With more sunny days in Seattle, Westcrest is always one of my favorite spots to go to. It is small but might-y with endless possibilities! -good amount of parking -a big paved loop for walking/biking/running/jogging/rollerblading and more -a playground with a small zip line for the littles -inside of the paved loop is grass perfect for running around with your fur babies or having a picnic. In the summer, I often see families flying kites here too! -public restrooms -tables and benches This hidden gem is one of my favorites in the highland park area! read more

Huge park with an awesome playground! There is a community p-patch, several playgrounds, an open field, walking track, and an off-leash dog area. My kids had so much fun on the playground the dual ziplines were the highlight. Another cool feature were the slides built into the hillside. This is a clean park I didn't see any litter or spray-paint. There are a ton of signs warning you that cars get broken into so don't leave anything in your car! The parking lot is a bit off from everything so it's easy for theft to happen! read more

I worked nearby for six months, and during the summer heat I would often come here during my lunch hour to chill. Lots of shade, and a relaxing atmosphere, Westcrest Park boasts a few hiking trails and a dog park. It can be fun to stand at the edge of the dog park and watch the canines play. Ample parking, and the trails are fab for viewing nature and homeless tents. read more

Great park for kids and dogs (next door)! A great city open space for kids to run free and also to tel your dogs to walk. There's a nice play area and restrooms with a zip line. The parks is usually not crowded at all and there are parking options on both sides. I've seen reports of break-ins so take the regular amount of caution keeping your car clear of potential items to secure. We've been going here for 10+ years and have never once had an issue or break-in. read more

There is a great looking dog park and ample space to explore. But unfortunately I am going to have to give Westcrest park a two star rating because of two things, 1) there is a police maintenance facility IN THE PARK and the entire time I was there, I could hear power tools. 2) the paths around are completely dominated by some kind of invasive bush. The paths themselves didn't bring much interest and it is sad to see it becoming a mono-culture. Bonus - they should rename the park Madrone Park with all of the beautiful Madrone trees scattered in the forest. read more

This park has a beautiful view with a nicely updated playground and ample space to run around and play with your child. With that being said, the amount of crime and car prowls has gotten out of control!!! I wish I had known how bad it was before I came here immediately after school with my child. We had nothing in the car worth taking, but they smashed my window anyway and stole her small children's backpack that only contained only her homework (and unfortunately her prescription glasses as well). The playground area is far from the lot and with the wind blowing and sound of kids playing, it would be difficult to hear your car being broken into -- we had no idea until we were approached by a family who had just gotten there and parked. Another man who saw our vehicle told me that he brings his dog there frequently and has seen/heard of cars that were broken into in all of the surrounding parking lots regularly. Sucks that it happened on a bright and sunny afternoon. We probably will not be back for a long while even though my child loved playing here. read more

Westcrest Park was a lovely surprise the first time we found it. Being new to the area, we have explored the neighborhood, just hoping for little gems like this one. We don't have dogs, so we've only walked through the off-leash portion of the park a couple of times looking for new routes in to the woods. The hulking trees and foliage cover is a nice break from power walking the surrounding hills. It can get super muddy after the rain, and could use some maintenance along the path, but overall I look forward to our respite in the shade. read more

This is a wonderful park with lots of opportunity and we come here often but lately I've been a bit confused..... Westcrest Park has a huge, wonderful and ample off leash area and our husky loves to go visit with other dogs and run around. Westcrest Park also has some pleasant woods to hike and while our husky enjoys the dog park with my spouse, I will often hike in the woods with our not so social crazy unpredictable mutt who is on a leash cause we can't trust her! Lately I've been astounded at the amount of off leash dogs roaming outside the off leash area? I've had various negative encounters with dogs who come up and charge/fight off leash while on the hiking trails and it's dangerous to have unleashed dogs unexpectedly come to play, fight, romp or visit with a leashed dog. I AM CONFUSED AND I HAVE A QUESTION.... ARE THE TRAILS OUTSIDE OF THE OFF LEASH DOG PARK "OFF LEASH TRAILS"? If so, why are there so many dogs must be leashed signs..... I will continue to come here so we can exercise both our dogs and sometimes I enjoy meeting other dogs along the trail because it allows me to socialize my crazy unpredictable mutt with your free roaming illegally off leash animal. I just hope nobody or no dog gets injured. Peace out YO! read more

Westcrest is in my 'hood therefore I like it. Easy enough. But I really like the layout. You've got your big play area and there are trails that loop around the park. I'm a bit lazy so I let my pooch (a cutey named Dugan...but Dugan Edward to you) go as soon as we get in and he takes off like a bat out of hell. He loves it there. He gets to run around, chase other dogs, pee on everything in sight. This is the hang out dog spot in West Seattle so on somewhat nice days its packed. Parking gets filled up fast and never ever leave anything in your car. Way too many break ins there. I must commend the committee that keep Westcrest looking nice. I was actually a part of it during the summer. There was a clean up party with a very nice turn out. I like how committed people are to this park and keeping it available to everyone. There are some overprotective dog owners so be warned but I suppose you get that at any dog park. At Westcrest I've seen my share of dog fisticuffs and even more human confrontations over the dog's behavior. Let's calm down here, folks, but dog owners are a breed of their own. "Best In Show", anyone? Best movie ever. See it. Love it. I like Westcrest. It gets two thumbs up from me and two paws from my dog. read more

Ollie likes the Westcrest off-leash area. There are paths with lots of tall grass with endless places to sniff, huge open areas to chase tennis balls, a covered area to hang out in the rain, and plenty of other dogs to chase. It's not as big as Magnusen and lacking a swimming area, but for a small park Westcrest provides a good place for dogs to run around and burn some energy. One warning - don't leave any valuables in your car when you come here. Theft is rampant at areas like this. read more

The main playground area is broken down and fenced off. One of the 2 zip lines is also broken. There's only a couple swings and a rope climbing structure left to play on. My kids were very disappointed and we left to find a different park. Also lots of dog owners letting their dogs run around off leash, which doesn't feel safe around the kids. read more

Westcrest was a nice dog park but it can't compete with Marymoor or Magnuson parks. I liked the loop in the doggie park that I could walk with my dog without the leash. There were ample places for for me to throw/kick her ball. If I go back, I would like to walk on the trails which is outside of the dog park. If I lived in West Seattle area, I would give it a higher rating. My dog was just happy to be able to run far to chase a ball. FYI- there were signs everywhere about locking and putting away your valuables out of sight. I have to admit that I thought the views of the mountains from the park was gorgeous!! read more

Man!.. Just when I thought I was 'living the dream' with my closeness to Lincoln Park, Westcrest came into my life. This place is a dog owner's dream! For real! The dog park is remarkable with a H-U-G-E area for all dogs, and then a separate area for "Shy/Small Dogs." Not only that, there is an off-leash trail which you can walk with your four legged loved one) or loved ones', in my case). It is probably about 1/2 mile in length, but it takes you through beautiful forest on both sides of you. My dogs were having the time of their lives roaming free through the greenery. For those who don't own a pet, there is a mediocre looking playground here. You could probably find a better park for jogging (unless you wanna jog amongst dogs). So, to conclude, 5 stars for the dog park. It is the best I have ever been to or imagined, and I will most certainly be back asap! read more

Westcrest ranks #3 on our (my border collie & I) favorite dog parks. Highlights: + Several mid-size open areas to play ball - just big enough for them to run, but not so big they can disappear for hours like Magnuson and Marymoor + Benches to relax on while the dogs play + covered area which is a huge bonus in the rainy months + water station + well-maintained: gravel and cedar always seem replenished and the owners' do an above average job at cleaning up after their dogs + It has the very important full perimeter fence Two entrances. Neither are double gated if you have a dog who is inclined to hover at the gate greeting new arrivals, keeping an eye out. The people are friendly, but a few are not so gate savvy shall I say? One friendly family let 5 dogs out as the dogs 'wanted to go' . Clever! I didn't get a chance to give them a piece of my mind as I was too busy rounding up my dog...! Couple number 2 with the labadoodles: carefully came in, then don't latch the gate behind them. My pup doesn't miss a beat and out he went onto a new adventure with 2 new playmates! I Glad another dog was just arriving, whose owner saw me racing for the gate in a panic and they escorted my dog back inside. Westcrest also features a short wooded loop trail top exploring on, which is very nice at practicing being off leash without the risk of my adventurous pup disappearing into the underbrush forever. The 'on-leash' trails are also beautiful, but go at a popular time or with a big dog...as you never know who you'll bump into in there! Enough said. Be warned: this is a high car prowl location. Signs are up in the parking lots for a reason. On our second visit the car next to mine got smashed while we were in the off-leash area. Thankfully my early 90's junker with cassette player didn't warrant the effort and was spared. My review is limited to the off-leash area and trails; but there is also a kid's play area looks very nice as well. read more

Westcrest is big, with a variety of areas for all kinds of doggy activities. There's a big field for dogs who like to chase balls, a big hill with trees for dogs who like to pee on trees, and a huge trail around the perimeter for dogs & people who like to keep it moving. For people, there are nice views and not too much mud. The people who come here are friendly and responsible. They pick up after their dogs but aren't completely obsessive about watching everyone else (seriously--Northacres? Chill out--I'm getting the poop, give me .01 second to pull my bag out). Watch out for kids on weekends. Most of the parents are responsible & keep their kids under control, but occasionally you'll have toddlers running around like little prey animals or bigger kids trying to grab at dogs' ears. read more

We loved this park. We were in town with Obi and this was his first dog park experience, it was great. We went on a Friday and there must have been 50 dogs, it never felt over crowded because there is so much space. California needs to take lessons from this park out town needs one more like this. It was so much better than our usual fenced square. read more

ugh. I'm trying to lose weight here, people. I went to Westcrest park for the first time today. I'm running. I'm in a secluded part. Oh, hi, dude. I keep running. I wonder why that dude was staring at me--OH, HI, another dude. I wonder why the guys aren't wearing exercise clothes? OH, HI, DUDE, sitting alone on a log, staring at me! Ugh. Way to ruin an absolutely beautiful place. The dog park part was lovely and amazing, and there are no open-mouthed dudes lurking about. But between the man-meat market and the warnings about car break-ins, I'm sticking to Lincoln and Fauntleroy Parks. I'd hate to wind up like Ben Stiller when he mistakenly gets arrested at the truck stop in There's Something About Mary. read more

This is a lovely park in a residential neighborhood. The updated playground is far from any busy streets, so I feel safe letting my runner go. The meadow is beautiful. However, the park was trashed. There was garbage all over--on tables and benches, on the ground, around the play structures--and the trash bins were overflowing. We left because it was just too gross to play. read more

This is one of our favorite parks. It's also a dog park but we like to go to the children's play area. The kids have a blast and it is so quiet and peaceful and a nice place to meet friends. The children's play area has it all, swings, slides, etc. read more

This is a terrific off-leash park for smaller dogs. There is a separate fenced in area for "shy and small" dogs. When you have a 12 pound dog this is very comforting at an off-leash park. It's not that my dog doesn't like other dogs, she just doesn't think she is a dog and always gives me that, "Why do you want me to play with these furry creatures?" look. I have heard a few warnings about people's dogs getting sick from drinking the water here, so I always bring my own bowl and water for Agnes. I also really enjoy the wooded trails that are incorporated into the dog park area, lets Agnes explore a bit on her own yet still keep "daddy" in her sight. read more

Awesome park with new play structures, climbing net, slides and two zip lines. There's a nice path for waking, roller skating or riding bikes/scooters. I actually like the dog park. There are nice dogs and nice people. My dogs have a good time here. But I guess I missed the signs posted saying to lock up your valuables (though I know I should know better). Upon my 4th visit here, I came back to my car with my window smashed and my purse stolen. No one seemed surprised, and the cops sure didn't care. Sooo, I guess I'm out $500 on that trip to the dog park. I will be looking in to other dog parks as well as locking my purse in the trunk. read more

I took my dog here for the first time and unfortunately it will most likely be the last time. I wanted to like this park, and it started off decently; the layout was better than I expected and the park was much more spacious than I had anticipated. There's a big dumpster for dog poo bags, some cheap plastic lawn furniture, some really high benches, and a little agility set. My dog was having a good time until he got clobbered by a pitbull; then the party was over. Only one other patron came to our defense, and everyone else just sort of idly stared. The owner of the rambunctious pitbull wandered off after my boyfriend intervened and pulled the pitbull off our dog. The apathy of the other park visitors made me sad, and the multiple entrances, while convenient, enable dogs to run up and pounce on yours before you can realize what's happening. I would recommend the off-leash area at Luther Burbank Park in Mercer Island. It's a bit of a drive from West Seattle, but has much better vibes than Westcrest. read more

This is such a nice park for dogs and children. If you feel there is a problem with the men that go to the park to meet other men you should complain to the parks department and the police department. I do agree that children should not be subjected to these men's open behavior. As to the theft issue, we can contact the parks department and police and request (demand) cameras though-out the park. It's sad that families do not go to this park do to the above activities. read more
