I hate writing this because about a year ago Trax BBQ had some of the best brisket around. Back…read morethen the brisket was moist, flavorful, and you could actually request fatty or lean cuts. The fatty brisket especially was incredible. Tender, juicy, packed with flavor, and honestly didn't even need sauce. This recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. Apparently you can't request fatty or lean anymore, and the brisket I received was so dry it literally crumbled apart like beef sawdust. There was basically zero fat left on it, which also meant very little flavor. For the first time ever, the sauce wasn't optional... it was rescue equipment. The ribs were okay, but even they weren't what they used to be. They used to have that perfect fall-off-the-bone texture, and now they were just kind of there. Not terrible, just disappointing compared to how good this place once was. I'm not trying to trash Trax because I know how great they can be. That's actually what makes this frustrating. It feels like the brisket went from "Texas smokehouse masterpiece" to "beef jerky with a college degree."

And he stood on the stage after the show just soaking it all in and appreciating everyone who was there, waving and signing autographs. You could tell he didn't want to leave the stage. It was cool to see.) Anyway, it was a little hectic that first time I visited Jersey Mike's only being open a couple weeks and the manager was there coaching his team. I enjoyed witnessing that. Each time I've visited, the staff is very kind and helpful. They help you through the process and make sure your sandwich is made to perfection. Usually I like cold subs, bud I got the Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese (#55). Delicious. Fast forward to this evening (because I forgot to post this review earlier this week until I realized it was sitting in my Notes app. Oops!). My son had a golf match in Anderson, so we stopped in at Jersey Mike's. I went with the #55 once again. Still delicious with grilled chicken, onions, peppers and mushrooms with jalapeños. Shut the front door! The place is always clean and the staff were super patient with my daughters who wanted to order for themselves (which also included a ton of questions!). Husband had the pork chops ($16.99) you can choose 2 sides and if you like, they'll make them BBQ Or Cajun. He chose Cajun. There were two giant pork chops on the plate. He said they were thick & juicy, and perfectly cooked. Definitely pleased. I chose the Smothered Monterey Jack chicken ($15.99) with broccoli & garlic mashed potatoes. The breast was small, but VERY tasty! Covered in cheese, sautéed onions & mushrooms. The garlic mashed potatoes were good too! Our service was good and the manger came around to see how we were doing. I noticed he visited several tables to see if everyone was happy. Overall a very good visit and we'll be back. The four stars is because they have several burger, chicken, & specialty sandwich options, that sound wonderful, but they only come with chips. If you want fries or onion rings, you have to pay $2.79 extra, on a burger that is already $12. Plus extra .79 cents for "deluxe," Which includes, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and pickle. I feel like (with all the many restaurants that offer combos) this is a little disappointing. We will still return, because what we had was very good. But if we want a burger or hot sandwich, we will go somewhere that offers side options, included in the meal.
