I don't like the new location moved away from where Trader Joe's is. It's a drive thru only single atm. No way to guard entering your pin. The location is really difficult to get in and out of. It's a definite downgrade. read more

This rating is more for Wescom's legal team. I could tell this was the first time the branch manager had probably done a power of attorney so I can't blame him entirely for my experience. However, I spent an hour and a half at this location trying to get a power of attorney so I could help my father with his financial obligations while he's recovering from a stroke. The legal team rep that the branch manager was speaking to in the back was probably new. I had "correct" legal documentation but got one excuse after another as to why obtaining POA wasn't possible. I've been through this process several times with other banking institutions, with no issues. In some cases, they were impressed with the documentation I had kept. Now I have to figure out another way to find recurring bills and pay his rent. I can honestly say this was an experience I'll never forget. Updated: 1/29/2025 Wescom, this review was not meant to illicit a response from your institution. It serves as a warning to others. I will not be reaching out to the email you provided in your response below. I do not wish to speak with a representative. I'm determined to find another way for handling my fathers financial obligations while he's in the hospital since the experience I had at this branch was very defeating, at a time when my family is going through a lot. With my POA, I am considering opening up an account at a different institution and diverting his income to this new bank so I can have control over his bills. If I can, I'll close his Wescom account. As a member of this credit union overall it is good credit union to deal with. However, there are some issues. I have found out trying to go through Wescom to obtain a mortgage or insurance is a big mistake. I obtained a mortgage through them and I had nothing but problems from the start to the finish. I originally had an agent who did not follow up with me to make sure my application was properly processed. When it was approved and the paper work was ready to be signed off on, there were mistakes with the figures on the mortgage papers. In addition, I obtained insurance through the credit union covering car, homeowner, umbrella and earthquake insurance. The agent who handled my insurance needs told me she would contact the agency that handles earthquake insurance and make arrangements for me. I had insurance with them for several years thinking I was fully covered. When the company I was with decided to stop doing business in California, I had to find other insurance. When I went to cancel my insurance I had through the credit union, I unfortunately find out my home was never insured for earthquakes all those years and no one ever notified me. As a result of some of the poor experiences I have had, I would suggest to members of Wescom if you plan to get insurance or a mortgage through the credit union that you be very careful. It seems like they have agents that make mistakes. Also to Wescom management, I have fully described here what the problems are, I have nothing else to add except the manager at the Torrance branch dresses like a slob and is extremely unhelpful and unfriendly toward members using this branch. After visiting this credit union several times, I'm literally closing my account and going somewhere else. If you're looking for a completely unpersonalized big bank experience this is it. I've been banking here for just a little under 6 months but every interaction as been wonderful, up until last week when a teller by the name of OSCAR gave me a very bad experience. I was coming in to make a deposit in my account. My husband quickly came in with his shirt over his nose and mouth (because he didn't have a mask readily available). My husband was trying to communicate with me really quickly before running back out. As my husband approached, the teller immediately had an extremely bad attitude and told my husband, in these exact words, "sir, get a mask or get out". I was APPALLED. There are more diplomatic and professional ways in communicating that a mask is required versus being derogatory towards anyone. As the teller continued trying to assist me, he continued speaking to me with a nasty attitude, as if I was doing something wrong. I finally had to tell him that his attitude was uncalled for and outright rude! I asked for a manager and was able to speak with the assistant branch manager, Wanda. She took me aside and apologized for the teller's behavior. During her apology, she assured me that the teller was "one of the best". He makes the "new member calls" etc., as If that matter to me.... I'm sorry, but who cares? Am I supposed to feel better because he treats OTHER PEOPLE well? Does that justify him being absolutely rude to me and my family? ABSOLTULY NOT. A few hours later, I got a call from the branch manager (whose name I don't recall). Also apologizing and telling me the teller is really great blah blah blah. Again, WHAT does that have to do with my experience? It's okay for him to treat me that way because he treats other people nicely? I think not! On my call with the branch manager, he also told me that the teller accused my husband of communicating something negative e to him, which is absolutely false. Not only was the teller being very unprofessional, he's now telling lies and making up stories. I'm convinced that the teller's actions were RACIALLY MOTIVATED. My husband is Black and I am Asian. There's no excuse for this person's behavior. And by an old review, looks like the same teller has had issues in the past. Disappointed in how this was handled and it seems like management has no care for customers. read more

Went here the other day to deposit a check and get info on a home equity line of credit. Teller was quick, efficient and friendly. Talked to manager about home equity line rates, his name is Eli Norkin. He was super professional and very well-informed. He spent probably 1/2 hour going from A to Z regarding the home equity line. Eli made it really easy to understand how it all works. I know that I'm very well taken care of here at Wescom and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. I highly recommend coming here! read more

Lets start with 0 stars. -1 Great Day Yelpers & a huge thank you in advance to WesCom for fixing this disaster they have created. If an ATM is out of order & eating customers money, I would ASSUME that 'WesCom' employees have the decency to put a sign on the machines AT THE VERY LEAST.. However, our assumptions lead to us being terribly inconvenienced. The policy to recover these "lost funds" require a mail-in handwritten letter, and 5 days downtime, Because a contracted company is in charge of the machines, is that correct WesCom? I have no problem with your policy, seems fair considering almost EVERY bank has the same procedure, BUT WHY WAS THIS NOT AVOIDED IN THE FIRST PLACE? WHY DO MULTIPLE CUSTOMERS NEED TO BE INCONVIENCED? WAS IT TOO MUCH EFFORT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE AFTER THE 1st TIME? Your standard banking institution; only a few tellers to handle the constant line. But the ppl are friendly and make it easy to handle your transactions...you don't need to fill out the withdraw/deposit...paperwork, you just tell them what you need to do and bam! you're done. Parking can get hectic because it's shared with the UFC gym, Guitar Center, and a bunch of other things, not to mention Trader Joes is RIGHT across the way...so time your visits. Probably not at lunch, but that's usually the only time I go so I run into the traffic...grrrr. read more

I have banked with Wescom for over 10 years and honestly I'm not sure why I stayed for so long. Hold times are so long and you get charged to transfer money within your own account(s). Recently I applied for an auto loan online that was supposed to have been processed within one day. First, I never received any kind of communication or confirmation via email with the status. I called on the second day to check on the status and she said it looked like my debt was too high. I literally have less than $5k in debt, have good income, have excellent credit, and have never had an issue obtaining an auto loan through dealerships. She said she "didn't know what kind of institutions I've dealt with before but they check everything" and someone would call me back later that day since a final decision hasn't been made yet (I'm still waiting. It's been 4 days). After hearing that, I went to another credit union and was approved on the spot. They also have better service, hold times are short, and they have much more to offer. I will be closing my account with wescom very soon and I'm glad. I won't be needing a loan from them anymore. read more

After picking up proceeds from a real estate transaction we decided to go to the nearest Wescom 19780 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance CA 90503 and open another account. When we entered the branch we noticed that there were no other customers but us and 3 tellers behind the glass. We approached the check in screen and entered our information so that we may be assisted in opening an account. We stood there for less than a minute before we approached the first window (THE MANAGER) and asked for direction and a question regarding depositing a substantial amount of money and being insured. She directed us to going on the Wescom website and read the information. She obviously did not feel the need to take our business or assist us other than directing us to the website. THE MANAGER did not have the ability to work with us or find ways to help. She did not meet quality standards for services nor customer satisfaction. Unfortunately we did not get THE MANAGERS name but she was there 1/13/2021. Customer service is an important part of our banking experience, so we decided to just leave and go to another credit union we bank with but remembered the location at the Wescom in Orange County that gives great service. read more

I don't want to give any,but yelp insists....I own one credit card with the score of 768 and wanted to join the Wescom team to further build my credit and to soon acquire a car loan and from hearing and seeing some of the ratings. But that was just false. I first applied online and was immediately accepted with money drawn from my account for my first initial deposit. To soon learn that I was denied and the deposit was returned to my account. So I go into the branch(Hawthorne)120th location and speak with a African female rep that was friendly but was far from anything being helpful or made me feel a sense of I was headed in a good path with the company,so upon the visit I was told that my ssn is pending???Wtf? And well contact you,after one week no response I returned and was told that I cannot be accepted without any explanations even when I asked just acted dumbfounded being slightly ignored, so I was directed to another rep which referred me to Kinecta credit union and what really through me off and didn't realize the stares and chuckles upon entry from an all black staff on that initial day. Goes to show how us as a people will never be able to move forward...smh! Perfect example. I decided to Kinecta maybe they will treat me like a normal human being. read more

Ok, it appears that I'm the first to write a review of my bank. But I feel compelled to give them a great review. As a customer for well over 15 years I think they are the greatest bank ever. I have had auto loans with them, and many types of accounts, and I've even purchased a car through their vehicle purchase partner and I always have a great experience. Their interest rates and fee's are always the lowest and I pay my bills online and have been doing that for years. Their offices are always nice and clean and the service is friendly with hardly ever having to wait in long lines. I used to bank with Security Pacific and Bank of America years ago but I would never go back to those banks for my banking needs. read more

I completely agree that it's like banking from the 60's in this place. Everything is outdated including the employees. I've had several very bad experiences with customer service. I had an extremely rude teller as well as several experiences where no one in the bank would pick up the telephone when I was trying to call for help. I had to call corporate and have them connect me directly. This means that even though their customer support line was ringing in the branch, no one would pick up. Their corporate line is a different phone and was picked up immediately. That is what I call terrible customer support. I switched to Wescom to get away from big banks, but I thought I was going to receive a more friendly welcoming environment. All I've gotten so far is outdated services and bad customer service. read more

Been a member of this credit union since 2006. I love the fact that I can do all my banking online or mobile. I saw the other reviews about lines being long, but I have never personally experienced have more than two or three people in line. I typically come to the branch whenever I need cash withdrawals beyond what an ATM can provide or a check deposit beyond the mobile check capture allows for. The staff has always been friendly and service is quick and easy. ATM access is very convenient and surcharge-free from many other credit union ATMs participating in the CO-OP network. I travel a lot for and it never fails that there is a CO-OP ATM close by. There is almost always parking. The plaza can be busy at times with Trader Joes right across and Time Warner next to the credit union. read more

Contrary to the other reviews, I absolutely love Wescom. I'm not charged extra fees but that's probably because I paid attention to the different ways to accrue points to ensure I don't pay extra. I also manage everything through their app, so it makes most transactions easy. I have a dedicated banker who has helped with everything from auto insurance to college savings. Negative stars! I despise this bank. I have called various times inquiring about removing myself from a volunteer group bank account. Each time I am given different "requirements" for removal. I was told I had to be present to be removed. They tell the others in my group I can come in and get the paperwork started so they can come in at a later time. I drive 25 minutes out to come get the paperwork started and an employee goes back and forth with the branch manager stating that she had talked to no one about being able to come in to get the paperwork started. Then states he the people we speak to is their "back office" and they don't know what goes on and is required by the front office! What the holy f?! How do you not have consistency. Why makes it vary? She suggests the other group account member May haven spoken to a different branch and their branch manager may have made the exception. Why the holy f would they have different requirements!!!The employee states this location branch manager would have to make an exception. I had all I needed with me. She goes back in and then comes back out a couple of more times. Why the branch manager didn't come out and speak to me directly? I don't know. But after the back and forth the employee finally tells me that I don't need to even be present for removal!!!! WTF?!! Never will I ever even consider this bank for anything in my life. A bank is a bank is a bank, unless they're a credit union that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg for services and fees. Wescom has all I need for a secondary bank. I don't do my electronic banking here, those services are primitive as compared to BofA. BUT, BofA charges a huge amount more - even for automatic overdraft. read more

Next to traders joes a nice convenience. Parking is decent until peak rush hours since it share it with trader joes. Used to be open Sunday's but not anymore. Never had any problems been with them for a long time. Sometimes when you deposit a large check it could take a long time even tho you've been a loyal customer. read more

For a small credit union, I love them!! Been with several different big banks in my lifetime and after too much BS and lame fees, I went 100% with Wescom and LOVE THEM!! Been with them for over 15 yrs now and still love them. Car loans, new home mortgage, credit card services .... all happy transactions and not one problem. Always courteous and helpful. I have been a Wescom member since 2005. I have had a very good experience every time I have visited one of the few branches local to me in the Los Angeles area. However, I have always had poor experiences when dealing with an issue over the phone. Most recent, I called to see if I could have a check hold partially released, and I was very disturbed at how the Wescom representative handled my call. The person first asked me to tell him specifically, what I would use the money for. I declined to disclose the nature of the specifics, and his reply was "well, you have $$$ in your checking account, why would you need anymore?" In short, my phone experience has always been an unprofessional, rude, and very unproductive one. It is for those reasons that I say good bye to this bank, and will take my business to USAA. read more

They are a smaller credit union which means less of a wait, easier access to loans, and no stupid point system to keep you from being charged $5 per month.
