Yes, probably. I do NOT have a problem with any of the staff at this location. We were pleased with our child's teachers. The Director and Assistant Director always seemed nice and friendly, but I had overheard them on a few occasions talking about other parents, staff, etc. when they thought no one was listening... I can get past that for good daycare, but it is unprofessional. My issues lie with company policies. Sunrise/Tots Unlimited seems to be very much about their bottom line. You will find this with a lot of these daycare centers, unfortunately. The idea is to spend as little as possible and reap maximum profit. That's just how capitalism works, unfortunately. However, it is ultimately why we switched to another child care... My child's room when she was enrolled had a few children with special needs-- I liked this because I want my child to be in a diverse group and know how to treat other children. However, in a room with 18 children and two adults, which is within the legal ratio for the age group, having three children with special needs seemed to stretch the teachers very thin. I was pleased with my child's teachers, but you could tell that they just did not have the support needed. There need to be additional staff for children who require a higher level of care; or ratios need to be lowered. I did also have concerns about sanitation. Pink eye did run rampant here when my child was enrolled. My child contracted it twice. I understand that it is common in daycares, and knowing how little support staff had, I am sure that ensuring all children properly washed hands with soap was not possible. I did also notice the room over legal ratio on a few occasions. I get that this happens, but once again, they need a couple extra staff members who can float from room to room to keep within ratios AND support children who have higher needs.

While our early experience was positive, everything changed once he entered the toddler room. My son came home more than once with unexplained injuries. I picked him up once and discovered his mouth was bloody. I asked what happened, his teacher said, "I have no idea what happened." That answer was not only dismissive--it was alarming. He also had two separate incident reports for falling off classroom furniture--once from a table and another time from a chair. My question is this: if a teacher is truly supervising toddlers, how on earth is a child able to climb onto a table, stand long enough to fall, and get hurt--all without anyone noticing or stopping it? Toddlers are quick, yes, but that's exactly why supervision matters. Not long after, I personally witnessed a toddler teacher at Estrella KinderCare physically pushed a child down, causing him to fall and cry. The moment I saw that, I could not help but wonder if this was how my own son's injuries had occurred. It's one thing to get an "accident report." It's another to see with your own eyes how a teacher treats the children in their care. I immediately reported the incident to the director, Josie. She seemed concerned and assured me the teacher had been placed on leave pending an investigation. I wanted to believe her. But the very next day, when I arrived to pick up my son, that same teacher was in the toddler classroom--chatting and laughing with other staff. When I asked why she was there, I was told she was just picking up her own child. But here's the issue: if a teacher is supposedly on leave for pushing a toddler, why is she being allowed back into the classroom, interacting with the same kids? To me, that looked less like accountability and more like damage control. I have walked into the toddler room and seen teachers with their backs turned to the children while using their cell phones/the classroom iPads. As an educator myself, I cannot overstate how unacceptable that is. I am responsible for a classroom of children every day. I know what proper supervision looks like, and I know what negligence looks like. What I saw at KinderCare was negligence. At that point, my trust is gone. I unenrolled my son immediately. If you have a child in the toddler room at Estrella KinderCare, please be mindful of what's happening. Aggressive behavior toward children should never be tolerated, and yet here, it was brushed aside. What's worse is that the staff culture seems more interested in protecting each other than protecting the children. After pulling my son out, I decided to dig deeper. I looked up reports from the Arizona Department of Health Services regarding Estrella KinderCare. What I found shocked me--but it also, sadly, didn't surprise me. This center had already been cited for poor supervision of children by teachers and for excessive incident reports. These are the exact issues my son continued to experience almost a full year after those citations were issued. In other words, nothing had changed. The problems were documented, known, and ongoing. I'll be attaching screenshots of these reports in my review so other parents can see them as well. I gave Estrella KinderCare the benefit of the doubt too many times, and my son paid the price. Please, if you are considering sending your child here: don't. It's not worth the risk. There are caring teachers in this world, but the culture of this particular center feels broken and unsafe. From the very beginning, the staff has been incredibly supportive, welcoming, and loving. My daughter absolutely loves her teachers, and as a parent, there is nothing better than knowing your child is somewhere she feels safe, cared for, and excited to learn. The school itself is always clean and feels safe, and there is such a wonderful sense of community. One of the things I especially appreciate is the consistency and experience of the teachers. Many of them have been here for years, which says a lot to me about the environment and the dedication of the staff. I also really value the curriculum and the structure they provide. They aren't simply watching children throughout the day they are helping prepare them academically and socially and giving them a strong foundation before they even enter elementary school. I truly believe children benefit from having that structure, routine, and encouragement from a young age. Most importantly, you can tell the teachers genuinely care about these kids. Not only is this a bad school academically but their teachers and office staff, including the principle are completely ass backwards. We called the principle to complain about the number of little girls we were seeing walking around that school in daisy dukes with their ass hanging out of the bottoms also see through shirts and midriff shirts showing their stomachs and sometimes even more. The principle said that they can wear short shorts as long as it covers all their butt (clearly they don't) and they are not allowed to wear midriff shirts or see through shirts at all (clearly they do). I asked why let them wear short shorts in the first place, she said that it is hard to find regular finger tip length shorts now days and these are the ones all the kids wear now, I was dumbfounded! Since when do we let the kids decide the dress code? I also told her, if I couldn't find shorts that covered my daughters butt I wouldn't concede and let her dress like a slut, she would be wearing pants to school. There is no reasoning with these idiots, and I am getting my kids out of this school as soon as humanly possible. If you are thinking of enrolling your kids in this school, please don't, and if you are already here do everything in your power to get them out. Finally if you decide to just stay and conform to this circus side show... Well I guess we do still need janitors and fast food workers in this world, good luck with that.
