We did with they had a bit more seasoning but with all the toppings on the burger and dipping them into the fry sauce, they were delicious. Get the onion rings and fries!! They are both AMAZING!! You can either order on a tablet or with a person (love that there was a choice!) and everyone seemed genuinely happy and friendly! The vibes here were cool! They can basically open all the walls up and there is a patio, complete with 2 area fire pits! This place does have alcohol, so grab a drink or milk shake and enjoy the outdoor space! read more

I wasn't sure what to expect at Wells Roadside, but my first visit was perfect! It was a 77 degree afternoon and they had a fan going, so it was a great day to eat there. There were multiple types of tables and seats to choose from. We chose to order on the tablet rather than wait in line to order. The experience using Toast on the tablet was smooth. We got our order numbers and it was easy to keep an eye on the screen to see when the orders would be ready. We also received text notifications. This all happened very quickly! One thing we noticed was that when they called out order numbers, it was fairly loud for the amount of people there at the time. The burger (wagyu brisket jalapeño) and hot honey crispy chicken sandwich that we got were both delicious and just as expected! I loved the shoestring fries since that's my favorite kind of fry. I also thought the fry sauce was the best balance of sweet and tangy. We ordered dessert at the table using the provided QR code and again were able to track when our orders would be ready on the screen. The regular shake and small soft serve cup were the same size - the pictures made it seem like the shake would be bigger but that didn't bother us, just worth noting. I loved the fudge and Oreo crumble on the soft serve! Overall just a solid spot to hangout and have a good burger, fries, and dessert! I'll definitely be back. read more

I hadn't ever been here before, so I thought I would give it a try. I love that you have the choice of eating inside, outside, or take-out. I also like the layout, where you can order at one window, pickup at another (there is a board where you can keep track and even see how many minutes until your order is ready!), and yet another window for pop refills and dessert orders. Very well thought out. I thought the hamburger was very high quality: juicy, tasty, and a good char flavor. The fries were good too: shoestring, but well cooked: not greasy and not overcooked, which is easy to do with thin fries. The portion is huge and seems like it is made to split with another person, or even two. I did also get their soft serve ice cream and that was yummy too. A few quibbles: It's tricky to get to because you can SEE it off of Highway 7, but its off a frontage road. I recommend using a GPS the first time you go there, so you don't keep waiving to it from Highway 7. The second quibble is this: Why do they ask for a tip when it's self-service at the counter window (or even at a self-service kiosk, or online, you pick up the order from the window and you bus your own table. Exactly who is the tip for because there is no waitstaff? If it's for the people who cook the food, isn't that by definition what they are paid for? This tip thing in the US is way out of whack. Also, there is an upcharge if you use a credit card which is actually a third quibble. Those three quibbles equal a subtraction of one star. read more

This is a fairly standard roadside spot, complete with floats, burgers and dogs. They do a great job with service, churning out their food consistently and quickly. There is both a shaded seating area with tables and a patio with adirondack chairs. The location, very close to the Cedar Lake Trail, makes this the perfect mid ride spot to grab some fuel and rest your legs. I will absolutely be coming back here more along with exploring the west metro on bike. read more

Holy smokes. My bestie suggested this place for dinner and I really enjoyed my meal. This is one of the most flavorful and memorable burgers I've had. It's simple, but they do it well. There was a lot of flavor and the double patty was perfect for me. If you like grilled onions, you'll love this burger. The fries remind me of 5 guys. I prefer a crispier fry, but that's my preference. The onion rings were crunchy and filled with big onions - yum! I ended up leaving with a pina colada shake and it wasn't overpowering. Very tasty. I decided to order pickup from Wells which is the former Galaxy Drive in and before that Wagner's. I ordered a salmon sandwich and a shake. They had it ready very quickly after I ordered it online. I received a text that was a bit confusing but I guessed it meant my order was ready. When you go to the restaurant, be sure to turn left into the lot to park or you'll end up driving around again. Not sure what they've changed but the last two times it's been terrible. Greasy, unseasoned fries that are sitting under the warmer- for who knows how long (no other customers in the parking lot), the burgers look and taste like they are frozen patties. Milk shakes are continuously a fail. There's zero flavor. Their "wells whipped cream".... Tastes like one from a can. Basically it's all now just a flavorless greasy mess. read more

No fry sauce with the fries I think you have to buy it. Unlike My Burger where you can get free aioli condiments for the fries. I ordered the new Baconnaise Wagyu and it just tasted like ordinary burger. The pickled onion is bland and doesn't really elevate the burger. I spent $18 for the burger and fries. It tasted like Five Guys Burger and they have better fries. Parking is difficult and street parking is limited and some have signs that says permit parking only. read more

We had a great experience at Wells! My brother used to live in Napa so we would go to Gott's Roadside a ton - and this place reminds me of it. Classic fare, classic roadside/drive-up vibes, affordable yet delicious. AMBIANCE/SEATING I loveeeee that they kept the drive-up/drive-in feel of this spot! It was so well re-done. They have way more covered and outdoor seating than I thought! I like that there are both options provided. The outdoor seating is especially comfy and vibey! Also love that they are dog-friendly (and even have adorable dog friendly options on the menu!) ORDERING Ordering is simple - at the window, with the menu on screens above. Pick up window is around the corner, and you can see the team making your food as you wait. FOOD/DRINK/DESSERTS We of course had to get burgers! I am so thankful they have a gluten free bun option. The fries were delish, and I loooove that they have so many fun sauces to pick from! I was bummed their ranch wasn't house made, but loved the house made fry sauce. A drive-in on the South frontage road of Hwy 7 just a bit East and across from Knollwood. I found that it has a few modern features but still harkens back to an earlier time. Parking under the canopy, in the lot or on the street is plentiful. Service/ordering (it is a drive-in after all) was cordial and prompt. Seating on the (dog and human family friendly) shaded patio is comfortable. Premises clean with two well maintained unisex bathrooms (one on either side). Stopped in with my adult son the other day. Both he and I enjoyed our food. The burgers (we both had double patties) were flavorful and non-greasy. He had the double patty Wells Smash Burger and ate it with some relish. I went with the double Oklahoma Burger though next time I might go with the single since the double was nearly too much for me. I found my burger to have a pleasing beefiness and considerable heft. Arguably a bit pricey for a drive-in but I didn't think it was too out of line considering the quantity and quality. We split an order of reasonably priced hand cut, generously portioned and tasty fries (one side order could plausibly serve 3 adults) served with a savory dipping sauce in a paper cup (to be honest the sauce may have been intended for the Smash Burger but it made for a pleasant combo with the fries). If dining in (or just exiting from your vehicle for takeaway) order at a window where you're issued a receipt that displays your number. Grab a table (or your wheels I suppose) and before long your number is called over speakers and you subsequently pick up your order at the designated spot. All-in-all a pleasant summer evening with decidedly above average food. read more

I arrived about five minutes before opening, but they were kind enough to let me place my order early. The place was clean and very much inviting.You can stay in your vehicle or sit out on their patio.I was in a hurry this day and decided to grab takeout.The food came out quickly.I had ordered the Wells Smash burger and a side of hand cut fries. I thought it strange that I was the first customer of the day, but the fries weren't hot. I was in a rush and couldn't wait around. The smash burger itself was meh.I really liked the flavor of the bun, but it got soggy pretty fast.Maybe eating it fresh on-site would make a difference. Finally visited Wells Roadside for a late Saturday night dinner after a fun afternoon at Art-A-Whirl with my best friend. It was the perfect Saturday night meal. The weather matched the vibes of the restaurant and just screamed summer to me. The setup of the place is so cool too. It gave me total drive-in/backyard summer hangout vibes. We ordered the double Oklahoma smash burgers, onion rings, and fries. LOVEDDDD IT!!! That burger was scrumptious. The amount of onions made me do a happy dance. However, after bite two or three, we realized we forgot to ask for pickles. Seriously, that would've made it elite for me. Guess l'll just have to go back for round two oh so soon.....like next week (shhh!). The fries were good, but I liked the onion rings even better. The portions were huge too, honestly enough for two meals for me because I needed to save room for ice cream... which I definitely didn't need, but my eyes told me otherwise. True to its name, the burger-joint menu is the kind of thing you'd expect on a road trip where you're just hungry for greasy-spoon grub that you'll eat in the car. Order from one of two windows depending on whether or not you're just getting ice cream or drinks. There are also two food-type-specific pickup windows to keep track of. You can then eat at the outdoor tables, some of which are under a roof with just-in-case heaters. Or I guess there is tacit encouragement to eat in your car? We got smashburgers which we felt were average. They just come with cheese & any extra toppings come at a surcharge. They don't have any particular sauce. We also got fries and were impressed with the quantity, but they are kind of stringy and not flavored particularly well. We got a shake and a root beer float that we liked. The menu has a number of soft-serve ice cream options, something for dogs, and a THC section. It's got ambiance for sure, and that's probably enough reason to give it a try and hang out for a bit. The Midwest in and out burger! When pulling into this restaurant, I was convinced it was a drive in. Then realized you needed to order in person with a cashier. The menu had great American classics like burgers, hotdogs, fries and shakes! I was excited to try the Wells burger which was a waygu smash burger with cheese. The cashier asked if we wanted to try the Wells sauce which was similar to a raising canes sauce although I personally didn't mind it too much. The downside to this restaurant is the outdoor seating only. It was a hot summer day and although there is fans on the ceiling it felt like it was only circulating the hot air, not cooling at all! The only bad thing I can say about the dog is the bun could be a little more sturdy, so that it can support all the ingredients of the Chicago dog until the end. Two months ago when I went you had to order everything at the window, desserts etc. When there is a long line that's pretty frustrating if you want to order dessert later. BUT NOW not only do they have QR codes to order from your table - they also have online ordering and take-out! Bravo!! Supposedly Wagyu, but didn't really taste like it. All good though, as the burgers were very tasty and not super greasy, which sometimes happens with Wagyu. The fries were nice and crispy/chewy and well salted. First of all, I love the transformation compared to the last place that was here! They have a very cool and modern indoor dining area that has both fans and heaters, to accommodate all seasons. They also have some tables outside for the warmer months. I was pleasantly surprised that this is no longer a drive in like the last restaurant. When you get inside, you can order for either dine in or take out. The good: it is very kid and dog friendly, similar to the other restaurants owned by the same group. We also really liked the soft serve which can be served in a cup or no one and you can select a syrup flavor as well, if you want. Also, we all loved the French fries! We ordered 2 orders of fries for 4 people but we could barely get through 1 order, so the portions are generous. The not so good: as I mentioned, this place is very kid-friendly, when we were there each table has at least one kid. It would be nice if they had a kid's meal type offering which makes ordering easier. And finally, and this part makes me sad, the burgers and hot dogs were mediocre at best. I had the Oklahoma single - overall good textures but there was a very odd smell and flavor - not sure if there was too much pepper or some other seasoning but it wasn't good, I only ate about half of it. The burger was also a bit on the underdone side, which is unusual for a smash burger. Also, the hot dog was strange - the cut the sausage down the middle, which is fine but unexpected and the hot dog bun is covered in poppy seeds, which is not appetizing and unnecessary. Overall, we tried our best to power through the burgers and hot dogs just so we could get to the best part, the ice cream. We will probably be back for ice cream but that's about it. read more

I have placed orders for the Oklahoma double burger. I had fries once and they were very likable. I also appreciate that I get points.
