My experience at West Medical was that the business is more interested in over-charging insurance companies than treating patients. I went to both the Long Beach and Irvine facilities a total of seven times for vein treatment. After multiple ultra-sounds and two sessions of the same photos of my leg, follow-ups, etc., my leg looks exactly the same as it did before my first appointment. There is absolutely no improvement in the vein situation in my leg. I will say that everyone was very professional and the attention to detail regarding cleaniness was excellent. Unfortunately, that didn't eliminate the spider veins in my leg. I never knew what was going to happen at the next visit until I was in the room. I kept going back, but only three small veins in the back of my leg were treated. A varicose vein was cauterized (not sure of the medical term); other than those things, nothing was done. The woman who did the ultra sounds should work on being more personable. There was little communication on her part. The owner of the business keeps apologizing to patients who give the clinic low ratings. Instead of apologies, it might be a good idea to work on improving your treatment of patients. Her & I both took time off work so she could do the surgery and I would be here to drive her home. Less than 24hrs from SCHEDULED surgery time, West Medical calls my wife and was unable to make contact with her so they canceled her appointment time. This is the worst.. I waited 1 1/2 hrs. I didn't feel comfortable with west medical doing my procedure.

Do not come here! Read the reviews and proceed with caution. The staff and the entire office are unorganized and lack structure. I've been coming here for months. As a patient, I expect for them to number one, respect my time, properly educate me as to what is being done at every visit, and bill out to Insurance accordingly. That is not what has happened. I have been seen here for months for my Venous Insufficiency issues. I had ablation done in both legs as well as follow up injections. Nothing helped. I have continued to swell. I have continued to have pain and discomfort. It's like they did nothing. I have received no paperwork or treatment plan documentation . They scheduled me for a postop. I go in and they tell me I now owe $345, we are almost 6 months later from the time that they started. Don't you think that if I had a coinsurance that would apply to these visits , you should've explained that to me from the very beginning when you pulled benefits? That's not what was done here. I was only told when they sat down to explain what my out of pocket would be, that only copays would apply for each visit. I was told everything else was covered. I always request full disclosure so I can plan accordingly. Every single visit they run late anywhere from 45 minutes all the way to 3 hours behind. Scheduling is always improperly managed. Very unprofessional staff who sit outside the rooms and chitchat about what they did on the weekend and what alcoholic drinks they enjoy. Not to mention I spoke to three different staff members who also told me the staff and the office are very unorganized, management is terrible, that they are looking for other jobs. They confided that they understood why as a patient, I feel the way I do and why I am always upset during my visits. if you are having circulation issues, you need to go to an experienced, professional office where your needs are going to be addressed and pain resolved, not where you're gonna be moved around from provider to provider, be moved from room to room during visits, and have unclear awareness of charges being presented after everything has been completed. Providers come and go there as well as staff. High turnover. There are new faces each time I come. My provider left the office halfway through my treatment. This place is a complete joke. I'm surprised they're even in business at this point. When I have mentioned their name to providers, nobody has heard of them, and it makes sense. I will be restarting my treatment elsewhere, and I will also be reporting this to my insurance, filing a grievance , as well as contacting the insurance commissioner as I do not feel comfortable that these claims were billed out appropriately. read more

I had a varicose vein consultation recently at the LB location. The physician recommended a vein procedure, followed by cosmetic injections. I was hesitant to do the vein ultrasound but Janet the coordinator explained how important the Ultrasound was to determine the correct treatment. I'm glad I got the ultrasound done. Janet helped me set up the whole treatment. I'm scheduled for my procedure in 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to it! read more

I wanted to get a vein consultation and made the appointment for 10:00. I got here 15 minutes to fill out paperwork and was told there was a few people ahead of me. At 11:00 I asked the receptionist how much longer and she tells me there is still a few people ahead of me and it will be 15-20 more minutes until I even get called into a room. Get called into a room at 11:15 and was told the Dr would be seeing me in about 5 minutes. 15 minutes later the Dr comes in and briefly takes a look at my legs and then orders an ultrasound and leaves. The nurse explains to me that the only way insurance will cover a vein. Treatment is if there is an abnormal mean underneath the skin which is why they need an ultrasound. Ultrasound is not covered by insurance and cost $100 per leg. At this point I had enough and said thank you and left. What a waste of time! read more

I had to schedule follow up appointment on the 27th for another ultrasound before scheduling the procedure. This time I was told I'm not a candidate for EVLT and if I wanted to treat the vein it would be out of pocket. I walked in and although I needed to wait for another patient in line... the other person in the front desk never looked up and greeted me. Then, a friendly face helped me with paperwork as the patient left ahead of me. No one knew i was here for a consultation only and when I told the girls, they didn't relay to doctor. I was being photographed in a room that girls were going in and out of..it was strange, less than I would expect. I didn't care for the doctor, he didn't try to build rapport..I was just a number. Overall I have to say I've had a fantastic experience at est medical. The Dr. is personable and and knowledgeable, even recommended a different procedure at another office because he thought it would benefit me most. But I really want to complement the office staff. The front desk is courteous and quick. And the back office MAs, particularly Monica and Cheyenne are top notch. Very friendly, anticipate my needs as well as the physicians. Best of the best. Wait time was way too long. I'm in healthcare. I understand that there's a wait, but it was almost as if they overbooked themselves to see as many people as possible. From start to finish it took 3 hours for my entire appt. AND to top it off, while I was waiting for the doctor to come in my room, I can hear her telling the ultrasound tech to do another patient first because he was in a hurry. Mind you, my appt was before this patients because he walked in 30 min after me in the waiting room and I knew exactly who they were talking about cause I recognized the voice from the waiting room. Once the doctor got in the room she was talking very fast, I felt rushed. They also charged me a $35 office co pay. So much for a FREE consultation. I recommend going to a private vascular surgeon if you are seeking vein treatment. I will say, One good thing about them, is they sent me my medical records via mail upon my request so I don't have to repeat my ultrasound ($200) when I go see a vascular surgeon. Also, my ultrasound tech was amazing. I wish I could remember her name. She took her time and explained everything she was doing - even explained the ultrasound results as she was doing it. read more

So I came here with my mom for a cosmetic vein treatment. Appointment was at 11, we got there 10 min before, they called us back for a one time consultation 1.5 hours later:/ they were super busy on a Thursday at 11am.The dr came in said her veins weren't bad that 1-2 treatment would be ok... later a woman comes in with pricing said more than likely 2-3 treatments each leg, and said we have a sale of 300$ each treatment per leg. So my mom decides on coming in and at least twice to three times per leg (if all would go well). Fast forward one week later we came in at our appointment time, where they took photos and measurement of her legs then they took us in the back of a room where we found the Nurse Julie and her assistant Ámber were ready to complete the first treatment(syringes,medicine, etc) They were nice and attentive, they explained what would happen first and While Julie did the injections, Amber would massage her leg to stop blood loss (everything was good. 2 weeks later my mom came in alone for the second leg. Julie had no help from Amber to massage,she felt she lost a lot of blood!! Where was the help?? She was in the front office due to short staff. My mom was in pain and something didn't feel right. So the next appointment we went together. As I'm driving her on schedule Amber calls and said we were late(super bad attitude) telling us we were late and she has a lunch so she was going to ask Julie if it was ok to push their lunch back. As a patient my mom felt pressured and unwelcome. She felt like LUNCH WAS MORE important than she was. We get there about 5 min later and Amber is in front with the office lights off, saying don't do this again, you need to be here 20 min early or we will cancel, and she had a horrible attitude. My mom and I felt un important and decided to reschedule perhaps at a time Amber and staff were in a better mood and had already had lunch. Needless to say we didn't keep an appointment due to the low customer service toward the end. Not sure why they were so upset this day but they lost a lot of money with us and recommendations. I would never recommend this company. I believe customer service is prime and should be genuine. When it's not, then it's fake, and work is not done properly. I would say stay away! Research! I signed up for vein injections (preventative care) and had my fourth session today. My insurance didn't cover the procedure but the consultant allowed me to make 3 payments. I was very pleased with Nurse Gracie, who I believe tended to me 3 out of the 4 times. She'd let me know when to expect a little poke, which helped me brace myself. She would also massage the area after each poke, which made the area feel better. The four sessions were spread out and in the meantime, I saw results between each session. Thank You! read more

Love the all the staff here . I got a lot of my vein treatments here. I'm very happy with my legs' results. The staff is very productive and very courteous . Nurse Julie and nurse Vee are amazing ! Julie is so gentle and knows what she is doing. Vee makes sure you are always comfortable. The clinic is clean and comfortable. If you can get through the circle of madness around the roundabout you will be home free . I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment to fill out paperwork as I was a new patient. 35 minutes later I asked if they were running behind because I had to return back to work to Downtown Los Angeles and the receptionist told me there was a patient in the room with the doctor and I should be next. Then she asked if I was informed the consultation would take 45 minutes from the time I entered the room with the doctor. Shouldn't it start from the time of my appointment? My sister's procedure could not have gone better! It's been about 6 months now, and the results are really showing. Her procedure is called the sleeve gastrectomy and West Medical really took care of her, especially Dr. Hooman! I went to this clinic to have the orbera balloon inserted. The staff is wonderful, however the program for the balloon under this clinic lacks sufficient support. When you get the balloon, all of the beginning stages of the process are great. Once you get the balloon that is when you need the support the most. What you're offered is a phone call from a nutritionist once the month and a 10 minute follow up with the doctor at the clinic once the month. There are no menus, exercise, eating regimen or guidelines provided. This procedure is way to expensive for you not to receive program tools. They do give you a badly copied 20-30 page manual, that lacks professionalism. I'm sure this is what their idea is of a program tool, but if you saw it you would laugh and change your mind. Unfortunately you're given this crap after the insertion. This program needs much improvement for an $8000 procedure fee. Save your money and find a doctor/ clinic that will provide you with a more supportive program, which will assure you with better results. I lost 20lbs of the 50lbs I wanted to lose.
