We had a 2 day stay there and one of the days visited Mesa Verde NP and also visited the Durango Hot Springs that are located across the street, which is the reason why we booked here. Close enough to town and Durango Silverton train. Which passes by the campground. The parts that we did not like was the hook up locations. It seems like they have been done by someone who never had a RV or Travel Trailer. Laundry was listed under inclusions, but it is not included and is 7$ per load which is pricy. Also when booking instead of just a nightly fee they do nightly fee + per person fee for over 2 people, plus if you have 50a , basically pay attention to the fees. We were there for a few days and never saw anyone in the office until I gave 4 days notice telling her that we would be needing to check out a couple days early. Only then did she appear and wanted to charge me the entire amount since I didn't cancel 14 days in advance. Never heard of this in all my camping days and this was never disclosed prior to booking. We refused and paid her only for the amount of days we stayed. Beware! Nice treed RV park. Small, close to Durango & Silverton steam train tracks. 8 miles from Durango. No bathroom facilities like most RV parks. Right across the street from Hot Springs. No discount. In ground Sewage system was full the day we left so we couldn't empty our grey & black water tanks. Empty your tanks before you get there. read more

We were here 4 nights and never saw one single staff person. We were checked in via email with site number. Place has not been maintained for months. Dog park totally overgrown with weeds. Only good thing is it's across street from Durango Hot Springs. So disappointing! read more

We stayed in Durango Co for a few nights at the Westerly RV Park. It's a no frills place. No showers or bathrooms but they did have laundry facilities. The owners Brian & Katy could not be any friendlier. They were easy to deal with from booking until checkout. We arrived late and paperwork was easy to find and clearly marked and waiting for us. Even though it was late Brian still came over to greet us and give us information on the site and campground. Sites were spacious & level (we had site 18). Full hookups, fireplace (no burn rules in place for the area right now), very clean picnic table, grass and the site was well maintained. Directly across the street is the hot springs hot tub place. Only downside and it really was not horrible, was the train passes by pretty close and enjoys blowing the whistle. 3 trains in the morning starting at 830am and 2 in the early. read more

We had a great week at Westerly RV Park. Brian was very accommodating and a great host. Kelly was a great helper. We were there for one week in mid-September. We had a center space the first night. The next day we requested a space on the edge, next to the hot springs stream. We were able to switch spaces (thank you Brian). That made all the difference!! We had shade trees, mountain views, a green pasture view and best of all, a hot spring stream right behind our Airstream. We soaked our feet every afternoon in the mineral laden water. The RV park is fenced in and very clean. There are laundry facilities on site. It is a quiet RV park. We will come back to Durango and Westerly RV Park. Thanks guys for a wonderful time read more

We came in to Durango late Christmas Eve to discover most camping areas were closed for the season. We were lucky enough to find this cute little RV park! Made last minute reservations in peak season and there was a cancellation The manager Brian helped me back in when i told him I was terrible at it. He also helped me fix a few small issues in RV...plus he noticed my truck needed washing badly and provided me with soap brushes and a hose. Wow that is service. Park has mixture of locals and tourists and has lots of nice trees. I feel safe and my dogs have a little yard. Not fancy but a perfect spot for us. Friendly people and great location read more

How can this RV Park get five stars? We made a reservation for a month. We have a 45' motor home. We were given site #20. Site was small, has loose gravel, mud' and far from level. We had to share the site's space with the site next to us. No privacy. Due to trees. Satellite did not work. They do not have cable, and there are no local television stations. They have Internet, but it does not work. When asked to be moved to an empty site. They refused. Stating that they were all sold out. Though there were many empty sites. Campground does not have bathrooms, or showers. Level, and larger sites are occupied by long term permanent residents. This RV park does NOT observe state mandated COVID-19 guide lines. Owners, and long term residents do not ware masks, or maintain social distancing!!! We left after one unhappy night. Avoid! read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE STAYING AT WESTERLY RV PARK It is imperative people read this warning, especially women, before attempting to stay here. I have a long story about what happened to me and my girls last Saturday night which I won't go through all the details. I will tell you it involved a lot of yelling (from the manager of the park at me and others) name calling, pounding on my RV, accusations, threatening bodily harm, him throwing rocks at people, and the police. i was so terrified I left as soon as I could. The manager had told me to leave anyway. I waited for the police before I would leave my camper. Know this, especially females by themselves or without a male with them the Durango Police dept does not care and will not help you. Just dont go there. He seems to target only women. There is no doubt in my mind that he has a weapon and will use it to hurt someone. The kind of rage he displayed was not in any way normal. There is something seriously wrong with him! Please please ladies do not go to this facility! I'm not sure he's gone after men but go at your own risk! read more

This campground is awful and management is very rude. Most of the people here are permanent, there's junk all over their camp spots. The managers space is full of junk also, has a broken down truck and another truck that's got at least 30 bags of trash in it. We witnessed the manager become very confrontational with a camper and he told them to F off and leave. We heard the whole conversation, the campers weren't obnoxious or confrontational when they tried to talk to the manager. Those people are leaving tomorrow instead of whatever their original departure date was, we also are leaving early. We travel all over the country and haven't experienced such poor business and people skills from campground management. Don't waste your money and don't disappoint yourself by staying here. This morning while we're packing up to leave the managers wife came out and started getting verbal. Neither have common business sense. read more

Negative stars for scary behavior from manager. I had inquired at Durango hotel who could not make room available in time. They recommended this RV park since I had been expedition camping. I let Westerly manager know I was trying to find somewhere close to the hot springs but was told by manager to find another campsite since they were an RV park. When I pulled up to hot springs I noticed Westerly RV park was right across the street with signs that advertised they had hot springs. I was advised by one of the live in tenants to speak with the manager. I asked the tenant if he thought the manager could make an exception...his reply was that this is why the on site manager is there and not to mention his name. Thanks Mike. I knocked on the manager's trailer...who then came out and asked me if we had already spoken on the phone. I said yes explaining I didn't realize his location was close to where I was going, right across the street. He became abusive and demeaning. He threatened me and said I was trespassing, as he made violent gestures with his fist. I asked him why he was acting this way and he kept insulting me. I'm sure this isn't the first time he has treated a woman this way. According to other reviews it is not. He then accused me of having red eyes...my response was well I've been driving and camping for two days but that I've been alcohol and drug free for 33 years so that is not the case. I was completely shocked and told Durango Hot Springs what had happened. Their response was that they are not affiliated with this RV park even though Westerly has signs claiming the contrary. BEWARE.... not a good RV Park. RUN DOWN DOG RUN, FULL OF WEEDS AND ROCKS. Owner does not allow dogs on grassy areas which are a part of your common area when you park your RV. Host/owner turned our power off while we were gone and my 3 dog were still on the RV and this was in the summer time. Moved our gate and told us if we didn't like it we could pack up and leave. So we did..... Management is horrible. read more

This is a great little rv park on the outskirts of Durango. The managers were very accommodating and when we had to leave early they gladly issued us a refund! That is basically unheard of these days! One caveat: It is right next to a busy highway and the Duango/Silverton tourist train. It has lots of trees and a view of nearby mountains. read more

We have been at Westerly for two weeks now, we have enjoyed our stay very much. It's clean and well-kept, the host is really great, the sites are spacious. This is a basic RV park, the amenities include full hookups and a laundry room. There aren't bathrooms/showers or cable TV but our RV is fully self-contained so we don't need access to a separate shower or toilet and our antenna picks up the basic local channels like ABC, NBC and CBS which is good enough for us. read more

We stayed at this campground over Father's Day weekend. The RV park is about 10 mins outside of Durango. It appeared many of the campers were long term residents. There were scattered trees and a lovely little hot springs stream that we were able to dip our feet in. The park was clean, organized and everything was in working fashion. We traveled with our young kids, and the green spaces were limited for play. There was no formal playground. We knew the recreation for kids was limited, but we still booked the site because the park had received great reviews. The hosts were gracious, kind, and friendly! In fact, they came to our site and showed the kids their new kitten and their sweet cat. That was such a nice gesture. Each site had a picnic table, and some sites shared little firepits. Although the state has a no burn order at the time we went. If you're traveling with babes, go across the street and enjoy the hotsprings. It's unique and worth it! read more

We stay at this park every year. It is open all year which is great because we love to ski and the mountain is 20 min. away! The new park managers are superb and a much needed breath of fresh air. The park condition is getting worse every year, it needs upgraded badly for the price they charge and to be a pretty place again. We hope the new managers make it a gem again! read more

Beware of faulty electrical pedestals. Fried my $300 surge suppressor. Owners were terribly rude and acted like they didn't even care.. They were too busy with other campers. Wouldn't give me a refund and said they didn't have another available spot with a working pedestal. Beware of this terrible campground. read more

What it lacks for in amenities (no toilet, laundry, shower, etc) it makes up for with lots of grass, trees (fruit), quaint size (23 spots) and access to the Trimble Hot Springs (across the street at a discount). read more

Mr Bob is a wonderful camp host and very accommodating.. Camp sites are spacious and clean. You can see the Durango train come by 2x a day from the park and make sure you visit the Trimble hot springs across the street. Overall a great quiet dog friendly place to visit for a few days. read more

We were stuck, Memorial don't they weekend bus three days away and we did not have a place to stay. Called Westerly RV and they were very accommodating. They squeezed us in and we were grateful. The camp hosts are part owners and they made sure every guest was comfortable and all needs were cared for. Dog friendly, great laundry room, Beautiful bird houses all around and best of all the hosts created an atmosphere that was friendly and inclusive. There are trees for shade and it's directly across the street from Durango Hot Springs. I would recommend this place to anyone with a good attitude and friendly read more

So much of where you are is where you've been! I agree with the others pleasant. small park, clean and the sites are spacious. The camp hosts, Bob and Kay made our visit special by telling us about the town of Durango and sites to visit. Any questions or concern we had they were there to answer. Kathy, their daughter is a real asset..... she grew up in the area and told us how the town has changed etc. We will be back on our way to California in the future! We stayed 9 days in early June, 2014. I made our reservation via phone about 10 days prior to our stay and Bob (owner) was so nice and accommodating. He even called a couple of days prior to our arrival to double check and re-confirm our stay. The park is small but has adequate space between sites. The long "pull thru" sites are actually designed to accommodate 2 rigs if the park gets very busy. We were parked behind someone, found it a non-issue. There are back in sites which will accommodate a large RV but hubby was worried we wouldn't get satellite reception because of trees. As mentioned, the Durango Silverton RR runs right by the park, we enjoyed hearing the train in the morning and evening. There is a nice market across the highway, also a hardware store and liquor store. There are no showers so people who are not self contained or like to use facility bathrooms wouldn't want to stay here. There is a nice laundry, a bit pricey but clean and dryers excellent. The owners are extremely nice as are the "regulars" who come for the summer. I gave this park 5 stars because it is just the kind of place we love to find. Others who want and need more amenities may feel differently. Definitely would stay again! Oh, forgot to add the WIFI was fabulous, very good reception and pretty fast too! read more
