I'm trying to find places a bike ride from my new house. I've been here several times, but this was a true dip in the road. If I wasn't wanting to make this a regular place, I'd have asked them to remake it. Ordered a Rueben that comes with house made chips. The bread on both sides of the sandwich was burned black. Still kinda edible, but I'd have been embraced to serve it with a smiling face. And the chips were cold. This place has been around forever, and it's a hidden gem! I visited for lunch recently. I sat in a cozy booth and just wanted to hang out all day. They had drink specials, food specials, and the friendliest server I've had in the past ten years! My dining companion and I shared the nachos with guacamole (made to order, we learned!) and the chicken tenders (which were very big and tasted freshly made in-house, no frozen stuff here!). The food was excellent. Definitely pub grub, which is one of my favorite cuisines but also worth noting there aren't a ton of healthy options. I will definitely be back! read more

It's been quite a while since I've been here after we didn't have a good experience last time. Tonight on a whim we decided to give it another try as it had been several years. I'm happy to say this time overall it was great! There was one person who did everything except cook the food. He tended bar, took food orders from those sitting at tables, and brought the food out, as well a checking on everyone periodically. He did this all seamlessly and with a cheerful attitude. He was amazing! My spouse got a salad and the housemade chips. She really liked the the salad dressing and loved the chips. They were light, crispy, and not greasy. I had the Reuben and it was excellent! The corned beef was so good and slices were not thin, which made me happy. I found out they make it in house and it showed. I could even taste a hint of juniper in it. Definitely want to have it again and look forward to the corned beef and cabbage on St Paddy's Day! This is definitely a Cheers kind of place where everyone knows everyone and very small like the original in Boston is with only about ten tables. They have outdoor seating that has a heavy duty clear cover during cold weather to enclose it from the elements. That's where smoking is allowed and because it's right by the entrance every time the door is opened it comes in. That would be my only complaint and as someone with a lung disease it becomes taxing after a while breathing it in. That was something I forgot about, so we might have to wait till warmer weather when the outside covering is gone since it traps the smoke that gets sucked inside. If they could somehow resolve this issue I'd happily give them five stars! read more

The Reuben was delicious and the burgers were good. I was there in December and everything was good. Yesterday, Saturday 18,2025, I took my dad there for lunch are it was a colossal disappointment. My dad ordered the Reuben with fries and a soda I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and water. The Reuben was really dry and had very little meat. My cheeseburger was freezer burnt and the cheese was melting off the patty, not in a good way, and the fries taste stale. The bill total was $40.76. They have added surcharges for new year. $1 for each sandwich and $3 for some unknown reason. Nowhere is it posted about the new surcharges. Restaurants that have surcharges should inform the customers before ordering. I will not be returning to the Pub. read more

We recently ordered takeout on a weekday evening. It was easy to order online, and they texted us to let us know the order was received and then again when it was ready. The order took about 30 minutes to prepare, and curbside pickup was super fast and easy. We called when we arrived and a staff member came out to our car to deliver our food with her mask on. Food was yummy! I had a Buffalo (mild) chicken wrap with french fries. It was a really good portion. We also ordered fried onion strings and jalapeños. Our order only seemed to have a few tiny jalapeños in it (not sure if that's standard), but the onion strings were really tasty. Their ranch dressing is awesome and I enjoyed it both on my sandwich and with the onion strings. Hoping we can visit in person in the near future when we are comfortable dining out again! This pub and eatery was here 26 years ago when we moved to Durham and has been a mainstay in the Woodcroft Shopping Center. They had outdoor seating before COVID but may have added more. Food is basic pub fare of sandwiches, burgers, wings, etc. with some daily specials. I did enjoy the bowl of Brunswick stew that I got but was disappointed in the meager quantity of sweet potato tots that I got as a side. My wife also enjoyed her fish and chips. We sat outside and were next to some regulars who knew the waitress and chatted with her. All in all, a solid if not spectacular dining option. If I recall, the interior is deep and can feel crowded/cramps. Props also for hosting occasional charity events like St. Baldrick's Day fundraisers. read more

A strip center bar with character? Yep. It's not quite a dive bar, but it's close. Every time I go there, it seems there are a couple of old guys at one end of the bar who appear to be on the edge of fossilizing in their seats. Sometimes there's this vibe that you're the only one who doesn't know everybody else, but it's certainly not unfriendly. The food is much better than you would expect, especially the great wings. But it's mostly about the beer. The selection isn't huge, but everyone should be able to find some acceptable suds. I have had a problem a couple of times, though, with the draft beer not being as cold as I would like. The bartenders are upbeat and attentive. There's greenery and strand lights around the bar overhang, so it's like eternal Christmas. They also seem to be busy no matter the time of day. Occasionally you run across some clientele who are a whisper away from sketchy, but that's all part of the fun. For an interesting contrast, do a pub crawl with this place and City Beverage across the street. read more

Holla! 50 cent wings on Thursdays! They did a good job putting out mailers. I've seen the signs for wednesday pub quiz night, when I've driven by but hadn't had a chance to check it out. Really it's a place to go if you happen to live in the area. It looks like it's been around for a while and there's a vibe that it's a neighborhood thing (Yes Christina, I thought about the Cheer's atmosphere too). There's a decent selection at the bar and they have a few things on tap. Thursday's seasonal was sweet Josie brown ale, not bad for supporting a local brew. Small booths along the back wall. A restroom not so clearly labeled in the very back (uh, the door that doesn't look like it goes right into the kitchen). There's plenty of patio seating too, and it spills out into the parking lot. If you haven't been there before you actually approach the left side and there's a door into the bar... they patio tables are kind of arranged so you can't walk through the patio section to get in (you can, it's just a lot of navigating). read more

Thursday night a friend and I went here for a late dinner. I anticipate making this a regular spot as I will be moving in 2 weeks super close to this bar! There were a lot of people out as there was NFL football but most were more interested in the NC state football game! We grabbed a seat at a high top table. I forget our servers name but she was busting her butt as she seemed to be the only server working! She was great. Both of us were very happy with our food. The shrimp po' boy I had was absolutely wonderful! My friend loved his sandwich as well! West 94th St. Pub is a friendly little dive bar with a stellar beer selection. On tap are several rotating seasonals, which include this wintertime: Celebration Ale, 2 Below, Sam Adams Winter Lager, and Blue Moon Winter Abbey Ale. Their base drafts are Miller Lite, Yuengling, Guinness, Red Oak, and Stella Artois, and they generally have one from Big Boss as well. This place is cozy when it's not packed, and ultra-airtight super-cozy when it is. Doesn't matter if you get squashed because, since the smoking ban passed, this place has utterly transformed into something not only tolerable, but also a fun, chill place to hang. Shaped like a long hallway, there are several small high-tops upon entry, booths lining the left-hand wall, and a nice, long bar with plenty of stools. I'd add hooks for purse-hanging under the bar myself. The ample, covered outdoor patio is heated in winter. Parking is in the Woodcroft Shopping Center lot, so it's not a problem at all. Look for the sign that says "PUB". Haha, yes, that's all it says. Super-friendly regulars, most of whom will already be cheerily drunk by the time you roll up and many of whom cannot wait to have a sports- or pop culture-related conversation with you, which I am more than happy to oblige. Drunken smalltalk with semi-strangers is the best! Standard pub fare, but I heard brunch isn't bad. My boyfriend and I came here one night looking for dinner and beer. We came on a Wednesday night, which happens to be trivia night which is cool if you're into that, and we sat outside on the front patio with our two dogs (major points for dog-friendly patio!). Firstly, for a pub, the beer choices were pretty sad. Secondly, there was only one server working the full front patio and kinda full inside. It took us a while to even get noticed so by the time the server got to us, we went ahead and ordered our meal (French dip sandwich and Reuben). Our server was not very friendly at first, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt since she was obviously stressed and stretched way too thin. When our food came out (which was pretty quick), in our server's rush, the au jus for my French dip had sloshed out of the cup and all over the fries and sandwich, so both were pretty soggy. Other than that, the food was decent. By the end of the meal, we hadn't been checked in with once. No water refills, no second round of beers, nothing. The only time she came over was when she came and grabbed the open bottle of ketchup from our table (without asking if we were done with it or anything!) and took it to - I'm assuming - another customer's table. Again, it was pretty busy for one server so I'm not really blaming her but they definitely need to get another person in there to help out. Bottom line? We probably won't be back. There are better restaurants close by with way better beer selections that I much prefer going to. read more

Normally, I'd tell you to steer clear of anywhere that thinks a $4 Newcastle is a good special, but I've had some good times at the West 94th St. Pub...or as the sign above the store says and I like to call it, "Pub." Pub is one of those bars defined by its regulars during drinking hours, and the regulars don't mind sharing their bar at all. They'll pull in into conversations, show you how to get a busy bartender's attention, and pretend to be a Bears fan during a Monday Night Football game if it makes you feel any more comfortable. As a restaurant, Pub goes further than just regular bar fare. I had a meat loaf there one time that was pretty tasty, for example. Sometimes I even get the impression that they'd rather be an upscale restaurant than a bar that happens to serve food; an unfortunate wish for a place with "PUB" written above its entrance. In the end, though, I remember Pub as the first place where the bartender knew anything about hockey when I muttered something under my breath about the state of the Hurricanes. It's really a small thing but, in the time before the 'Canes first run to the finals, it was a rarity. So every now and again, because of that, I head into Pub for a $4 beer special. read more
