    Raw Spicy Chicken Sandwich
    Kristin W.

I wish I could give zero stars. We were served raw chicken sandwiches one Friday night in Nov 2021 at the drive through window. Both my husband and I took a bite before we realized. I understand mistakes happen, but I made many attempts to reach out to Wendy's for a refund or even some explanation or apology ... even a couple of frosty coupons might have appeased me. Each time I contacted them, corporate assured me that a GM would get in touch but they never did. Once they even insisted that someone had already called me and left a voicemail so I'm not sure if the GM lied to corporate because I didn't have any voicemails from them. I have learned since then that this is not an isolated incident. I've heard from many people who have been served raw chicken or even raw hamburgers at this location. They could have made us very sick and I at least expected a phone call or email to apologize, but they seem to have no concern for their customers and are completely negligent in allowing people to cook for them that can't ensure safe temperatures of their food. In the end I had to dispute the charge on my credit card to get my meal refunded and I also made a report with Texas health and human services and they said they were sending out a health inspector. I rarely eat fast food, but I may never eat Wendy's again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Luis handing out mini Frostees to our car club!

OK, so we didn't eat at Wendy's in Lakeway. Our car club was supposed to meet at the Starbucks across the parking lot. We had just participated in the Texas Independence Day Parade in downtown Austin. We were here just to pick up some members that didn't want to do the parade but attend the pie crawl afterwards. That's desert pie folks; heading immediately to Marble Falls AKA Bluebonnet Cafe as our first stop. Out of NOWHERE perhaps in the spirit of Wendy's founder Dave Thomas himself a guy named Luis was handing out mini Frosty's to our entire group! Kinda feel sad we couldn't dine there but our club was on a mission for pie in the Hill Country. Our group was appreciative of the mini desserts while we waited to roll out. Well done Wendy's Lakeway team; Gracias Muchas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was seated in about the middle of the restaurant along the wall. I love these seats cause you can see the coffee station and what's going on back there. Basically people watching. It was a little loud today, so I put on my head set and listened to some music. My server was Joyce and she was sweet. Took my order, which was breakfast tacos and a pineapple mimosa. My drink came super quick, and my food didn't take long at all. I mean like a couple minutes quick. Tacos were outstanding. And honestly as soon as I asked for a corn tortilla over the flour I thought, they're going to fall apart. But they didn't. And when you see the size of these tacos it will blow your mind that they didn't. Good corn tortilla. Scrambled eggs are fluffy, the potatoes are seasoned a little. They added bacon for me a that was chopped up inside the taco. Honestly it was a lot of food. I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it. But I did, and enjoyed every bite.

But I couldn't come to a place like this and not try the coffee. They do the little latte art thing, which is always a nice touch. I also really appreciate that they serve drinks in actual glassware. I'm just not into drinking hot coffee out of plastic lids and paper cups if I can avoid it. Everything came out great. The latte was smooth and flavorful. The burger hit the spot. Nothing over the top, just fresh and well put together. The place was clean, bright, and had a relaxed vibe. Definitely felt welcoming without trying too hard. No complaints. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll for sure stop by.

The League Tavern is a gastropub…read more "Gastropub". That word is so 2010's. A decade ago calling yourself a "gastropub" was the coolest thing in the hospitality industry. Now, it is a lost artifact of another decade, along with Swedish House Mafia and Britney Spears. The League calls itself a retro reminder of the eating clubs of the 1920's and 1930's. It is pretty damm good as a gastropub. It would not really want to be an eating club of the Prohibition era. Menus in that era could be pretty awful. Mashed parsnips. Liver and onions. Greens that have been cooked to death. Tough steaks. Low quality lager beer. The Indian Puddings were all right. The fish was great if it was fresh. I wish they would bring back Welsh Rarebit. But the League sticks to a contemporary menu ... And I am glad they do. Their contemporary dishes are just great. I had a faro salad with grilled shrimp on top. The faro salad was everything I would want a grain salad to be. (I have had some awful tabboulehs and quinoa salads in my time.) The shrimp were completely lovely. Prices are high - but that is what comes with being a gastropub. The concept is: Pay more. Eat higher quality. The Lakeway market will certainly support the League in the prices it wants to charge. The selection on the menu - and for that matter the selection at the bar - is fairly restricted. Having a small menu is not a necessary correlate of being a gastropub. Some gastropubs offer you an expansive range of choices. But careful management of the menu choices means that each and every dish can be polished to a high degree of execution finesse. Practice makes perfect. My guess is that the League envisions itself as a neighborhood place - albeit a rich neighborhood place. Their customers are likely to be regulars. The regulars order their favorite dishes over and over. I myself like my bars and grills to be Cheaper, Funkier and With bigger selections on the menu and at the bar itself. So the League is not exactly my style. But what they do, they do well. They are expanding, opening more branches in more locations. They can do this because the League fills a real need in the Lakeway-Bee Cave market. If a Lakeway resident were to invite me to be their guest at the League Tavern, I would be happy to accept that invitation. Especially if they were picking up the check.

I ordered a double meat, double cheese burger with pickles, mayonnaise, and bacon, and it was phenomenal. The bacon was cooked perfectly--crispy, not greasy at all, mild, and full of flavor. The meat was tender, juicy, and incredibly succulent, with an amazing taste. Every ingredient came together perfectly. The milkshake was completely different from anything I've had before. It was whipped and very fluffy--light, smooth, and nothing like the heavy milkshakes you get at fast-food restaurants. It was delicious and paired perfectly with the burger. Perfectly grilled, double patty, with grilled onions, bacon, and cheese. I loved the seasoning that they put on the fries! They have 3 special sauces... their special sauce (to me was kind of a mix of ketchup/mayo/thousand island type of vibe), one that is more of a honey mustard feel, and the other is a more peppered version of the first one. My favorite was the peppered one. It was great to dip fries in and I also topped my burger with that too! They have beer and wine on tap. They have an outside, fenced in play set for kids, with outdoor seating. What's more to love? Great burger place, with drinks, and a place for your kids to play? Can't beat it!!

The food is consistently good, and most of the staff have always been incredibly sweet, welcoming, and helpful. That said, we had a really disappointing experience during our last visit that felt worth sharing. A younger female employee with a long dark ponytail brought our food over, I think she was a food runner - but she wasn't wearing the Vivel branded t shirt like the other employees. When my husband politely asked for ketchup, she visibly rolled her eyes before bringing it. When I then asked if I could please have a knife (I'm seven months pregnant, for context), she started to walk to get one, took two steps, turned back and said "you can go get it yourself". It felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, especially given how quiet the café was at the time. We stayed for a while after and watched her standing by the counter organizing utensils, so it wasn't a matter of being too busy. We really like this place and will continue coming back, but this interaction stood out in a negative way and didn't reflect the level of service we've experienced before.
