I would recommend West End Plastic Surgery for all your cosmetic needs. I initially touched based with Amanda Bader, Patient Care Coordinator. She proved to be very knowledgeable and was available throughout my experience. She took my calls immediately and made sure my questions were answered. My surgeon, Dr. Wang, is so talented and knowledgeable. I was concerned that I would not look like me after my facelift. She assured me that would not be the case. Her skill in the latest surgical techniques rolled back the clocks of time for me. I look like I did 10-15 years ago! Friends can't put their finger on what has change and have asked if I lost weight or come back from vacation. I giggle inside as I no longer have those deep hollows under my eyes, the jowls, or the ugly turkey neck. I had an outpatient filler procedure done with Nora, an NP, and I loved my results more than when I had the procedure with a plastic surgeon! She listens very carefully about your goals and look you're going for and is HONEST about what you can achieve. I went back to get more of this procedure but she was honest and told me to wait and come back in a few months as the results may not have turned out natural and I really was being greedy! I would have rated them -20 (Minus 20) if it was possible This was the worst experience ever. I had a consult with Dr. Somenek, regarding enlarged pores, sunspots, fine lines, etc. I told him I dont want to have a treatment that requires 3-5 treatments. He recommended Active FX, a $2,500 treatment. I paid the full amount and had my procedure on November 4. I knew to expect some discomfort, sunburn feeling, and some itching. But I DID NOT expect 4 days after the procedure i would get blisters on my upper lip and on my skin right below my lower lip. I didnt expect to get patches of irritation on my neck. I knew there was something wrong when i walked in for my follow up. The way the staff looked at me and the Dr's blank facial expression. I kept my cool. But then I couldn't take it anymore I had hyper and hypo pigmentation my neck, my jawline, and all around my lips. I spoke with Dr. Ruff as well, he made it seem as if it was normal. I let both doctors know, I will consult with doctors. I went to 3 different doctors, the first thing, each and everyone of them said " You are a skin type 5, Why would he use this machine to treat you in the first place?" They all said if he wanted to use this machine on me, he should have advised me to take hydroquinone before and after my procedure....Which he DID NOT. And if he did, my face would have been ok. I also check the protocol for Active FX. And it clearly mentions skin type 4 & 5 must take Hydroquinone prior and after. it's almost been 7 weeks now. The issues I went to see him for are still there and he just made my face worse with dark spots all over. I basically paid him $2500 to burn my face and hyper pigment me. My face was in better condition before he laid his hands on me. After some research apparently this is a common mistake at RPS. There has been 3-4 other patients with the exact issue. All the doctors told me they cant do anything to fix this mess Dr.Somenek did to my face. My best Friends wedding is next week and my face is still looks horrible. I cants stand looking at my face, and when I do I start crying. I Hate him and I hate his office. They dont care about their patients, they only care about the money in their pocket. I have pictures and videos showing before and after . I started recording my video the moment I walked out my house and heading to their office for the procedure. IF YOU DONT WANT TO MESS UP YOUR FACE, GO SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR!!!! read more

I went to Dr. Ruff last year in May of 2012. I had ablative laser on my face. My cheeks were the real problem. When I consulted with him he said, "This will correct 60% of your problem". I was ecstatic and agreed to do it. Lori, his NP, did it. The recovery was miserable. I knew that it would be, but it was worth it. I was newly divorced and wanted to feel good about the way I looked. So I saved my money and did the procedure. Months later, I went back to him because I saw no results. He and I met and he agreed, "You're right. It didn't work". That is what he said to me. Then he talked to me about surgery as an option. Over $10K! I said I would have to think about it. I couldn't understand how this very invasive procedure wouldn't work. Did they not do it right? I went back again, last month (1 year and 2 months post procedure) to meet with Dr Ruff again to discuss the lack or results. He was very nice and again, agreed, that the procedure did not generate the results he had hoped for. He even took pictures and we looked at them together. He tried to point out miniscule results and I said that it was like splitting hairs: the reason I did it was to tone up my cheeks and diminish the wrinkles and that did not happen. He offered to do the procedure again. I said, why would I do that when it didn't work the first time? He said we could go deeper this time. Shouldn't they have known to do this in the first place? aren't they the experts?!! I said I could not go through that misery again especially because I was not confident there would be any results. He said he understood. I told him I really would like a refund. He exact quote was, "I will send you something". I thanked him and told him even a partial refund would be appreciated. I told him I was so unhappy. I have two special needs kids who are extremely expensive, and I felt so guilty spending money on myself ESPECIALLY now that the procedure DIDN'T WORK! Again, he said, "I want you to be happy. I am going to send you some sort of refund". Well a month went by and I got a packet in the mail. It was a letter from him telling me that he had re-thought it and decided a refund wasn't warranted and he would do the procedure over if I liked. I WAS SHOCKED! How UNETHICAL! He told me one thing then did another. I am a business professional and owned and operated my own business for over 20 years. When you say you are going to do something to a client, you do it! He didn't. Upon further research, i have learned that the truly best laser people are doctors who do ONLY lasers. Dr. Ruff seems to do a little bit of everything with no area of specialty, in my opinion. When I learned, from two other doctors (specialists in NYC), that Fraxel laser was the laser of choice for my face I called his office to see if he did it. NO, he does not. I believe he decided to offer me what his office had available, not what was best for my face. I wish he would have said to me that he didn't use certain types of lasers that would be more appropriate for my face and give me better results. But he didn't. As a doctor performing laser I believe he should have known this (maybe he did) and told me this. Poor, poor performance all around. Completely disappointed in him and his practice. read more

I got a facial with Bonnie she was amazing. I wouldn't shut up during my facial and she answered every question. She even helped point out a medical condition Im getting treatment for now. I had 3 consults with Dr. Cohen and he was awesome. He really is nice, funny, and non judge mental. He didn't make me feel crazy and didn't rush my appointments (even when you could tell he had long days). I didn't end up getting any surgery due to lifestyle changes. But if you want people who are going to be honest about what you don't need this is the place. Even Debra (I think that's the billing coordinator) was professional when going over pricing. She encouraged the patients to think about the investment and don't rush. No one was pushy. Be aware the building parking is about $25. Consult fees are $50-$150. It would be nice if they validated parking for patients who completed a service. Also, it would be nice if the front desk staff energy and friendliness matched the providers. But it's COVID and they're at work everyday. So, I don't hold it against them. It's a little above average for pricing but I'm sure it matches the skill level of the providers. If I change my mind about surgery I'll definitely come here. read more

I found them through groupon and got 6 hair removal treatments for $88 dollars. The first time I went it was before they changed to "ruff plastic surgery" and my experience was quick, but impersonal. She didn't numb the area with ice like they're supposed to so it hurt, but the results were great. No growth between the 1st 6 weeks. However, when I showed up for my second treatment (they were ruff plastic surgery by now) they told me the laser was being serviced and I'd have to reschedule. I was mad they knew this and didn't bother calling their clients so I didn't have to waste time off and gas to drive down. They canceled the next appointment as well. I finally got my 2nd treatment and they did numb the area, but the treatment was shorter and results weren't nearly as good. A few hairs fell out, but they all grew back within a week. I went for a 3rd treatment and the person who was going to do my treatment said she couldn't because I was 6.5 months pregnant and it might be dangerous...but I had had a treatment 6 weeks before and was clearly pregnant then too. So either the other guy was unaware of the potential danger and did it anyway or didn't think the danger was real. In any case now I have to wait until I'm not pregnant anymore to continue treatment which messes up the results if not done in the proper sequence. Overall very unprofessional and not very organized. read more

Consultation I contacted the Susy Young Aesthetician via email and sent pics in of my face. She was very responsive and gave some suggestions and I decided to go for the VI Peel Appointment Started exactly on time... I cam in to get a VI Peel. The Front Desk receptionist Susie, was amazing, pleasant and warm. While sitting in waiting area. Susie, over to offer water, tea and coffee I requested hot water and she returned promptly with a smile. Service Awwww, Susy , was very accommodating and well informed on the procedure. We spoke about skin treatments for my black head and she suggested some options my Dermatologist have never offered... I was pleasantly surprised...She also said working with Dr. Ruff, solidified her decision to make this career... I love going to places where everyone is happy and feels loyalty and respect for their Boss. She let me know her skin routine and then began the peel... OMG... I have never had a deep peel so I was in shock about the immediate stinking during the application, but this dissipated within a minute, as the peel has a built in numbing agent... I had 2 applications during the visit and I looked as if I had a sun burn.... And I have never had a sun burn... My skin started to peel on the 3rd day.... Wow, I pulled off a sheet of skin... She checked up on me via email on the 3rd day, what a sweet girl... I like the results and I can see my skin a little lighter and definitely clearer... I've never thought much about plastic surgery, I was always more interested in living a natural lifestyle, but then I had two kids, turned 40 and things changed, specifically my body changed. I was even more self conscience about my stomach. I finally went in to talk with Dr Ruff and am I glad I did. 2 months later, I had lipo and a tummy tuck. I'm 4 weeks post-op I'm floored by the changes. I cried 2 weeks post opp when I decided to try on underwear and look at myself in the mirror, these were tears of joy. I've found the service to be sporadic and inconsistent - from the receptionist desk to the aestheticians. I had two aestheticians who've told me different things and done the procedures very differently - for example, one numbed and the other didn't. One even criticized the treatment given by the other. I found this mildly unprofessional and it makes me wonder why there isn't a consistent protocol for the same treatment. Most recently, I came in for an appointment and was told they could not perform it b/c it's summer and too sunny. OK, I appreciate the honesty - but this conversation could have happened over the phone. Better yet, they should have made the recommendation when I booked the appointment last spring to just skip all summer treatments. Ironically, the practice just instituted a new cancellation policy where the patient is charged full price for not canceling an appointment 24 hours in advance. A reasonable policy. But considering many of their patients are also busy professionals who rearrange their work schedules to make appointments, it would be nice if RFS extended the same consideration to their patients. read more

The facility is beautiful and the people are very nice, but none of that is important if you don't see results. And when you have a question about results, it's important that staff try to understand your problem and respond quickly to address your concerns. I had an appointment for laser hair removal on the bikini area, and a week later there have been no results. The hair is supposed to shed and regrow over a period of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments. I called today to express concern about the nonresponse and the front desk assistant suggested that it takes 6 or more treatments for the treatment to have lasting results. Yes dear, but if you'd listened to what I'd actually said, I'm pretty sure it has to first have some result in the short-term... The soonest she was able to schedule me is a week out, so it will have been two weeks since my treatment. If I don't see shedding by then, I plan to ask for a refund. The machine they used is different from other lasers I have had during treatment and I have my doubts as to whether I received proper treatment. read more

Words cannot fully express how grateful I am to this doctor. He has operated on my mother twice and each time has treated her like she was family. He was gentle, took a ton of time with her before, during and after each procedure. Each visit always had lots of hugs, laughs and a few tears of gratitude. That is my experience of Dr. Ruff the humanitarian. As for Dr. Ruff the surgeon he is precise, artful and by the book. My mother waited to have her face corrected (from Bell's Palsy) for decades out of fear of picking the wrong surgeon. On one hand it was painful for her to live with the outer reminder of this condition for so long, but on the other hand it was well worth the wait. From the time I was in middle school, I was always self-conscious about my nose. While my parents always encouraged me to think otherwise, they said that if I was still unhappy with my image by the time I turned 18, I could meet with a doctor about a possible rhinoplasty. Two months after my 18th birthday, I scheduled consults with 5 plastic surgeons in the area. The second I walked into West End Plastic Surgery, I waited no longer than two minutes before being escorted into a consultation room by the sweetest staff to take photos of my front and side profile. Moments later, Dr. Somenek was in the room with my photos on the monitor, sculpting and contouring the 3D image of my nose, as I guided him through what I was looking to change about my appearance. After a comprehensive and informative consultation, my mom and I met with the surgical coordinator, Catherine, who talked over quotes and potential surgery dates. When I say that Catherine is a ball of sunshine, I mean it. I've never met someone so professional, yet so genuine in my life. Although Dr. Somenek was going on vacation the week I was hoping to schedule my surgery, he moved around his schedule just to accommodate my needs and scheduled my surgery the morning of his flight. After this initial meeting, I immediately knew West End Plastic Surgery was the perfect practice for me. On the days leading up to the surgery, I was in contact with both Catherine and Dr. Somenek who went over everything all over again to ensure my comfort. On the morning of my surgery, I met the OR nurses, Jill and Jill, who were both so funny and sweet, easing all my nerves. Needless to say, the surgery was easy and painless. Dr. Somenek even called that night to check in on me. Although Dr. Somenek was my primary surgeon, while he was on vacation, Dr. Ruff kindly stepped in and performed my post-op visit a few days after surgery and removed my splint and stitches a week after that. He was so easygoing and funny, which was so refreshing after a few groggy days of painkillers and swollen shut eyes. While my nose was still really swollen (and will be for the next few months), I could see the structure of my new nose and cried of happiness. Now, 3 weeks out from surgery, I appreciate Dr. Somenek and his talents even more than I did before. He took the time to fully understand what I wanted to change about my appearance and gave me a nose that was not only aesthetically pleasing, but also natural looking. Every time I look in the mirror, I think of Dr. Somenek and the amazing team at West End Plastic Surgery. Over the course of the past year I've had the worst cystic acne breakout of my life. I'm a 30-year-old fair skinned Caucasian female, and the cystic acne left some horribly embarrassing infections and scars on my face; my dermatologist would give me almost weekly cortisone injections it was that bad. I was prescribed multiple topicals and oral medications but nothing was working. Towards the end of March my dermatologist recommended that I do a second course of Accutane (the first course was at 19). Accepting that there was no other alternative, I made an appointment at West End to have Dermaplane for one last removal of the dead skin and peach fuzz (you can't have Dermaplane on Accutane). Thank God I made that appointment at West End (my former go to medical spa was completely booked) otherwise I never would have met Renee. Renee took one look at my skin and realized it was massively inflamed from my topicals and told me to stop using them immediately. She also recommended Red Light Therapy. Because I was desperate to avoid Accutane I readily bought the package of 8 sessions. After 4 sessions, my skin is clearer, the scars (they were not deep) are lighter and my skin visibly looks healthy. I'm still not using retinols, but we are going to slowly reintroduce them over the course of the last two sessions. Finally, after the 8 sessions are completed I'm going to have three Clear and Brilliant laser sessions to fix the pigment and lighten/remove the scarring. I'm so thankful that Renee was able to help clear up this acne breakout and that she actually takes time to tailor treatments to each of her patients rather than just throwing products or medications at clients. I'm seeing tons of negative feedback on Ruff/Metropolitan from Groupon people in particular, and I have to disagree. The staff is great, very friendly, and TIMELY. I'm in out and DONE most days inside of about 10 minutes. I did have to wait several weeks for my first appointment (I didn't call until a week or so after the groupon sale), but that was really to be expected especially given the sheer number of people who bought the groupons. My first appointment was supposed to simply be the initial consultation, but it turned into the first treatment appointment as well. I scheduled the rest of my appointments at that point and I've never had a problem since. I have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS with these guys. read more

I recently went to Ruff for getting my pesky spare tire removed after years of exercise didn't work and I was quite amazed with how close knit the people there are. It immediately becomes apparent, especially with Mary Ellen leading the way with her smile and welcoming vibe. And she still continues to put up with me to this day with my emails that are always responded to quickly. Doctor Ruff himself didn't rush through our consult and was very patient with me, always having a smile on his face. That goes a long way. Even the front desk was a smorgasbord of positive vibes. They had three people, so there was always someone to help me, answer the phone, and assist in-office patients as well. I do believe the zapper gentleman who helped me out was Cody; his professionalism and well dressed mannerism made me feel more at ease and has since then gone above and beyond to help me when the office was closed, alleviating my concerns within minutes. Though I didn't catch the names of the other two ladies working there, they took the time to flash smiles at me while busy in their own duties. Notice a theme here? That place could double for a dentistry office and probably do better than real one. Even the nurses and anesthesiologist, Esther and jill, were a pleasure to chat with prior to my nerve wracking surgery. I have a hearing loss and they were very accommodating and understanding and treated me as one of their own. I miss them already. The only thing that stopped me from giving this place five stars was the fact that there tends to be a bouquet at the front desk that blocks Cody's face as you walk down the office. I absolutely LOVE this office and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for cosmetic procedures, both surgical and not. I've had micro-dermabrasion from Susy and she was a delight and did such a great job. I absolutely love Dr. Ruff, too, and went to him for a fairly extensive cosmetic procedure after undergoing a significant weight loss. He was so patient, attentive, and caring during my consultation and pre-op appointment. He answered every question I had and was very thorough in his explanations so I left feeling so good and excited. He nails that fine line between confidence and cockiness, where you know he is a very talented surgeon, but he not arrogant where he seems "above" anything like many other surgeons I met with during the consultation process.
