Closed at 7:45pm on Wednesday 4/3. Doors all locked but workers were inside. At least Burger King across the street was open.

Have you ever wondered what German pastry heaven would look like?…read moreWell, look no further, Yalaha Bakery is what you've been dreaming of! My husband and I have been searching for a German bakery since we both have a sweet tooth for baked goodies. He's been telling me about how legendary German goulash tastes since before we got married (it's been a few years now ) and the Yalaha Bakery menu mentioned seasonal soup including goulash so of course we had to stop here. We visited on a rainy Wednesday afternoon around 4:45 pm. This place has modest architecture and a small parking lot, but don't let that fool you since as soon as you open the door, there are 4 glorious levels of tasty treats under a refrigerated glass display and fresh bread in shelves behind the counter. There were about 4 customers in the shop and a few others that came in while we were ordering. Everything looked so delectable, so it was hard to choose from the huge variety! Our bakery order ended up being quite large, so I'm glad my husband brought the cooler with him. We got 1 rhubarb pie (for a gift), 1 rhubarb streusel (another gift), 1 apple streusel, 1 German apple pie, 1 tiramisu, 2 lavender shortbread cookies, 1 eclair, 1 cream horn, 1 Brazilian caramel bar, 4 pretzel rolls, and 4 large pretzels. There might be a few other things as well. The order was about $125 with tip. Excellent customer service by the counter girl, and she was very patient while we were deciding on things. After we packed our pastries in the cooler, we went back to check out the deli section. They had a lot of German deli items to choose from, but what I was really interested in was the goulash. The very kind counter lady (possibly the owner?) took my order, and I couldn't have asked for a heartier, soul-warming soup for about $6. The meat was cooked to soft perfection. The veggies (peppers, tomato, and potato if I recall correctly) melted away while you sipped the soup that tasted like it was made by your favorite extra-skilled German grandma. I was in stew heaven. Of course, I shared a few spoonfuls with my husband, and it was gone in a few minutes. All in all, we discovered that Yalaha Bakery is a hidden gem in Yalaha, FL. If you love bakeries and handmade treats like we do, this is a great place to visit. Prepare your bank account to splurge on pastries, artisan German bread, and remember to stop by the deli! We'll be back again next time we're in the area on one of our road trips.

It's a cute little spot with classic car photos all over the walls and that old-school 50's diner vibe that just feels right for a morning meal. Our server was Katie, friendly and efficient. My wife and I both ordered the 2-2-2 -- two eggs cooked to order, two meats, and two pancakes. She went with scrambled eggs and bacon, I chose over-easy eggs and sausage patties. She mentioned the bacon was a little on the salty side, but I really enjoyed my sausage patties -- good flavor and cooked just right. The pancakes were the star of the show. Light, fluffy, and huge -- like small hubcaps taking over the plate. The only thing that would've made them better would be whipped butter and warm syrup. That little extra touch would have taken them over the top. Portion sizes were generous for sure, but the price caught me off guard. We both drank water and our total came to $31 for breakfast. As a former chef, I know breakfast is one of the most cost-effective meals to produce -- it's usually the best money-maker for restaurants. While the portions were solid and the food was good, the price point gives me pause. I'd come back for the hearty portions and those fluffy pancakes, but the pricing might make me think twice. 4 stars -- had to deduct one for value.

It is in a strip mall near Ollie's and a recruiter for aemed forces. There are sign boards outside describing the few specials for the day. We entered and a waitress said we could seat ourselves anywhere there is an open table. There were a lot of openings, so we picked a booth and in a few minutes, Tammy approached us and took our orders for coffee and water. When she delivered those items, we placed food orders and off Tammy went to get the process working. It was not more than 10 minutes that we waited, when the food was brought out to us. I had the biscuits and gravy with sausage mixed in to the gravy. One large biscuit split in two was in a large bowl and covered with tasty gravy. A side of twp eggs was also delivered or make a complete breakfast for me. My wife ordered the special of eggs, hash browns and toast including coffee was also delivered and it was all good. Reasonable prices for ample food is a plus going to this place. Tammy was friendly and engaging and came back for coffee refills and pleasantries.

It felt like stepping back in time. If you want a nice quiet afternoon, go to Leesburg. Walk the quiet streets of this lazy town, and visit this pub. People go and stay for hours and no one rushes you. I met a friend here. We enjoyed a nice meal and had a nice quiet place to sit, talk and catch up on each other's lives. The food was very "English." We split a gigantic pretzel and fish and chips. Had we both ordered our own, it would have been too much food. The waitress was very accommodating. She didn't rush us and was there whenever we needed anything. Although we stayed for about 2 hours, other customers were there longer than us! I definitely will return. Cheese sauce for pretzel was good. Ordered a burger and asked for medium. The bun bottom was soaked and wet in blood so I knew it had to be undercooked for sure. It was extremely rare. I didn't want to send back so I ate the outer parts of the burger but it really wasn't good. Fries are good. Not those breaded seasoned deep fried things everyone is going to. They were like a nice normal steak fry with salt and pepper. There were so many of those tiny gnats or fruit flies everywhere also. They got in our drinks and our food. It was annoying. Definitely means there are issues there.
