It was around 8:30pm cst last night. 10/03/2025. They were super busy, so I tried to keep the order simple. Baconator combo only ketchup & mayo with a vanilla Diet Coke and a #9, just the #9 - 4 chicken strips, not to be confused with the #9 combo option as shown on the menu. There are cameras in the restaurant. Employee threatening to punch me in the face because he refused to give me the correct drink. I wasn't even being an a$$hole yet. Like, they're busy, I get it. I also know it takes all of 30 seconds to switch out the syrup. I asked him at least 5 times. I'm not leaving without what I ordered. The syrup IS out. I'm not drinking soda water that I did not order. You can see it, it looks like iced tea. Literally this guy takes my money and refused to correct the error. He wouldn't even take the incorrect beverage back. I dropped it in the parking lot, I did pick it up. He was all dramatic, putting his hands up like I was going to attack him or something, it was the best acting job I've ever witnessed in real life. It's all on the video footage as well. He tried to tell the manager that I threw it. I absolutely did not. To say it was insane is putting it mildly. The manager went to the lobby to fulfill my drink order and did absolutely nothing to deescalate this vile employee, likely because he's intimidated by his employee. Still not what I ordered, but I just settled. Medium Diet Coke is also NOT what I ordered. It was the dark brown we all know Coke, Diet Coke, vanilla Diet Coke looks like. He refused to even give me a receipt that I asked for. After he threatened to punch me in the face and was screaming at me, flipping me off, I left. HUGE learning curve, just because the machine says it's not out of syrup doesn't mean the machine is correct. This was a joke. "The machine would tell me if it's out of syrup." Clearly your machine is broken. Imagine that. Depending on a machine instead of visuals, taste and brainpower. I just wanted the large vanilla Diet Coke that I paid for. Real simple. I will NEVER go back to Wendy's. Not any of them. I didn't even eat my food. This place cannot be trusted. Even worse, when I was telling my daughter what had transpired, she described the guy to me! He's known to be like this to customers. Yes, he should 100% lose his job. He's in the wrong line of business, or they should move this lunatic to the BOH. read more

The reason for my bad review is because the service was terrible. The food was better than the service, but the person who was taking the order messed it up twice. I asked for a double patty burger with only ketchup, pickles, bacon, and a large fry. They put one patty with ketchup, pickles, and bacon (No bun) into two separate containers, and they gave me no fries. Then when we asked for the right order, they finally gave us the fries and they still got the order messed up. Again, the food was okay, but the service was terrible. read more

The food was fine. my problem was in the service. Immediately when I hopped in line a gentleman behind the counter in a blue shirt snapped at the cashier to stop taking orders so he could catch up. A couple minutes later a customer walked up thinking his food was ready and reached for the bag. The same employee snatched it away from the customer (out of his hands) and told him to "just wait a second." Overall I was disappointed in how this gentlemen treated his coworkers and the customers. Cashier was very slow and it didn't really appear she knew what she was doing and definitely not the friendliest. I ordered a baked potato but was told they were out. I'm currently undergoing chemo treatments so my appetite is very limited, so I opted not to order food. My husband got his order and we sat down in the lobby to eat. As we were leaving we could't help but notice a person ordering AND receiving a baked potato! It was 5:00 on a Sunday, they weren't busy but the service was poor at best :( read more

The positives are the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was served fresh. But I wouldn't go overboard in praise. The ketchup pumps were out. The Coke Freestyle machine had only a few drinks that would actually dispense. There are probably better places to go and probably worse. read more

For TWO YEARS I have avoided this Wendy's restaurant - I drive by it DAILY and just kept driving - giving my business to Arby's & BeBop's across the street. When I DID want something from Wendy's - I would drive into Des Moines to the Wendy's on Euclid. (quite a drive from Altoona JUST for 'fast food") Tonight - the temps dropped to the teens - I decided I wanted a bowl of chili. WENDYS CHILI! I drove around the building twice to see if the rude "manager" was working - didn't see one guy - all female employees and thought to myself, "well, tonight must be safe" - I ordered TWO large Chilis (one to put in the fridge for tomorrow) - pulled up to the window to find a nice lady with a pleasant smile filling my order - WHAT A CHANGE FROM TWO YEARS AGO! I asked if she was a manager - she said she was, I told her quickly how I had not been back in 2 years because of the former manager - she said, "HE was one of the first we fired..." THAT put a HUGE smile on my face! I will be returning to THIS Wendy's more often! read more

Seriously Wendy's? Serving rotten potatoes? I ordered a baked potato to go with cheese & bacon. The bacon bits were very skimpy but I could live with that. After 2 bites I discovered a huge (like the size of an eyeball) black, hard, disgusting thing in my potato. I thought of all the gross things it could be, but I settled on an extremely rotten, baked into a rock, piece of nasty potato. I have photos of both the rotten gross piece as well as my receipt. Not only will I never go to Wendy's in Altoona, IA again, I probably won't be able to eat a baked potato again. read more

I ordered a chocolate frosty. When I picked it up I was told that the chocolate was out but I could have a vanilla. I was not thrilled but ok. I got home (2.5 miles and not hot) and discovered that it was runny with 2inches of foam. This is not acceptable . In addition we were shorted food. This is not the first time it's been bad here. I called the corp number - it will not allow you to leave a message and no human call takers?!? I asked for district managers name - "cant give that personal info out" ??????????????? You can't tell me the district managers first name? REALLY? I left messages for district managers to call me back - FIVE TIMES - not one call has ever been returned. Sadly, this Wendy's is trash. Thanks to poor management. It's a wonder they are still in business. Several times have i gone through the drive through the past couple weeks , and every time it's around the same time 8 pm, their "systems are shut down and cannot take any orders" i recall once during a rush and they sent the whole line back to their homes empty handed , what kind of fast food establishment is doing this, i understand short staffed but if you continue to give b*llsh*t excuses this restaurant seems like it can only get worse, i ran the popeyes across the street just fine with 2 or 3 employees at time for hours during summer time our systems have not shut down like that. read more

I came to Wendy's with a coupon. They took it and said that it was applied, but the price never changed. This happened to a second transaction as well. I didn't notice until I was home and when I called I was told the l can't be helped if they don't have my receipt. They did not offer to send me a voucher or anything. We have been to the Wendy's in Altoona over 5 times in the past few weeks and the food has been absolutely disgusting. The chicken sandwich was not cooked all the way and was raw inside, the fries are always cold and rubbery. We had ordered the homestyle chicken sandwiches and received the hot and spicy chicken sandwiches. We are very disappointed. They say they are open but no one answers the phone... I've driven there several times when I've checked the time on line and they say they're open but when I get there g the hey say they are closed don't have enough people to work, if they don't have people to work why are they inside? Some times they hang a sign over the speaker! When they screw up they give you 30 days to use your credit up or it's no good, my money doesn't expire. I hate to be a Karen and I don't want to be associated as one. But this was the Worst service ever. I worked for Wendy's this particular Wendy's for several years. Knowing what the customer service should be. My husband and I came through tonight for supper and paid with $100 bill so they had to get the manager. Got home and realized that the chicken sandwich I had ordered was not in the bag instead it was a burger. I called the store to speak to the manager. His response to me was "And what would you like me to do about it" I said well could you please replace it for me. His response was well if you're going to want a new sandwich you're going to need to bring me the old one. Completely rude and wanted me to return a sandwich from my hand to the store during a pandemic. I was completely floored at the lack of customer service this manager had. We have always enjoyed Wendy's however twice lately we stoped in TWICE for just a refreshing FROSTY. Each time they serviced us a somewhat warm frothy mix. Calling them and complaining they told me when they serve allot of them this is happens. REALY ! Why sell them then can't you wait for the FROTHY machine to recover. The employees need to learn how to not make their conversations the publics knowledge. The lady Susana first of all was starting to take my order and while I was talking her friends walked in and she started to hold a conversation with them while finishing my order. I should've asked her if she wanted me to move as she was talking around me. Later her and another employee were bitching about their boss and you could see the 6 tables of people all turned to listen to their bitch fest. Trust me I bet the guy in the bathroom even heard it. While typing this I realize that when she talks I can't hear your music playing... and I'm on the opposite side of the room. As for food. I went to this Wendy's and their service was absolutely terrible. I ordered the Baconater with cheese lettuce and bacon only. You think that would be pretty easy to do it right? We'll apparently to them they can't do that because I had to take my food back up to the counter 4 times before they finally got it right. I had to literally stand there and watch them make it. They offered me a snack size frosty but don't you think if you mess up 4 times they would offer you a little more like your money back or something and not something that's 99¢. Then the people that ordered behind us waited over 25 minutes for their food and it was wrong. Then there was somebody in line and she had a drink and she accidentally spilled it and the lady at the register saw it happen and it took her a good 15 minutes to do anything about it then all she did was put a Wet floor sign out she didn't mop it up for about another 10 minuets.
