I had a horrific experience with Dr Sherri Peace. She wanted to charge me $500 to remove my son's keloid after giving him treatments that made his skin peel and bleed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I found out my insurance would cover the procedure and she had his appointment cancelled without notice and called me to say how WRONG I WAS for wanting to use my insurance after she told me it would cost me $500.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I told her I'm a single mother and my teenager had suffered enough but she did not care.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked the insurance company for another referral and went to a dermatologist on Nash in El Segundo who not only took my insurance but got the keloid removed with ease and it never came back. Sherri Peace seemed nice at first and I wanted to support her as a Black Doctor but the way she treated my son and I (after wanting to use my insurance) showed that she really is money hungry and doesn't care about the mental or emotional well-being of her patients. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I made an appointment for my daughter to be seen, over a month in advance. We had an authorization from her medical group for the visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was known by the office why I was bringing her in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The nurse comes in and asks why we are there, I explain to her in detail the reason for the visit. The doctor comes in and asks why we are there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My daughter is 6 years old. She does not greet her. I told her the same thing I just told the nurse. The Dr tells me she does not feel comfortable treating my daughter due to her age. This was already upsetting because you knew how old she was and the reason for the visit before we came in. Why even have us come in, if you don't treat this condition in children? The Dr then insinuates this could be something that was sexually transmitted. I'm completely taken aback by her insinuation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She steps next to the door and tries to get out of the room as soon as she can. Not even trying to listen to any other concerns I have about my daughter's skin.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I tell her I can't believe this is where she is going with our visit. The Dr says " I'm not going to report this to any one but I want you know it's what I'm thinking" I was incredibly upset by her comments. The Dr has terrible bedside manner! Upon reading her notes from the visit I was even more upset to read she did a "full skin evaluation" she didn't examen her at all! It also says she counseled me on sun screen use, which she did not. I asked the Dr about moles and she blew me off saying the ones she had "looked fine" when I asked her specifically what should I lookout for in moles. Her note also said I was instructed to call if my daughter had anything change. She told me she would not treat my daughter and that I need to see her pediatrician. The Dr also wrote that my daughter has had these symptoms since 1 year old which is incorrect. I specifically told her when the symptoms started. This was the worst experience. I feel this doctor does not have experience in treating this condition in children. She just didn't want to say that so instead she started saying "she didn't feel comfortable" read more

She had initially told me she could prescribe this but after her attitude came up she threw in a power play by saying that she would refer me out to another dermatologist because "this wasn't going well". I hadn't seen Dr. Peace in two years, and after my recent visit (this past week) I remembered why. Despite booking a month in advance, I waited an hour past my appointment time only to be seen for ten minutes. It was a waste of money and my time. I had a small red spot on my face that I was charged to remove . They recommended a procedure that would remove it . After waiting weeks there were absolutely no improvement I went for a follow up with my concerns and I was told it doesn't always work . My recent trip to Dr. Sherri Peace's dermatology clinic in Southern California was frankly, a bit of a rollercoaster. I appreciated its convenient location in Playa Del Rey, and the positive affirmations posted on the walls around the office were a nice touch. Initially, I visited Dr. Peace to get a second opinion on a minor skin issue that I was already treating with apparent success. She insisted that my current treatment, despite seeming effective, was actually worsening the condition. She made a big deal of pointing out that I was wrong, which I didn't mind at the time because I thought, as a dermatology professional, she would know best. The doctor advised me in no uncertain terms to ditch my current treatment, prescribing two new medications and suggesting a biopsy to be sure. My concerns began the week of the biopsy, when it seemed like she completely misremembered her initial diagnosis, now claiming it was dermatosis papulosa nigra, a very different condition. When I called her out on the conflicting information, she just brushed it off. She also seemed to have forgotten the medications she had prescribed earlier. Her advice when reminded? Toss them in the trash. A few weeks and a biopsy later, it turned out my original treatment was correct all along. In the end, my condition cleared up with the original treatment, leading me to feel that the time spent with Dr. Peace's team was ultimately wasted. It makes me wonder about the level of care for patients with more serious dermatology issues at this clinic. Something else that puzzles me is why the positive reviews of Dr. Peace sound like generic praise, while the negative ones seem more authentic and detailed. It's something that certainly gives me pause. If you're seeking dermatology services in Playa Del Rey or other nearby areas in Los Angeles, you might want to consider options other than Dr. Sherri Peace's clinic. read more

Honestly I love Dr. Peace and have been going to her for years- she has always taken the time with me, even let me go through bringing every product I use on my face and telling me which were good and which were bad. She is kind and has never made me feel rushed- I've also never had to wait any ungodly amount of time in the waiting room- although she does book out about 1-2 months in advance. Getting the front desk to answer voicemails or phone calls can be difficult or easy, depending. Just be persistent as you can- they typically are pretty good about filling prescriptions in a timely manner. The esthetician (I think her name is Jasmine?) is also extremely kind and compassionate. She is so sweet, I was thankful for the recommendation from Dr. Peace, and was satisfied with my pumpkin peel- although it was very short (maybe 10 mins) I saw improvement in my redness afterwards, as Dr. Peace had promised I would. I will continue to support this establishment- I love the convenient parking in the back- the staff is usually always friendly. All around- I have loved my experience at this dermatologist's office. And I love that they offer a medical esthetician for those things a dermatologist cannot do. So cool how they can work together on a face!! Thank you Dr. Peace! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Dr. Sherri Peace not only misdiagnosed me twice, I had to self-diagnose my skin issue. She then told me I could receive a facial for free to treat my scarring, and then charged me $100 for the facial. She is unwilling to waive the charge, her manager has not been helpful. I have been calling her team, the billing team and my insurance for 6 months, without any solutions from her team. As a new patient here I do not recommend this Dermatologist. This has been terribly disappointing for me. I also had 8am appointments every time and every time had to wait until 8:15 for someone to show up to open the door, really unprofessional. read more

When I first started at Sherri peace a couple years ago I was so pleased with her kind demeanor. However, exactly one year ago I was prescribed the antibiotic doxycycline for cystic acne. I immediately broke out in horrible rashes and boils. I went back to her and was told it was a staph infection but Sherri refused to test me for it... She "just knew". The eruptions kept getting worse and worse. I told her I thought I was maybe allergic to this antibiotic, but again she assured me it was staph. Long story short, after two hospital visits and a change of dermatologist (in which I was actually tested for staph), it turns out I did not have staph; I am deathly allergic to doxycycline just as I had originally stated. This kind of negligence should not have happened. Not only could I have died, but I am now left with horrible scars all over my body and have to save for plastic surgery to get rid of them. This doctor chose not to test me for staph which is extremely negligent of her and is costing me not only money, but acting jobs as well as my torso/legs can no longer appear on camera. I don't know what changed in her throughout the years but holy smokes, I wish I had the time and energy to sue the living you-know-what out of her. Sherri peace should have her license revoked. Don't go to her. She doesn't care. I came to her with lesions, that I was pretty sure was psoriasis. I told her nurse that I was looking for solutions that would be compatible with breastfeeding my infant. When Dr. Peace came into the room, she said, from the doorway, that it looked like psoriasis. I asked her if she would look at my scalp, and she scoffed at the suggestion that she should do any sort of examination. As she was leaving the room, she told me that she was prescribing medication. I stopped her and asked if it was safe for breastfeeding. She said that it wasn't, and there was nothing she could do to help me while I'm breastfeeding. That's not true. Ive found options. I lost so much time relying on medical opinion on Dr Peace. Save yourself time and go to someone who cares. read more

I just finished multiple rounds of laser hair removal with Dr. Peace. As someone who has eczema I was very grateful to have a real doctor doing my laser treatment vs. going to a spa/clinic as she was cautious and adjusted the laser settings. Less than zero stars. Awful. I booked an appointment here for two reasons: my son has a noticeable bump on his hand, and I have a spot on my arm that hurts and hadn't healed for months. Scheduled one appointment for both of us in September. Dr. Peace told me my spot had noticeable "characteristics," so I was scheduled to come back 10/4 for a biopsy. And though she did see something on my arm that had the characteristics of skin cancer, she never bothered to look anywhere else on my body. No mole checks, nothing. I've spoken to a number of dermatologists since, and doing proactive skin checks is dermatology 101. I went for the biopsy on 10/4 - and received a LETTER on 10/15 telling me that I do have skin cancer. No call. It just said, "please call to schedule an appointment for complete excision." I was told I have cancer via letter - with zero call. I've never had cancer, I don't know what this means and it's obviously terrifying - and it felt like I was notified via a form letter. I called to schedule the "complete excision," and they didn't have anything open until 12/4. I told them I was scared and worried, and I was told simply that they didn't have anything sooner. Zero attempt to provide clarity or help me understand what was happening with my body. For my son, his result was a benign cyst. Dr. Peace looked at it for 5 seconds, and told him he could live with it like that for the rest of his life. But days later, he decided he wanted it to be removed. That it would make him feel better to have it out. So I called to schedule an appointment for a cyst removal. I said very clearly that that's what it was for. The appointment was scheduled, and the day before the appointment, my son came down with a cold. I called Westchester Dermatology to tell them he was sick, and ask if they thought it would be wise to get a cyst removal while he was sick. The girl on the phone said it would probably be fine, but that I could reschedule if it felt better to do that. I rescheduled for today, 11/19. Because this office is so obviously disorganized, I called twice to confirm the appointment. Today, I had a bad feeling so I called the office 45 minutes before the appointment to confirm - again. I was told that yes, he did have an appointment - but that it was just for a follow-up. I could not believe it. My son has been SO anxious in anticipation of this appointment. He's been waiting and trying to get this thing out of his hand since September, and TODAY I was told that Dr. Peace doesn't even do cyst removals on kids. BUT, she wanted us to come in anyway for another evaluation. I responded that that would be a waste of time, that it's clear they just want me to come in so they can charge us for another appointment. This place does not care about you. My appointment at this medical practice was one of the most disturbing in my decades-long history and experience as a patient. Based upon the wholly unorthodox practices that the lead dermatologist, Dr. Peace, condones from her staff, this is an utterly unprofessional and hostile medical office. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'd booked an appointment for a treatment with this practice months before after a positive consultation with Dr. Peace.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I sat in the waiting room, a woman who I presumed to be the practitioner I'd been referred to appeared at the door and gestured for me to follow her. The practitioner never provided a greeting/salutation or introduction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I entered the OR, the practitioner sat in a chair and proceeded to stare at me for several seconds (still with no introduction).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To reiterate, there was never any modicum of the standard greeting or acknowledgment one would receive in a normal medical practice, nor was there reference to my prior consultation with Dr. Peace vis-a-vis a chart/file or any other documentation that a practitioner would generally refer to at the outset of a consultation follow-up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When the practitioner finally spoke (AFTER the egregiously uncomfortable stare-down), again, without introducing herself, she flippantly asked, "so what are you here for?"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At no point did the practitioner exhibit any semblance of professionalism or "bedside manner" conducive to positive client interaction. When I conveyed the reason for my appointment, the practitioner said she wouldn't be able to provide the service, much to my bewilderment and frustration. After this bizarre disavowal, the practitioner proceeded to spout nonsensical claptrap about "relationships" and "not being able to do the treatment". [[HIGHLIGHT]]I expressed dissatisfaction and downright confusion about the practitioner's conduct and asked to see Dr. Peace.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When Dr. Peace arrived, she merely reinforced and cosigned her staff member's bizarre, unprofessional, inappropriate, and discomfiting behavior, proclaiming that their subject matter expertise and practice were based on "relationships". If making clients feel uncomfortable, gaslighted, and demeaned is this medical office's "relational" standard operating procedure and "best" practice, then any sentient human being who values their time, effort, money, and energy should avoid it at all costs. read more

I came in to see Dr Sherri Peace in 2021 for scar tissue removal that was causing me pain and she took a look and said she can remove without an issue. I scheduled my procedure then the day of the procedure she said that it was unnecessary and that I would end up with a scar anyway. I still proceeded with the procedure since it was causing pain with good results and no more pain. flash forward to May 2024, I schedule a consult for a bump on my lip she took a look said it would be no problem and she could remove it, that there may be a scar and I told her I'm ok with that. I scheduled my appointment for the procedure. I went in and she again did the same as my first experience. said it was cosmetic and explained what to expect which was different from the consult. I asked why this wasn't explained in the consult which bothered her and then she proceded to tell me she was not comfortable moving forward anymore. this doctor has no communication skills and wastes your time and makes you feel like your concerns are pointless because it's only cosmetic in her opinion. I do not recommend her at all. shes terrible, both times she made me feel like she didn't want to treat me. to add to that, her staff tried to get me to sign a waiver saying that they explained everything about the procedure BEFORE I actually saw the doctor. obviously this last app ended in me walking out in frustration since it was a waste to schedule this appointment. I finished intake in the waiting room at 9:13. I was seen at 9:50. I can hear the doctor (Sherri), along with her staff laughing in the other room. They were there for a minute. The new employee who does the intake was asking me if it's okay if herself, one other person, and the doctor could be in the room with myself. I said "No," as I was having my bikini area looked at. So the new employee changed it to, "It'll just be one other intake person and the doctor." What was the point of asking me if she was going to still have two people in the room with me, as I had my bikini area looked at? The doctor seemed nonchalant when she spoke. I told her that I forgot, and hadn't taken the medication for acne scars, and she then asked me, "So how is it working?" I just stated that I hadn't tried the medication yet. This lead me to believe that she wasn't listening. Again, her nonchalantness made me feel as though I wasn't wanted there, and that I was just a customer that was going to pay another dollar. read more

Dr. Peace cancelled my appointment a day before after waiting an entire month for it. When trying to reschedule, her assistants contradicted each other about the doctor's calendar, first telling me that she wasn't available for a video call, then telling me she was after a second call. I was finally given the option to do a video call instead (or reschedule the office appointment weeks later). I didn't think the doctor could diagnose my issues effectively through a video call so I asked for a reduced price but it was rejected. For a last minute cancellation I would have expected the doctor to call personally (as opposed to her clueless assistants), and I would have certainly expected a reduced price for a video call, especially when I had originally scheduled an office appointment. If you decide to schedule an appointment with this doctor make sure to have a back up appointment, they clearly can't handle cancellations in a very professional manner. Or simply don't schedule the appointment with them if you'd like to avoid last minute surprises... read more
