My mother has been living at the facility for a year now, and she loves it. She is in the smallest…read moreapartment available, but it is more than adequate for her. It has a large living room, bedroom with walk-in closet, full kitchen with range/oven, full size fridge, dishwasher and microwave, and a bathroom. There is also a stackable washer/dryer. The staff is very attentive. The nurse noticed that that she was not taking her medications at the right time, and informed me right away. They also alert me when she need additional medication. The staff is very polite and they communicate well. The activities are setup like a cruise ship; there are lots of things to do with others if you like social events, but you can stay in your room if you'd like. In addition to weekly trips to the grocery / drug stores, there are also special events like concerts at North Central College, a movie on site every Sunday in the Great room, and Wii Bowling tournaments. In December, the residents took a bus into downtown Chicago for lunch in the Walnut Room at Macy's and a Christmas concert right after. The food is varied and tastes good. Residents can choose from a Deli/Cafe, Bar/Lounge, or formal sit-down restaurant foe their meal choices, and meals are included in the monthly fee. The campus is great for walking, especially once the weather warms up. There are walking paths with benches, so it's easy to get some exercise or find an isolated spot to read a book. There are gazebos outside the restaurant so dining al fresco is an option. All in all, it's a good fit for mom. She has plenty of opportunities for interaction and she is enjoying her time there.

Today I visited a resident at Brookdale Skilled Nursing facility. The resident was having trouble…read morefor many days trying to get her TV to work properly. We asked for assistance from the aide. Holis, a kind and patient, very bright and resourcefull aide came in and identified the problems. He quickly resolved the issue and then patiently explained to the resident how to operate the TV with multiple remotes and multiple apps until she felt comfortable operating it on her own. That is a great example of staff caring and dedication to enriching and empowering their residents. It was heartwarming to see.

That…read moreunfortunately became a reality in 2023, after I was hit head-on by a wrong-way driver with dementia on I-39. I just wanted to take the time to recognize the staff at Thrive of Lisle, as they took great care of me. Shoutouts to CNA's Alan & Harrison; nurses Shirley, Mark and Gina. They are the best! Kellie from activities, Jerome and Sue are always roving the halls and engaging with residents. The positivity and enthusiasm of the staff is truly contagious, and made this long recovery journey easier for me. Therapists Susan, Ed, Keyenna and Tiffany have been helping me work towards my goal to be able to walk again and use my left arm. I love Thrive of Lisle, and the staff here. 2023 was easily the darkest time of my life. I nearly lost my life, and was not sure if I'd ever walk again, or be able to return to the career that I love. The staff at Thrive treated me like family. I can't tell you how much happiness and hope that CNA Alan, Nurse Shirley & Kellie brought into my life during this time. They are truly special people. I still come back to thrive and visit at least 4 times a year. It's rewarding for me to visit the current patients during activities time, as well as spreading positivity and encouragement. I also love seeing my extended family (the Thrive staff). My advice & words of wisdom for incoming patients and their families: * Advocate for yourself as the patient; if you're a relative; please advocate for your loved one. * Treat the staff with love & respect (I promise it'll come back to you ten-fold, and will be a much better experience for you & the staff this way.) * You might be shy at first, but take full advantage of the activities that Kellie puts together! From craft-making to group games; it's a fun time for everyone! (Even the patient's visitors are encouraged to participate). * It doesn't matter if you're bedridden, the staff will make sure to get you out to socialize, shower, or PT. You just need to communicate your needs to them early enough in the day. * Family: PLEASE don't underestimate the power of your visits. Frequent visits will greatly help your loved one as they strive to recover. I had at least 2 family members taking turns visiting me throughout each day. *Keep in mind, you ARE allowed to sit in on your loved one's physical therapy sessions. - Just ask the therapist as a courtesy* * Stay positive & Keep on thriving! I was sent to Thrive for wound care. So I did not require the assistance some people did. I was…read moreable to walk and dress myself. I did receive physical and occupational therapy. The therapy was to target both upper and lower body and I felt it was a great benefit for me. Therapist took time to answer my questions on how or why the different excersises were a benefit. I had Murium and Traci. Nurses and CNAs were all pleasant. When I was not in my room they would look for me for required medications or lab tests. They also seem to work as a team. No task is beneath anyone. The activities director Kelli has such a nice personality that even someone like me that typically does not join in was participating. Because I did not have anyone visiting me they made a point of making me not feel alone. Many of the staff were good but I had a special thanks to Noah Teddi Alfonso Sue Kelli Drew Odette and my wound care team. I was able to heal nicely by the time I was discharged thanks to their attention and care. Only issue is with the evening shift. I think they forget at times that it is bedtime for us even if it's just a work-shift for them. They would be quite loud and slam doors. Rooms are 2 people so if someone needs to be tended to in middle of the night or is hard of hearing that's a problem too.

The rooms are cheerful and the care top notch. It is the little touches that make this so special. Mom was welcomed from the moment we arrived with a welcome sign and a lovely plant and staff coming by to greet her and introduce her to others. They made her feel special, like they were waiting for her to arrive. My Mom lived at Sunrise the last few months of her life. It was hard to have her move out of our home, but Sunrise couldn't have been more wonderful to her. It offered her a nice social life, my Mom was always the life of the party! She enjoyed her friends and finally engaged in a sport, Balloon Volleyball (I think the first sport activity she ever did as an adult). My Mom loved to eat out in restaurants and the dining room was run like a restaurant with a multitude of items to order. The food is good and they were accommodating with special requests. The staff is amazingly kind and truly seem to care about the residents. Jen and Stephanie are the main administrators and they lead a wonderful staff who took great care of my Mom. I would love to name them all but it is about 80 wonderful people!

The units are home-like, and residents can use the kitchen for baking cookies or whatever strikes their fancy. My father in-law just moved to this facility 2 months ago in the independent living area. The…read morefacility is clean, with nice amenities like a cafe and dining room for those that want to be more social in the building. Initially, dad had a difficult time acclimating to his new surroundings but the staff and management went out of their way to make him feel at home - even gifting him a small TV for his apartment. They offer shuttle service to/from doctor appointments in the area which is very helpful for those who no longer are able to drive. And even in the independent living area, they have a staff person do regular wellness checks daily. The family feels that he's well taken care of and are grateful for the help he receives. My only very small issue is that the large building only has 2 elevators. Given that he lives on the 5th floor, it can sometimes be a 15 min wait to get on the elevator.

When my grandmother was in transition, she displayed the following symptoms which included an inability to eat, inability to move, inability to take medication, inability to speak, and inability to open her eyes. She was on her deathbed which was provided by Hospice. Somebody named Donna stated to me "Your grandmother is not in transition, and therefore you are not allowed to spend the night with your grandmother." At 2:20AM that very night, my grandmother passed away. HarborChase does not adhere to what they communicate to their members. This is a place of dishonesty.

There was difficulty with the contract and the person that hired me, however, upper management became involved and worked to resolve the issue. The staff was professional in resolving a challenging situation, which is much appreciated. The residents and community are inviting and welcoming, the food was fantastic, the space is lovely, and I was grateful to be able to add my music to the event.
