Here for the holidays from la decided to try out a few studios been doing bikram for about eight years . Not my first rodeo ha. There is so much positive about this studio the new floor, certified bikram instructors , also take note the air is moist not dry and stale like most studios. Good parking , stunning location . With that said the changing closets are odd and small but I can let that slide whatever we are all sweaty and gross and basically nude . The deal breaker with me is there is no shower, I'm sure the studios has there reasons and would love to put one in but there is not one. I had a clean change of clothes and had to put that over my sweaty body and drive home , cloth seats. This studio would be a knock out if they had a shower . read more

Nice studio. The humidifier is a nice touch. The classes are not packed like sardines which is good because no one wants a room all asses and elbows with sweat flying everywhere like some other places. The instructors are all friendly and helpful as well. read more

Every time I've been there the studio always smells clean. Nice location right on the water (channel). The classes I've been to have never been over crowded, and there are some really great teachers. Maya yesterday was awesome. So positive and encouraging. I've experienced at least 6 different instructors so far, and there has only been one teacher whose attitude I didn't really care for, but I've only had her for one class. This studio is pretty convenient to get to, well taken care of, and a great offering of different classes as well as the regular Bikram classes. Come as you are, I've never felt any kind of pretentious or competitive vibe in there. Leave happier, lighter, and drenched in sweat :) read more

The classes offer good instruction for beginners and each instructor has their own twist on how they present the class so you can take something new from each of them. There isn't a lot of pressure, its a warm (ha ha) and inviting environment. read more

AHHH-MAZING! Just found this place and after one class I am hooked. It was my first hot yoga class so I was a little hesitant that I wouldn't be able to handle it or the cleanliness wouldn't be up to par. I was immediately proven otherwise upon entering the facility. I was greeted and welcomed upon checking in. Got all my questions answered and went to the class. The yoga room was very clean - I was impressed. Found my spot in the back and prepared myself for the 90 minute journey. Francisco taught the class and he is by far one of the most knowledgeable teachers I have encountered. He took the time to show the class correct form and where to place your focus to achieve the pose. I found that very enlightening and encouraging. I truly enjoyed his class and teaching style. The sign up process is very easy and the pricing is very attractive if your not sure about making a big commitment right away. read more

It is an amazing experience! It's so easy on your body. I make time for myself as a result. Once you adjust to the heat, it's heaven!!! I came here after purchasing a Groupon which included a month of unlimited yoga. It's located in the Marina Pacifica mall, kind of hidden between Chipotle and BWW going down the stairs. Even though it seems like it would be located in this busy shopping center, it's actually located in a quiet and secluded part of this center; it's right by the water this was really nice, calming, and fitting for a studio like this! The front desk area of this studio is kind of small, but the classroom is pretty big, so that was good - that's what really matters anyways. There is a shared changing area (one for women and one for men), but unfortunately no showers available for post-practice rinse. The room was at a good high temperature (of course) and the instructors are very nice, helpful, and informative, especially those who are new to Bikram (a set of 26 poses in 90 minutes). I think I have had a different instructor for every class I've been to so far, and all of them are nice and friendly. I also like how they have a good number of classes throughout the day, and they vary by what kind of class and also length of time. I also liked how they give a welcome packet with some information and tips for BIkram Yoga, as well as two free passes for your friends as well as "frequent customer" card to help motivate you to come as much as possible and see the benefits of practicing Bikram frequently. Overall, I have had a good experience at this studio each time I practice and I am looking forward to enjoying more classes! read more

Ok, showers??? would be nice. I honestly don't think Bikram should let people open studios if they don't have to plan showers. It's like having a bar without a bathroom!!! The Bikram studio down at The Camp in Costa Mesa (at least last time I was there) had amazing showers, gave you FREE towels to dry off with so you didn't have to bring two, had shampoo, conditioner and--crucially--plastic bags for packaging up your soppy gear. In fact, I've never been to another Bikram studio that didn't have showers, and I've been to three in SoCal, one in Arizona and one in New Mexico. But hey, it's Long Beach, guess they don't think we deserve better. I had the same experience as many others regarding packages expiring--they changed the policy in the middle of one of my packages, resulting in many wasted dollars, and were not very sympathetic. I felt like I was being cheated rather than being part of a cool community. And I agree with Pilar B. Smell=FAIL! read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while, and in skimming some more recent reviews, I feel like I need to write this in defense of this studio. I attended this studio for about a month last summer, and I only stopped because I ran out of the "deal" and tried out Purple Yoga, which just works better for me in terms of location (easier parking) and facilities (they have showers and more class times). To start, I want to address some of the recent complaints in some of the reviews. - Smell: I honestly was worried about this, but I didnt notice anything really. I have a really good sense of smell (honestly, its more of a curse sometimes), and it just smelled like hot, if that makes any sense. They clean the carpets like crazy, so what you're smelling might just be the people sweating near you, which, sorry, is going to happen in every single hot yoga class. - Boring 90 minute classes... Well, to each his own. However, for Bikram newbies, it is important to know that each class *is* the same series of poses, in the same order. Probably the instructors will say similar things, as they tend to try to stay within the culture of the studio. I honestly think it is a time to focus on yourself for 90 minutes, and the instructors' role is not to entertain you--it is to guide you through the poses. If it is boring (which happens!), maybe try moving deeper into the posture and focusing on breathing. The boredom may be a sign that you're not fully present in the class. - I see Elena Z.'s long list of dislikes, and I would like to address a couple of them. First of all, these corrections are actually common to all Bikram studios I have been to (and I've been to my fair share). It is important to keep your eyes open in this practice because it keeps you present, in the moment, etc. All good Bikram teachers will remind you to keep your eyes open. It's part of the challenge, at times. Feeling dizzy and taking a breather is important; however, depending on the place you are in during the class, it is sometimes important to keep your heart above your feet rather than laying down. Please trust the yoga instructors, who have extensive training. They are trying to help you, and they are trained professionals. My experience here was pretty good. It isn't the best studio I've been to, but I have been to some amazing studios. I like the instructors and the facility is fine. You also can't beat walking out after class and seeing the water and boats! I really do wish they had actual locker rooms, specifically with showers... that is a huge pet peeve of mine. But, the studio is good, the practice is good, and I really do recommend that people give it a shot. I am hoping that the above points will help others to not dwell too much on the negative 1-star reviews... I don't know anyone who works at this studio, so I am only defending this studio because I want the public to understand that this is actually a good option for Bikram. Hopefully if you're interested in Bikram in Long Beach, you'll give these guys a chance. It's especially worth it if they're running any promotions (groupon, etc) to try it out. Namaste! read more

I was looking for a place to try yoga when one of my friends at work suggested I try this studio with her. I had heard yoga would help me lose weight, stabilize my bad knee, and help me de-stress (something every grad student needs). So, I tried it, and I'm glad I did. So, if you don't know anything about Bikram yoga (like me when I first started), it's a bunch of poses you do in a room that is heated to 105-110 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, I'm a winter girl. I hate the heat, but this yoga. Wow, it did more for me than all my running! It also helped improve my sister's acne. She's getting less breakouts and is gaining her smooth complexion back. I absolutely love the instructors here. The only instructor I didn't really care for is Haesook, the little Japanese instructor, but everyone else I liked. Rosario and Jeremy are definitely my favorites and Nicole and Susan's classes are definitely less hot, but still challenging. The only thing that held me back from five stars is the smell. I haven't been to any other Bikram studios but the smell is horrible! You can smell the scent of sweat and feet from the parking lot. Often, the opening instructors spreads tea tree oil around the place. But, I guess the sweat is stronger than the oil. However, after starting class, the stench goes away. Either you get used to it or you start smelling like it. Overall, I like it. I don't think it's for everyone though. read more

Truly enjoy the intimacy of this Bikram Studio. I always feel like I get one on one interaction/adjustments by the instructors. I also appreciate that everyone that is there and practicing waits for instruction before they move into another pose. The hype is real! I drove all the way from Redondo Beach (20 miles) to attend a 4:30 pm beginner's Bikram class on a Sunday afternoon. The instructor was Liliana and she was great! Nurturing, clear, and understanding. This was my first real Bikram class in over 8 years as I had a horrible first experience in San Diego.. My experience at this studio, however, made me love bikram again! I usually do hot vinyasa so I love hot yoga in general. I will probably do drop in classes once in a while since it's not a convenient drive but I know it'll be worth it. Tip: check out their schedule or sign up for their email subscription as they typically have specials and even free/discounted classes once in a while. There isn't a shower which is the only thing I dislike because my drive is too long to be drenched in sweat the whole time. I change into dry clothes but still worry (ladies, you feel me? Lol). This place is okay.. I've only been to two studios, so in comparison, this one loses...but its about 20 minutes closer, so I continue to go here. I think it is overpriced for the quality of the studio. It smells like they havent aired out or cleaned the place in years, it is too small, and there is a window in the back that blasts hot sunshine on you the whole time (110 degrees is hot enough for me!) The reason I like this place is that the instructor does not do the poses with you, instead they are talking you through the poses the entire time... great for beginners and anyone who needs help improving. read more

The practice itself is amazing but I really like the fact that you all take the time to know your clients by first name basis. That makes the client feel like he/she is more than just a client and that makes a world of difference. The only thing I would suggest is that you remove that big table in the greeting area because the space is too small for the amount of traffic you have before and after each class. read more

Going on my 2nd week at this location and the only class that has me coming for more is Tina's restorative yoga!!! it is imperative that we all nourish our mind and body's in that way. Because of her my friends and I are more in tune with ourselves. I wish I can take the class at least twice a week, for this society can be overwhelming and restorative yoga does that, restore us! It's a great place... but it smells soooo bad in there, I'm sorry i can't get past it. That carpet absorbing everyone's sweat on a daily basis... I really wish they had other type of flooring then the place would be cleaner and wouldn't smell as bad... sure you don't smell it after your nose gets used to it... but my poor lungs deserve better. I'll go back... if they ever remove the horrible carpet and replace it with something that won't hold in everyone's sweat. read more

I have been taking Bikram classes at different locations all over the country for 10 years. I'm no professional but I am decent at it and can normally make it through a standing series no problem with very little if ever needing any breaks at all. I also love heat. I own a home in the desert and can tolerate a lot of heat. The room in the class yesterday was so hot it was like flesh burning. It felt like my yoga pants were melting to my skin. The room also smelled so bad of sweat and garlic and filth that it was nauseating and suffocating. I clearly wasn't the only one that felt this way as it looked like most everyone was struggling pretty bad. When one older gentleman needed to leave the room the instructor shamed him terribly and then told the class no one else was allowed to leave with so much attitude it was unprofessional and possibly illegal? I had to lay for the last 30 minutes of the class because I could barely breathe it was so hot and gross in that room. I had wished I would have left when the older man did. It honestly makes me weary of ever doing Bikram again anywhere that's how bad of an experience this class was. Yoga no matter if it's Bikram or not should never make you feel like you can't listen to your body or leave a room if you must. Of course in Bikram it is advised against but people were clearly suffering and the instructor's ego was so in the way of her ability to read the room or maybe she lacked the ability to care. I would never take a class from her again that is for certain. read more

I used to suffer from migraine headaches and after several years I was building up tolerance to my prescription medication. I decided to look for other natural ways to get rib of my headaches. My doctor recommended exercise or yoga. I was never a big fan of exercising so I decided to try yoga. I found a good deal from groupon and went to my first class. The place is clean, staff is very friendly and plenty of parking lot. The instructors are very knowledgeable, approachable and always willing to help you to reach the proper posture. This place offers hot yoga, hot pilates, meditation and other classes. Now, its been almost a year and a half that I'm still here and I'm happy to say that I'm migraine free. Its been around 8 or 9 months that I have not experience any migraine headaches. Also, I started to add the hot pilates class to my routine. I truly believed by going to both classes Hot pilates and Hot Yoga has help me to sleep better, migraine free, lost weight and tone up! I'm very happy with the results that I'm getting to a point that I feel guilty if I miss a class. I would recommend to anybody who wants to improved their life style and health. read more

my 3 stars = Not Bad Positives: - if you live in long beach, it's convenient - knowledgeable instructors that push you - classes start and end promptly Negatives: - small place, gets really crowded - no showers - only one bathroom My thoughts Other yelpers have complained about the smell and I've been to a few studios and they all smell. It's just the nature of carpet + hot yoga, so get over it or don't do Bikram. There are other hot yoga places that use wood floors that tend not to smell as bad. If you live in Long Beach, as I do, this place provides great instruction, is convenient and the no showers thing isn't a big deal (wouldn't you rather shower at home anyway?). i think what is most important is the training and this place does a good job of it. The instructors push you to do your best, they are descriptive with the poses and they tell you all the benefits of each pose. They aren't life changing, but they aren't crappy either. The only thing that I tend not to like about this studio is that it's smaller than others, so the place gets really crowded. It's uncomfortable at first, but once you get into to your zone, it's all good. read more

Not the best experience. As soon as I entered into class a class attendee aggressively told me that I couldn't put my mat near a vent which caused a scene and made the remainder of the class a not-so-great experience. I then moved near the door and the instructor moved me a second time which made me uncomfortable because it's not where I felt the best energy. The class was just way too crowded. I probably will not go back. I found a yoga studio across the street and the room was much more spacious and the people a lot more friendly. read more

Bikram Yoga in general is awesome. As far as the classes go, they are very regimented, which means they are pretty much the same anywhere you go, although certain teachers can inspire (or deflate) you with their comments during the class. Almost all of the teachers here do the former (inspire). I gave this studio 4 out of 5 because I've been to one other studio (it was on the east coast) and it was much, much nicer in decor and amenities. Although, I noticed that it was a little more expensive than this studio, so maybe that's something I should ignore. Another tip: If you like to run, this place is great for workin out the tightness in your legs. My best runs are the day after I do Bikram. read more

I will admit that after reading the other reviews on here I was skeptical about this studio. I am glad to decided to not listen and take class. I was in town for a conference and attend classes regularly at home so I came with high expectations. This studio had one chance to impress me - and it did. If I am ever in Long Beach, I will be coming back. When I arrived at the studio, I received a warm greeting from Tiffany. She worked quickly to get me signed up and made sure I had a mat ($1 rental) and told me where to put my belongs, pointed me to the changing room and got me going. Wendy led the class and was great! Since it was my first time to the studio she made sure she knew where I was in the room and gave me a nice welcome. Wendy went through all 26 postures in the Bikram style but also made sure we enjoyed class. Bikram yoga is 90 minutes of intense concentration and focus but as Wendy reminded us, it is okay to smile at yourself in the mirror. During the class Wendy did give tips and pointers to students to help them improve a specific posture or to help them go deeper into a pose. I know some of the other reviews mentioned the smell of the room/studio and I will agree that it was present, but that is what happens in small spaces where people go and sweat 5 times a day (different classes) for 90 minutes at a time. The smell was not overbearing or something that could not be handled. Based on my experience this evening and of other studios I have attended, I would recommend Bikram Yoga Long Beach and suggest you experience it for yourself and not let others sway you. read more

wow, I can't believe the bad reviews for this place. I started doing Bikram in HBHY, which is very nice, but Bikram in Long Beach is a lot closer. They have a 1 week for $20 bucks intro so I decided to try it out. This studio is a lot smaller, with only 1 bathroom for all the students, but its decent and clean. I signed up for the intro in Dec, I ended up in a car accident so was unable to finish my first week, so when I returned in Feb, I asked if I could finish my first week and Rosario, the director was cool with it. I notified all the instructors before class that I had a bad knee so I would have to modify some poses, and all the instructors were okay with it. Nobody ever try to make me do anything that I didn't want to do. I bought a 10 class package, and I really enjoy the classes. Its a different vibe than the classes in HB (sorry Long Beach rules!) there is just more variety of students. Most of the instructors are good, it seems like the poses are different than the ones in HB, but its still 90 minutes of bliss. I love hot yoga, it really helped my knee way more than physical therapy did. I am now recovering from surgery but can't wait to go back. I guess if I had a choice, I would go back to HBHY because they have a lot more classes and the studio is a bit nicer, but I do like Bikram in LB. The director Rosario is a bit intense and her classes are tough, but she's nice. I recommend this place, parking is easy and there is a Jamba Juice is next door, which is nice to cool off. read more
