Dave's Single - Everything's Improved, but the Beef.
    Gerald S.

This Wendy's in the corner of Morrisville Plaza was renovated a few years ago, and has a nice look and feel. It is a smaller shop, with minimalist décor, but clean and highly functional. The hours are from 11:00 am to 2:00 am, although the hours presently on Yelp incorrectly state it closes at two in the afternoon. It has a wrap around take out lane that requires drivers and pedestrians to be careful approaching the front door. Very easy to ignore the vehicles coming from the left, or walkers in front of you while stowing a bag of nosh. Service is fine at the counter. There is no doubt that Wendy is attempting to up its game in order to compete with the fast casual burger crowd. Most ingredients are fresh, and the new basic roll is an order of magnitude better than the old one. It holds together throughout eating, and has a pleasant flavor. The only remaining issue is the quality of the beef patty. Its taste and texture appear the same as the old version, which is to say that it is somewhat mealy (frozen), and lacking any real verve in taste, and juiciness. It still seems flat and uninspired. So, the key to enjoyment is keeping the package together while consuming, with the fresh onion, lettuce and cheese can dominate the experience. As a whole, the burger is just okay, although an improvement over its predecessor, it has a long road to travel until it can stand next to its cousins at Red Robin, Cheeburger, or even your local corner tavern.

Proportions were definitely off. The thick cut french fries were perfectly done with a nice crunch. The service was extremely friendly, however it lacked a little bit of detail. We were never offered refills on the drinks and empty plates sat for prolonged periods. We waited far too long for the check, but they were kind enough to provide a complimentary birthday dessert. The live music was a wonderful touch and I loved listening. Great atmosphere but small details could be fixed. I foresee this place blossoming as it figures out small issues.

While there weren't very many Yelp reviews, it was the virtually perfect Google reviews that drew me in for a meal. The interior dining area is tasteful and bright, but also pretty no frills (in other words, not fancy). We started off with a cup of pasta fagioli soup and an order of garlic bread with cheese, and went with a large pizza and chicken parmigiana w/penne vodka for our meals. While the soup, garlic bread, chicken parmigiana, and pasta were all solid, the clear stand out was their pizza. It had the perfect dough to make for a flavorful chewy crust combined with a combination of high quality cheese and tomato sauce to make for a delicious and memorable pizza experience. It definitely met my high standards which I set for pizzerias that I'd regularly frequent. Service was excellent as Salvatore checked in on us several times to ensure everything was to our liking and took the time to chat with us out his family history of pizza making in the area, pointing out the wooden pizza peels on the wall. He's from Sicily and if you dine in, you can see him masterfully spinning the dough during the pizza preparation. Both Salvatore and the other employee on duty were very cordial and seemed genuinely appreciative of our business. While I'd probably skip over the pasta dishes and go straight for their delicious pizza next time, I'll definitely be back to Bella Sicily and would recommend them to others for a tasty and high quality pizza experience.

During nicer weather they have a newer outdoor seating area. The staff was prompt and friendly. There were a couple of large TV's with sports playing on both sides of the bar and the interior of the building was open and inviting with tasteful decor. On my first visit I took advantage of their taco Tuesday special. You can order any combo of chicken, steak or shrimp tacos for $2 each and $5 margaritas. I tried one taco of each, Mexican style and enjoyed them. The roja and verde sauces that came on the side gave a nice kick. The tacos were pretty authentic, sizable and had fresh ingredients. I would order them again. For a drink I had their bourbon neat. It's young (no age statement) and just a mixing bourbon. The bottle states that it is distilled in Missouri, but bottled in Yardley. There was nothing complex about it and it's fine for cocktails, but I wouldn't buy a bottle of it. On my second visit, the bartender recommended I try the Skillet Burger - $18 with cooper sharp & served on a sizzling skillet with fries, queso, chopped bacon, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños & scallion. It came out sizzling and was pretty darn good. It made some patrons heads turn and peaked their curiosity. It was a big portion and fresh. The fries with the toppings were good. I would order it again. For a drink I had the Smoked Old Fashioned - YD bourbon, bitters, turbinado, bourbon cherry @ an orange wheel. The bartender brought my drink over with a cocktail smoker and wood chips and finished "smoking it". I thought it was pretty good with mostly cherry and orange coming through with some bitters, smoke from the oak chips and sugar. The vibe here was great and the crowd was extremely diverse. I would say this is a great place to bring friends, coworkers, have a family gathering, date or the family, etc. Both bathrooms were clean on my visits. The other Tex Mex offerings on the menu sound delicious. I'm not a dessert guy, but they have several that look tempting. I'd definitely return here. Thanks guys!!

A friend recently moved to Morrisville and I found myself in the area at lunchtime after a visit. I wanted to try a few things but it looked as though the steak was a big one, so I just had that. The fries that came with it were very good too. As was foretold, the steak was one of the best I've had in years. Let me start with the roll, long seeded torp that had a light toasting. ALL steaks should be so lucky as to have this as a delivery vehicle, most sandwiches too. The beef was tender and nicely seasoned and cheese and onions were evenly distributed throughout. The portion size/cost was very fair, this was 2 meals for me. My only critique would be on the Cooper American cheese used. I would prefer a sharper cheese, Cooper sharp or even provolone. I'll inquire if there are other options. Even if there weren't, I'd still get this anytime. I saw several other lunch items of interest to me, and in the right frame of mind and early enough several breakfast options too. Service was friendly and fast. I'll likely be back next for the shrimp tacos, or just another steak. I'm at a 4.5 with just the one visit, stay tuned....

Then when the pizzeria sign when up with a Mexican sombrero on it, I remained hopeful because a nearby pizza shop (Trent City in Trenton) does both Latin food and pizza very well. Sadly, that is not the case here, and this is only a pizza shop with a confusing sombrero on their logo. The restaurant is run by Latinos in the kitchen, but what restaurant isn't?? On to the food! We came and ordered some pizza slices, fries, fried ribs, mozzarella sticks and the STAR OF THE SHOW - a Flat Burger. The flat burger intrigued me simply from the name, and I'm so glad we ordered it. It was the perfect burger, grilled like an old school diner, loaded with veggies and their one of kind sauce. Come here and get this burger. I won't bore you with the pizza and mozzarella stick review, they were solid. The fried ribs had good seasoning on them, but I need sauce for my ribs. If they offered a side sauce that was unique to them, this could be a huge hit. We had come to the bar that used to be here and that has been scrubbed and remodeled into the nicest looking pizza shop. It was all very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. I wish them lots of success and hopefully they keep playing with the menu to make them stand out from the other pizza shops in town.
