Why are you hiding or deleting my review? My Experience: I have been bringing my dog to this veterinary clinic since I adopted him, for about two years. All of Paşa's medical procedures have been done here. However, last night my dog suddenly became very ill: he vomited seven times in a row and had diarrhea, with blood in it. We rushed to the clinic in the morning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we explained the situation and were visibly distressed, the long-haired gentleman at the counter spoke to us very rudely, rolling his eyes, and said, "We cannot see patients without an appointment."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Even after I explained that it was an emergency and that we have been coming here since Paşa was born, he repeated the same response in a dismissive manner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I understand if walk-ins are not usually accepted, but we have been loyal clients for two years and expected a little help in such an urgent situation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I even called other clinics, and despite never having been there before, they helped me over the phone for free, giving advice on what to do. If they had taken my dog immediately, treated him, and charged me afterward, I would never have complained because I truly didn't care about the cost. But after being dismissed twice at the door and then being told, "We will treat him if you pay this much," it did not feel sincere to me. Despite having entrusted this clinic with all of my dog's care over the past two years, we were treated rudely and turned away when we arrived in a panic. My heart aches because my dog was in pain and we were left helpless. In short, you can take your dog here for regular care, but if your dog is seriously sick, you may be treated dismissively and left feeling helpless. read more

Not only do they make you wait in your car, they don't take you at the time of your appointment and this was the morning appointment! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the clinic last week about establishing care and getting prescription for Simparica Trio for my dog. The nice lady on the phone set an example date and said she would get my medical records from the other clinic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She later called back and said my dog wasn't due for anything and she would just set it as a tech appointment as it would be cheaper that way for me and then give the prescription. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I arrived today and walked in and was told oh sorry you have to have an exam now, I wasn't happy but I said okay let's do it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The doctor came in and did the quickest cursory exam I have ever seen, no temp or nothing and then said let me get your prescription. She came back with a written prescription and I went to pay. The front desk told me that it was $69.20 and I Just paid and it was not until I got home that I saw they charged me $10 to wrote a prescription and not one person ever advised me that or anything. I have never seen a vet charge to write a a two second paper when I already paid for an exam that wasn't even thorough. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called and spoke to Eric and he said he would check with the doctor. I was on hold for several minutes then I was hung up on, So I called back a second time and he told me he's still waiting to speak to the doctors and he would get back with me and then he called me up and he basically said sorry that's the charge and it's staying on the card.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You know it's not the $10 I'm upset about it's the way it was handled and the fact that I paid $59 for a examination that was not even a thorough examination and yet they wanna charge me an extra $10 to take two seconds and write a prescription. Been bringing our animals here for years and I have to say this is a very clean Vet and the doctors act like they care. However, over the years it's more about let me sell you this and that and try this med and that med and less about real care or concern for the pet. It has become 100%, all about money. Which by the way, I don't mind spending if I felt the care of the animal was the concern and not them just selling something. On the boarding, I have to say they have one of the stupidest policy of anywhere. They require you to make an appointment (not on the same day as boarding date). Have the animal get shots and only then make a boarding appointment. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. No issue with having shots current and paying for the same but why should I have to drive an hour to get shots and then drive back another day to board. Charge me in advance, but requiring me driving twice again is stupid. Of course West Chester Vet, doesn't care about your pet. It's all about the money anymore. Sad, but true. DO NOT COME HERE, GO ANYWHERE ELSE. Zero care at all for the wellbeing of your pets. I brought my cat in for a skin condition on her chin, and the first appointment seemed to go alright. We made a plan of care, but the medication they wanted to prescribe was on backorder. I told them I'd wait for it to be restocked. Fast forward to the day I go to pick up the medication. They tell me those wipes are no longer being manufactured, but that they had a substitute. They brought out a spray, but when I read the bottle, it said for use on dogs only. I asked about it, the tech assured me it was fine, so I asked why it said it was only for dogs if it is also for cats. She went to ask the vet, and came out with a different medication. Come to find out via my own research, the spray they gave me originally can be toxic to cats. So had I trusted this vet to do their job correctly instead of checking the label myself, my cat could have been poisoned. After taking back the spray, the tech gave me some medicated wipes to use but never gave me the instructions on how to use them. I've been using the wipes and the condition just keeps getting worse. I've been trying to get clarification for 3 days now, calling multiple times. Even though every time I called, they said they would have the vet call me, I still couldn't get ahold someone that knows what's going on. Meanwhile my cat is suffering, walking in circles around my house yowling in pain because this heartless excuse of a vet can't make a simple phone call. I had to drive over there to get some answers after being told repeatedly for days that I would receive a phone call. This place is falling apart at the seams. None of the employees communicate with one another, no one ever knows what's going on, they give you medication that can poison your pet, they fail to give proper instructions on treatments, then when you try and follow up for clarification they ignore you. The vet as a person seems alright, but the staff that are there to support them are failing them in every way possible. Please please please don't bring your pets here. read more

Please pick a different vet. They make you sit in your car with your stressed out pet for your appointment and wait 20 min to come get your pet as if it's still Covid. Disguised as convenient car-side service that actually makes the entire appointment 100x more stressful for pet owner and pet. Also wanted to mention their weird recess hour of a lunch where they shut down and refuse to do anything for an hour for "lunch". Don't know anyone else that gets an hour lunch break, god forbid an emergency ever happens between the hours of 1-2 pm. Lazy. Don't care for animals or people, just themselves. My family recently lost our beloved dog. We did everything we could to help her, but ultimately, we made the decision to euthanize. While my family was (and remains) an utter mess, the compassion of Dr. Kearse and her assistant (I'm sorry I didn't get her name), helped us through the process and made all of us (not just our dog) very comfortable. Over the last month, I have called the vet for script refills and advice on making decisions and each time, I was met with empathy and compassion. Scripts were filled within 30 minutes and when a final slip resulted in a heartbreaking decision, the group at the Vet Center squeezed us in within 70 minutes. Even with the last minute addition, never once did Dr. Kearse or her assistant ever make us feel rushed. We were given time to say our goodbyes and discuss final arrangements (which they handled, thankfully). They seemed as emotional about the situation as we were. As we were leaving (late in the evening), Dr. Kearse (with tears in her eyes) even came out to hug my wife and comfort her. With a 12 year old boxer, we had been through 2 different vets and numerous procedures and surgeries; I told my wife, as we were driving one of the best decisions she has ever made was to move Gracie over to West Chester Veterinary Center. read more

They run tests that they don't need to run. They completely misdiagnosed my dog costing me thousands of dollars. My dog has gotten sick after boarding. My dogs are so important to my family, and because of that we have(for 3 years) have paid for every lab test and X-ray under the sun. My oldest golden has terrible allergies and gets ear infections and hot spots once or twice a year. Every time the vet sees him she acts like it's a new disease that needs multiple tests to determine treatment. First time, maybe second I was like this is protocol. Now I just feel screwed and scared to go. 5 months ago my other golden got seriously ill with a stomach issue after being boarded there for a week. 500 dollars later(xrays etc) they put her on what was basically pepto and an antibiotic. It just boggles my mind. I need a change, just wish I knew of a vet to change to read more

Wish that I could give zero stars. I tried boarding my dog here and it was the worst experience ever. They said that they had too many dogs and each one could only be let out for a minute or two. I was promised that she would be let out at least 4 times and was told that she was only let out twice because they had a lot of dogs. She had been laying in her feces for so long that her bottom had a rash and was very itchy. She also acted scared and wasn't the same dog. It had only been 3 days! I called and asked them to treat her itchy bottom and they offered to waive the office fee only! I told them that it was their neglect that caused this and they will treat her and I will not pay a dime! I took her in for treatment but I will never go back. read more

This post is in response to a very negative post about Dr. Ysabel Wright. Despite the negative things that have been said by this individual as a result of her loss, I must say Dr. Wright has shown a high level of professional each time she has provided service to our pets. It's unfortunate to see Dr. Wrights reputation unfairly characterized without the true facts being shared. First of all, I know her personally and know that she is far from uncaring and unprofessional. She has cared for my daughters pets and has always shown care and respect. The facts are that Dr. Wright was not even working at the clinic on the day the passing of the pet referred to on the negative review about Dr. Wright. She was working filling in at another vet clinic. When she received the news of this precious pets passing, she left the other clinic to come share the news with as much compassion as she could. Losing a pet is never easy, especially a chronically ill one. Being upset is quite understandable, but attempting to destroy a caregiver's reputation and reputation of a local business is a bit much. I pray that as this person grieves that her pain lessens. I also hope the readers on Yelp understand that being a caregiver, doctor, nurse, or vet is difficult when loss is experienced. Sharing that information with the family is even more difficult. I hope as Dr. Wright reads these disparaging posts, she knows that she's done her very best, but unfortunately she is not God. If so, I'm sure she would have caused her own aging pet that she loved so much to live forever. Perhaps she will be judged harshly as a result of negative posts, but those who know her know that she is not that person, but rather a caring, professional and well qualified veterinarian. She has worked not only at local vet clinics, but in other states and countries receiving the highest of praise for the care she shows to the furry pets that she loves so much. read more

I currently take one of my dogs here and I am thinking about taking my other dog here once he is due for another checkup. Overall the service here is great, the staff is very helpful and knowledgable. My only complaint was that they were supposed to call me after my dog came out of surgery and they did not. I had to call and follow up with them hours after the surgery was over. Besides that, I have no complaints at all! The prices are all very reasonable as well. read more

I called sobbing after calling 20 other places closer who were all rude and incredibly unhelpful as my bearded dragon who is my joy in life was hurt and needed immediate help. Finally, someone gave me the number of this vet and the rest of my experience getting help for him was a breeze. The lady at the front desk was an absolute gem, she understood my concern and genuinely wanted to help. Since the reptile doc was out of the building that day she took the time to call another source and relayed info back to me that put me at ease until our appointment the next day. The next day, I was running late to the appointment and truly expected them to cancel it since they were working me in but no, they understood, and brought me in as soon as I got there because they cared about the animal. Caring about the clients you are treating is fundamental to being a vet and this office gets what's important. The doctor was very informative and helpful and even with X-rays, my total was far more reasonable than expected. Will be back. read more

After being a customer for over 10 years I finally switched vets and I'm SO glad I did. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. This practice only cares for money. They do overcharge for everything. Customer service has gone down the hill since Covid. Once you switch you will see the difference. The biggest thing for us was they almost lost my cat on her 1st visit. I warned them that she was very scary scared as she was a stray cat. Their response was we got this as we take care of all animals. We'll she escaped and in the process of catching her she bit the vet. They made me keep her there for 10 days because of fear of rabies. The cat was already with us for 5 months. The vet made me feel so bad trying to convince me to keep her there. She only cared about herself and the practice never any concern about us or my cat. And as a FAVOR they didn't charge me for her 10 day stay!!!!! Do yourself a favor and don't bother with this practice. I'm so happy now with my new vet. read more

Dr. Ysabel Wright has a non-existent bedside manner and is nonchalant and ambivalent about pet loss. We took our cat in for a diagnostic X-ray as he had not been feeling well. We take excellent care of our pets with plenty of prophylactic, routine care and maintenance. During the X-ray, he coded and died. Upon informing us in the waiting room, she sat down and rattled off his procedure like it was a weather report and included that he had coded and then just kept talking as if it were no big deal. We had to stop her and clarify, "you mean he died?" She confirmed he had died during the procedure and was not at all sympathetic. Rather, she continued with a clinical, academic posture, almost implicating us in his death. While my daughter worked with the vet tech to put our sweet cat in a box to take him home, Dr. Wright could be heard in another room laughing with another member of the staff. She is not fit for veterinary practice. Any academic prowess she holds is meaningless if she cannot exercise compassion for her patients. I would strongly caution against using her for any veterinary care. read more

They try to add on expensive "extra" tests all the time that make zero sense. Staff is unfriendly and they can't see your dog when they are sick-need it most. ZERO stars! On Sunday, May 17th, I arrived at West Chester Veterinary Center for emergency services with my dog, Lyla, who was ill and lying down in the cargo area of my SUV. I arrived around 11:30AM and called them upon my arrival (COVID-19 protocol per the signs posted on front entrance). I explained Lyla's status to the woman who answered, stating that "I don't know what's wrong with her but she has a fast heart rate, doesn't want to move and I think she's trying to die on me." Without anyone even bothering to triage Lyla, the woman on the phone proceeds to tell me that they are unable to accept Lyla as an emergency patient because they've "already had a couple emergency patients this morning and are fully booked with routinely scheduled appointments. We have no more hands on deck." We were flat out refused emergency care. The lady then referred me to two other emergency veterinarians who were both approximately 25 minutes away. I proceeded to drive to Med Vet on Red Bank Road, per WC Veterinary Center's recommendation. Upon arrival, my sweet girl was dead. It turns out that Lyla had a cancerous tumor in her stomach that had ruptured earlier that morning, which is when we first noticed her symptoms. It's likely that even the best vet in the world would have been unable to save her, however, my sweet girl dying alone in the back of my car is unacceptable. WC Veterinary Center claims to provide both routine and emergency services. Providing emergency services requires that you adopt a triage system to screen each emergency patient, which determines their current condition and how urgently they need to be seen. Because WC Veterinary Center chooses to provide both routine and emergency services, this also means that a routinely scheduled appointment may have to wait if an emergency patient needs to be seen first. At least, this is how it's supposed to work. Had a vet or vet tech been so kind as to lay eyes on my dog rather than flat out refusing her, their veterinary expertise would have likely told them she's in the process of dying. And had I known this information, I could have spent her last minutes comforting and holding her. My negative experience with WC Veterinary Center is obviously on the extreme end, involving the death of my beloved pup. While I will never EVER allow WC Veterinary Center to care for my animals again, I am sharing my experience in the hopes that they will change their procedure and no one else will have to be robbed of their precious last moments with their dying pet. Awful place. Went here for puppy check up with symptoms of respiratory infection, they told us that sneezing is a normal part of being a puppy. 2 days later went to a new vet and they told us it was a very bad respiratory tract infection. Our dog was getting progressively worse and had to go back to this vet(because of awful pet store contract) and when they listened to the lungs and the heart they did it in the wrong places with the wrong sized tool. They said she sounds great! This place is contracted by pet stores and postpone treatments and diagnosing anything until after the contract expires. They lie about pets condition in order to fulfill the agreement they have with stores. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, save your time and your pet read more

I should have listened to reviews. My dog has allergies and a hurt leg. After going and spending close to $500, nothing is better. The vet recommended an allergy shot that was $170. She did not tell me it was only for topical or seasonal allergies and not for food allergies. It did not work at all. They didn't even take xrays on her leg and ended up giving me some pain pill that's equivalent to Advil and has done nothing for her. My dog has had allergies her whole life, but normally after vet appointments she has a few weeks of relief with a steroid shot and some kind of allergy pill (we've tried several, they work for a month or so). If I would have let them go forward with everything they wanted to do (again X-ray was not included) it would have cost me over $1000. I went to another vet who quoted me much lower, xrays, allergy meds and pain pills included. Would not recommend because I felt as if they do not focus on individual needs rather just recommend the most expensive meds and treatments. read more

We have been tolerating this place for years and it is my fault that we were too lazy to look for a better vet. We have two healthy dogs that usually have some type of acute illness once a year. The past three times we have called with an acute illness they have told us it would be 4-5 days for them to see our animals. I am a physician and would not treat patients this way. I would expect them to seek medical care someplace else which is what we are finally going to do. I called another vet in the area and we were able to get in the very same day even though we were not an established patient. This place is always trying to upsell as well. Again I am a human doctor, and not a vet but dogs and humans are not that far off with regards to basic pathophysiology. I was always struck at the number of additional tests and lab work they wanted to do that was completely unnecessary. The staff when you call are also not professional and have an attitude. I feel bad that we have not made the switch until now but at least we finally did it. read more

We have used this establishment to board our dogs for 12 years (long before they became West Chester Veterinary Center), and have always been happy with their service. Our newest dog is a 1-yr old Doberman who we have boarded since he was a pup. He is very energetic, 100 lbs., and all muscle, but also very lovable to everyone he meets. When we boarded him last month, it was mainly to have him bathed and his nails trimmed. We advised them in advance that he is not at all aggressive, but does not like his rear paws touched, so it takes one person to hold him and one person to trim his nails. We picked him up and everything was done properly and they said that there were no problems. I might add that we use the wellness plan at a different vet for his actual shots, etc. because West Chester Vet is much more expensive. The other vet also trims his nails with no problem whenever we take him for shots and all the technicians seems to love him and fawn over him. This time, we boarded him for two nights, and told them we again needed him bathed and nails trimmed. When we went to pick him up, his nails were NOT trimmed. They said the technician said that he was aggressive and she would not trim him because he would not allow her to muzzle him. He has NEVER been muzzled, so he was not used to it. Why weren't we contacted and advised of the situation? Then they tried to charge us for the nail trim anyway! The owner was there, and just tried to minimize the situation when it was obvious that the recent technician didn't know what she was doing. It is a shame, because we will never go back and never recommend them to anyone. read more
