I absolutely love the architecture of this library. It's super unique in the LAPL system. It's this slightly futuristic, slightly industrial building surrounded by large trees that gives this wonderful man meets nature feel to it that I absolutely loved. It's a narrow building but long. It kinda felt like it was a bunker. But a wonderful bunker full of books. Staff was very friendly and helpful. When I mentioned I was coming to collect location stamps, they were really interested in hearing how my quest was going along with where I had been and what my favorite library to visit had been up to this point. I'm glad that this is a location not too far from where I live. I absolutely will be back. read more

I really enjoyed my visit to the West Valley Regional Branch Library today. This library is pretty big with a fairly large selection for childrens books which is why I came here. There are rows and rows of picture books with a built in children's book reading nook and story time corner. Then it expands to chapter books with the difficulty increasing as you walk away from the picture book section. With your regular libary card you can borrow a book for 3 weeks. If the books you borrowed aren't being requested by someone else it will auto renew on its own up to 3 times. If it is being requested you get notified via your email that is linked to the account. Libraries are the best, especially this one with plenty of parking in the back. read more

am extremely disappointed with how this library treated my daughter, who is deaf. Because of her hearing disability, she cannot always tell how loud her own voice is. We understand that a library should be quiet, so we purposely sit very far away from other people to make sure her occasional talking does not disturb anyone. Despite this, we were told that our behavior was "not appropriate for the library." What made this even more upsetting was that teachers and other adults working with children nearby were speaking much louder than my daughter, yet somehow my deaf child was the problem. A public library should be a welcoming and accessible place for ALL children, including children with disabilities. Instead of making a family feel unwelcome, staff should understand that a deaf child may not be able to regulate the volume of her voice in the same way as a hearing child. We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for understanding, reasonable accommodation, and the same respect given to other families. I sincerely hope management provides better disability-awareness training to staff. No child should be made to feel that they do not belong in a public library because of their disability. read more

The two round white male librarians are rude. This is a library where the homeless sleep, rules are violated with phones being used, people with strange ticks talking to themselves. I see that it is also used to warehouse a group of what look like individuals with special needs. There are more tables for youth and few tables for adults and people take up all four seats - like some of the people you see when you go to other public places or transportation that take up more than one seat. As there were no tables for me to use, I was told that I would be escorted out if I sat at the table behind the adult section during a school day and the white male librarian with facial hair followed me so closely it was uncomfortable and I almost fell over with my cane. It is interesting that I am probably the only Asian to use this library and I can see that it is not a safe place for handicapped senior Asians. Finally there was space at a table and like the other patrons I decided to spread my things all over the table to use like other patrons and I was reprimanded. Discriminatory behavior. Thee two male white librarians have been there forever and on the terrace area they allow people to sleep as well as in the alcoves around the library. They claim it is the responsibility of security to handle and apparently it isn't handled. There have been times I could not use the walkways around the library to enter and exit. Finally, they cut the over ground plants that also blocked the sidewalks. read more

I did have a great experience at the library. I guess because of the homeless population increasing, this library now has security at the entrance. This surprised me because growing up, I had never seen security at a library before until now. The older lady at the front desk was friendly and helpful. "Librarian" Darrel is a little king. Unprofessional. Darrel makes his own rules. To get a guest pass, Darrel asks irrelevant questions, instead of to handle a QR code receipt. Moreover, it is discriminatory. Do not go to this branch. Other branches have decent librarians. read more

The staff here picks on the special needs adults that come here regularly. They tell them to be quiet but say nothing when toddlers are screaming in the children's section. There was a gentleman with autism that had his head on the desk with his eyes closed. They came and told him that there is no sleeping aloud. He wasn't asleep. He was taking a break. They have zero compassion and don't deserve to work in a library where diversity is expected to be embraced. Shame on you!!! read more

The building has a cool modern design with a sloping roof. I stopped by on a Sunday and it was not empty. What a perfect place to relax and read a book while the rat race is rushing around outside. I feel more libraries should be open on the weekends. I'm sure they could find plenty of senior citizen volunteers who could fill hours that are required to keep the library open. read more

Moderate in size, but a clean, well-organized and modern library. Parking is a little confusing. Entrance to the lot is behind the building and through an alley. But plenty of spaces. There is no back entrance and the main entrance is on the west side of the building. The cookbook collection was not huge, but fairly modern and interesting. I spent 2 hours that went by in a blink. Many tables and chairs for patrons to sit at. And there is a bookstore - with used books! Really great prices. Restrooms are clean. Desk service for check-out was on the SLOW side. And reference librarian chatted the entire time I was sitting which was distracting. But overall, a good experience. Must say upon reading other reviews, that the posts regarding PORN being viewed on library computers is very disturbing. Hard to believe that there is nothing that can be done. There are CHILDREN in the library, folks. CHILDREN! read more

I decided to check out this library a little further from my house as they offer storytelling and story play for the little one. It looks very outdated inside and outside around back. The front window is large and modern but it houses the friends of the library store. All the stacks are located in one large room. Parking was plentiful as it is not to a government building also. What I did not like were the "friends and neighbors" hanging out with their belongings outside. No thanks! read more

I like this library a lot. It's my next fav after the mid-valley location. This one is open on Sunday's. They have a used bookstore inside as well as lots of movies to check out. Their cd collection is nice too. Their are Lots of computers for people to use and their air conditioning works great for those HOT days. Parking lot is in the back. I was in the neighborhood last week on june 6, 2013 and I wanted to kill some time and go read a magazine or book of some sort. I found this library close by to where I was and decided to drop by. It was really hot that day to so that was another reason for me to find a nice cool place to relax in while I wait for my friend. Anyways I walked in and went straight to the magazine section. Grabbed a few magazines off the self to read and get a glimpse of. Once the weather outside got cooler I decided to leave since my friend didn't show up. This library has friendly staff, but for some strange reason neither some of the staff nor most of the people who come to this library have any idea about how silent a library should be. This is one of the noisiest libraries I have ever seen. People do all sorts of things here, and loudly too. The cute exterior belies the fact that the employees are very lazy. It's also worth pointing out there's also something wrong with the on-line library catalog. Two days ago on Saturday I went on the LAPL website to search for a book. Results showed many branches having a copy, including this one, so I put a hold on it and went by to pick it up today (Monday). The dude behind the front desk said he didn't have it and was going to leave it at that but I insisted he do his job and provide, um, some information. He said it was coming from the North Hollywood branch and that it would take a few days. I said, "Well your system shows that it's already here so I put a hold on it to pick it up." He said, "It's not here. I can't help you." OK. So I went to the librarian who was a little bit more mature. At least she knew she had a job to do so she looked it up and said it was returned today and that if it's not on the shelf, it would be on a sorting shelf. Again I told her "According to your website, it was here on Saturday and it supposedly still here when I checked before coming in just now." She didn't seem to know about that and never mentioned it was coming from North Hollywood. But she got up and showed me where the sorting tables were. There at the tables was another employee who said "No, it's not here." So like, in today's age where everything is digitally tracked, can't somebody find out where it is and what's this story about coming from North Hollywood? Nobody cared to answer or provide information, which like I said is ironic since this is a library. Oh, and there was a dude near the kids section looking at porn. When I mentioned it to the librarian on the way out, she said there was nothing they could do about it unless he was looking at illicit kiddie porn or bestiality. OK, fine. I guess this is freedom of speech in action, but really, they need to get this creep away from the kids section. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen because I just read another Yelp review about this branch that complained about the same thing: some dude looking at porn near the children's books. So, yeah, they know about it and yet they do nothing. One kid gets assaulted -- or worst -- abducted and it's over for that branch. Just saying. I would not leave my kids unattended to study at this branch with that dude looking at porn there in the corner. My two cents. read more

I've been coming to this library since the 4th grade. I've been blessed to have a safe clean environment in my neighborhood.

Such a great place to dive into your studies or work or novel. Librarians are friendly and helpful, Vivian is a sweety, knows me by name. Free wifi and power strips under the tables. With the online books and access to books via kindle, I will rarely purchase a book ever again. You can place holds online and pickup at any branch of your choice, no more trekking across town for that book you need. Deep audio library of cd's, just put them in your laptop and save them to your music device, phone, ipad, google drive. The library is stepping into the 21st century and is a place to go. This is the LAPL branch I went to as a child with my mother, and it holds a special place in my heart. Not because it's that great or anything, but because I'm prone to sentiment. It could be any other library but for the fact that I went to I as a kid and thus am inclined to remember it fondly just a Elizabeth C. mentioned. Remember coming here as a child and this being the first library I came to. Glad to see so many people using the resources of our community and the library evolving with the times. read more

This was such a cute little library! A respite from the hustle and bustle of the Valley. I loved that it was fairly busy when I visited. There was a good mix of patrons, some old, some young, some children. But along with that busy-ness is the noise, I guess. It was a little noisier in there than other libraries I'm used to, but the noise level was not intolerable. I was still able to do some work. There seemed to be a lot of staff readily available to help patrons or direct them to whatever they're looking for. Visiting this library reminded me of when I was younger and how I spent entire afternoons at the library reading YA Fiction and getting acquainted with books and American culture. And for that, I really loved this library. read more

While sitting in the library next to the children's area a man was sitting down at the public computers and watching porn. My child brought this to my attention while he was reading next to me. I went to tell the librarian and she said there is nothing the library can do because the person watching porn was not watching child porn so it was okay! She proceeded to explain that everyone in the library can view what they wish because it was "freedom of speech" I left the library feeling my child and I were violated. I thought the library was a safe environment for children and families. I was wrong. I am giving the library 2 stars verses 1 star because the books were organized well. read more

I enjoy the comfortable environment, however, there are times when people "whisper" conversations but in fact are loud and distracting. It's annoying and I would appreciate if library staff would ask these individuals to go outside. Great place to study because it is very quiet and clean inside. It is kind of dim, and stuffy at times, but if you get used to it, you will get a lot done. Printing is 25 cents and there's free internet. Book selection is kind of small, but still enough to get your weekly reading done. Theres a YMCA right next to it as well, so you can exercise there as well! read more

I really like that this library is new and clean . I also like that I did not have to wait in a long line to use the 15 minute internet computers. However I was having a difficult time printing out my resume printer kept kicking out quarters. Two library staff workers did not assist me but a male librarian came all the way from back of library to help me without me having to ask him. I thought that was very nice of him. The only issue I have is I think copies should cost less than twenty five cents. Otherwise it is a quaint library with some interesting activities for library users. read more

The service was absolutely terrible. I went to print a document that I had previously mobile ordered and the printer wasn't accepting my printing request nor taking the money I put into the slot. As I stand there stumped the guy at the desk is peaking over reading a book making rude comments saying "well you have to put the money in first" by observing he could obviously tell I was putting in the money and simply didn't want to get up and assist me. Usually I am not one to become frustrated but if I'm not receiving any kind of help when I ask that is unacceptable. read more

We love this library and visit several times a week. The staff is friendlier than many other libraries I've been to. They are open on Sundays - which is the best part for us and our busy schedule. The entrance is not directly on the main road, which is great. read more

This library was renovated and ever since they have been able to keep it nice and clean. The outside of the building is very welcoming with green grass all around it and trees providing shade. Once you go inside, the environment is very still and quiet. There are people looking for books, reading or just on the computer doing their business. The help desk is very resourceful when you come asking for questions. They will help you find your book or whatever it is that you need. I personally like coming here to do my homework when my house is just too noisy.
