I didn't think I'd say this, but here I am -- a brisket-fueled, bourbon-sippin', proud son of Texas -- absolutely swooning over wine. Not just any wine. We're talkin' about the handcrafted, small-lot, soul-swirlin' nectar served up at St. Innocent Winery -- a place so peaceful and picturesque, it made me question why I don't live in a vineyard-covered valley full-time. My wife and I rolled up to this Willamette Valley wonderland expecting a decent lunch and some light sipping. What we got was a full-blown sensory revival under a cherry-red canopy, surrounded by forested hills that looked like they were painted by God himself after three glasses of Pinot. We opted for the St. Innocent Story Flight -- five sips of vineyard-designated poetry. My wife, being the classy half of our duo, paired hers with the Sip & Savor Experience, which was essentially an edible sonnet: summer vegetable soup so smooth it could run for office, a goat cheese tart so tangy it made my eyebrows dance, a Thai-style spare rib that nearly caused me to curse in delight, and a chocolate mousse topped with pistachio and freeze-dried strawberry that straight-up healed childhood wounds. Me? I stayed true to my roots and ordered the BBQ sandwich. Because even in Pinot country, a Texan's gotta do what a Texan's gotta do. And y'all -- that sandwich slapped harder than a summer sunburn. Juicy, smoky, piled high, with a crunch of pickled slaw and a side of ridged chips that made me weep a little. Paired with that 2019 Momtazi Pinot Noir? I felt like I was sittin' in the arms of a wine-soaked angel. Our server was a gem -- part sommelier, part tour guide, part miracle worker. She suggested we tack on the 2020 Shea Vineyard Pinot and the 2023 'Not So Innocent' Grauburgunder (a rosé of Pinot Gris). Both were showstoppers. We left with a bottle of the Grauburgunder like it was a souvenir from heaven. And just when I thought the experience had peaked -- bam! A quick tour of the facility gave us a peek behind the curtain: barrels like art installations, a tasting room polished to a shine, and a staff that clearly loves what they do. St. Innocent Winery isn't just a tasting stop -- it's a full-body, full-soul, full-Texan-approved revelation. TL;DR: Come for the wine. Stay for the views. Leave with a bottle, a smile, and a belly full of joy (and probably BBQ). Five stars and a raised glass from this grateful Texan.

He provided us with information about the house, coordinated our personal wine tastings, and a host of other information we inquired about before our travels. We were very impressed with the professional and kind responsiveness to our many questions. José conducted our two wine-tastings personally. Through José, we learned so much about Andante's history, wines, and the background of some of the staff. José was key to making our visit a time we will not soon forget. Thank you, José! The hosts/vineyard owners, Joe Allen and Karen Saul were very welcoming and greeted us personally. In addition to the wonderful wines, beautiful rolling vineyards, amazing sunrises/sunsets, and interactions with the staff, we were there to also see/hear a prominent Oregon Folk group. Unfortunately, one member became ill, and the event had to be cancelled. Joe, Karen, José, and Brandon Correa (Tasting Room Lead) realizing how disappointed we were to miss such a concert that they arranged a special surprise for us on day two of our wine tasting. Joe (on a Steinway piano) and Brandon (on Viola) played a special piece especially for us (an arrangement of Ave Maria). This was such an unexpected personal touch! The entire staff at Andante was amazing. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable. You can sense that everyone genuinely loves being there. All in all, we find Andante Vineyard to be classic, peaceful, vibrant, tasteful, and inviting. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue and staff. We cannot wait for our next visit. The service was wonderful the staff member helping us was so kind and welcoming. We tried the 2019 brut sparkling wine, and it was the perfect balance of crisp and slightly sweet. I usually shy away from sparkling wines because they can feel too heavy, but this one was light, delicate, and incredibly easy to enjoy. We also ordered the blue cheese-stuffed dates with almonds, and they were absolutely delicious! Rich, flavorful, and a perfect pairing with the wine. I do think I would have preferred the goat cheese version, but they were unfortunately out at the time. In fact, it seemed like quite a few items on the small menu were unavailable, which was a bit of a downside. Normally, even though I go to a LOT of wineries, I am reluctant to review wineries on Yelp. The…read morereason I typically hesitate is that wine tastes are so subjective to varietal preferences, where one person may love a Syrah, while another despises it. And, beyond just varietals, one person may prefer fruity lighter wines, while another may want rich, earthy, tannic flavors. It's hard to rate a winery and not comment on its wine, so I tend to suspend my Yelp postings as a result. But - now and then, a winery rises to the occasion on so many fronts, that it just merits a writeup, and I'm happy to say that Bryn Mawr is such a place. Bryn Mawr, which is Welsh for "Large Hill" is appropriately named on the top of the biggest hill in this area. While the scenery atop the hill is majestic and worth a visit for the view alone, the hill can get windy, so they can't cater to wedding events. You'll note the hill and wind depicted on their logo (which I thought was an octopus tentacle...nope!). But for a wine tasting in the Eola-Amity Hills region, this is a phenomenal venue. The current iteration of Bryn Mawr is relatively new, with current owners in place for the past 14 years or so. I think it's safe to say the wines have hit their stride and this place is up-and-coming. We did a delightful tasting with an engaging tasting room lady who enchanted us with her knowledge and love of the location. Some tasting rooms are getting pretty minimalist with their service orientation (which I call 'slug and chug'), but not here. Bryn Mawr was welcoming and interesting, like having a knowledgeable friend with us on the visit. On a tour through Willamette Valley, we felt this stop had the best overall experience and wines on our little journey. We tend to favor red wines, but we were fans of the entire tasting lineup, and would happily take home any of them. Price relative to value was very good here, with the tasting fee waived with purchase of a few bottles (which we found easy to do). I do miss the winery days of yore with $5 tastings that included a souvenir glass, but there ya go. Nothing gold can stay. Please do reserve yourself a stop, if you'd like a great winery visit.
