Same great folks behind Tap & Bottle run this spot, and you can definitely feel the quality. I really like this place--it has a laid-back vibe and a solid selection of drinks. That said, being outside in the summer heat isn't my favorite. Here's hoping it's a short one this year. The MSA Annex is a cool spot with lots of local businesses, and Rollies joining about a year ago has been a great addition to the food options. Service is usually quick and friendly, which keeps me coming back. They've stopped offering on-site bottle shop consumption, but they still carry a great selection of beverages to go. read more

My hot toddy was perfect on a cold Friday night. This is a small outdoor bar in the corner of the container district. They have a really well stocked bottle shop where you can get local and some hard to find liquor's. I have always loved getting a drink here and they have really upped their game with some crafty cocktails. The beer list is also very well curated. read more

I never thought I'd be raving about a place that sells batched cocktails but here we are. The batched cocktails at Westbound are DELIGHTFUL. I long for the cooler weather to hold out as long as possible here in town so I can enjoy the two different hot toddy options. When it's warmer, the Cactus Wren and the Santa Rosa are our two favorite cold cocktails. Sometimes I'll go hangout at Westbound during the day and drink one of their lower abv offerings while working on my computer. The whole annex is a cute place to hang out and I personally feel like Westbound is the flavor anchor that holds it all together. We ordered from the bar and received a cold greeting, started a tab and sat down. The tables were all wobbly, we tried to find a stable one but couldn't and settled for the least wobbly one. The stools are also extremely uncomfortable and, you guessed it, wobbly! We also saw roaches crawling around near the bar during our meal. Gross! The final offense was we were charged for 5 drinks when we only ordered 4. We pointed it out while closing out and were told we are wrong. Great Space in the Annex with a hip, NW Fremont-ish VIBE. We arrived in the afternoon to pick up a half case of our favorite Tombstone varietals. Emily immediately greeted us with a pleasant smile and retrieved our to-go order. The seating options outside were so attractive we decided to stay a while. Once again, the ever-so-helpful Emily offered to re-stow our to-go order back to the refrigerated section of their very cool & well-appointed little bottle shop. This is absolutely the place to be! I wanted to my guy how Tucson came up with the idea of shipping containers and using them as cool establishments. Him coming from the bay area where theres the point of Oakland they dont have anything nice like this. We arrived on a nice hot Sunday afternoon and was greeted by Heather who welcomed us and provided us drink recommendations in which Cactus wren stood out like a busted lip. I can't believe I haven't already reviewed Westbound! I've been here dozens of times over the years. The Annex is a place I regularly go with my fiancé, to meet up with friends, for book club meetings, and to show off to out-of-towners--but Westbound is the main event for me. Their selection of bottled and canned ciders and beers is solid, but the draft cocktails are the star of the show. They do rotate, so a few of my favorites aren't currently on the menu (Caribeño, Sweetwater), but the new Gin Fizz is so refreshing and delicious. There is something for every taste here, not to mention the bottle shop with a solid selection of local picks. The service is usually quick, even when there's a line, and there's plenty of seating around the Annex is the bar area is full. There's so much to love about Westbound! read more

I love that Tap n Bottle now has an affiliate that serves liquor as well! Went to Westbound for some post-shopping drinks in the MSA Annex on a Thursday. At first it was a bit crowded because cyclists were meeting up to get ready for a 6 o'clock ride but once they left, the space started be a bit easier to walk around in. The drink selection was great. I got a the Crooked Tooth Pico Sour and my partner got one of their reposado tequilas, which she really enjoyed. Staff were friendly and quick to serve us at the bar. Before we left, we went into the bottle shop and picked a bottle of tequila we haven't tried yet. While we were looking, one of the staff came and asked us some questions about what we like and made some great recommendations which were helpful. I will definitely be back! The only thing keeping westbound from 5 stars for me is the flies and the lack of outdoor fans. Other than that, great drink menu and very cool atmosphere! read more

It's located in the MSA annex, home to a fabulous beer, wine and spirits shop, a handful of delicious restaurants, sensational coffee house and phenomenal local boutiques. This spot is a must for out of town guests and Tucson regulars alike. My husband hosted visiting guests recently, who grew up here and moved away years ago. This was their first time at the annex and they were stunned! We sat nestled in a corner seat, listening to the desert frogs out on the prowl from the recent rains. The cool breeze was sensational as we all savored our beer and cocktail choices. Mine was the new offering called "Sweetwater" and it was an absolute delicious gin beverage....which was extremely easy to drink. What I will say in conjunction to my positive note, is that bar staff had a not so friendly way of relating to a group of guests who very innocently also thought it was ok to bring their own beverages.. I get that the bar wasn't ok with it, but, I think to a group of out of towner's, a kind approach would have not left a bad impression for their "unfamiliar with protocol" guests who had no Iil intent and were unaware the courtyard as a whole, being part of the bar.. a simple mistake that was immediately handled with better manners that initially met with by staff.. Location is great and centrally located. It's in the MSA Annex. Lots of options for food and this is the place to go for drinks. They have a ton of outside seating area and well behaved pets are welcome. Dream prices are comparable for the area. A lot of craft beers, mixed drinks and wine. Lots of local craft beers available. You are able to order from the restaurants that are around the area and they will bring it to you. I thought that was a definite plus. It was a little hot out but it is Tucson so the cold beer and drinks made it a little bit bearable. I really enjoyed being able to order your drinks and being able to walk around the venue while you window shop and enjoy the area. They do have a tap and bottle shop where you can purchase your beer/wine to go. Prices are lower if you take that option. They sometimes have good specials. This is the bar within MSA Annex and had a lot of beer on tap and specialty cocktails. There wasn't a lot of room around the bar, but we were able to snag a spot at at a nearby table. The coconut drink I had, which I can't remember the name, was made with a lot of flavor. The offered a bamboo straw and I found it hard to drink with as it broke off in a few areas. I've been to the Annex a few times, and finally got to check out Westbound. It's a cool spot to hang out and have a not so typical drink. They have a nice variety of cocktails that all come from a pull. You can also hit up their cooler of take home brews and wine. My only disappointment was the bartender. COVID 19 Update: Westbound is one of my all time favorite Tucson businesses- for the people and the product! :) This review is to offer an update regarding Covid-19 and their current offerings. Since the shutdown went into place, Westbound remained open for takeout/curbside pickup as well as delivery within 7 miles. Now that businesses are starting to re-open, they decided to continue with takeout/delivery only. The bar will remain closed for now. But you can follow their updates on Instagram as well. They are open daily 12-7pm. Delivery available 12-5pm within 7 miles. You can order online, easy peasy! They have been working tirelessly to keep things going. Their cocktails to go have been our favorite! They are packed in mason jars and are enough for abut 2.5 servings. Trust that they have plenty of booze in them too.Support your local bottle shops! The staff here is friendly and the atmosphere is really chill. I really enjoy the decor and all the furniture. The ability to go buy inside the store is great too. Seating is all outdoors with a grouping of tables on either side of the bar. They have a nice selection of draft beers both local and out of town. They have a fair selection of wines and a couple specialty cocktails. I like the atmosphere which is very casual. Melissa behind the bar made me feel welcomed and was patient as I work my way through the beer list. It is also nice you can order a drink and walk through the other complex shops while enjoying your beverage.
