Visited this location while in the Malibu area for work. Had to stop by to withdraw $700 from my business account, which i usually do but this time I wasn't asked any questions to verify my identity they just jumped to conclusions. First as many know they ask questions to verify identity (which I understand and appreciate) however this location did not ask me anything like my ssn, address, last transactions, or even send a pin to the number on file. They just jumped to me being there being fraudulent. Is this how people of color get treated there? They told me they had an error on their screen and that was why there was a hold but it turns out that was a lie and they were seeing the info on the account. Asked me to sign the slip once again and told me my signature was different from years ago. NO f**** S*** that was almost 7 years ago when I was in high school. They had lead teller and operations manager involved and it wasn't until my partner who used to work at Wells Fargo was able to confirm they didn't have any errors it was just them doing their own thing without asking any US questions JUST talking to themselves in their own language which was very rude what are you sharing about my account that you can't do it in the language your customer speaks? The BRANCH manager was just sitting on her desk and then they ask us to sit down while they continue verifying with their FRAUD department which according to partner is a last resort. Branch manager took over with nothing but nasty attitude, we lost 1:30hr there and missed our flight from LAX all because of their poor training and poor judgment. Sorry that you question why POC have business accounts. Do better. We even told them to check the last transactions for the same amount in different cities for them to verify the use of the account and they just ignored us. I felt discriminated. I'm not sure what everyone's problem with this branch is. I get greeted as I enter every time I go in. The tellers are very helpful and courteous for all my transactions. The parking lot can be busy at times but I have never had an issue finding a spot. I admit this particular branch is in need of an interior update but that is besides the point. The customer service I've received has been solid. I know I'll still be a customer here and if people really dislike this branch that just means shorter lines for me. If you've read my reviews, you know I rarely post a bad review, being more interested in turning people on to things I think are worthwhile. This is an exception, a warning to stay away unless you love wasting your time. I contacted a Home Mortgage Consultant named Tatum Ulloa, first by phone, and then later, by emails and phone messages, inquiring about a loan. After the first phone call, she took almost a week to respond. I contacted her again via email and phone, asking more questions. Her next response was 2 1/2 weeks later, saying that she had broken her leg 3 days ago. While I'm sympathetic to such tragedies, this doesn't really explain the previous two weeks of not responding to emails and messages, does it? She asked for some documents. Against my better judgment, I scanned these and sent them in. No response. I left more phone messages and emails. Home Mortgage Consultant Tatum Ulloa never responded. If I could leave zero stars for Wells Fargo and for Tatum Ulloa, I would. Highly non-communicative and unprofessional. Avoid at all costs. read more

I regretfully am giving this branch 2 stars although my perception of it USE to be that it is a very friendly and helpful branch especially when Wayne was the manager. Cant not say the same about Manvir Kaur the new manager. I received a passive aggressive attitude for wanting a letter of verification, which she said they did not have in their regular templates and could therefore not produce. I really needed this for mortgage purposes and getting the "home" or not depended on it. And such a simple letter too not surpassing 3 sentences. I tried to get it online from their website, and I have the 12 months history but since I pay DIRECT PAY, the online does not produce proper paper work that LINKS the 12 months payment history with my NAME or ADDRESS. Hence I can't submit it to the mortgage company as it could be Joe Moe that made the payments. So all I needed was the payment history linked to my name. They just would not give it, period. The "NO" was the size of an impenetrable wall as if I am making the weirdest request any one has ever made. How can you as a bank NOT be able to link payments from my account to my name???? How can you say; you can't verify me when I am a Wells Fargo client and with attitude to top it of? I could not use the statements to show the payments as doing so would require that NOW those statements go to underwriting delaying the process and causing me to fall out of contract with seller. The original person who tried to help me, said he couldn't help either after talking to Manvir. But Damian was sincerely trying to help, trying to find a solution and was so incredibly nice. He could not solve it either but at least he sincerely tried. The 3rd time, really frustrated, I went back -hoping I could find Wayne and really thought and hoped Manvir was just filling in. As I already had a bad taste. This time Summer tried to help me, she was initially nice but once she talked to the manager Manvir and came back, it was different. Of-course at this point I was energetically breathing like a bull from my nose and unseen heat was coming out of my ears so I might have triggered her as well. But it was a very unwelcoming, annoyed, you are being a pest and we have to just be patient with you - type of attitude once she came back from talking to Manvir. Whatever the situation is; "Managers" are really there to reverse this type of happenings NOT create them through how they are advising their employees to handle a situation. Whatever was talked about, the minute she entered the room I knew no solution was happening that day. I insisted that -they have to verify me as their client and these payments made, as my payments. The answer was exactly this - "We do not have to write any letters for you". At that moment I decided to close all may accounts with them and I have about 6 or 7 accounts and 3 credit lines, all my business runs through them and I can't wait to go somewhere else. If my own bank can not verify me due to their bureaucracy I have no reason to be there. Summer was extremely ready to do it, saying "Ok, lets do it, I can do it right now" kind if challenging me back in the situation. Again, really, really bad call I think. Especially since you are NOT representing yourself and your own feelings but an institution. You are there to serve not to make a point, let alone a personal point. Hence the name customer service. Unfortunately I have to wait till mortgage process is over. I am sure both these ladies are really nice people in general but it takes a different type of skill set to be in customer service. Neither one of them handled the situation well and both had attitude. Summer finally gave me a letter saying at least that I was a client of theirs since 2009 but it was a struggle to the end and simply unpleasant and of-course the letter was of no use for mortgage purposes because it was too generic. At this point I was laughing at the whole situation, knowing what I am experiencing is so crazy, its bound to get resolved if not at the Malibu Branch, somewhere else. Sure enough 15 minutes away at the Santa Monica, Wells Fargo everything was resolved. It took me under 30 seconds to explain my situation, under a minute to get my letter. It had everything I wanted on it. Verification of money amounts transferred, that amounts where transferred for 12 months, and the transfer amount was under my name. And an open door, for mortgage company, if they had any further questions. The person helping me in Santa Monica also found it extremely strange, that I had such a hard time getting such a simple letter. Please lets not loose you as a customer and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to you. Hmmmm! Sounds more customer service like to me. The 2 stars is for the other smiley ones in the bank and Damian. "We can't verify you, as what u want is not in any of our template letters" and "We don't have to write letters for you" are not acceptable answers. read more

The branch isn't particularly bad, but some of the tellers and the manager are extremely rude. Especially during the pandemic, when they seemed to forget human decency completely. However, it is the unconstitutional and egregious way this bank behaves that is why I issue this dire warning to hard-working folks; put your money somewhere else, it isn't safe at Wells Fargo. The bank has been rocked by scandal after scandal, from its CEOs, to the way it treats your money, often stealing it with pathetic tricks and credit swaps that make no sense at all. Appalling business practices, and incompetence, so that I was attacked and harassed by the bank because they mistook me for a student with a student loan, and not a 25 yr loyal customer. The inhuman way they treated me when they thought I was this person should tell you everything. This bank preys on the week. For the love of God avoid them, you deserve better! read more

Well the employees there are nice and Wayne Hildenberger is particularly helpful and competent BUT Wells Fargo itself sucks the big one and after many years with them, I've closed all of my accounts there. What happened with me is too long of a story but suffice it to say that I no longer want anything to do with the institution. read more

The most friendliest Wells Fargo staff I've ever dealt with. Had a clerical error occur on closing an account and thanks to the branch manager Nicholas Grandchamp he rectified the mishap. He took the extra step to call several divisions within the company to ensure there were no adverse affects with my personal relationship. Worth driving this far just to do business. read more

We've had a great experience with this Wells. For giant corporation, this feels like a home town bank. Everybody is crazy nice and the service is beyond expectations. Aside from the tellers, we really like Pari (forgive me for not spelling correctly). She helped us with two business accounts and our personal account. She made sure we had the best programs available to us. We could not recommend them more. We actually left and went with JP Morgan's personal banking, but then came back when we found that this Wells' regular banking had better service than the personal banking that was promised with JP Morgan. All kinds of problems with a new account. First, I missed endorsing a check when I deposited it into the atm so they deducted the money from my account and then I had to wait for a COPY to be mailed to me for endorsement, even thought he actual check was still at the bank. They did wave fees for checks that came through in the interim but I had no use of the money for almost a week. Then I checked the atm last Thursday night and had a positive balance. I despoited cash because I knew I had other checks coming through, then used my atm card at Ralphs. Haha, one of the outstanding checks had come through but didn't show at the atm. Then because of the hold on funds at Ralphs, they bounced the check as I was short 71 cents and charged me $35. Then the $35 made me short on the account when the Ralphs debit came through so they charged me another $35. I told them to clseo the account and they won;t without my paying the bounced check charges, so the checks will bounce back through and they will charge me more. I told the asst. manager that if I came into the bank I'd be very angry and he said he'd escort me out. This branch is TERRIBLE on customer relations as far as I'm concerned. read more

This is a newly remodeled branch in the Malibu Cross Creek shopping center. There are two branches very close together in Malibu and I think some of the negative comments posted on here might have been about the other one, as they are close together and easy to mix which one is which. My experiences with this branch have been fantastic. Seriously, I feel like I'm walking into Disneyland whenever I go in to visit. Everyone is so friendly and greets you when you walk in. They seem genuinely appreciative of your business. I actually prefer to go inside now to make a withdrawal from the teller instead of just using the ATM like I always used to. They always offer me complimentary bottled water or tea or coffee. Its a totally different experience than I've had at any other branch. They always thank me for my business and are extremely pleasant. I mean, its a bank on the beach pretty much, so maybe they are just genuinely happy to work there, but whatever they are doing that makes them so pleasant, its working. I recently went in to conduct a wire transfer and they handled everything perfectly, I was in and out in 5 minutes. They even called me the next day to make sure I was satisfied with my experience and that everything on the other end of the transfer had gone smoothly. I couldn't believe it, since when did your bank call you to make sure you were happy with how your transactions were being handled? Fantastic customer service. You should really go check it out and experience this for yourself. As a trustee for my mother's estate, I needed some medallion guarantee signatures. Wells Fargo initially told me they would do these, and asked me to deliver a copy of the trust and a death certificate. I did so. Then I was asked to deliver statements from the companies whose stocks I was transferring. I did so. I was then told I could not get the medallion guarantees because the trust did not have an account with Wells Fargo. It would have saved me time and trouble if I had been told this from the start. I've banked at Wells Fargo for many years, and expected better treatment. My sister, co-trustee on the trust, had no difficulty getting the medallion guarantees from her local bank with less information and no run-around. read more

While the staff is generally friendly, the branch manager, Nick, abides by austere company rules that enhance the bottom line of WFB regardless of customer loyalty and needs. The charges they make on checks that are cleared by the bank, if covered by the customer the day they send notice of the check clearance, are slapped with a $35 charge. Often these notices are not sent until later in the business day, even if the balances were credited with funds by the customer that very morning! Insult to injury, we pay 14 per month for a QuickBooks view of the accounts on line in real time. While many other WFB branch managers see fit to reverse these insane and onerous charges, Nick will not. WFBs profits last year were in the 20 billions, that's with a B, and this was due to many of these practices. I'd find another branch if you I were you. Don't fall for the niceties. Unless you have piles of money, they will take your money in ways you may not be aware. read more
