We booked our boat tour of Assateague Island and OC bay reservation online for four of my family members. This was our first time here. We were here in the morning. I parked my vehicle in the restaurant parking lot. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our boat to return from their current tour. When our boat arrived they unloaded their passengers so we could board for our tour. Our boat was packed with too many customers. We were on a high powered boat. We went out to the inlet and then turned around because the waves were too strong to go out into the Atlantic Ocean. We returned to the bay and eventually saw the wild ponies on Assateague Island. After seeing the wild ponies we returned back to the dock. The bay was littered with sand bars. Luckily our boat had a depth finder. There was one very large sand bar when we returned to our dock. Our captain knew where all the sandbars were located so he avoided them. Overall our cruise took about 1 hour. We were pleased with our cruise. More to come regarding our lunch. read more

Great little relaxing boat ride. We learned a lot about ocean city during this excursion. We unfortunately did not see any dolphins but got a glance at many horses and other wildlife. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We will for sure be taking this tour next time we are in oc !! read more

Total waste of money! The dolphin and pony tour is a rip off. We went out, but didn't go to Asateague Island. The driver basically takes you wherever he feels like going. Additionally, the driver had some things to say, we couldn't hear any of it, because he didn't have a microphone or anything. It was a very bumpy ride. I'm not sure how much of that the driver can control, but he didn't seem to be making any effort to minimize it, despite the fact that there was a little boy in our boat crying because he was so scared. The drivers work for tips, so I have no idea where the $160 went. read more

We rented a pontoon boat for a little fishing in n the bay. The staff was every helpful and virtuous. The boat was in great condition and everything worked as it should, even the boat wireless speakers. Also open at 8:00 am for the early fishing. We will definitely rent from them again. read more

If I could give There's a zero star review I absolutely would. I wouldn't waste my money if you're interested in seeing wild horses to the Assateague adventure they actually pull up on the island. It also says that there will be dolphins there were none. It was a rather disturbing ride all around. We sat with a family that was very disturbing and the captain barely spoke! It was basically and there's Assateague Island and there's horses. That's about all he said! You can tell Home they are when their stomach blows up from the salt water that they have to drink. To start off, some positives to note are that the staff and dockhands are kind and helpful. They do a lot of the heavy lifting/maintenance of the rentals and we appreciated their care. We booked a pontoon boat for my family of 8. For a 4 hour rental the price ended up being over $500 with fees included. We arrived 45 minutes before our rental time to ensure all waivers were signed and the boat could be prepped, in which we still were not told we could get on until ten minutes past our time. Initially, all of us noticed that the boat was literally sitting crooked in the water before loading. We kindly asked and the staff told us it was just the dock making it look that way? Ok. Moved on. Upon boarding the boat the quality of the pontoon was ATROCIOUS. The cushions were torn, fallen in, everything was rusted and held together with bolts and bungee cords. There was trash in the seats and in the consoles. Not to mention 2 out of the 3 doors did not latch and continuously flew open which was a safety hazard to all. Being on the water is a nice experience, but so not worth the money to go here. read more

The people who work here are very nice and hard working. They got us on the boat very close to our reserved time. The waters we were boating in were great: We rented a platoon with a tube for our kids. Our boat was in a very poor condition. The engine kept cutting off, the boat was moving slow. The tube rope kept getting cut in the engine because there was nothing to hook the rope to above the engine like in other boats we had rented before. Upon our comeback - we were told there was a hole in the engine. Amongst little things - all the doors were loose, and we couldn't open the cabinet with the medical kit and fire extinguisher. I'd like for the owners of this place to inspect their boats more often and not let bad boats to be rented. read more

Booked the OC Safari Tour Boat ride this afternoon.... Worst boat ride of my life. First the captain (Captain Jake) made us wait 30 minutes past the 4:30 start time to leave.... then it was essentially a speedboat ride. We didn't see any wildlife, we got soaking wet and I'm pretty sure I'll be bruised from being slammed around so much on the boat. Disappointing doesn't even begin to describe it. read more

Rented pontoon boat from here 2 years ago and it was great. When we decided to get a boat again of course we went back. What a mistake. Arrived early as requested, filled out all paperwork and got ready to go. Watched worker pull out our pontoon boat and crash it into the prop of another boat. Had to have another employee assist him. Boat listed to one side very badly. At one point we were swamped by the wake of another boat. My 4 year old granddaughter was terrified. 2 of the doors did not close securely. Seats covered in mold. None of the gauges in working order, we didn't even know how much fuel we had. At one point a parasailing boat captain sailed over to us to tell us we were sinking and asked if we wanted the coast guard. 4 hour rental we went back in 30 minutes early. My husband had a hard time getting close to dock so worker boarded to assist and crashed into dock 3 times. We could have done that ourselves. If management doesn't care about the equipment then the workers won't either. We will not be back. read more

I was not very happy with my experience with West OC Watersports. BUYER BEWARE! My first issue was their responsive. I left about four emails with a question about the Flounder Pounder. I never received a call back. On my fifth attempt, I got someone on the line who was actually pretty helpful. I was able to book the trip with her on the line. Once we got there, the gear was very old and in poor shape. The captain had a very difficult time finding the fish. In fact, the guys on the boat started referring to it as the Flounder Tapper instead of the flounder pounder. I would have classified this as more of a sight seeing tour or booze cruise with some fishing, than an actual fishing charter. My biggest issue came when a keeper flounder (flounder bigger than 17 inches) was caught. Despite multiple requests from all of the paying customers on the boat, most of which were avid fisherman, to release the fish alive, the captain refused. He grew so annoyed with our attempts to get him to release the fish, he took out a knife and cut off the head of the flounder like a Jihadi terrorist executing a western reporter. It was pretty bizarre. I should have listened to the reviews on here and Google and found a different option, so I am partly to blame as well. I would discourage anyone from using this company in the future. Don't make the same mistake I did! read more

This place is a racket. Just rented a pontoon boat here with a group of adults and they give you a bad map, with no clear indicators of landmarks to guide you. The area is very riddled with sand bars and hard to navigate. Needless to say, we got stuck multiple times, and stalled. When we were able to anchor and swim around, our anchor got stuck on something and the non-industry grade rope snapped like floss. We had 7 people trying to pull the anchor in before the rope snapped off, putting a huge dent in the door as it did so from the force. Two of the scariest hours of our lives that we will not get back, not to mention they charged us an extra $150 for the damage to their boat that was 28 years old and not in seaworthy condition. read more

What a fantastic experience! My family and I rented a 12 person pontoon and added the tube. Initially, I accidentally added the fisherman package instead of the tube, but the staff were quick to fix our reservation once we got there. They also refunded the extra money promptly. Before arriving, I had emailed and called to try to fix the reservation and nobody answered, but they fixed the problem after all. Once it was time to get on the boat, Cam was a great teacher, always friendly and ready to help. This was the first time any of us did this, but it felt like we were pros with all the help. We went on the Ocean safari ride which took one hour. Five adults and one two year old child. This provided us with just the right amount of time on the water as we looked for wide horses on the shore of Assateague Island and dolphins along the Ocean City beach. The captain was super informative and pleasant. Well worth the time. read more

We did the Safari boat ride this week with Adam at the helm. We left on time and Adam had a very relaxed but engaging manner in the way that he shared where we were going, its history and what we were seeing. We only saw one Assateague pony (George), but lucked up with dozens of dolphins, many of which were very close to the boat. The boat itself handled the waves we encountered very well and jostling and bouncing were kept to a minimum. All in all, a great time on the water and we felt our money was well-spent. read more

We will never rent from this place again, as IT WILL RUIN your vacation. If the other places are booked up, don't rent from this place. Find another activity to do. Worst experience on renting a boat. As a local, and a person who rents a boat every year , I was appalled by the lack of safety and security these pontoon boats have. We rented the boat for 4 hours with my husband who is disabled, my almost 70 year old mother, and my 2 teenage kids. We had to return in 2 hours because the engine kept stalling and the anchor wasn't attached to the boat. We also could not use the ladder for it was unstable and not attached to the boat. It wasn't functioning, and this boat should have never been cleared for use. I had to haul my family out of the water, and as a result most of them have scrapes and cuts. The boat is old, and very torn. it also goes really slow, and no one could use the tube because you couldn't safely enter or exit the boat. Upon our return, speaking to the dock hands, they were very rude and indifferent to the problems that had occurred whilst being on the boat. If I could give a zero star I would. read more

Horrible experience! Waste of almost 400 $ and 2 hours of our time. We rented a boat , planning to go for water boating and to have 2 hours of fun . Cameron , the young guy who was explaining about the details of boat riding was very rude ! He asked me a few times not to interrupt him, while he was explaining about the instruction, but guess what Cameron: you are talking too fast with your mouth covered with a face mask about a topic that is very important for an inexperienced person and I can not stay silent and not to ask questions, when I don't understand you ! I asked to talk to the manager, but of course there wasn't any ! Long story short , we did a 2 hours boat ride , we got stuck in the seaweeds multiple times and we didn't get a chance to do the water tubing just because of the poor instruction that we received at the beginning! read more

Rented a pontoon boat for a little more than $200 with an early bird special coupon from one if the local coupon books, which is a crazy deal. Boat was older, a little rough looking... but it drove well so who cares? We weren't expecting anything fancy at that price. We had an awesome time, found a sand bar to play on for awhile (there's a lot of sand bars out there!). Appreciated the map to find (& not run aground on) the sandbars. Deck hands were helpful. Stay away from the pontoon boats- My wife and I rented a 12 seater pontoon boat and it was a bad experience. Before departing, Dylan, our instructor/dockhand mentioned the depthfinder and fuel gage was not working, but not to worry he just filled the tank, and if we run aground raise the outdrive and lower the speed to free ourselves from any sandbar. I have about 18 years boating experience, so I was more than familiar with using the trim to help free the boat up when running aground. We were underway for about 20 minutes and sure enough we got stuck -twice. The navigation map he gave illustrated landmarks that were very blurry (copy of a copy of a copy), listed no nautical markers, and the trim control didn't work. I phoned Dylan for help who arrived in about 15 minutes via jet ski. He jumped in the water and tried to move the boat off the sandbar, but it would not budge. I asked if I should jump in and help. He told me no, the trim is broken and he needed to go back to the dock to get a tool. During this ordeal I observed 2 other pontoon boats stuck on a sandbars about 100 yards away, while Dylan took a call for what sounded like yet another watercraft in distress. After waiting for about 15 minutes for Dylan to return with the tool I decided to jump in the water and see what I could do. I had my wife stand on the bow to take some weight off the back of the boat and I was able to push us back in deeper water and get us underway again. Dylan finally arrived back and when I told him I still wanted the trim fixed he said he couldn't because the boat needed to be in shallow water that he could stand in to do the work. Thoroughly frustrated at that point my wife and I decided to return to dock and end the trip early. Summary- don't rent a pontoon boat from this place. The electronics are disabled and the dockhand is no help. Thank god the rest of my family including grandkids decided not to go at the last minute, which would have made things much more stressful. read more

We went out and had a decent enough time, but only caught 3 fish. I don't blame the CPT for that, but we did catch a keeper and said we wanted to let it go and he said he caught it and he gets to keep it and cut its head half off and let it bleed out on the deck in front of everyone. After we said we wanted to let it go because we didn't want it to die. Weird guy and probably should not be around knives or in charge of a boat. He should probably go seek help. Great customer service with very helpful staff. Dockhands made everyone on the boat feel comfortable and safe before leaving the dock. Family and kids had an amazing day on the boat. But he sure to follow the directions of the dock hands, as the bay can sometimes be tricky to navigate without some assistance before heading out on your own.
