The vet staff is great, and I trust them with my fur babies. The front desk staff is horrible and rude. Not professional at all. On 2 occasions, they did not acknowledge me when I came through the door and they were not on the phone and there were no other customers in the lobby (at 8:15AM). On several other occasions they have been rude for no reason at all. If you can get past them then your experience will be ok but these 2 ladies should not be dealing with the public. read more

The vet here saved our rescue from parvo as a puppy. (Don't judge-the shelter told us he was up on all his shots when he was not. He almost died a month later.) West Tyler Vet Clinic did a great job saving his life, keeping us informed, & the rate was high but their normal rates are not. The male vet is blunt & he does care deeply for animals. Both are necessary when you are dealing with illness. That being said, we have been using them for our dog for 3 years & are happy about it. Just be aware that the cost of an appt may be low but the medicines are often expensive. Get quotes. The vets occasionally try to pressure you. (In our experience it has only been with the female vet.) Stick to your guns, you can always call an order in & pick it up after your research. read more

I was recommended by a family member to this clinic but overall the staff is extremely rude, Older lady in the front was constantly making comments on my pet during visit. Called back and asked for help on a different day, on faxing over vaccinations shots to Tyler animal shelter and ended receiving a comment on how they did their job and I should be able to handle that myself. Hanged up on me. Called back and the next receptionist said it's none of my business who the last person was after asking for a name and hanged up on me. South Tyler animal clinic will gladly take care of your needs with no issue unlike this business. read more

I came to this vet for laser therapy for my dog and fortunately that was the only thing I needed to go there for. I encountered many different staff members over the course of several weeks and all but 2 were extremely unfriendly. I bought a package of laser treatments. I was told I had one more laser treatment scheduled and made the appointment. Upon arrival for my last appointment I was told I would need to purchase another package or buy a single treatment. I explained what I was told and the lady who told me that was standing there. She did agree that she told me that and the other lady told me that was wrong and I had already used to my package. They both just looked at me offering no remedy to her wrongdoing. There are better options of vet clinics in Tyler that are friendlier, more helpful, and more caring. read more

Let me start by saying this was first time taking my dog to the vet and it was the WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER! I honestly don't even know where to begin but the whole 2 day experience was a total disaster! Office staff was VERY RUDE. Very poor communication skill. They never called me to give me any info on my dog and when I called everyone I talked to acted like they were clueless. I would not recommend this place to anyone!! My coworker suggested I'd go here to get my canine updated on her shots so I decided to give it a shot, it was very hard for me to go anywhere else because I would hear bad things about other places but the fact that I heard it one on one by my coworker I went here. My dog Cali was very well taken care of and the staff made her feel comfortable by giving her snacks! It was a fast process to get her shots and the place was clean as well, I suggest going here, the prices are very reasonable. I might even consider boarding her here, it's only $16 per night unlike other places its $25! read more

I believe he and/or his staff caused the death of my dog. Filed complaint with the state and the vet was required to present himself to a review board in Austin last week. Do not take your animal here! Our dog was prescribed the wrong medication for over 2 1/2 years, which included yearly check ups. We ordered our meds on a website through this hospital and, our dog was supposed to get a heartworm and flea/tick meds but instead, it was two heartworm, NO flea/tick. Then they lied and said, "it's ok, we give him a dose every time we see him". NOPE. I asked for someone to call me and fix this problem but haven't heard anything yet, It's been 3 months......If this had been my Wife's meds from a Dr. I'm sure it would have been handled differently. read more

The service is awful. One employee in particular Janie. She insulted me when we were there to the point that I was ready to grab my baby and walk out! Against my better judgment, I stuck it out. Afterwards I noticed that I was charged more than I was told ahead of time. When talking about surgery it adds up! I called to question it and had to speak with Janie (again), she told me that if I was that concerned over $25 that I needed to find another vet.  Then she proceeds to tell me that I would not be able to bring any animals to them in the future until I signed a breakdown of costs prior to the visit. She followed that by saying "Infact, if you need $24.50 that badly, I'll pay you out of my own pocket". Seriously?! I was simply calling to ask about the extra charge. Again surgery costs add up fast. I have never been so humiliated and insulted at a veterinarian clinic. I will never go back or refer to this establishment because of the careless way they treat their clients. So I took Janie's advice, canceled surgery and will never go back! read more

Kind, compassionate Staff and Doctors. Have had 3 animals pass away peacefully here over the past ten years. Anytime I need to get in the Clinic I usually can get in the same day. Also, highly recommend them to spay or neuter. Dr. Borah uses great monitoring devises while they are under anesthesia. read more

As a life-long animal lover and canine, feline and equine owner, I was a 100% disappointed in this vet. At a time when I relied on him to euthanize my beloved dog, in my opinion, he was rude, abrupt and lacking compassion. When I contacted the office manager to voice my concerns, she defended him by saying "It doesn't sound like him." Of course, the vet never called to set the record straight much less apologize. read more

I brought my cats into West Tyler Veterinary Clinic to have them spayed. Everything went well and the employees were pleasant. But, that was until one of my cats came home with RINGWORM and gave it to her sister. It's a terribly aggressive strain. I called the vet and told her this. I explained how the ONLY time my cat had EVER been outside my home was when she went to this vet. The ringworm showed up just a few days after she had spent time at this vet. (Ringworm will show up 4-10 days after exposure.) The employee's response was, what I expected. She said, "No, she didn't contract it here. We don't have ringworm here." Really? Has she swabbed every inch of every surface and every (bare) hand that touched my cat? She flat out denied any possibility of my cat contracting it there. I said, "I had a feeling you would react this way. I'm never bringing my cats back there." So, make you're own decision, of course. But, I wouldn't take any chances. If my cat can catch it, anyone can and that's including people. They, obviously, aren't very thorough at disinfecting all surfaces. Even if this were a one time fluke kind of human error, they flat out denied any possibility, instead of accepting the fact that my cat truly could have caught it there. That, to me, shows a complete lack of ethics and professionalism. Like I said, you make your own decision. But, I wanted you to be aware of this fact. I will never take my cat back there. And, you know what? If they had accepted the likelihood that she got it there and accepted responsibility, then they would still be my animals' vet. read more

My family and I were VERY disappointed in this vet. They told us one of our two dogs had Parvo and the eight day treatment would be $887.50. They assured us that his brother would get it as well, since Parvo is extremely contagious and he would most likely show symptoms within 24 hours. We took the dog in on a Thursday and at 8 a.m. Saturday they said we could pick him up that he was fine. We were of course so relieved that he was fine, that we didn't ask if there would be an adjustment to the per diem rate on the bill until Monday morning. We were told that there was no per diem, that it was just a flat rate to treat the dog. I don't think my dog actually had Parvo...His brother was never symptomatic and we were told by 3 other vet clinics that the practice on not charging per diem isn't practiced by any clinic they know of, and that it would be highly unlikely that our dog had Parvo with the speed of his recovery and lack of symptoms in his brother...We are convinced that we were cheated and will NEVER use this vet again! read more

If you have a gravely ill pet and know in your heart that it's time to be put down, this clinic is not for you. Instead, you will be talked into extending treatment days to within 15 minutes of the pet dying. When we came to pick up our deceased pet, I began telling the Veterinarian how disappointed I was, and couldn't imagine the suffering my pet went through up until her death. The Veterinarian commenced telling us how verbal she was before dying, i.e., she was suffering, until my wife told him to stop. In my opinion, a Veterinarian has a responsibility, as a good steward of your pet(s), knowing when it is time to stop their suffering. this clinic was not a good steward of my pet. read more

If there were an opportunity to give a negative star review I would. 1 star is even too good. We have used this veterinary clinic with several of our pets. I had a questionable experience with one of our dogs previously, but this experience tops them all. We took our 9+ year old Akita mix in with a unknown but obvious severe illness. Due to her condition our first thought is that we would not be coming home with her and we could make peace with that. However the vet convinced us that he thought he could save her so blood work was pulled and she was sent home with a shot and antibiotics. She did not have a good night and by early morning begin having seizures. We took her back early and felt certain that euthanizing her would be the right choice; however this vet states again that he "has saved" dogs in worse condition and asks us to let him keep her. She is put on IV meds to stop the seizures along with the antibiotics. He calls that evening to say no real change, but you have to give the meds an opportunity to work. He stated that he took her outside and that she was wagging her tail. He called the following morning to say again, no real change. We asked again about whether we should euthanize her, he again stated not yet. This very evening he called again at 4;30 to give an update...thinks she may be going backwards. My husband suggests that we consider euthanizing her now and the vet asks to let him keep her overnight and will get with us first thing tomorrow morning. Within 15 minutes he called to say she had passed. WE DON"T LET OUR PETS DIE ALONE we choose to be with them to comfort them- they are our family.. She was the best dog of almost 10 years. This breaks my heart. I see a similar post on 2/8/2016. I asked the vet if like physicians were they required to take an ethics training or even something relating to palliative care...he said no. That sometimes he just makes the wrong decision and he was sorry. I get no peace from his apology. A stellar veterinarian knows that the oath "cause no harm" means that sometimes you look your client in the face and be honest and say I think it is time to let go". IF YOU CAN'T DO THIS you need to reconsider your occupation. "My sweet "Kita" suffered, and did not have her family by her side to cross the rainbow bridge. I do not know how long it will be before I find peace with this. PLEASE, do not let this clinic convince you to change your mind when you are dealing with life and death decisions. Keep to your heart and make the right decision for your pet. read more
