After waiting 5 weeks for the exact dryer we wanted - which included steam, the appliance arrived without a steam kit. We were advised by the delivery company (not part of Westcoast Appliances - WCA) that they had advised WCA about it and the lack of instructions re placing on the pedestal (which they still did - thank you) 2 days later - no contact from WCA 2 more days later, eventually able to speak to someone (not sales person) who confirmed the steam kit should have been included and they would action 2 days later we need to follow-up as no action Now a week later still no contact from WCA as to when they will be completing the installation of dryer by adding the steam element, we ordered 6 weeks ago Things can go wrong; the test is how do you deal with it when it does You have failed the test! read more

The worst company to buy from. The stove I bought was second hand. When I brought it home and used the oven for the first time, a lot of black smoke came out. We've dealt with a cracked stove top the second week of owning it, and now the oven is stuck on broil mode. The owner "sympathizes" with us, but due to the cracked stove top, nothing is covered under warranty. I love how he will give us a discount on a similar item.. I think one too many mistakes makes you loose a client. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH. Second-hand is not always best and when they say things are covered under warranty, the moment you take it home. Bought five appliance for a condo restoration. WCA was recommended by an appliance repairman I know who emphasized the fact that this company is one of the few that service what they sell directly. I read some negative reviews but have learnt that many reviewers often have an axe to grind. I try to always be accurate in my assessments. Given there are supply shortages and other outside factors beyond the control of retail appliance sales centres, one has to expect some issues. I was treated well by the sales staff, but there wasn't a sense of real consultation with a product expert, depending on who you get, as I experienced some exasperation determining fitment, etc. Deliveries were a bit of an issue as I kept giving a cell number to contact for the delivery window yet five times they called the wrong number. Seems so simple. Different delivery teams were used over the three deliveries periods. I had to refuse a washer and dryer for fork lift damage, so be careful. Inspect your delivery. They were satisfactorily exchanged. No complaints. Second set had some similar side lift damage but it was far more minor. Who knows where the damage originated. One delivery team I had to ask them to level one of the products. One would think that was part of the delivery. On another delivery they levelled the product but I had to loan my tool. Not a problem. Just curious. My first fridge was actually a few removed from what I originally wanted, then frosted up second day. Repair guy was there the next day. There's that great service. No calling some third party or the factory. But the repair man dented the door. We sought an upgrade and it was reluctantly given, so kudos there. We had to sign a paper that we couldn't refuse the next delivery due to minor scratches, etc. Never heard of that before. The delivery guy dented the wall but the fridge survived okay. Easy to fix the wall. Flat stainless steel panels not so much. The fridge was deeper than I thought, looks horrible, but that's okay, the condo is a rental. I bought new appliances for my bigger home at a different retail outlet in town, probably not as good repair service, or at least more convoluted to get help, but was far less stressful overall. And delivery was truly exemplary. So, not perfect with WCA Gallery, but what is these days? Update. The new GE fridge immediately started making a weird mechanical noise. I phoned service and again, they came out almost immediately. Folks, you just don't get that kind of fast warranty response normally anymore. Appliance stores that use third party service coverage can take three weeks to show up these days. This is such an important consideration today. Anyway, as the sound is not reproducible on demand, I'd made a recording. The the technician couldn't find anything wrong I took the recording to the location and their service manager called right away, ordering proactively a number of possible parts that might be the problem. I was sold a LG washing machine that is such a bad design that it doesn't clean your clothes or get soap out. I have been asking if they will do something for me since I received it and now it has been almost 2 years and I received my answer. I got a call from the owner who says, they will do nothing for me and he isn't going to discuss it anymore and hung up on me. Once they deliver your machine, you are on your own. Every time I went in, the sales person that I was dealing with and who was going to see if they could do something for me, was not there anymore. The turnover of sales staff must mean something. This is the worst retail experience I have ever had, complete with being shouted at by one of the owners and being accused of being a liar by the other. They delivered a very expensive, damaged dryer to my home and I was told by their own repair man that it needed to be replaced. Months went by and I never heard a word. In those months, they had changed their mind about what needed to be done and in the ensuing interactions with them, I was exposed to some pretty shocking verbal interactions the like of which I have never heard of! My mistake was to order the wrong depth refrigerator in the first place. I fully paid for it and it was delivered within 6 weeks. Of course, it did not fit. They removed the fridge on the same day and a new right depth refrigerator was ordered. After a cost of approximately $500 restocking fee, and reordering and paying the restocking fee, I was told on a visit to the store that my refrigerator would be delivered within 5 days. That was to be today. After phoning delivery and getting no answer, I phoned the office to be told that it would be delivered 4 days later. I judge service on what they do, and not what they say. We went to Westcoast Appliance at the beginning of the pandemic to outfit our kitchen when we moved into a new house, and got very good, very safe 4-star service, coming away with a fancy induction range, a nice hood fan and dishwasher. The reason for the 5-star review came later. After only a few months, I damaged the range, (totally my fault) and after consulting with the Service department, it came out that the replacement part was discontinued by the manufacturer and we could NOT get the range fixed! Frantically, I started calling other suppliers trying (unsuccessfully) to find a solution. A few days later I got a call from Gerrit, our salesperson from Westcoast. He told me he'd heard about our predicament, and he and his manager thought this was unacceptable product support from the manufacturer, so they had worked out a plan to sell me the floor model of our range for around the same price as the repair was supposed to cost! The replacement arrived today, delivered by careful, professional appliance movers, and we couldn't be more pleased. To us, this seems above and beyond for an appliance store, and we really appreciate that they solved what seemed like an insoluble problem. Worst customer service I've ever experienced, I will never shop there again. My fridge was damaged when it was delivered when the technician attempted to do a door swing. Three different technicians came within three months of that to try and fix the fridge only to end up damaging it even more. The staff were rude and unprofessional and refused to provide me with a replacement fridge. It finally took four months for a manager to come and fix it himself. The owner and manager were unapologetic and didn't seem concerned with their reputation or that they had lost a customer. I'm telling everybody I can to avoid this company. read more

I have just purchased a washer and dryer from Westcoast in Victoria, BC. My experience with them was excellent. I found that during the pandemic many of their competitors stopped hauling away old appliances which were being replaced and only delivering new ones to the front doors or residences or multi-unit complexes with no installation provided. This would have meant hiring multiple companies to undertake the replacement of my appliances. Fortunately Westcoast not only offered to take away my old washer and dryer at a reasonable cost but they delivered the new appliances to my unit and installed them. Their sales staff was excellent. Clayton and his helper were on time with the delivery and had the old appliances out and the new ones installed in very short order. I would definitely use them again. read more

Not that long ago my washing machine's drum came to an abrupt stop. It's happened before and another service company was fantastic, but when I called I got a voice telling me my hold time would be 15 minutes. I equate that to a long wait for a repair. Being as impatient as I am I decided to go with another company. So I called Westcoast Appliances. The result? I was still without a washer for two weeks and the price for service is frankly a little high. More importantly I was misquoted the price of a used part. Two stars go to slow service after initial consultation and misquotation. The one star saver is they did reduce the price of the part to the original price when I inquired about it and I do love the idea of used parts fixing an otherwise perfectly good machine. read more

they refused to help me! i could not believe my ears. i was passed down from one sales rep to another. at the end, the sales manager jeff promised to call back and never did because i had challenging situation to fit a fridge into my space, on top of the fact that i am a demanding customer and know my prices and what i want. i would not care less but to my disappointment, i ended up wasting a lot of my time for the promised phone call, and when i called, i was told jeff decided not to help me. shocking!!! hence i here making sure everyone knows it. looks like they don't want to work hard to help. just wanted easy sale. i did the research and discovered west coast appliances is nothing special just another overpriced establishment who don't care about you. and they don't match the prices either. be aware! check your prices in home depot first and they have more variety than west coast appliances do. all they do good is advertising. will never shop at west coast appliances in my life!!! read more

The dishwasher in our rental house stopped draining so I called West Coast Appliances. The man I spoke to was pleasant and suggested a service call would be worth the $80 to see if it was just a clogged pipe. The appointment was made for the following week and I never heard anything from the appliance company until 6 weeks later when I received an invoice saying that the technician had refused to work on dishwasher because there was stagnent water in the bottom but still decided a full service charge was required. My beef with them is that they did not to tell me when I booked the appointment that they would not work on a dirty dishwasher (obviously there would be water in the bottom if it was not draining) and then did not contact me afterwards. I didn't pay the bill for a couple of months because I was annoyed with their service and then when I called to talk to someone it must have been the one pleasant employee they have because he said the manager would phone me back. Ron did phone me and was unrepentent and rude. He blamed the tennants for not talking to me although I was the contact person with a different address and phone # than tennants. The idea of a manager calling you back is not to bully the customer but to listen to their complaint and try to resolve it. Nice people skills! All in all, poor service, communication and flexibility. I think that the technicians must regularly come across water sitting in appliances and should have some old towels and vinegar in their truck to deal with it or at the very least, ask customers to get the stagnent water out of the appliances while they are waiting for service. I have paid for the non-service call but will never use West Coast Appliances again. read more

Don't bother calling these guys, they won't show up! We made an appointment with them to come look at our fridge that is not working. When we called them they said they would be by Tuesday, but to call first. When we did, they didn't know who we were. Then we made an appointment for the Thursday, again calling them to confirm in the morning. They said they would make the appointment between 9:30 - 12:30.... after waiting all day at home they did not show, did not call. Hey! I shouldn't have to BEG you to come look at my fridge! but at least call and let me know. I wasted a full day waiting, and I charge $170 per hour for my time. Can I send you an invoice?? Very disappointing experience. We visited Westcoast Appliance and had quick helpful service. We wanted to discuss the price in private and said we would be back. The sales rep wrote down the quote and appliance information for us. We returned not 20 min. later to purchase. The sales agent was busy and asked the manager(?) to process our purchase. It turns out the sales rep mis-quoted the price to us and the appliance was actually much more expensive. The person helping us did not apologize or discuss options, he berate the sales agent right in front of us and then walked off in a huff. The sales agent said oops sorry, then starred at us awkwardly. So we said "okay, thank you" and walked out. We understand that they cannot honour the prince quoted at such a difference, but how about an apology and explain to us there was an error and maybe offer a small compromise? We may have still bought the appliance from them, but their reaction to us was basically telling us to leave. Strange, bad experience; will never go back at this point. read more
