We recently reserved the patio area for a private event. The patio sits under a tent with outdoor lighting, a fire pit area and even has a space to play bags. Perfect atmosphere for a casual outdoor party! The owners were extremely accommodating from the planning stages all the way through to the end of the event. Everything went exactly as promised. We chose to serve fried pickles, ranch chips, cheese balls, toasted ravs, 6 different pizza choices, sausage and peppers and their delicious chicken wings. My guests were greeted with amazing service by the waitstaff, who constantly checked on them to be sure they had everything they needed. The place looks like it hasn't been cleaned or repaired since it was built. The chicken tenders were like rubber perfectly shaped into identical tear drop shapes and tasted like they were fried along with fish. The coleslaw tasted rotten. I will never eat here again and suggest to anyone who is brave enough to step foot through the filthy threshold to turn around immediately and find a good place to eat. read more

Calling it bar food is almost an insult. Hamburgers are awesome, ribs, fried chicken and wings are great too. I don't think I ever had a meal here that I didn't love. Drink prices are reasonable and TV's are abundant. Depending on the time of day you could see kids' sports teams, families, or groups of older adults. read more

We stopped here based on yelp suggestion. The food was good and I would say that was the good thing I experienced here. A better environment and a little bit better service will be something that will help the good food be better known to people who are not usual here and helps to spread the word. very small things but important things will help a lot, for example providing tissue and napkin on the table more than the single one that comes with the food. overall I would say that the place does have a potential to be a very famous place (the situation next to a big outlet) and just needs a little more effort to spread the good word and be a great place. :) read more

So, lived in the valley for a few years, saw the reviews and decided to give it a try. It was a disaster. Never got to try the food. Sat there for an hour, couldn't get our waitress attention because she kept running out to the patio. When we finally got her attention, she told us she forgot to put the order in. I have loved this place forever. Not a chain. No pretention. Somehow manages to cater to biz types, blue collar types and even kids sports teams. Depends on time of day. They are solidly above bar food (disagree totally with other post). Staff is small, not much turnover, so they remember even semi-regulars and service always great. This place and Annie Gunn's are the only ches. valley survivors of the 1993 flood. That says a lot. Pizzas are top notch, to the point that folks have been getting take out for years. Objectively, this is a good 3 star place. It is as others have described a good local pub. There is nothing standout on the menu and I looked for awhile trying to decide. I had potato skins and a cheeseburger pizza and both were decent. The pizza I got because it was marked as their specialty (pizza), despite the fact they don't actually make their own dough, and you could tell (which is why I asked the wait staff). Despite the frozen pizza tasting crust, they did put it together okay. The sour cream I got came in fast food type little cups which makes me question if the skins are also not made fresh (again, they were good but not great). I do like the setup with some well placed hi def TVs and mementos from a past life in racing. The staff was nice but decidedly bar staff and the majority of patrons were older men (one family in the corner and one couple my age ... which I count as older :) It was a good place to catch the ending of a cards game but don't go out of your way to go there for the food. I've been coming here since I moved out to Chesterfield 19 years ago! Now I feel like I have to review Wente's because I just had my son's HS graduation party on the patio; it was a great success! Terry (owner) and his manager Chrissy couldn't have been more accommodating. I've been living in STL pretty much my whole life and I rate their pizza top 5 in the city! If you haven't had Wente's pizza you are missing out. The wings are also phenomenal. The other must try is the chicken nitro sandwich; grilled or fried (in their awesome wing sauce) then covered with fried jalapenos and pepper jack cheese....YES! The staff takes a "tag team" approach to service so anyone can bring a drink, take an order or anything! There aren't enough places like this anymore. It's places like this that make STL special. Have enjoyed this place for years. It was a regular stop when my kids played sports in the valley. Always a great place to go for bar food. The grilled hot wings are always a treat. Pizza is thin crust with mozzarella cheese. We always order extra cheese with hamburger and pepperoni. And of course some hot wings. They are smoked and crispy. Love the bar feel and everyone is extra friendly!!! Guinness on tap at the perfect temperature. Definitely a local valley favorite. read more

Service was terrible. Asked our server to turn on a March Madness game and they told us no because people were watching the Cardinals and Blues games. Great- no awesome hamburgers!! Tasty and cooked perfectly. They also have something I have seen nowhere else- bottle caps, they are slices of jalapeño battered, deep fried and served with ranch. Worst place I have been to by far. The staff couldn't get our orders right, tried to charge us for a bill that had already been paid. Had 3 waitresses for one table none of them were nice. My wife and I had much here. It's close to her work so we stopped in. We sat ourselves and a waitress was at the table with in a minute. Drinks were brought out quickly, and our food was thee within 5 minutes. We shared a Reuben sandwich with creamy Cole slaw. Meat was very tender and very good. A small, neighborhood bar, which is always filled with regulars from the surrounding businesses. There is nothing fancy about this bar and grill, yet the easy-going atmosphere, pleasant/always smiling staff who are knowledgeable about their product, and delicious food will prompt me to return. It was extremely hot outside the day we went to Wente's for lunch, and there was obviously a faulty air-conditioning issue, but there were numerous large fans in place around the medium-sized room. The beer was cold, the service was fast and friendly, and our food was excellent. We had the chicken quesadilla and potato skins, and we shared a couple of the house specialty pizzas. The pizzas are thin and crispy, with a tangy sauce, and piled high with toppings. This pizza easily rivals the best of local St. Louis style pizzarias. I was extremely impressed that the owner was chatting easily with the customers... he was a genuinely friendly individual who enjoyed what he does...and I noticed that he quite regularly pitched-in with the staff to clear tables and even empty the trash. A business owner who will work just as hard as the staff he has hired is the mark of good management. My wife and I chatted with him briefly, and he was easy to talk with, as he made sure to personally invite us back, explaining their happy hour specials. "Wente's O&W" offered an extremely pleasant experience for my family; and it was the perfect choice to take even the kids for lunch. It did not display a typical "bar" atmosphere when we were there during the day. It was bright and friendly, with excellent food. That, combined with the genuinely nice staff and down-to-earth owner, gave us all the perfect first impression. read more
