As far as fast food joints go, Wendy's is usually a decent choice for burgers, nuggets, and even surprisingly good salads. Over the years, I've found this location to be fairly consistent with service and food prep. Cordial employees and eats come out pretty "picture perfect" [~90% of the time). Leaving Lake T and desire a bite? Yeah, I recommend.

I wish I could give zero stars. We were served raw chicken sandwiches one Friday night in Nov 2021 at the drive through window. Both my husband and I took a bite before we realized. I understand mistakes happen, but I made many attempts to reach out to Wendy's for a refund or even some explanation or apology ... even a couple of frosty coupons might have appeased me. Each time I contacted them, corporate assured me that a GM would get in touch but they never did. Once they even insisted that someone had already called me and left a voicemail so I'm not sure if the GM lied to corporate because I didn't have any voicemails from them. I have learned since then that this is not an isolated incident. I've heard from many people who have been served raw chicken or even raw hamburgers at this location. They could have made us very sick and I at least expected a phone call or email to apologize, but they seem to have no concern for their customers and are completely negligent in allowing people to cook for them that can't ensure safe temperatures of their food. In the end I had to dispute the charge on my credit card to get my meal refunded and I also made a report with Texas health and human services and they said they were sending out a health inspector. I rarely eat fast food, but I may never eat Wendy's again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Luis handing out mini Frostees to our car club!

OK, so we didn't eat at Wendy's in Lakeway. Our car club was supposed to meet at the Starbucks across the parking lot. We had just participated in the Texas Independence Day Parade in downtown Austin. We were here just to pick up some members that didn't want to do the parade but attend the pie crawl afterwards. That's desert pie folks; heading immediately to Marble Falls AKA Bluebonnet Cafe as our first stop. Out of NOWHERE perhaps in the spirit of Wendy's founder Dave Thomas himself a guy named Luis was handing out mini Frosty's to our entire group! Kinda feel sad we couldn't dine there but our club was on a mission for pie in the Hill Country. Our group was appreciative of the mini desserts while we waited to roll out. Well done Wendy's Lakeway team; Gracias Muchas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What really blew my mind was that the server told me we couldn't sub the toast on the breakfast plate with the tres leches French toast bc it wouldn't "taste right together". I'm now immediately put off because what kinda flavor yall have on your food to where sweet and savory don't go together. So we ordered masala chai, the mango lassi smoothie, breakfast potatoes and bacon. The chai and smoothie were both very disappointing. I love masala chai and drink it often enough to know that this chai tasted heavily watered down even thought it was freshly made. The smoothie didn't taste like mango at all, it tasted like mostly like nothing with a side of banana and oats. I wish they had the ingredients on the menu because my man wouldn't have ordered it if he knew there were bananas in it. The breakfast potatoes were pretty good after adding salt and pepper and the bacon was the best thing out of what we got. It was flavorful. Overall, not impressed with this place.

The League Tavern is a gastropub…read more "Gastropub". That word is so 2010's. A decade ago calling yourself a "gastropub" was the coolest thing in the hospitality industry. Now, it is a lost artifact of another decade, along with Swedish House Mafia and Britney Spears. The League calls itself a retro reminder of the eating clubs of the 1920's and 1930's. It is pretty damm good as a gastropub. It would not really want to be an eating club of the Prohibition era. Menus in that era could be pretty awful. Mashed parsnips. Liver and onions. Greens that have been cooked to death. Tough steaks. Low quality lager beer. The Indian Puddings were all right. The fish was great if it was fresh. I wish they would bring back Welsh Rarebit. But the League sticks to a contemporary menu ... And I am glad they do. Their contemporary dishes are just great. I had a faro salad with grilled shrimp on top. The faro salad was everything I would want a grain salad to be. (I have had some awful tabboulehs and quinoa salads in my time.) The shrimp were completely lovely. Prices are high - but that is what comes with being a gastropub. The concept is: Pay more. Eat higher quality. The Lakeway market will certainly support the League in the prices it wants to charge. The selection on the menu - and for that matter the selection at the bar - is fairly restricted. Having a small menu is not a necessary correlate of being a gastropub. Some gastropubs offer you an expansive range of choices. But careful management of the menu choices means that each and every dish can be polished to a high degree of execution finesse. Practice makes perfect. My guess is that the League envisions itself as a neighborhood place - albeit a rich neighborhood place. Their customers are likely to be regulars. The regulars order their favorite dishes over and over. I myself like my bars and grills to be Cheaper, Funkier and With bigger selections on the menu and at the bar itself. So the League is not exactly my style. But what they do, they do well. They are expanding, opening more branches in more locations. They can do this because the League fills a real need in the Lakeway-Bee Cave market. If a Lakeway resident were to invite me to be their guest at the League Tavern, I would be happy to accept that invitation. Especially if they were picking up the check.

And said my name, I was trying to get to my text message with my receipt, she already had my bag and was walking back to me. Super quick service. By the time I got home, Urg, traffic on 620, seriously!! The food was warm/hot, so I heated it up for a couple minutes in the toaster oven. The macaroni is actually big shells, and I love that cause the cheese gets inside of the shell and it's cheesy gooey. Cheese was fantastic. Really enjoyed the Mac. Brussels sprouts I feel were just steamed. They didn't have that chard crispy outside. Just plan steamed sprouts. My small meal was delicious. Hoping to actually eat inside and have a cocktail.

A younger female employee with a long dark ponytail brought our food over, I think she was a food runner - but she wasn't wearing the Vivel branded t shirt like the other employees. When my husband politely asked for ketchup, she visibly rolled her eyes before bringing it. When I then asked if I could please have a knife (I'm seven months pregnant, for context), she started to walk to get one, took two steps, turned back and said "you can go get it yourself". It felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, especially given how quiet the café was at the time. We stayed for a while after and watched her standing by the counter organizing utensils, so it wasn't a matter of being too busy. We really like this place and will continue coming back, but this interaction stood out in a negative way and didn't reflect the level of service we've experienced before.

OMG, let me just say they turned out insanely delicious. I always buy my beef, chicken, pork, etc., at HEB and I usually get the "Prime 1" category of steaks and burgers. I always thought my steaks and burgers were good but now that I have had real, fresh cut butcher shop steaks I will never go back to grocery store meat again. The difference in quality was very apparent. The steaks I chose were thick filet mignons (tenderloin), about 2 inches thick. Every bite was perfect, not a single bit of fat, chewiness or toughness. It was of the same quality you'd get at a fine dining steakhouse downtown. I also bought a pound of ground beef, a pack of wagyu hot dogs and some beef jerky but have not tried them yet. They had some gigantic cooked meatballs on display that I have my eye on for another night. The various types of marinated chicken breasts looked really good too. In addition to the meats they have a wall of interesting dry goods like sauces, chips, etc., and a cold section of prepared side dishes as well. Pricewise, if you usually buy the HEB basic beef and chicken like their Hill Country Fare line or the tubes of ground beef, then the meat at the butcher shop will be significantly more expensive. On the other hand, if you usually buy the more pricey Prime 1 or Organic Grass Fed lines of beef and the Mary's Free Range Heirloom chicken or Central Market Organic Air-Chilled Chicken, then the prices here are quite comparable, in some cases even less. They run complete meal specials and deals on their website and they offer a loyalty card program you can join for free to get more discounts.
