My boys have the best dog walker! Neighbors have approached me to inquire about my walker, Jacob, as he's so very likable and also protective of my dogs - which I appreciate so much since one is a senior boy. They tell me frequently how patient and loving he is -- and because he's so reliable there's the regulars that interact near daily on the rounds through the park and neighborhood. (And the regulars are a watchful crew! I love they care so much for my dogs and my walker.) My senior rescue boy, Remy, is now 13 and Jacob has been so caring and patient with him as he's aged. His little arthritic legs do not always want to go... and Jacob is so thoughtful with his care. You can tell how much he loves dogs (and I like to think my Remy a bit more!) And Remy LOVES Jacob! If anyone can get his little fur-butt up and going, with many wiggles and wags, it is Jacob. They have a special bond and that comes with time - having a consistent walker has been a blessing for me. I also have a new rescue, Louie, who has fallen in love with Jacob too. Probably too much! He's already a bit of a velcro-bug, wiggling in to get Jacob's attention, but if Remy gets a little love, Louie is right there being demanding. Jacob is so patient and helpful with his training. It takes a village to un-train and retrain so I'm grateful that Jacob is so open and patient. I've been with West Town Walkers for a few years and can easily say they are genuine, flexible and trustworthy -- not to mention consistent with longevity of the walkers. I felt folks out there should know that yesterday Robin requested I post a review for her company which I did. Apparently the four out of five stars was not to her liking. she then tried to pressure me to remove my genuine honest review because she felt it hurt her company's overall ratings which it absolutely did not. Today I was told by Robin my dog walker is no longer available in the afternoons leaving me in a bind. To make things worse, I was also told by my building security today that Jacob had mention to them yesterday that it was his last day walking my pup. Unbelievable, how do you tell the security guy but not the client?? So the 4/5 star review has to be 1 star ....but I would give zero if possible. Robin can try to respond to my updated review by saying I wasn't scheduling daily afternoon walks but she knows the family crisis happening now which causes my schedule to sometimes change. Besides that I have had a need for some afternoon walks each week and never told her I would no longer need them. So there is no reason to pull the rug out from under my feet and leave me with no dog walker in the afternoon with absolutely no notice. Plus pressuring a client to remove their rating is not acceptable. If she can't handle the truth then she shouldn't have asked for a review in the first place. read more

I think I may asked almost everyone I knew in the area with a dog including the Doctors & staff at our Veterinarians office as to who they used to walk their beloved doggies and WTW got more than glowing reviews each and every time! Jacob has been walking our rather rambunctious pup for the last couple of months and has been wonderful to work with. Our building staff have gone out of their way multiple times to tell me as to how great he is with every doggy they have seen him with vs. the many other walkers who come through the building. He is kind, polite, reliable and you can tell that he honestly loves his job and the doggies in his care. Our pup is thrilled to see him each time and we couldn't ask for anything else. After reading reviews, I setup an interview through Robin with a walker who would be available in the timeframe I would usually be looking for a walk for my pup. Robin makes the process very easy- a text on Saturday on the weekend asking what days I'll need walks scheduled. My dog is walked around the same time every day, and my walker Jacob sends me texts letting me know how my dog did and usually a picture. Payment is a breeze with walk "packages"- you purchase walks in a pack of 10- through venmo, and robin reminds you when it's time to repurchase. I've also had to book semi-last minute walks- a day before or day of- and robin has never had a problem accommodating me. Overall, I can't recommend them enough. Called and spoke with the owner to find out more about their services. She was great to talk to and appeared to be super flexible on price. I requested an in-person interview for regular walks of my 2 dogs plus some in-house pet sitting, which was setup for the following evening (Wed) as I needed someone to start on Monday. An hour before our appointment, the owner called to reschedule for Thursday evening. I couldn't do the time she requested and was willing to meet Thursday morning. Upon hearing that I was interviewing multiple services, she backed out completely of even meeting me and taking me on as a client. If this is West Town's business model, then I'm happy to never have given them any business. Based on my experience, I give zero stars and would not recommend. To start of, I have been using West Town Walkers daily for 3 weeks now, and will continue to use them for a while. I am very thankful for Rebecca and Robin at West Town Walkers. I recently got a puppy (www.smokeepug.com) and needed someone to walk him twice a day as I work from 8-6pm. West Town Walkers walks my dog twice a day, and in addition to that also feeds him and plays with him. My puppy is always happy when I come home, and I am thankful for that. A few other great tings about working with West Town Walkers are: 1) They are very flexible and respond to text messages promptly. Sometimes I get off work at 1pm on Fridays and can hence walk my puppy on Friday afternoons. I text them in the morning and they are ok with canceling the afternoon walk, without any cancelation fees! 2) They write a quick log of each walk and how my puppy did. I love coming home and reading them. 3) They always respond to text messages promptly so if I have any new directions like feeding schedule, or leash training etc., I can simply text them. 4) I have been taking my puppy to training school. West Town walkers also helps with reiterating my training commands to my dogs while on walks, to keep consistency and hence help my dog to get trained quicker. We started using West Town Walkers after our long term dog walker from Rover could no longer walk our dog, Cassie. Initially, we went with Rover because it was well advertised, we needed help ASAP after adopting Cassie, and our dog walker was excellent. However, on the rare occasion that he was sick or could not make the walk, I was left scrambling to find my own replacement and ensure they had a key etc. I found West Town Walkers and Robin through Google and they offer a great deal for first time packages for rescue dogs. Robin checks in every week for the weekly schedule and reminds me when I need to reload the walk package. Additionally, their rates are super competitive, they are willing to work with you for last minute schedule changes, and they arrange for replacement walkers if your normal walker is not available. That is HUGE and so so helpful when you have a million other things going on. Cassie was also diagnosed with heartworm and had exercise restrictions. She also has had some bowel issues that have required ensuring she goes outside regularly. Robin and our walker, Patrick, were so great about understanding her needs and adjusting accordingly. Robin and the rest of the West Town Walkers team basically became part of our family. Robin started walking our first furry child, a Welsh Corgi, when he was just a puppy. Robin also started walking our second furry child, a Cavalier King Charles, when she was 8 weeks. Both dogs looked forward to seeing Robin everyday. Robin and the other walkers truly knew how to handle, speak to, and care for our dogs and all the other dogs they met along their walks. The West Town Walkers team are very trustworthy as well. Background checks are performed on the walkers, which I always thought was important. They are also very reliable. Even if Robin wasn't able to walk the pups one day, she would send a substitute in her place, so no matter what a walker would be there at the same time everyday. Lastly, they are flexible. If something comes up last minute and you can't make it home to walk your dog, Robin usually can work something out and coordinate an additional walk. When my little family moved to the suburbs, I don't know who it was harder on, the doggies or Robin! I can't say enough about the West Town Walkers. They are the best. read more

But, Alec, our walker is wonderful. We have a little puppy that is 3 months and a 5-year old dog... He is amazing with both... he has a lot of patience with the little one (who can be a handful) and is super communicative if he sees anything unusual. I strongly and objectively believe that West Town Walkers is one of the best dog walking services in the Chicagoland area. I continue to use West Town Walkers every day. I literally have NEVER had one problem with the company or its owners. In addition to my experience, she (Robin) is well regarded in the industry. I am a first time dog owner who has, yes, become one of those obsessed dog owners (even though I promised myself that I would not--smile). There are very few people and/or places that I trust with my dog, Sadie. West Town Walkers and Robin are in this small circle of people who I trust to take care of her. Robin has always gone over and beyond the call of duty to meet my last minute requests. When she isn't able she has reached out to others who might be able to assist me (this has only happened twice--once I called at 2pm on a Saturday for a Saturday evening feeding & walk; the other time I called on a Sunday morning for a Sunday afternoon walk--both times she was out of town but did her best to help me.) I continue to refer West Town Walkers to my friends who are just as crazy about their dogs as I am. In fact, I just referred someone to her last week. I want to reiterate that nothing in my experience has ever given me any reservation about using the company. Trust me, if that ever changes, I would not have a problem posting a negative rating. Due to Yelp's unfair rating practice, West Town Walkers now has an unfair rating. On a related note. I was dismayed to learn that my honest review was "filtered" along with others. In fact, I was so upset to learn about Yelp's policy and an algorithm that they use (so much for "Real people Real Reviews") that I took the time to e-mail Yelp a lengthy note about my concern and the impact that their practice can have on small businesses, new businesses and how the filtering practice is quite misleading.
