I booked online after receiving some helpful hints and received confirmation directly after. The day that we arrived by plane, I received a text from Dan stating that he was waiting in the ferry parking lot with the vehicle. It was the most convenient, hassle free arrangement that I've ever experienced. Dan was professional, friendly and courteous. He gave us a fantastic rental rate (Winter pricing) for which we were very appreciative. By the time the rental was due back we simply left the vehicle, locked up, and parked at the same airport/ferry terminal and let him know the space number. It couldn't have been any easier than that! :-) It was a pleasure doing business with Dan at Tongass Car Rental. We will definitely be return customers.

If you use a forestry road, it is a $300 fine plus the over $100 rental fee per day. The contract says you can only use paved roads, but the dictionary says a paved road is a road covered with material to make it suitable for travel. The forestry roads are paved with rock, but we were fined anyway. So no sightseeing around Wrangell Island or they will rip you off. Don't say you haven't been warned!!!
