Dr. Kelly Harnick is the best. Top Notch trauma specialist on the island of Maui and in my opinion, probably the entire state although I have only seen therapists on Maui. Went through a few different offices and therapists until I finally hit the jackpot with West Maui Counseling Center. I finally got the help I had been searching for and Dr. Harnick is so knowledgeable when it comes to psych medications and she collaborated with my PCP and I got the prescriptions that worked for me. You could NOT go wrong calling WMCC and asking for Dr.Kelly Harnick. Her other providers are fantastic according to a friend of mine who sees someone else. High standards and professionalism bring great mental health care to Maui's West Side. read more

Don't let the blond hair fool you, (I'm blond so I'm pretty sure I can get away with that joke :) Dr. Harnick seriously knows her stuff. She is amongst the most knowledgable psychologist/therapists and overall healthcare professionals I have ever met. Furthermore, she also actually cares about her patients and the community, which can be rare these days. Her genuineness is evidenced by her years volunteering countless hours, tirelessly advocating to promote greater healthcare options for Hawaii and our nation. About two years ago, I wandered into West Maui Counseling Center looking for a professional to talk to and work through some personal troubles with. There, I found Dr. Kelly Harnick (at that time, Doty) who after our first session - made sure that I felt comfortable with her to continue our work together. At first I had some hesitation - being on a small island where people find out your business very easily - but Dr. Kelly explained her 100% commitment for confidentiality and by her approach, it was easy to see that. We continued to work together for 2+ years... and as odd as it is to say - I really enjoyed coming here. Not once, did I ever feel uncomfortable or judged by her. Not once did i feel like I was talking to a "therapist". Our sessions were seamless, and at times I felt as though I was talking to a good friend who had insightful questions and thoughtful suggestions. Our work together remained confidential until this post - as Dr. Kelly helped me grow in so many ways - I had to review this office for anyone else who is struggling with finding the right place or person to talk to. This office is very warm, welcoming, and professional. Your business remains confidential, and with this office's flexibility, it is very easy to schedule the right time for you. To West Maui Counseling Center from Jennifer Lynch December 27th 2016 If I could give WMCC a rating of ten stars, I would and it still wouldn't be enough. When you go in, you are greeted by the warm, welcoming and extremely kind Shirley Suder at the front desk. The surroundings are inviting, calm and comfortable. I see Dr. Andrew Gold, a Ph.D Psychologist. I have had counseling over many years for anxiety disorder and depression, but I have NEVER met anyone with Dr. Gold's gifts. He is not only the best listener I have ever met, he manages to extract from all that I've said, what is at the very root of the problem. His advice and counsel are invaluable. He is kind, welcoming and open, and has a great sense of humor. I cannot say enough in his praise for how much he helps me, and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who needs help. He is a gift to the profession. I leave each session feeling like a new person with a calmness brought about by his genuineness and gentleness. I started seeing Elliot, one of the counselors at West Maui Counseling Center. I was having a really hard time. I had just moved to Maui and in the process of our move our two dogs had to be quarantined. Quarantine is forced for all animals moving to the island because Hawaii has no rabies and they want to keep it that way. The dogs are quarantined for 4 months. Yes four months!!! One of our dogs died 9 days after we got here. It was the hardest thing that ever happened to me which is why I decided to see Elliot. I had no insurance so every week I was paying cash $200 to see him. He decided that instead of taking medication to help me with the loss of my dog and my other dog still in quarantine for 3 more months that an emotional support animal would be a good idea. He wrote me a note stating that an emotional support animal was necessary for me. It looked good and I thought everything was fine. NOT THE CASE AT ALL! All Elliot and this counseling center cares about is money and not there patients. He did not back up his Doctors note like he looked in my eyes, gave me his word and promised he would. I rescued an emotional support animal from the SPCA like the note said I was aloud to do and now I am being fined, and kicked out of my apartment and all Elliot has to say is I'M SORRY. He wont even call me back to help me. DON'T GO HERE! They fake it like they care but they don't at all. Its too bad because now I'm jaded to all doctors. They either want to medicate you with some drug that you will no doubt become addicted to or they want to steal your money. I feel like if i can save at least one other person out there whose like me from going to this place i have done a good thing. good luck to all :) read more

I started to go there for concerns in my personal life. Out of 11 appointments, they cancelled 8. I would get a text message saying my visit is cancelled. My credit card was overcharged without my permission for copayments. My copayments were less than the actual charge. On my intake forms I was very transparent they needed permission to charge. It was corrected, after I brought it to there attention but the energy of cancellations from there doctors and staff is totally unacceptable especially when I am in need of care. They are supposed to be there for the patient; placing our needs ahead of there office politics. Sadly, that never happen. I asked for a phone call why, no one cared, just cashed my check and off we go like cattle. More needs to be done to hold there staff accountable to keeping appointments. I go to the mainland, yet it angers me that this establishment treats people like cattle in a farm instead of making people feel warm and welcome. Might want to rethink your office approach WMCC. Prior the therapist I was seeing before them, I was told I was not allowed to see her anymore because of some paperwork issue. Later the truth came out as to why in black & white I found. Sad situation, no aloha. Not everyone is bad there, but the policies need to be better especially dealing with sick mentally ill patients. read more
