I tried applying for their Customer Loyalty And Newsletter program, but they denied me for some reason. I know my neighbor was able to get it. Initially I came in to buy some paint for a pilot model for one of my airplanes. I don't think they fully understood that the helmet was conical and would need a lighter shade of grey, almost a pure white color. I think the guy that helped the other two off duty cops knew what color I needed but he withheld which shelf and section I could find that particular item. I probably didn't Cross my T's and dot my I's. At first I didn't get greeted by the person walking up and down the isles and I had to greet the person who seemed to be buddy buddy with everyone. The person in the back didn't give the same level of customer service he did to the irish gentlemen as he did to me. I don't understand it. It was very... rigid. I had to say hello and ask how he was doing. He didn't respond, but honestly I think I understand why. This is a family shop. It seemed everyone there was family. Possibly all related. If I didn't look like their cousin or brother, then I wasn't going to get the same level of service. Anyways, I wasn't able to find the conical head apparel for the pilot on my air plane. Admittedly, I think they only sell conical shaped hats in specialty stores. I would suggest looking at their website before going in as there are two huge sections of their site that contain zero inventory. Overall, I think the customer service and friendliness was there, it just wasn't for me. I hope your experience is different and better.

There is so much stuff here that in places it feels less a retail store and more like someone's stored collection. Hastur suits my gaming needs just fine and with MUCH friendlier people.

I understand that this is a casual store, and have loved the atmosphere in the past, but as a representative of the business, and an employee, foul language is off putting at best. I am far from offended, if I had heard it at the game tables I would not have thought twice about it, but from an employee, on the clock, that is sad and unprofessional. I have spent thousands at this store, and countless trips in, before, when it was High Gear, and now Salt City Games, but I won't be back.

They have an ok selection of rares and a poor following for magic so if you come in at the beginning of a set there is a decent chance of you being able to buy the singles you are looking for. They have a great selection of board games too.

Conveniently, this shpp was a minute away from the Chinese restaurant we just had lunch at. So we made our way in. This toy store was literally a time capsule of our childhood. There were toys from when we were little that we totally forgot about. Rainbow Brite, Teddy Ruxpin, My Little Ponies, Mr. Potatoe Head. It brought back so many fond memories playing with these gems. You can find a little of everything here. It was neat looking at all the different collectables that the store had. My husband of course gravitated to the Transformers since he's an avid collector. There was a Soundwave that caught his attention but they were asking for 350 bucks for it and the box was pretty beat up. Maybe if the box was in better condition, my husband might have considered purchasing it. I overheard the gentleman behind the counter tell someone that they will be closing this summer. Sad hearing that since novelty stores like these are a rare find. It's hard for small businesses to compete against these big stores selling the big shiny new toys. Who needs a shiny new toy when you can get a dope ass old collectable to hang on to! We did leave without the Soundwave. We both felt bad leaving without buying anything but nothing really caught our eye. I hope that this store stays open a little longer than just summer. Small businesses are the back bone of our community and we need to support them. We will be back in SLC in October and fingers crossed that this joint will be open when we come back.

Fortuitously, I actually needed some sleeves, so I went in to check it out. It's definetly a small store, thus their selection is quite small, but there did have a little bit of everything. And interestingly enough, they have a bunch of hot wheels and die cast cars. Which is unusual for a game store like this, but pretty cool! I had my two toddlers with me, so it was fun to let them pick a .75 hot wheel to buy. They also have a handful of tables to play on and at the time I was there, they were all full. The guy that rang me up was friendly and said that they have been here for two years now and wishes they did more marketing as he said many people say the same thing as me, which is "I had no idea there was a game store here". Capital City Antique Mall came up in my search (well there was another but they are closed on Tuesdays), and I was very pleased to find that they were in a large warehouse with plenty of vendors. That just means tons of cool stuff to scour through! And indeed there was plenty of artifacts and fun finds to take my time perusing! There were a few items that I wanted but couldn't purchase for the sake of space or other reasons, but they were absolutely beautiful. The photos I've shared below are only scratching the surface of the gamut of items that you can find at the antique mall. I ended up purchasing some small items to add to my shelf of collectibles at home, including my very first glass insulator. The staff are nice and everything is quite reasonably priced compared to CA antique stores. We will definitely be revisiting Capital City Antique Mall the next time we are in SLC!

It would've been great if I would've found an old Utah shirt, but I wasn't able to find one. I did get this super cute vest for $5! Critical- Again, most of the clothes looked like they were just bought from a thrift store to be resold. Many prices weren't marked on racks. And cash only entrance, so I had to pull money out of the ATM, which costed me more than the $3 admission fee.

LIke everything else here, this area is changing, and the flea moved about two years ago. When I visited the location at the Gateway, it didn't even seem like the same market. First, they charge an admission fee. Everything is also very spread out among the gateway buildings and outside areas. Many more booths with clothing that was more flea and less vintagey. Hardly any really unique booths. A few of the older vendors you might recognize, but the vibe is just very different.

Oasis Games has a wide variety of games, but we specifically love to go and purchase Magic The Gathering cards. They seem to always have a consistently rotating amount of stock with cards ranging from the first series ever, all the way to the most recent release! They also offer a website for traded-in cards inventory that can be accessed from home, and you can pick up in person, or even access it with one of their available computers in the store! Most of their prices are reasonably close to MSRP, but where they really excel is in their sale value! They provide a fantastic store value percentage that is greater than every other game store I have ever been to. They also offer fun game nights and pre-release events (check their website for dates). Highly recommend Oasis Games for your next gaming purchase!
