For me, Real Change is the ONE way I can give to the homeless and really and truly feel like I'm doing the right thing. Real Change vendors are people on the cusp. People deciding to make the first difficult steps to getting back on track. Real Change is a good thing in a bad world, and I really want you to understand why. Real Change vendors actually have to buy the copies that they sell on the street and Real Change allows them to keep the profit! Vendors have to agree to a code of conduct at work, just like the rest of us that says, among other things, that they can't be intoxicated while working or they will loose their vendor rights. When I look at a Real Change worker, I don't see a homeless person, I see a employed person. ONLY BUY FROM AUTHORIZED SELLERS. You can tell this by looking for their Real Change Identification Badge. I only give to Real Change vendors anymore, and I give as much as I can afford! When they say "Thank You", I really mean it when I say "It's my pleasure". I wish there were more programs like this. I wish we had passed the legislation for a homeless center at South Lake Union. Just a place where people can take a shower, pick up some clothes, and use a computer... is that so much to ask? Vote.

I'm goin' doooown toooown to Seattle! YEEESSS! Absolutely love Seattle's downtown area. There's so…read moremuch to do and see here, and a lot of the attractions are walking distance from each other. While the weather ain't like my home in California, the sights are most certainly bedazzling. Downtown is filled with skyscraper buildings, coffee shops galore, shopping, entertainment, and lots of foodie spots. The Downtown area is also really close to a few other popular districts in the area including Lower Queen Anne, South Lake Union, Pioneer Square, The Seattle Waterfront, and the Seattle Center. Some popular attractions nearby that are worthy of your visit include The Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, The Seattle Waterfront, and of course: Pike Place Market! If for nothing else, you MUST visit Pike Place Market! That market is unbelievable. You could literally spend hours there and never get bored. And the best part of all; it's located right smack dab in the middle of downtown. Yep! Downtown Seattle has got it goin' on!

It was a 4-hour who's who of Seattle, from some of the more prominent places (and even chains) to small businesses that were looking to expand beyond their neighborhood gem status. High marks go to those who took the opportunity to showcase the full extent of their offerings (esp. The Westy, Tuxedo and Tennis Shoes, and Duke's) and understood that you have to spend money to make money. Dirndls for the German place was a nice tough, too. The offerings turned out to dessert-heavy, and the layout didn't seem to have a natural flow. But who cares--Taste of West Seattle was supposed to be a night to stumble upon new things, and maybe a haphazard layout facilitated just that, elbows in the ribs notwithstanding. Not sure this was the wisest choices for location, and I think more thought could go into the venue. It was central, sure, but by nothing. Uber there and back was fine, but the 600+ticket-holders easily exceeded the limited street parking options. The alcohol ranged from average to meh, vindicating my decision not to go with the VIP ticket that would have granted unlimited drinks. As it was, I ended up giving away the drink coupons since bitter, flat beer did little for me. Highly recommend and will return!

I've walked the 'Walk' for the last 8 years, and last year, my bro participated in the MS 150 Bike Ride. 150 miles in two days, people.. up Chukanut Drive, no less. It ain't no picnic. This year.. well, we all did the walk, but I didn't get my biz together enough to ride. My dad, my bro and my uncle ended up riding (and finishing!) and I volunteered with Moms. They put on an amazing two day event in La Conner with a great amount of excitement and encouragement, support, live music, testimonials. and a beer garden! There is so much enthusiasm, so much effort spent in looking for a cure, so much support. It's truly an amazing thing to be a part of. The first ride (4 years ago) consisted of 300 riders. This year, there was over 2000, with over $1.4 million dollars raised. Impressive? I think so. I can't wait for next year. I look forward to wearing spandex shorts.. *shudder* Washington State has one of the highest rates of MS in the nation. I'm thankful we have such a great organization, working diligently to find a cure.

They make you feel like a family and community, not just a preschool. I enjoyed all their events, self-care packages for the parents. During the pandemic RIFC really supported parents with materials to do activities at home, communicated about all the COVID policies, and gave us much support. Her attending RIFC preschool prepared her for kindergarten! We appreciate all the teachers hard work!!
