This shop took good care of me. I went in earlier to pick up some batteries for a new truck. Turns out that I received the wrong batteries and they were 10 minutes from closing. They stayed open a little after hours and made sure there was enough time to help me get them swapped out. Can't thank them enough. read more

It's been at least a year since I've been in, thanks to a little something I can only refer to diplomatically as gouging. I'm not going to get into it much further and did not complain or anything like that, but also feel I should not need to do that. There are many sources for this type of product and I don't mind paying more to support local businesses, especially if I ask them to order something, but within reason. I shall leave it at that. This does have a very solid selection of models (or did last I was there), along with paints. Accessories can be a bit wanting, particularly in the brush department, but they are heavy into the RC side, so that's to be expected. While I personally will probably never return, this is worth a look if you are not able to find a given item at one of the other outlets and staff is generally pretty friendly. read more

Wow! What a great place!!!!! I am really into model kits. They have a ton of planes, tanks, cars and bikes. West also has trains and RC stuff. Finally found a place with a large variety of Gundam model kits, knowledgeable and friendly staff (at least the guy I talked to was very knowledgeable on the kits,) and good pricing on the kits as well. Hours are a bit weird but not annoying, and they have multiple of each grade unlike Barnes and Nobles single kits per store at double the price. I've been here several times over the past month, and the staff have been really helpful as I've been getting started with RC cars. They've been able to help me pick upgrades, find replacement parts, and even help me reprogram my ESC. Mike's knowledge of RC cars is great, and he takes the time to explain why certain parts will perform better or worse. He even organizes monthly scale rock crawling events for the community. Prices actually seem comparable to what is available online, perhaps a hair more expensive on certain items, but that is to be expected. I certainly haven't seen any price gouging. I like to get expertise and support local businesses so it is a no brainer for me to shop here. read more

Had a great experience with the lady at the front counter. She helped find a part for my old vintage rc car, and I was also able to find discounted rims for the same truck. I read the negative reviews for this place, but that was not my experience. My boyfriend said he used to go there for years for plane parts but hadn't been in there in over 4 years and they still look the same, but have modernized their computer systems. read more

There were three guys hanging out right next to the door smoking e-pipes or whatever when I pulled up. Scruffy, beards, long sagging shorts, beanie, long hair, maybe dreads. They looked a little out place but to each thier own. Live and let live. I wouldn't have thought anything of it except two of them were givin' me some serious "hairy eyeball" the entire time I pulled up, parked, shut my truck off, cranked my windows up, got my stuff together, and got out. What, do I have a horn growing out oh my head? No smile, no nod of acknowledgement, not a word as I passed by. Just stares until I pointedly made eye contact. I was going to ask someone behind the counter about them when I got inside, but oops, turns out they were the guys behind the counter. My mistake. Maybe it's just Utah, and they were judging me on my beat up POS '80s nissan like a large portion of the population here seems inclined to do. ("Get a REAL truck!" Yeah? My fake truck has 360k miles, gets decent fuel mileage, cost me $500 and I do all my own repair work, little that there is. How about your 7500lbs fuel guzzler?) Whatever the issue was, it didn't make a good impression. The "eyeball" guys disapeared somewhere. Third guy was polite and helpful enough. Got me what I needed if they had it in stock. Answered some questions for me. I know RC equipment reasonably well, but it's nice to get opinions on the newest stuff. I drop in to buy parts once in a while, since it's near my house, but more often then not I go to Vortex Hobbies. Better staff, better atmosphere. read more

It would be nice to be able to go on a quick trip to the local hobby store to pick up a few fun things every now and then, but I'd rather pretend like this place doesn't even exist! The last time any member of my household shopped there was about 4 years ago and we're not willing to ever return. My husband was accused of theft there TWICE, only to be proven innocent by their security footage. The employees held themselves up so high that they were never of any help to us peasants. They really have lost out on well over two-thousand dollars of business from my household due that stick up their asses. read more

Large store with descent selection. Pretty flexible hours of operation. The problem is, you really have to beg(ask, ask and ask different ways), just to get a recomendation. If you do not know exactly what you want/need before you get to WV hobby, then you better google it first and or call an expert. Though 2dudes rchobbies has limited hours of operation, they are racers and know their stuff. i recomend calling 2dudes and making sure that they are there first, followed by going to 2dudes and getting solid advice and getting the exact product you need/want, in order to continue with your hobby. read more

This is a good store for picking up unexpected broken parts and fuel for my nitro RC truck. Prices are higher than what you will find on the internet. I don't mind spending more money to get parts locally, but with that, it would be nice to get some advice about these parts and repairs from their employees without feeling like I'm pulling teeth. If I want to buy spare parts without advice, I'll buy them on the internet from now on. The reason for 3 stars is because they do have 2 or 3 good employees who are pretty helpful, but unfortunately don't have the knowledge to help me with my RC truck. I will continue to buy from WV Hobbies, but may start visiting other RC shops in the Valley for a potential better customer experience. read more

What an asshole! I am honestly stunned about how badly I was treated. I went here looking for advice and a little research on an RC car project that is a little out of the ordinary. I anticipate the whole project will cost well over $5,000 and I was anticipating spending the majority of that at a local hobby shop. This guy was such a jerk and completely unwilling to entertain my idea or even let me finish a brief explanation of what I was looking for. When I was young I loved going to the local hobby shop and built a lot of models and RC planes. Yes a couple of the employees can be impatient when they are busy. Their expertise and stock is good with RC cars and "okay" with Ready to Fly and Almost Ready to Fly RC aircraft. I have been doing business with them since 2004 and they have always been helpful. I prefer to do business with a "local" business rather than web-based suppliers when I can get what I need locally. For items that they don't carry or are currently out of stock they have always been accommodating to place a quick order and they will price match any of the items they carry with legitimate web prices. Hobby shops that stock and have on display many items in diverse hobby areas are rare these days. read more
