" Was A Niece Place "…read more We met some friends in the Best Western Hotel. The hotel looked very nice and and newer. The Hotel does have a weird layout though. There is an indoor pool and Jacuzzi that all of the rooms look down on! It is weird and leads to an excessive amount of noise that comes up to the rooms. We asked and the employees told us that a remodel had just happened. We joined our friends as they had their continental breakfast. Which looked pretty good. I would stay here !

New Diamond Select member with best western which is their highest tier of elite status customers…read more This property did not honor any of the status benefits... no early check in, no room upgrade, no late check out allowed, and no welcome gift of bottled water. Everyone is treated as a basic member with no benefit to brand loyalty. To add to this, an employee named Shane literally screamed angrily at all the pool customers to get out at 902pm when the pool closed at 9pm. He seemed extremely angry that there were customers staying at the hotel. Weird property to treat travelers so mean when it's such a welcoming friendly community outside it's doors. Best western corporate should keep an eye on brand management here. ------ 7/12/26 update: Apparently the rude employee mentioned in my honest review of how the property treats diamond select members is the property owner who does not handle travel reviews well, but as top tier members with several hotel brands and travelers who spend well over 100+ nights per year in hotels, i believe we are able to give well balanced reviews of hotel properties. Several other guests (perhaps around 15) were present to witness the rant that occurred of the employee/ owner closing the pool for the night 2 minutes past closing time. Since we were not in the pool and had already exited and dried off it was pretty appalling to see families and under age children be yelled at in a public hospitality setting. This is never permissible in the hospitality business. The response from the hotel going on a rant blaming us and customers for being the problem is also extremely bad PR to allow. I suspect since their location is fantastic and they are one of only a few hotels in the area that the owner has a sense of superiority over the area. We never asked to stay a 2nd night or refuse to pay for anything. Nor did we demand any late checkout... these were blatant lies from the business owner written in an attempt to minimize our review or make it it look as though we were being unreasonable. Bottom line is that hotel brands definitely need to ensure their privately owned franchise owners adhere to the standards they advertise. There are some marriott and Hilton properties within a short drive of Hannibal that offer a better experience in adhering to status recognition and not treating their customers with content for simply providing them business and revenue. FYI, yes 2 bottles of water were offered at check out after we pointed out that the property denied all status benefits for diamond select. We are sorry the owner was extremely offended that we referred to him as an employee. That does reflect however on the personality type of the individual who runs this establishment.

I arrived after dark for business and wound thru some backroads before finding my way to the hotel…read more Pleasantly and happily surprised to find this very nice and new hotel right by the hospital. I was greeted warmly, given helpful info by the desk staff person. Several utility contractors appeared to be using the HIE as their home base and were gathered in the lobby swapping stories and relaxing over beverages. The rooms were high end for an HIE and featured a room with the bathroom to be right on entry, a sliding barn door separating the bedroom from the bathroom and noise from the hallway., a chaise lounge, office set up and large screen TV with a king size bed which was very comfortable. The bathroom had a nighttime light feature and a great shower set up with a sliding glass door. I must say as a frequent traveler this hotel beats some of the more pricier places I've stayed. I skipped the free breakfast so can't comment on it. When in Hannibal MO, do your self a favor and stay here, it's well worth the extra 5 minutes you will spend driving back into town to check out Mark Twain stuff or whatever it might be that brings you to Hannibal

I cannot believe all the good reviews - this place is horrid! It seems like it was thrown together…read morewith spare parts and discounted fittings. We had a room with a king size bed. We had roaches!!! Minimal housekeeping means they don't even come in and take all the trash, they just grab the old towels and bring in clean ones (hopefully - eco could mean they just dried wet ones in the dryers and brought them out for re-use). The floor felt like it had not been cleaned in ages on my bare-feet which were dirty by the time I went to bed after I had only walked on the room's floor! The bed was so tall you had to do gymnastics to get on it. They say they are eco minded so I think they use the grey water idea for one time our toilet water was literally yellow and no one had peed in it, so I guess someone had peed in the shower and it ended up in my toilet. The lid on the toilet was too small so you were constantly sitting on the bowl part as well. Also being eco minded meant instead of soap being sanitarily wrapped in it's own unopened paper and small bottles of shampoo etc, you got opened bottles of not full to almost empty products, all of which numerous other people had used and perhaps done God knows what with it and the pump handles were probably never cleaned. You could not even use the sink for the fixtures were so ill fitting, you had to use a cup to rinse your hands, otherwise you were constantly hitting the underneath crevice of the counter and you just knew it had not been touched by "housekeeping" since the hotel was built. There is no restaurant only a breakfast hallway which is sectioned "off limits" except 6-8am. The laundry room which you had to do yourself smelt like sewage. I didn't even shower for it was unusable, not only did it have no grab bars or anything, you had to turn backwards to reach the products about three feet from the shower head. Someone said this hotel was new - the shower was rusty. So after having to pole vault onto the bed I left unshowered, in dirty clothes for I did not want to use products someone may have goobered in that stank to high heaven, or launder my clothes in a sewer. We had planned to stay two nights but left after the first one. Very over priced and don't believe a word of the good reviews. And I didn't even say a word about all the clashing decor...
