I went in today to get a massage and I loved it! I originally went in to get a one hour relaxation massage and I was told that if I wanted my session to be more deep tissue, I should try the Tui Na or the Chinese Deep Tissue but I had gone in on a budget and decided then to upgrade to the Swedish massage for one hour. I went into the private room and I loved that they have you take your shoes off at the front. The place looked very clean and kept up very well. I had Amy and she began with different levels of pressure and let me know that I had a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders. She asked me if it was too strong or not strong enough and after she established my pain tolerance, she advised me to do the Tui Na for 1/2 an hour instead so she could focus on those areas with deep technique. I decided to upgrade because those were really my problem spots (neck/shoulders). I liked how she felt me out and let me know what she thought was best because who knows until they try right? She did a fantastic job and really catered to my pressure tolerance and pain tolerance. I'm feeling sore now but anticipated this with a deep tissue massage. They offered me water afterwards and were so kind. They also have a stampcard which I thought was pretty cool. After so many you get a free massage. I will definitely be going back! read more

My boyfriend recently had a back injury and I took him to get a massage as a surprise gift. I told the ladies that I wanted one of the mid priced massages. They kept trying to get me to do the more expensive package in the $80 zone. But, being a college student and on a budget I just passed for the $40-50 one. When my boyfriend got there they took him in the back...when he got out it came to around $80 and I was shocked. I guess when he was back there they showed him a short piece of what the one I picked was and then showed him a piece of the more expensive one. (they didn't tell him the price or anything) Well obviously he's going to pick the nicer more expensive one. I will never go there again because I specifically said I couldn't really afford the more expensive one. So I ended up having to take money for another more important bill out of my bank account to pay for the massage. read more

First time going to Wendys. They asked me to make a choice from their menu of different massages, chose one that cost about $35. The woman was very nice, worked pretty hard though I wanted the Relaxing massage, not a deep one or knot-grinder. Couldn't quite get her to go easy, pretty painful. I think most of her customers must want this or maybe it takes more force most of the time, She put in some work. When it came time to pay she charged me nearly $60. Gotta say, I felt kind of tricked. If you use these people, make it very clear what you want, they're tricky. Sorry to say, I won't be a repeat customer. read more

I have been to Wendy's Massage several times. They provide an amazing Tui Na massage which is everything a good massage should be. Wendy provides enough pressure to get tense spots out without causing any pain. They are great at getting you in with short notice. I have also had the couples massage before which was great as well. Massage was wonderful, environment was nice and clean. Only thing was, my boyfriend and I did a 60 minute massage and for about 20 minutes of the time our massage therapists were talking on and off. It was slightly frustrating. But all in all a great place. read more

This was the first professional massage I had ever received. I went here because I study Chinese Mandarin and wanted to have an authentic experience of Chinese culture. I made an appointment the day before, so I didn't even need to wait 5 minutes. I had a 1-hour session with Wendy. Honestly I don't even remember which of the massages I received, but whatever it was it was excellent. When she told me the hour was up, I couldn't believe how fast time went by. I had a three day high after my treatment. I've been struggling with sport/work related discomfort for a little over a year. I have had two rounds of physical therapy and several chiropractic appointments. My mom purchased this massage for me for my birthday last December. My friend talked me into a girl day and we booked our appointments. I had never experienced a Chinese massage and was looking forward to it. After arriving, we were asked several questions about our discomfort and areas we'd like addressed. They asked if we'd like to add any additional treatment to our session. We opted for cupping. Call me crazy but IT HURT SO GOOD! Several times during the massage I was hurting and during the cupping there was some pain. However, after we left, we went for lunch. Both of us discussing how we would most likely nap. I went hope and felt amazing. I was wide awake, I felt elated. I had a smile the entire day.(my friend confirmed similar feelings) the next day I woke up early. I was sooooo productive in my day from 7am until 10pm. Called my friend to check on her, she too, was super productive. She shared with me that she will generally nap every single day and she was on day two without a nap. I've also had trouble sleeping the past several months. Since the massage, I have slept soundly and I wake feeling refreshed. In my opinion Wendy of Wendy's massage gives the best massage in chico. I spent 2 years getting massages for a back injury and was always disappointed and sometimes hurt more than before going to the place. I happened upon Wendy's because they are open after 5 and haven't never been satisfied with anyone else since. She is always very courteous and thorough and has a way of seeking out troubling areas. I prefer a deep tissue pressure point type of massage and haven't been able to find it anywhere else. I can't vouch for any of the other ladies as I only see Wendy who is the owner. I have referred a few friends and also given a few gift certificates to Wendy. She is highly recommended by me anyday read more

I agree with one of the previous reviews, that their specialty massage is marvelous, but there doesn't seem to be an in-between for their hard-pressure massage and their relaxation massage. I asked for a medium pressure, medium-priced massage and she mostly gently rubbed oil on my back and then barely applied any pressure, I asked her to put more pressure and then she insisted that any more than that was more (the tui na). After a few miserable minutes of light, quick pinches of my back, I gave up and told her to do the tui na, it quickly went from 2 to 10 in pressure and, though it was a little hard, it was a good massage. Between the massages, I only recommend the tui na, anything else doesn't seem worth the money. read more

My husband and I have massages frequently when we travel so I feel like an experienced voice. When at home near Chico, we ALWAYS go to Wendys. Before finding them we tried 5 different places. All were a let down for one reason or another. From price to lack of professionalism. We have always found Wendys to be pleasant, clean, professional and the cost is reasonable. I feel that the therapist try to match the service with your needs. I used to request Swedish massage because I do not like deep tissue, I bruise easily and it hurts! Tu Nai is great because it is only as deep as that area needs. Your therapist can not read your mind and you must tell them what you want . I find that all the ladies that work there communicate very well, yes their English can be a little weak in some areas, but they thoroughly understand what you are asking for. Most know plenty of English to carry on a pleasant conversation. One time the 2 girls began to whisper a little , I simply said shhhhhh, and they apologized and were silent. As with any job, a certain amount of conversation must take place. This is a great place with great people that truly care for clients! I recommend it OFTEN! read more

Dont let any of the other choices fool you, you will end up upgrading to tui na! There are several good and several bad things about this place. Good: we were able to get in last minute mother's day weekend for a couple's massage. The massage was very good and the place was nice and clean. Bad: the relaxation and Swedish massage are so light you have no choice but to get tui na. I went in for swedish but after being on the table 2 minutes she suggested i upgrade to tui na because swedish was too light.They are overpriced for a walk in type place in Chico $58 each for 1 hour. Since we got a couple's massage there were 2 therapist in the room that talked in Chinese through our whole massage. We HATED that but it wasnt enough to give a bad review because the massage was really good. Overall I wish I could give 3 1/2 stars but I have to just give 3 cause of the talking and the lack of choices for massage other than tui na. I would go back again but I would go alone to avoid the talking situation read more
