This is an update of my review. After several calls a truck did come to my home before New Year's Eve. In fact, Welsh made up for the miss by collecting my trash two days in a row--which is good since I had two weeks of garbage accumulated. Thank goodness they did. We had company coming and the stacked up junk was not a good look! I want to say a word about the workers who man the trucks: they are GREAT GUYS. Always cheerful and do a complete job. We love our drivers and if we need additional services those guys are also amazing. The problem is the service itself since Casella bought them. I've had to call twice in the last two weeks to get our recycle picked up. The first time I called was fine and they came in 20 min. The second time it sounded like it was my fault they didn't pick up the recycle for our entire street . They changed billing from bimonthly to monthly and increased the cost with barely a whisper about it. A lot of my neighbors are now looking for alternatives. Wake up, Casella. read more

Would not recommend hiring them. Hired them and they never showed up to pick up our garbage for two weeks. Spent over 120 minutes on hold to ask them to pick up our garbage. They said they would and never did. Then, another 45 minutes to cancel our account. read more

This is owned by a corporate conglomerate so it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach someone in person who is connected to the local office. When they neglect to pick up trash, you have to spend 45 minutes on hold to find someone to report it to. Even then they don't deliver. Find a different trash service! read more

Frequently missed pick ups. They are unreliable and even when they say they will come the next day that often is not true. Used to be better when not part of a larger company read more

12/01/2023 Finally resolved my issues with this company by cancelling my service. Way too many missed pickups and they don't care about it. 09/26/23 Welsh continues to miss my pickup but never missed sending me a bill. This time they picked up my recycling and left my trash. "Did you leave it out the night before" asked their customer service as if to reverse blame right away. Time to dump this trash company. 2023 update. Welsh missed my trash pickup. I notified them by asking for an adjustment on my next bill. They then missed another pickup during the same billing cycle. I notified them again. No credit on my next bill. I notified them again. No adjustment. They were great until I had a problem. Original rating until I had an issue: I have used this service for residential trash pickup for a year now. I have had zero issues and the pricing is reasonable. An every other week pickup would be better for me but not offered. I would recommend this company. read more

This company is the worst!! Welsh bins are all over my property, blocking my driveway, blocking local businesses, often not picked up and Welsh refuses to move the pickup location to the correct location which should be in front of the tenants buildings, not on my property or in front of my business. I DO NOT EVEN USE WELSH so none of these bins are mine!! We had 12 BINS, TWELVE in our driveway last week blocking commerce and our staffs parking. I've been complaining for months and I get nothing. This is the worst company. I would give them a zero but it seems you can't do that on Yelp. I'll call yet again tomorrow. This is ridiculous. read more

About once a month you have to call to get them to pick up your garbage. It usually takes about 4 or 5 calls to get a live person and then she makes it sound like it's your fault "Did you put it out the night before?" Yes, I always do. Also, you pay extra for recycling bin, but they throw it all together in the garbage section...rarely separate the two bins. When asked about it they say the recycling lift is "broken" Other than that they're great. read more

By far the worst experience I have had with a sanitation service in Ulster County. Unreliable and poor customer service. My residence would not receive service for multiple weeks at a time and every time I would call, they would "let dispatch know" - but no one would show up to remove the waste. I used Welsh for two months and only ever had my trash picked up as scheduled twice. Do not use this company. read more

not crazy expensive and delivered cans within a week of me calling to request service. buuut they don't have an app and their website isn't the best being your account info doesn't update quickly (payments paid) and it's not the easiest to make sense of. also not really a fan of their phone system when you try to call them to get to talk to someone to MAKE SURE the payment was cleared and that you'll get trash pick up that week. read more

Superior Waste switched to Welsh Sanitation and instead of showing up at 10 AM started showing up at 7 AM or earlier. Raised our rates by $10 per month without warning. I cancelled the service; they said the cans would be picked up a week ago. Just called again and got we have no record of that - ok, well are you going to pick them up? Crickets - she hung up on me. Since this year, they did not pick up my trash or recycling at least 7 times. I had to call them multiple times and one time they were supposed to pickup the trash within two days and it sat in front of my house for an entire week! I had to end up cancelling service with them and they had the nerve to say that I had multiple credits on my account. If they would've picked up the trash then I wouldn't need credit! I have seen the trucks put both garbage and recycle can contents into the same truck, same [part of the truck. This goes against The New York State Solid Waste Management Act of 1988. Why?? read more

Where do I even start. Welsh sanitation does not deserve anyone's business. They are unorganized and unhelpful. First of all, when I tried to get a welsh account explaining that the house I am currently renting already had an account a with the previous tenants they explained that switching over was not possible and I would have to cancel then account, take the trash cans back, and the create a new account and have the trash cans brought back. When I tried to ask the women on the phone from welsh questions about how the trash works she claimed that since I am not a member I shouldn't even be asking her these questions over the phone, AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME. Fast forward to finally getting an account and things are going okay. As a household who mostly accumulated recycling instead of trash this company is not accommodating because they only pick up the recycling every other week. The last straw is that they haven't come to pick up the recycling for three weeks now and we have too much recycling to handle. We are promptly canceling our account because this is so ridiculous. read more

They are so rude and unethical. Supposedly they recycle. So I carefully separate and rinse my recyclables. Then I realize that ALL of my neighbors are putting obvious landfill trash in the recyclable containers, usually overflowing. The recycling truck picks them up, no problem. How can they possibly get sorted and recycled? No way. I called to ask about this and the representative was very rude and tried to paint me as being the problem. He then actually called the park manager of my mobile home and complained to him that I was "nasty"! Meanwhile, everyone knows that recycling doesn't actually happen anymore, except in very contientous communities with their own transfer stations. We can see how Asian countries can't even sort and turn a profit on our recyclables. Let's be honest here, our recycling gets thrown into the landfill. And quit with the demeaning and demonizing behavior towards the customers by the managers. read more

Prompt, reliable service and reasonably priced. However, the trash collector prefers to put recycling in with the garbage rather than using the separate collection compactor on the side of the truck. Is he anti-recycling or just plain lazy? Disgusting. read more

Just a quick review, since they don't let many people of the public in. Effective place to pay a garbage bill with a company who seems to care. Never a problem, if you have the bill on you. If not, you can drop off the payment too. Outside of that, any questions need to be addressed with the phone operator(and they will tell you this when you walk in). read more
