Absolute Health Hazard - Served Someone Else's Car Food I…read moreordered dine-in here around 1:00 PM on Father's Day (Order #0052: patty melt, onion rings, sweet potato fries, and a hot dog). While the staff wasn't outwardly rude, the blatant disregard for basic food safety and hygiene was shocking. The cashier accidentally rang my order up as "to-go" instead of "for here." Honest mistake, no big deal. However, they accidentally handed my order to another couple who was picking up a to-go order. That couple walked completely out of the restaurant, took my food into their personal vehicle, and sat in their car with it. The employee realized the mistake, ran out to the parking lot, and retrieved the food from their car. Instead of remaking my meal from scratch, the staff brought the food back into the kitchen, replated it, and served it to my girlfriend and me. This is an absolute health code violation. Once food leaves the building and enters a stranger's vehicle, it is contaminated. We have no idea what happened to that food inside their car. To make matters worse, because it had been sitting in steam-trapped to-go boxes in someone else's car, the sweet potato fries and onion rings were completely soggy when they finally got to our table. Serving contaminated, poorly handled food just to avoid the cost of remaking an order is disgusting and unacceptable. We will not be returning.

At some point, we lost count on the songs, as one blended into another and each sounded just like the one before it. Hey, it was Thursday and he was a local putting himself out there for us to listen to. It's nice to have live entertainment during dinner and the background music was just background enough. Our seats were near the bar at the high top tables that gave a commanding view of the stage and bar area. The place was crowded for a Thursday night, filled with regulars enjoying the food and ambiance this century old building exudes in spades. Much like the breakfast menu we enjoyed a few weeks ago, our meals were almost identical. We both enjoyed the Reuben sandwich for our dinner. I personally wished it had more kraut, but the corned beef was tender and flavorful. I had added the sweet potato fried and we shared the cheesy fries as an appetizer. Cheesy fries do not do it justice. They were coated with more than enough cheese, accented with chopped onions and other herbs that added flavor and texture. Our waitress was wonderful and explained anything we had a question about during our meal order. I had an amber beer with dinner that really accented the reuben nicely. All in all, the dinner service was as enjoyable as our venture in there for breakfast. They also had a huge wine selection. I stayed at the Hyatt for a banquet with the Fred Astaire dance studios. It was a great weekend and before heading home on Sunday morning I wanted a nice breakfast. The Brisket Hash was delicious and I added some extra bacon! There's not much to say in terms of service, it's like a combination food hall and ghost kitchen where you order off a tablet, get a number and food comes out to you from a big shared kitchen in the back. They're speedy and got my order right so no complaints. As for their halal smashburgers, they were delicious. Pricey yes, but considering how many other halal spots were open around here at the time, definitely a solid choice for the locals. They had a few other options included fries which were enjoyable as well. So here's hoping they come back to Conroe in the future, because if they do I'll be the first one there to get another Smashburger Combo!
