I was pleasantly surprised how good Primo Hoagies is. I ordered from the yelp app and picked up my roast pork with provolone and broccoli rabe. It was excellent!!b I was thrilled to find the bread very crispy outside like good Brooklyn style Italian bread. The pork was tasty and tender with sharp cheese and just enough funk from the broccoli rabe. Since I ordered from the yelp app the sandwich was ready and waiting for me to pick it up. It was quick and easy. This place is nice, it's a sandwich shop but I was in and out so fast I didn't even take the place in. I can say the guy who helped me was a nice fellow. Ok...kinda done with Primo. Shame bc I like their hoagies and my issue is not with their food. Just a disconnect with their marketing that has me annoyed. Every week I get a $3. off hoagie promo emailed to me for a Wednesday deal. Each week I think about doing it and finally on Wednesday I stopped in for that deal. I ordered my hoagie and went to pay but the $3 was not taken off. I questioned that and was told I am not a member of their club. I asked the obvious..."so why am I getting these promos?" It lured me in here afterall. I would not have known about the $3 savings otherwise. I was disappointed that they refused to take the $3 off my sandwich. I believe it is a free membership and the guy never even explained how to become a member even after I asked. Well, I was very annoyed about this and just canceled my order. It really isn't about the $3 dollars as much as it is the way a customer feels as a valued and appreciated customer. That store never seems busy...and for $3 they lost me. It costs a lot more money to gain a customer. Shame on the counter guy. Last time I was there they refused to give me a curtesy water. That never sat well with me either. At least I found a good tuna hoagie nearby. read more

After years of quality food and service, I have seen a significant drop-off in the latter, specifically as it relates to my last four orders of two sandwiches, all of which were incorrect in some way. While the quality of the meat, cheese, toppings and rolls is consistently good, the success of bringing them all together correctly has been a toss-up. Sandwiches missing cheese, lettuce or hot peppers when they were requested or sandwiches including onions, tomatoes and oil when they should have been left off. Tried to order a hoagie try for 20+ people and website says to call 24hrs ahead of time- called multiple times and every time the girl hung up on me or put the phone on hold and never picked up again. Hoagies are great but it doesn't appear you can get a catering order in by phone. read more

The "girl" at the counter was both defensive and had attitude when I asked why no one was answering the phone. She said she was "busy" and wouldn't keep people on hold for 5 minutes. I said ok and asked if I should just leave my order on the answering machine and she said no it was better to just come in. Considering I work in the area and do not have a long lunch break, this wasn't great on the customer service side and may cause some people to go elsewhere. That having been said, the place was nice and well maintained. There were about 8 other people in the place and the food was very good. I will come back as long as I have the time. My rating would have been higher but the wait time was a little long and the desk left me in an off mood. read more

Tried sitting down for a quick bite with my 2 year old girl. On the TV was a show with girls in thongs twerking and giving people lap dances. Not something I want my child seeing while we try to have a nice dinner before going to the park. It's a primos, the food is the food. If you have to get it, at least get it to go. read more

If you want your sandwich done right make sure you order it there and then watch them make it. I can forgive making an order wrong once, or twice but it has now been 5 times in a row. I have tried calling and ordering, using the app etc. And yet they still cannot get it right. I'm not ordering weird sandwiches from scratch. I'm ordering right off the menu with some items already included on the side. Then there are the times they just put the wrong cheese, or meat on it. I don't think I am ever going to this one again. Needed to post this review as soon as possible because everyone needs to know how horrible this location of Primo Hoagies really is. My wife called in at 3pm on Super Bowl Sunday (busiest pizza and hoagie day of the year). They told her they are not longer taking orders for the day. At 3pm!! On Super Bowl Sunday!!! I assume the following occurred: 1. Whoever owns/manages this location of Primos is a horrible businessperson; and 2. Whoever orders the food is horrible at their job (probably the same person that owns the place). They lost a good customer (defined as spending over $400+ a year). It's a shame because Primo makes good food. But as they say.... "You come for the food... and stay for the service." See ya Primo Newtown!!! read more

I work in Newtown and live nearby. I've had primo's a bunch of times, and I just got back from there. I'm eating a Mild sharp Italian as I write this. It's delicious, high quality, fresh everything, awesome roll, etc. But that's not even why I took the time to log on and write this. It's because the people working there were so pleasant, professional, upbeat. and the service was excellent. The cashier in many retail purchase situations is the face of the business and she was so nice, patient, (my gift card had only .78 cents on it) generous (gave me two free sides of pickles when I was too frugal to buy a large deli pickle I had inquired about) and upbeat positive attitude. PS. I'd ignore the 1 star review from the guy who called at 3pm on SuperBowl Sunday. read more

Eat at alot of primos, this was one of my best experiences, great staff full sandwiches no skimping here, now my favorite location. (Got food here weekday lunch) I personally got a great Philly cheese steak wit wiz of course, wife got an Italian, son got a Schwartz swartzie? Idk how to spell it. i've been going to the primo's in newtown since it opened. 99% of the time never had a compliant or an issue. today i went there to get 2 steak sandwiches. i was driving on the road and tried to call the store to place my order. after 89 tries and over 10 minutes i got no answer. so i went into the store to place my order. when i went inside i expected to see a lot of customers. i saw 4 people waiting. but only 2 people working the store. i placed my order and it was ready within 20 minutes. i ordered 2 primo size pizza steaks. one with fried onions,sauce,american cheese and pickles. the second one with provolone cheese, sauce and pickles on a seed less roll. what i got was one with mozzarella cheese and one with american cheese. no onions on either one both on seed less rolls. i did not call the store because i figures no one would answer since the entire drive to the store and my wait in the store the phone rang and no one answered. the sandwiches were still the same quality but having worked in the food industry myself and in retail for over 35 years you usually learn a lesson: if you need 3 people to run the store you have 4 people working just in case someone does not show up. which is what happened here. read more

If your looking for a quick yummy bite to eat primos is the way to go! All though they are a bit pricey, you get what you pay for. I have been going here for years and the twins at the front are always outgoing and kind. They have such a positive attitude and are very welcoming to all customers. I know this place is a franchise but this particular Primo location is the worst. I put in a large order for pickup days in advance. I went to pickup and they didn't have any food prepared for my order. After a hour wait they made the food but not only were there missing items for my order;..they overcharged me! After literally a dozen phone calls over a three week period I received a $10 refund for the aggravation of being overcharge for an incorrect order that wasted my important time. I can't say enough about how horrible the staff is from upper management to front line employees. The real thing that bothered me wasn't the mistake with the food but how nobody there wanted to take ownership that someone there screwed up and nobody really cared about how to fix the issue. read more

I just had a small Sharp Italian PrimoHoagie with hot peppers. I like their hoagies because they have a good quantity of meat and the seeded bread is the best. Today, however, my bread was not seeded. In the future I have to make sure I verify that the bread is as advertised because they make a big deal about it and it was the reason I went there in the first place! read more

If there's a better sandwich place around, I don't know what it is. Good meat and ingredients with even better bread make it my top sandwich shop in the area. The Diablo sandwiches have just the right amount of spice, while the veggie sandwiches are much better than the leaves-and-eggplant sandwiches you'd get at most places. Pro tip: if you get the Primo size, it's a little more expensive than your standard sandwich, but the bread that they use for the Primo size sandwiches makes it worth it. Plus, the sandwich is big enough that you can easily make it stretch for two meals, which I'll usually do. Pro tip II: order ~30 mins in advance. These guys get a lot of business, and good sandwiches take time to make. read more

Great hoagies, great bread. Suprimo (prosciutto, red peppers, fresh mozzarella) is my favorite. Plus, when I gave up meat for Lent, their vegetarian selections are fantastic. I'd recommend the Knuckle Sandwich (sharp provolone, red peppers). Also, I've noticed that their primo (medium)- size bread is a lot yummier than the bread that they use for small hoagies. Waited 10 minutes to place an order, and another 15 for my sandwiches to get made, because employees at the front desk were taking phone orders, which to me is rude. Other restaurants have separate stations that are designated for phone orders in order to keep walk in business and traffic moving. At least tell me that they will be with me in a few minutes. Not Impressed at all - If your going to run a business take a course in customer service. Learn how to "TREAT" a customer like you want to be treated. THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT! Drove 20 minutes to pick up a $175 order prior to the Super Bowl only to arrive home and have 2/3 of the order. The condiments included were very skimpy too (10 pickles for 30 sandwiches). When I called and spoke to the owner, he refused to have the missing portion delivered or credit any more to my credit card other than just for the missing portion. He hung up on me and wasn't willing to work something out. Very inconvenient and inconsiderate with guests on their way. We won't be back there ever again and we'll tell everyone in Newtown that we know. Tell your friends!! PS. Stopped in for the first time today to pick up lunch for my dad. I called in ahead of time and ordered a Turkey Schwartzie because a fellow yelper recommended it and my dad really enjoyed it. I stole a bite of his hoagie as well so I could write a fair review :) The hoagie was packed with lots of turkey with just the right amount of provolone and coleslaw. I was told to stop in 15 minutes after the order was placed. I think I went a few minutes early, but the hoagie was ready. The establishment looked clean and tidy inside and the staff was friendly. Hoagie are the best I ever had. Service was great, the place was nice and clean, this place is the best. Highly recommend. Love having our lunch trays delivered to us for those long meeting days. Primo charges about $2 more for a hoagie than everyone else, but it is by far worth the extra two bucks. The extra quality they advertise is no lie. My favorite is the Schwartzie (corned beef, swiss, cole slaw and russian dressing) and the buffalo chicken cutlet sandwich, which has blue cheese crumbles as well as the dressing. Now down to this specific Newtown location. It's clean, well lit, and appears to be well run. I always eat my sandwich there. Decent wifi connection to play some phone games during lunch. If there was one thing I'd wish for (and this goes for any Primo I've been to) is fountain sodas instead of bottles. For some reason it tastes better to me that way. read more
