This is the home away from home for my pup. He races out of the car and pushes the door open upon arrival! My rescue is treated like a king or prince for daycare and overnights. The staff is all full time, considerate, accommodating, and consistent. I get photos of my doggo regularly throughout the day when he boards or stays over. There are extra services available, such as washes and nail trimming, special one-on-one time, and walks, and a healthy meal plan. I don't know what I would do without this clean, stimulating, safe, and loving environment for my five year old lab/hound. If you are looking for a doggie daycare or just simply a Dog groomer, look no further! I absolutely love Green Dog. My girlfriend found this local place to take our dog to and since then our lives have been easier. I don't know if they have treadmills for the dogs but whenever my boy comes home, he is exhausted, not to mention happy!! They offer grooming as well, with some of the best pricing I've seen in the city. I started taking my 1.5 year old pup to Green Dog for daycare once a week, and have truly appreciated the great care the Green Dog team has shown Bama! I get updates periodically via Instagram on how she's doing during the day, and everyone has been super responsive any time I've emailed, called or DM'd the team. I know my dog really enjoys her time compared to another daycare we tried because her tail wags like crazy any time we head in Green Dog's direction. The team's pandemic policy is also greatly appreciated - they have a little vestibule where you can drop off your dog and their food with no contact from other people. Staff is waiting just on the other side for you to leave, so there's minimal contact between people but also the dogs are promptly brought into the Green Dog space. So very sad to be writing this review. This place used to be wonderful, but now I wonder how anyone goes there for daycare. I don't do daycare anymore, but I used to when Brenda owned this wonderful place. I only need boarding now and the last three times my dog has come back so filthy that I can barely let her in my house. The kicker is when I asked how she got so filthy the worker got super defensive about it. I certainly don't expect my pup to come home clean, but when her white parts are dark gray and I have to bathe her immediately after vacation or work trips, I become more and more against ever utilizing their services. That never happened when Brenda owned GD. My guess is they just don't have the same standards of cleanliness that she did and it shows. How people take there dog there daily is beyond me if their dog comes back a quarter of the filthiness mine did. Guys, seriously, clean the space where the dogs play! It's especially filthy! Again, I'm so very sad to leave this review as we've used GD through at least three dogs. I do think the care is good but the filth is now outweighing anything else and it's just not acceptable. I know you can do better and it's disappointing that you've slid into this dark space. I would truly pay more to make sure I didn't get my dog back in the filthy state she was in. So very disappointing I wish you all the best but it's goodbye for me. read more

I can't say enough great things about Green Dog. We have only used the company for the dog walking service, but all of our interactions with management have been wonderful. I really enjoy how the company sets you up with a consistent dog walker, especially when you have a timid and shy dog like mine. Their is no other word to explain how wonderful, kind, and patient our walker [Emily] is with my dog. I specifically liked how the online portal send you an email at the start and end of the walk, and it makes it easy to schedule your walks in advance. The only reason why we are moving on from the company is because we are moving out of the neighborhood. We have used Green Dog as our dog walker for several months but today is the last day we will use them. This is why: 1. A few months ago, our walker lost the keys to our apartment and waited 1.5 hours to call us and let us know they couldn't get in. Our walker said they had tried to retrace their steps to find the keys before calling. At the time, our puppy was on puppy walks (2 shorter walks per day). This meant that he had not been let out for 4-4.5 hours. We had to leave work early to let him out by the time we got home he had peed. We were annoyed but recognized that things happen and people make mistakes so we continued to use Green Dog. 2. More recently, our regular dog walker was out and someone new came to walk our dog. This walker forgot to give our puppy his food. By the time we got home from work, our puppy had not eaten in 8 hours. When we called Green Dog, we questioned why they never notified us that someone new (someone we had never met) was coming our home to walk our dog. They said they always notify customers of this - but we never got a call. They also said this new walker was told to feed our dog but he must have forgotten. 3. Our walker leaves us daily notes to let us know how the walk(s) went. A few weeks ago, there wasn't a note and our dog had peed inside. After verifying that we had scheduled walks for that day, we called Green Dog and asked if the walker had actually come. They said they had but had just forgotten to leave a note. 4. Today, the dog walker had not come to walk our dog 2.5 hours after his scheduled walk. Our dog was scheduled for a 45 minute walk at 12:30 PM and at 3 PM there was still no sign of the walker. This is beyond the window for scheduled walks. I really hope this was the first time this is happened but I have my suspicions that it is not. Green Dog staff have always been friendly and apologetic whenever we talk to them on the phone. However, apologies do not solve these systemic issues. read more

I wholeheartedly agree with every five-star review written here - you really won't find a better spot to leave your pup...Green Dog is the best! We started using Green Dog when our pup was young and needed an occasional weekday walk. Their puppy walks option (2x/day, shorter in duration) were perfect for young pups that need to go out more frequently. Plus, each time I called - even with very short notice - they've were able to accommodate, and were beyond kind about it. We recently graduated to doggy daycare a few times a week, and our pup comes home absolutely wiped with a giant doggy grin on his face each day he's there. Honestly, stopping at Green Dog is my favorite part of the day...my pup just so darn happy going in and coming out of their door - his excitement is infectious! And really, that's all the proof I need to know that Green Dog is doing its job exceptionally well day after day. Compared to other providers nearby, the prices are very competitive - especially so when you consider the top-notch digs and fun perks, like human cookies on the counter at the end of a long work day and the behavior report cards. Bully breeds love this place (see my photo)! If you want a great, cozy, more attentive experience for your dog this is the place to be. I've tried the "bigger" ones around town, the facilities and attention are not anywhere close to what green dog has. Ask for a tour at the other places... might be alarmed to what you see (and smell...). We boarded our golden retriever here for the first time this past weekend. We were in a last minute bind to find a kennel, and Green Dog Inc. worked with us to get our dog evaluated the night before we left so that we could drop him off the following morning. Our dog is a typical golden. In other words, he has a LOT of energy and enjoys being outside and playing. We loved that Green Dog had an outdoor area that allowed him to play outside with the other daycare dogs rather than being cooped up in a crate all day. While he was excited to see us when we picked him up, he started dozing on the way home; clearly tired from a weekend of playing. Moreover, Javier lives above the kennel, and can be reached virtually all day, every day. Our flight on Sunday evening was delayed due to weather, but Green Dog Inc. allows you to set up a late pickup (for a fee). With a quick phone call, Javier let us arrive late, let us inside, and gave us our happy and tired pup to take back home. While it's a little pricier than what we are used to, it's worth the piece of mind knowing that our dog is being taken care of, and under someone's supervision for the majority of the day/night. read more

Green Dog is great! My dog is always so excited to go to daycare and comes home completely wiped out...I have never seen him behave so well! Brenda, Megan and the guys are great at keeping the dogs separated into groups with like-mannered dogs and are on top of anything they think needs reporting- even if it's just something funny my dog did that day or a good picture they snapped of him (they take digital pics and upload them every month on the website - love it!). I never feel bad about having my dog board here when I'm away because he still gets to partake in daycare (which they have 7 days a week) and as a regular-attending dog, we get GREAT discounts on boarding prices. This places assuages my pet-owning guilt better than any other I've tried. I turned to dog day care as a last resort after losing a Tempurpedic mattress, three rugs, and numerous shoes and sandals to a dog with disturbing levels of separation anxiety. He's now grown out of it, but I still can't bring myself to leave him at home alone all day, even with a dog walker stopping by. He's a sensitive boy. Anyway, Green Dog has been great for him. It's amazingly convenient (which I guess is more of a benefit for me than him, but whatever) and Brenda and her staff really seem to care about the dogs. And the fact that it's all eco-friendly is nice as well -- apart from the barking, it seems more like a spa than a kennel. Basically, whether you're looking for day-care or boarding, I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

It is easy for me to say I love Green Dog but that facts are that Hoober really loves green dog. I bring Hoober to Green Dog about 3-4 days a week and he comes home exhausted and he looks forward to going to see his buddies as often as I take him. I have boarded him here also and it is nice to know he playing with his buddies each day while I am away and well taken care for by Brenda and her staff. We have been bringing our two dogs to Green Dog for day care for three years now. We also board them there when we go away. We could not be happier with the way Brenda and her team treat them. In fact, since we moved from Bucktown to Roscoe Village, Green Dog has become quite inconveniently located for us, yet we would not think of bringing our dogs anywhere else. One of our dogs is, shall we say, high strung? Whereas other places might throw up their hands, Brenda's people have worked carefully with him to make sure he doesn't get too rambunctious when other dogs arrive and depart. In that and all other respects, we are confident that our dogs are getting the best care they can possibly get. The facility is also remarkably clean and serene. Our dogs never smell bad when they come home, and I have never heard any of the crew yell in anger at a dog. Always calm and positive. Five stars. read more

We recently moved from the East Coast to Chicago and were sad to leave our last kennel, but feel so lucky to have found Green Dog Inc. They are a small kennel with a small staff which is great for our anxious Doxie! It takes her a few times to warm up to new people and places, but they are very good with her. I love that when we pick her up she doesn't smell like a kennel...that speaks to how clean they keep the space, inside and out! They have a great play area outside. My Ruby has been getting walks with Green Dog since I brought her home. They are professional and very reliable. Since they introduced their scheduling app, it is truly seamless. I have her scheduled for a few walks a week, but if things get busy at work, I can schedule her for an ad hoc quickly and they respond. Highly recommend their services. My previous beloved daycare was unable to re-new their lease, leaving me stuck trying to find another place that I could trust with my soph. Easier said than done, as there are hundreds of doggie daycares here, there are also a looooot of horror stories. So, after a lot of research, came upon Green Dog Inc, and am so happy I found them. The dogs rotate being outside and inside in a calm, crated area that is out in the open and viewable from the front desk. Green Dog has been awesome in helping with my one year old pup Jackson! My wife and I both work in the loop, so one us can usually take him out during the lunch hour. However every now and then have a lunch or meeting pop up, leaving me unable to make it home. Sometimes I'll call up Brenda at Green Dog to schedule a walk as late at 10 am and she is still able to have Jackson walked and taken for a play session with Abby. Abby always leaves such nice notes for my wife and I telling us how the walk went and how Jackson was that day. I can tell he is super comfortable and happy walking with Abby, thanks! We used Green-Dog for 18 months with our vizsla puppy. At the time we thought Green Dog was a pretty good fit. But after switching to Pupstars for daycare/boarding, we realized Green Dog's product just isn't very good. Their hours aren't great, and most importantly the dogs are in crates too often throughout the day. Our dog would come home without being worn out. I recommend looking at Pupstars if you're considering Green Dog--it's only two blocks away, AND they pickup/dropoff for FREE if you buy the daycare package. read more

I've taken my Yorkie here a few times and I am definitely an overprotective dog mom so I am very picky on where I take my pup for boarding. I want to ensure my pup is happy, safe, and well taken care of so I can go out of town without extra anxiety of making sure she's okay. Green Dog Inc. definitely met all of my requirements. My dog is a rescue and has anxiety issues when outside which I made sure to quiz them our that their facility had no escape routes. The gave me the confidence that every nook and cranny was sealed in their beautiful outdoor play area. Before I could board my dog, I had to come so they could give me a tour and do a temperament check on my dog. While it was annoying at the time to have to do an extra visit, I appreciate this step since they are ensuring the safety of the dogs and want to give you the confidence in their facility. I like the fact they have an outdoor area since I think it helps my dog adjust to the city noises. When I pick her up she is always a bundle of energy because she is having so much fun. At first I was a bit jealous because I thought she might like Green Dog Inc. better than home but then I got over it. She is also EXHAUSTED when I bring her home which I love since a tired pup is a good pup and also reflective of how much playtime they get. My dog also gets a daily pill which Green Dog Inc.. has no problem administering. Several boarding facilities won't take your dog if they require anything extra. They also have an inventory of everything you drop off to ensure things don't get lost. You also get an adorable report card about their stay and can email anytime if you have separation anxiety from your pup. There are some drawbacks to Green Dog Inc. They have very strict drop off/pick up hours which can be very inconvenient which requires you to sometimes pay for an additional half day or overnight if you miss the windows. However, I don't mind this since I think all of these policies are actually put in place to ensure the well being of the dogs to minimize distraction of the people who are caring for the dogs. They also require the dog flu vaccine which was a bit frustrating when I didn't realize Piper needed that before I dropped her off which was a scramble, but when I thought about it these are all things put in place for the dog's well being so I don't mind the rules. They also recognize it's inconvenient some of their policies, so they always work with you and are as flexible as they can be while still following their policies. There are also other services Green Dog offers but I have only used their overnight boarding which I would highly recommend! read more

the girl behind the counter appeared to be afraid of Pitt bulls. not a big deal just make it policy not to take them don't make me leave work one hour after i dropped her off to come get her because you have a fear of bully dogs. GO to Tucker's pups they have a bigger staff that are all dog people we left our dog there for 6 days and got daily pictures of our dog playing and having fun. I can't believe that I've taken so long to write this review. Honestly, this is the best daycare/boarding place in the city and it's eco-friendly. Brenda, the owner, truly loves dogs (longtime volunteer and on the board of Animal Care and Control), My girl is a tad anxious when there are too many hyper dogs around but Brenda and her staff really monitor their interactions closely and, because the number of dogs is limited, it's not too overwhelming. Dogs are essentially interviewed beforehand for sociability. I've used many of the different boarding facilities in Chicago but I really feel the most comfortable leaving my pooch here. It's also a new and very clean facility. They are pretty fastidious about shots too so if you don't keep your dog up-to-date, you may want to go elsewhere but a big relief for the rest of us. We have been taking our two Shih Tzu here since last fall, and I can honestly say this is the best daycare in Chicago! They always come back tired after daycare, and I know Brenda and everyone at Green Dog truly care for them. The facilities are so clean and our two always come home smelling great, even after a long day of play! The dogs are always looked after and they include nap times throughout the day. I cannot say enough great things about Green Dog. We have used them for boarding and dog walking. We were sad to leave the neighborhood for the sole reason we had to find a new dog walker. They train their dog walkers well, and really care for the dogs. Brenda (the owner) is a delight to talk with on the phone and in person. For boarding they do a great job making sure the dogs are in a group comfortable to them and take turns letting them out to play and giving them some quiet time. They have calming scents indoors for the dogs and it is just a great spot for them to spend time in. My dogs have been going here for daycare and boarding for a loooong time. This is hands down the best daycare/boarding facility in Chicago. I spent forever researching/visiting/inspecting every place in Chicago when I took a job with lots of travel. Green Dog is like home, has great prices, does not charge you for "extras" aka medicine, food, cuddles, daycare playtime with boarding, etc. Brenda obviously loves dogs and her staff is incredible - along with an eco-friendly facility. We take our dog here twice a week because our bully suffers from a little separation anxiety and we are planning on going on vacation in August so we thought it best to get her prepped. The staff is warm and friendly. The space is clean and smells of lavendar. They cater to our dog's special needs and provide optimum customer service. They also work her out. By the time she gets home, she crashes on the couch and snores like no other! Tonight she didn't want to get out of her kennel when I came to pick her up! Brenda and her entire staff have been terrific to my boxer over the last 1 1/2 years. She loves going to play for day camp as well as overnight stays and as soon as we ask our dog if she wants to go to camp you can't stop her excitement. I feel that they have a great handle on all the dogs that come in daily. From the individual attention they put into each dog that comes thru they're door you should feel 100% confident in them.
