Group who does a good job on my spine. read more

Just noticed that it showed I had rated this place with two stars. I meant to give it just one star. My husband got me a gift card to get a 1-hour massage here. I was not impressed by the complimentary consultation with a chiropractor I was scheduled for (see below). The massage was worth the promotion $40/hour rate, but I wouldn't pay full price for a similar massage. The most surprising part was the reception area was closed when I got done with my massage so I couldn't pay that day. Two days later, when I had a spare moment, I called the clinic to pay for my massage over the phone. The consultation was a waste of my time. Over the phone, I was told that the chiropractor would meet with me to be able to communicate to the massage therapist specific areas that need to be worked on. Instead, the doctor took up most of the time by arguing for why seeing a chiropractor was necessary and how it was his industry's fault that people still hadn't realized this. I said I'd like to see one but I didn't have insurance. He responded by saying emergencies happen so I really should have insurance and I should prioritize how I spend my money and consider chiropractic care. Instead of the scare tactic and lecture, I would have liked some information about what a chiropractor does, the benefits of seeing a chiropractor would be for my body, etc. read more

This place is a bunch of quacks that aim to extort as much cash as possible from you. Stay away! I quit after the second visit because it was obvious that the place is a total scam, and I was worried that they might actually hurt me. Here's what happened: On my first visit the doc asked questions about the back pain I had, and I told him how I hurt my back and we jumped right into x-rays. They were done in a pretty sloppy way, with me standing along a wall and them not making any attempt to align the machine. He also pointed out that my foot arches were low (without even having me take off my shoes!), and said I needed to get custom inserts made, which would be something like $600. Ouch. I've had those before, and they were maybe 1/3 of that price. Then I had a quick chat with the doctor and he told me I would have to come back tomorrow to review the x-rays. On the way out, they managed to convince me to buy a lotion that was NOT covered by my insurance, and turned out to basically be Menthol and Camphor (ie, like tiger balm and countless other OTC products). It was $30, so ok, "that's strike one", I think. The next day, I come back and the Doc is all up in arms about how bad my back is messed up. He shows me the Xrays, and man, you couldn't see anything. In fact, I've seen a lot of Xrays and these were too blurry to be of any use. Anyway, so the only hope I have is to come in 5 days a week for adjustments and maybe after a year we'll be able to taper off a bit. I tell him that doesn't sound like very effective therapy and he goes into a talk about how the back is the central part of our body, and if I don't fix it now, it's going to lead to problems with basically every other part of myself later (including digestion!!!). Even better: There's only a few months in the year, and during this time I'll use more than the amount of visits my insurance will cover over the course of an entire year, so I'll have to pay over $500 out of pocket. But don't worry, I can talk to their financial person to arrange monthly payments! Oh, and I have insurance through Microsoft, which covers basically everything. Finally, the doc tells me that I should get an "amino acid test" to see if there are any supplements I should be taking (gee, I wonder). Conveniently, WellnessOne can do the test in house and it's not covered by insurance. Oh, and during the discussion of my back problems, the Doc tells me confidently that it's related to working in an office and sitting down all day. HAH! The previous day, I told him that I hurt my back while working in an environment where I stood up and walked around all day (research lab). I didn't argue this point through, because by this time I was just trying to count all the ways this place attempts to scam you. So at the end of the appointment, we had the first adjustment which was horrible. I was tense, and the way the doc twisted my back around actually made it hurt more, and I was sorry for fooling around with this place when I knew it was a scam. I hobbled out of there, and called up after lunch to tell them I was done with them for good. The doc sent me an aggressive email, saying that I hadn't given them a chance, that I was being completely unreasonable, and that I would be plagued with digestion problems if I didn't address my back problems. Also, he said, "if I had any idea that you were considering coming in once and then stopping I personally would have refused to see you." Really?! Does that sound like something a reputable Doc doc would say? I mean, I did pay for the products and services I received. Finally, I kept getting phone calls from their automated calling service with "chiropractic special offers" and email from their mailing lists. I called up and had them remove me from telephone and mailing lists, which worked for 6 months, but then they came back! read more

Dr. Steven Thain is one of the absolute best chiropractors around. He takes the time to get to not only care about his patients, he gets to know them. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE MONEY First of all, I was upfront about how little I can afford being a student with a low paying job. They told me that they could work within my insurance and I would not have to pay out of pocket. They billed me for $150 for my first visit X-Rays!!! When I told them I couldn't pay it, they sent me to TekCollect! Now my credit sucks, Thanks WellnessOne! The head doc put a litmus strip in my mouth and measured the change in acidity in my mouth as I stood up. FROM THIS TEST and my pulse change, he drew the conclusion that my adrenal glands weren't working properly due to bad pressure somewhere in my spine. HAH talk about some bad science! Also, when I talked to the Chiropractors about their background and what they do outside of WellnessOne, one of em started talking to me about his work in SALES!!!! Fantastic experience- I accepted a free first visit offer from Facebook and the doctor was professional, kind and took the time to really understand how I was feeling. The location is very old and not modern in any shape or fashion. The furniture screams Goodwill quality and look but you are going for the doctor I guess. They get you to come in twice for what at the time sounds like a 2nd office visit but the 2nd office visit does not include an adjustment- a bit misleading by all means but because of the the quality of the first adjustment and how much better I felt I still felt it was an OK deal to pay an insurance co-pay for the 2nd adjustment. If this location was a little more clear on the 2nd visit and not saying it is included with the first visit when in reality this is just an insurance review visit (which by all means should be done on visit one- this is a trust issue with ownership) and a little more love to the facility this would be a 5 star practice from my 2 visit experience. Still though I would return but do feel a bit questionable about their marketing. read more

I had a long overdue massage with Leanna yesterday. It was a wonderful experience. She listened attentively to my discomforts and issues. She did a terrific job bringing relief to my chronically sore hip joints, and sore hamstrings. She also addressed my the arthritic pain in the base of my thumb joints. These people don't care about their patients. All they care about is money! I went here couple of years ago when I was feeling horrible. I didn't know what was wrong with me. I kept going until my insurance couldn't cover anymore. "Doctor" Thain was so pushy trying to get me to come back for a year. He started emotionally blackmailing me. He would say things like "Don't you care about your heath? Imagine when you're old and your neck won't let you live! Do you worry about few thousands dollars now or dying early?" I don't remember the rest. I was really sick and his treatments weren't even helping me. He made me buy few items in his office. My wife and I moved here from Florida in search of not only good chiropractors (for wellness, not injury) and also decent prenatal care. We have found all of that at WellnessOne of Bellevue. Alright... I know what people think about Chiropractors, but if you've had any sort of back/neck injury, you know what a difference this makes. At the tender age of 24 I had herniated and bulging discs in my lower back and came here for help. At the time insurance companies didn't cover the DRX therapy and it was $150 each time I went in. They cut my bill in half since I had to pay cash and worked with me on a payment schedule. It sounds like a lot of money and it is... I could have easily bought a new car with the money I spent to fix my back, but I was in so much pain it's indescribable. Not being able to sit, lay, stand, walk, or sleep will make the money fly out your pocket for any hope of relief. I have continued to come to Wellness One as they have decent pricing for chiropractic care and are willing to work with you to help if they can. I can say that I've seen a lot of different chiropractors and they all charge for the initial x-ray and consultation. Outside of that, sticking to one will be better for your wallet in the end. You are responsible for your health, find what works for you and do it! The only thing I hate are the constant reminders to come in. I have a busy schedule... Dr. Thain and Dr. Thornley offer a natural way to heal, and have the training and knowledge to get you back to health, no matter where you're coming from, wellness-wise. Both doctors take time to explain how the body is affected by subluxations, and address every issue I have (I always come in with something needing attention - wrists, shoulders, knees...you name it!) Though my family has gone to see Dr. Thain for...well, for ever since I can remember. I personally wasn't too into chiropractic until recently. My story with WellnessOne truly began when I injured my lower back while I was performing with a circus troupe around two years ago. I was beginning to panic, becoming scared and depressed that I'd have to give up my circus dreams - I thought I'd even have to say goodbye to being pain-free. But with regular visits to their office and spending some time on their DRX machine (aka, miracle machine) I am back to fully normal, flexible, and strong in my back again, and functioning like I used to! A little background on me: I am 8 months pregnant and found Wellness One through my midwife. She suggested I try it out and see what I thought. I have been starting to get the lower back aches and just soreness from carrying more weight on the front of me! I also have wicked heartburn, almost constantly! My first visit was measurements, followed by a second visit to go over the results and talk about why corrective care is optimal, and honestly it makes sense. You don't put duct tape on a leaky tire and expect it to heal itself! I was adjusted from my second visit on. And once that first adjustment occurred I noticed that I wasn't reaching for the Tums the rest of the day. And into the next few days I definitely noticed an improvement in the aches and pains becoming more manageable. I wish that I had come in sooner! While I feel I have been blessed with a fairly easy pregnancy, the heartburn and aches could have been alleviated! Dr. Thain and his staff are always very friendly, prompt and didn't push me to buy anything. They suggest a treatment just as you'd expect from any other practice be it medical or dental. While I understand the complaints of other reviewers I didn't get that sort of treatment and I haven't witnessed it in the office when I have been there. I went in to see Dr. Staten Medsker at WellnessOne of Bellevue on Tuesday June 3rd after I recently found out he is back in town practising Chiropractic care. I see there are a few complaints about WellnessOne and I am hoping to tell my story to both address them and share my opinion on how Dr. Medsker helped me yesterday. Recently my lower back started to hurt and between that and the mild pain in my right arm associated with a shoulder injury in 2001 cooincidentally to seeing Dr. Medskers name on my facebook page motivated me to conatct him to get adjusted. About 10 years ago I went to a Chiropractor in Seattle when the pain shooting down my arm from my shoulder injury became overwhelming everytime I reclined on the couch to watch TV. At my first visit she took an x-ray of my neck and said I needed to work on my posture and that it may give me trouble later on in life due to it curvature. After my first visit my shoulder was So MUCH better I coudln;t believe it so I went to see her every couple of weeks or so over the next two months until I felt I could quit with no negative result. In my case Chiropractic care had such a positive effect on my shoulder I knew what I needed to do if it ever came back. After merely one adjstment the pain is virtually gone - BAM - just like that. My lower back pain is totally gone. My shoulder was so MUCH better last night on the couch that I was kicking myself for not getting over to Dr. Medsker sooner. These are MY experiences. I have had such a positive experience with Chiropractic care that I can't imagine taking any pain medicaton to treat these problems. For ME, it is tantamount to miraculous. In my opinion, not all people may react positively to a particular form of treatment. So when I read a negative review whether or not I consider their opinion when deciding what I am going to do varies from case to case. I can only speak to what a single treatment did for me and why I will go back every two or three weeks for an adjustement to make sure the pain doesn't come back. WELL worth the investment in time, travel, gas, bridge toll, etc. Dr. Staten is outstanding. My experience with how I was handled by him sets him apart from my last experience. She was a tad too rough,even though she got the job done. In regards to selling products, there are salesman coming at you everyday so you have to consider each and everything you are looking at buying before you say yes. Today, more than ever, in order to figure out whether or not a particular product may or may not work work for you means thoroughly researching that product. I absolutely love this office! I am shocked by the negativity vented here, as I've had nothing but a positively amazing experience at WellnessOne with Dr. Thain. I am pregnant with my third child and visit the Eastside Birth Center for my prenatal visits. My midwife is married to Dr. Thain, and they share an office. Nothing could be more convenient, especially because it's so close to my home! I left my last prenatal appointment feeling achy, sore and frustrated by my lack of mobility. My sciatic nerve was extremely irritated by a combination of the pregnancy and my sedentary desk job. I was able to get in to see Dr. Thain right away after my appointment, and after a quick physical exam I had my first adjustment. What a difference! I could already feel a huge relief in my lower back and hips, and after my third adjustment I was able to walk without major discomfort. It is now one month later, and my sciatic nerve is completely calm. In addition to the back and hip pain relief I have had no need to reach for my reading glasses since seeing Dr. Thain. They typically prevent headaches from hours of screen time in front of the computer, but I haven't felt the normal strain that I did before. I feel an overall sense of health and well-being thanks to Dr. Thain. The administrative staff is friendly, welcoming and supportive, especially Lisa. Bought a 1/2 price certificate for a massage --- and was not worth that price. It was nothing more than a way to get you in to sales-pitch you for chiropractic treatment. I was adament that I was NOT interested in chiro treatment --- I like massages & for 1/2 price thought I would try the place out. When it was clear that I was not going to budge, (I refused to fill out any of the medical chart information), the sales pitch was off & I received the massage -- one of the poorest massages ever, in a room that was more like a medical office -- there was nothing relaxing about it. They may have good chiroprators, but if you are going there only for a massage --- look elsewhere, it is not even worth 1/2 price! read more

The massage therapy through Wellness One is fantastic! After years of sitting at a desk every day for work and then the deaths of my son and his family, I was a bit of a wreck and had definite issues with my back/shoulders/neck area. Then I started seeing Jayme for massage. He does deep tissue massage and really works the areas that need it. Within a day or so, I always feel much better, with improved range of motion and less pain. Over the year or so that I have been in treatment with Jayme, I have made great progress in those areas - I actually feel like a different person! I've been a long-time patient of Dr. Thain and Dr. Thornley. They're very good at what they do, however, I cannot say the same thing for the front desk personnel and office manager. They lack the very basics, client relations! I had a surgery in March and had to take a break in April to recover from it. When I approached the office I was told that they do not freeze contracts. I was very surprised as many chiropractic offices and even gyms, it is possible to freeze your contract, especially if it's due to an illness or surgery. I was left with the option to cancel my contract or keep it and pay for a month without incurring a service which I didn't want to do like any normal person. I wrote an email to the office manager in March requesting that my contract be cancelled right away. Then I received an email response back that the doctor would we willing to accommodate by coming to my home or doing adjustments using the activator so I could continue care. I appreciate the doctors flexibility and willingness to offer another solution. However, I was in PAIN and didn't want do get any adjustments at that time. Plus I was told by my surgeon not to do any physical activity including chiropractic adjustments. So I wrote back saying that I wasn't ready to come back in April and asked to start my contract in May. I got no response back. I came for my first adjustment after the surgery today and found out I was charged in April even though I had asked my account be reinstated in May. It's not right to charge someone without their consent. I'm very disappointed that long-time patients can be treated so poorly. I wish them good luck and hope that they don't treat their clients like they treated me! They lack flexibility and consideration for their clients. read more
