We've been here twice--last year, also for Memorial Day weekend, and this year. Last year things were great. We missed the Duck Races, but enjoyed pool, mini-golf, and pickleball. We skipped the food, having brought our own "camping" fare to eat and the kids wouldn't let us miss roasting hot dogs. We got their propane fire pit--I believe it's $25 for the pit and a full tank of propane. Nothing horribly special about it, but we enjoyed sitting around it and cooking hotdogs and marshmallows. There's no wood fire allows for safety reasons, so this made a great 2nd place. The folks there were very nice. They check you in and lead you to your spot and help you get you larger campers in if you need the help. We didn't have to leave the vehicle. The campground was clean and they were on top of all issues right away. They seemed like a group of friends or family taking care of their own property. We had a great time. This year we returned and things seemed more streamlined. Check in was quicker, they checked on us to make sure we were satisfied, everyone was very friendly. The pool was open--while not an Olympic sized pool, there was plenty of room for about a dozen kids and adults to be playing games and splashing around while many more (including myself) sat around the side of the pool in provided lounge chairs. We were told they were bought by a new group, and this group made some positive changes. First they started carrying a new pizza (Hunt Brothers, I think?) and for 12 bucks you get a pizza with as many toppings as you want with no extra charge--only charge is extra cheese. They were made quickly and delivered to our camp site. They also have a breakfast area with standard breakfast fare, as well as a pie/icecream shop in the main office. They have tent camping, Pull-through, Cabins, and big rig RV parking. Anything you need is available on site. They have laundry and showers, water, propane, and of course all the hookups you need. The new business that owns them seems to want to keep what worked and improve what needed improvement. They actually asked us how things were, what we thought about the changes (they knew we were there the previous year) and asked for suggestions on improvements. This wasn't the kind of corporate buyout where they try to streamline and skimp on everything, maximizing profits while running the business into the ground. Either the new owners genuinely care, or they put people in charge that genuinely care, and give them the authority to fix things. The only employee whose name we remember was Deborah, and she was very friendly and really peppy. She also happened to be the female employee mentioned below. The best part was during the duck races (an event we're told they hold on holidays where you can "buy" a numbered rubber ducky to race down the creek with everyone else's--the money goes to local charities--they said this time was the local Humane Society) Deborah was dancing around, quacking and flapping her "wings" getting everyone else involved while cheering on their own ducks. The race may have only lasted a couple of minutes, but it was a blast. You did not have to buy in to watch--and the ducks go fast! We sent our daughter to buy a few and were told they were already sold out! Pickleball was hard to get ahold of this year--the campgrounds weren't full, but there were some larger families that were quicker than us. We were able to get pool easily. They also put on movies outdoors (though covered). While we were there, they were all kid-friendly movies. I only remember one night was Finding Nemo. We plan on checking out one of their large cabins next year with more family. read more

Traveling full-time in a 42-foot coach we have stayed in over 400 RV Parks, we stayed here seven nights. (1) Clean, quiet and well-maintained park with great amenities is what you will find here along with a very friendly staff. (2) We live in the age of WIFI technology and there is nothing to stop any RV Park across this country from investing in doing WIFI properly. For some users such as ourselves, WIFI is an important feature and was one of the reasons for our stay here. We were told both by email and phone that each site had a good wifi signal. The wifi in and around our site was just about non-existent. We were in direct sight of two wifi towers, but still couldn't get a decent connection, even at 5am. Other guests we spoke with also had non-existent wifi! We know enough not to count on a good signal over the weekends, but during the weekday there is no excuse. We even had the WIFI-Ranger on our roof with a direct-line-of-sight to their wifi source. (3) Level pads, big coaches need paved or thick gravel pads that are level. We give this park a 5-star rating for having level gravel sites. (4) Maneuverability, some parks have very narrow roads which make backing up and turning very difficult, we found this park to have plenty of room to maneuver. (5) Dust, some parks are so dusty that even after short stays your unit needs a bath, this place is very dusty compared to many other parks, no grass here. (6) Satellite, as you know satellite reception is very hard to receive when you have large trees. If you stay away from the sites with the tall trees to the south you will receive reception. (7) Phone Service, we have AT&T which worked great here. (8) Dog play and potty, plenty of room to walk your dog here, plus there are two fenced-in dog runs. The Bad.... We had a pull-thru site but could not attach our tow car until after we pulled out. Our site was very long but there was not enough room to pull out of our site without having to back up. Maneuverability with a smaller coach and tow car might be possible. read more

This is no longer a KOA. It's called Oasis RV Resort. It's still wonderful! We stop through here every time we are in the area.

Good clean accommodations. Noisy highway though. I would stay here again. This was my second time here and the service is always consistent. read more

We were there for the week of Memorial Day. We booked this KOA because on the website it said that there was breakfast at the caboose cafe and pizza at night. When we got there and asked about it, all we were told was they were under new management... no offers to discount our stay (and we did tell them that is why we stayed at THAT one). Never went out of there way to do anything! WILL NOT be back to this KOA!!!!! read more

We almost canceled our plans thanks to the army of YouTube viewers who left reviews when they hadn't even stayed at the property. I'm so glad we didn't. Honestly, it was beautiful and we had zero issues. The lady working the ice cream hut though, please put on a mask! That was our only issue, so we just didn't give them the business. But the location is beautiful and our interactions with the staff were pleasant. No sign of the person who seemed to cause issues. Not sure why all the drama here. read more

My family and I love staying at KOAs anytime we go out of town. The cabins are so nice and cozy and they're pet friendly (this is a must for me because we have a small dog). We stayed 2 nights at the studio cabin and we were impressed by the hospitality and neatness of the cabin. The location is a plus, close to the city and grocery store. So far, this is our favorite KOA. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they close for the winter season. read more

We rented a VRBO for the week, but arrived in town two days early, so we decided to camp at the KOA until our VRBO was ready. We got there just in time, as we got the last campsite right before someone else called to reserve it. The site was very small and got full sun all day long, but it was fine since we weren't there much. The grounds are quite nice, they have a lot of activities planned, and it was clean. The amenities were nice and we had fun during the time we were there. We didn't order pizza either night, but I thought it was cool that it was offered. We did visit the Kaboose Cafe one morning, and that was pretty good. Carole was running the cafe and she was very nice. My biggest complaint is the smoking. I guess I just assumed that it would be non-smoking, but boy was I wrong. Anytime we were at our campsite, we were surrounded by smokers -- cigarettes, cigars and pot. That really made our stay unpleasant as we had no where to go to get away from it. My other complaint is not entirely KOA's fault, but it has to do with dogs. I can appreciate them accommodating pets, and not once did I see dog crap anywhere, but perhaps they should be a bit more discriminating with pets and not allow aggressive dogs. We had just driven for 24 hours straight, it was really hot, and our kids needed to get some energy out. So, we quickly set up our tent and headed to the pool. There was a woman sitting with her large dog right outside of the gate, telling everyone her dog was aggressive and not to come near it. Um, why are you sitting right next to the gate to the pool with an aggressive dog, why would you bring an aggressive dog to a place with tons of strange people and kids, and why did KOA allow it? She spoke like she'd been there for a while, they had to have known. read more

Such a fun campground! There's a train that goes by in the mid morning and late afternoon that is so much fun to see and that the kids just absolutely adored! There's also a trolley stop that picks you up right outside of the campground that will take you to any place in downtown Durango! The bathrooms are clean,the hook ups were super easy, and the pool was a good size. This is the perfect choice if you're RVing it and need a campground! read more

Made reservations for two nights. Arrived on the first night with our 28' Class C RV and got a spot in the newer section. Didn't like it at all. The spaces are cramped and on top of each other. Our site didn't have a fire ring. The next morning, we requested a different site and were given one that was much better, although the owner offered to put a fire ring in our first site. Still would have preferred something more isolated. It's as if the staff assumes people in motor homes only want to be crammed into a parking lot on top of other campers. There were some nicer spots with more trees and privacy but we didn't want to move again. The owner was very friendly and helpful throughout the process and when attending us and other customers in the store. There is a list of activities but it would be nice if the movie time were posted. The grounds are very clean and well maintained. read more

We (family with 3 small kids) recently just finished a 5 night stay at the Durango KOA and had a great experience. We stayed in one of their new Deluxe Cabins and didn't regret our decision (were considering just the studio cabin at first). The staff at the park is very nice and friendly. The cabin itself was very clean, the beds were very comfortable and loved having a little fridge so we didn't have to eat out every night. The property is conviently located to Durango (5 minutes outside of it). My daughter loved the free wagon rides that they had around the property (every other night). The pool was very clean and a nice way to cool off. We didn't have any issues with our stay, but I wouldn't recommend it for tent camping, because most of the tent sites are out in the open (unless you just want a clean bathroom, shower and place to do your laundry for the night). I would recommend staying there - much better than a hotel in Durando and with a few more comforts of home. Can't wait to go back. read more

Spent 2 nites in a rv site. Very easy to level the trailer. Easy drive thru . Great staff. Very helpful. Great amenities. Very clean restrooms and free showers. Nice store to buy what you need. I adore this place! The view of the Animas River is gorgeous! We did opt for the upgraded site because I have a cast on and appreciate not having to walk far while having a fantastic view. After checking in we had ice cream and snow cones as a treat, they have a little cinema for movies but I just wanted to relax. I've brought a crock pot and already have lunch going. I wasn't sure how the fire restrictions would impact us but you can use external propane grills. Our site has a metal fire pit if were allowed to use would be great for s'mores also has a nice size picnic table and cement slab for chairs. Wehave an RV rented, the showers and restrooms are very nice and have built in hair dryers. I'll make my way back for a clean up later this afternoon. They have a sweet little store with a variety of options from food to shirts and souvenirs and least not hand made Fudge! We can here the train periodically which was fun as well. Last weekend was Memorial weekend so apparently every lot was filled but today it's only about 1/4 filled expected to fill up again by Saturday. Our dog is loving it here. I hobbled around for a nice walk, so glad I bought a hiking pole which apparently they sell as well. They really do seem to think of everything here! They have nice pizza restaurant that people rave about but I'm gluten free so none for me. The children's playground looks sweet and the sparkling pool looks very refreshing. They have pull through spots for the super huge RV's as well as back in slots for the little 24 ft we rented. Looks like camping slots, cabins, and yes I saw a Yurt. Overall a lovely spot with friendly people. I'd highly recommend it! I love it's a dog friendly camp! That's one of the main reasons we chose Durango! We loves our site! FYI There is not free coffee nor an herb garden that someone posted. Lastly James Ranch Harvest Grill and Greens is literally 5 min from this location. They have bbq and dog friendly area which we plan to eat at on our last day and stock up on some meat and cheese at their little specialty market. We stopped at another restaurant in Durango which was really good but hard to park the rv and walked to the Albertsons which wasn't my favorite store but I was tired, it was close, and we were already parked. Yah! It's Monday nd we stoppes at The Harvest Grill just a few minutes away. Delicious! Next year when we return we'll stop on the way into the HOA and pick up out meat, cheeae, & eggs for the week. I even picked up doggie jerky treats and ice cream for on the road. read more

The facilities are up to date and kept very clean. The staff consistently provides excellent customer service and feels like home away from home. We always get a tent site and the pads are wood chips and level with plenty of space. Would highly recommend if you're ever in the area. read more

Very nice campground! Everything was extremely clean, there was hand soap in the bathrooms, and the staff was very friendly. There were lots of extra things to do- mostly for kids, but still fun. There were movies each night, a mini golf course ($1 per person per hour), and a heated pool. They have a pancake breakfast every morning (for a fee), have pizza every night (for a fee), and have freshly baked pie each night (also for a fee). The thing that won me over was the garden- this KOA has a free herb garden for guests to use, as well as free garden veggies periodically in the KOA office/store. The only negatives were that, as far as I could tell, there were no covered tent areas to rent, and the wifi was pretty slow and hard to connect to for us. Also, another reviewer mentioned that coffee is free with your mug- it's 75¢ a cup with your own mug, $1.50 without (but delicious and worth it). Overall I was thrilled with this KOA and would definitely stay again. read more

We recently stayed here for 2 nights. Everyone was super friendly and the campground was very nice. They have a pool, playground, miniature golf, dog run and outdoor movie area. If you bring your own cup there is free coffee in the morning which my husband said was delicious. The only reason for 4 stars is the noise from the road but I would still definitely recommend! read more

Of 17 days in Colorado this is the nicest, cleanest and friendliest campground we stayed at. The staff was super, sites were clean. Normal Colorado campground as far as limited space but this place has a nice set up as far as privacy. Trees and brush divide sites. I even noticed tent sites have small but not tacky fences between some for privacy. Will definitely stay hear again and again. read more

The managers and staff are awesome, always making sure you are taken care of and going the extra mile by making fun activities for the kids (like the rubber duck race) to having home made pizza and pies that can be delivered to your site or cabin. Campers, With the spread of the virus and our age we had cancelled our stay at Durango North KOA. Unfortunately, the owners have not responded to our request to have some of our refund of $67.00 a night returned to us (even with a 45 day notice). Shame on you for charging us for the full amount of our one night stay. Very un-American with everything that is happening, we all should understand and not take advantage of the situation. At this point, we have no reason to stay here in the future, there are so many other beautiful places in Colorado. I feel sorry for KOA's that are associated with owners who only have $$ on their mind and not the health of the traveler or their guest. Safe travel campers. read more

This place is amazing! We have stayed here 3 years in a row and every time the stay was great and the staff / owners are the best! They are so nice and always make you feel at home. This KOA has great amenities such as a pool, dog park, a cool cafe, excellent showers, pot and pan sink, and laundry facilities. We always stay in the cabins since we like to mix it up with remote camping as a place to do our laundry and take a break from living in a tent. Our dogs also love staying here and are welcome in tent sites and some of the cabins. Such a better choice than a budget motel! It is a short and easy drive to Durango. It is the best of both worlds. read more

Check in was fast and easy. A camp host followed you to the campsite and assisted in guiding you in. They did this for everyone. The grounds are quite and well maintained. They have pizza they deliver to your camp. We did not do that but our camp neighbors did. Convenient to town and grocery stores. Will definitely return. read more

Beautiful campground, clean & very quiet! I stayed 4 days and 3 nights in a cabin. What a wonderful experience. If you plan on visiting this KOA, you must go see the square-foot garden next to the office, just amazing. Also, try one of Jay's pizza's. The best thing this KOA has is the Staff! We greatly enjoyed our 2 night stay here. Our first night was on a big tent site and our 2nd night in one of the deluxe cabins, which we decided to move to after rain was predicted to come through. Both were excellent! We enjoyed the outdoor pancake breakfasts in the morning and our 2 kids loved the playground, mini golf course and the swimming pool. The bathrooms/showers were clean and neat. The office has a nice little store, pizza shop, and laundry facility. All around A+ and we would recommend and return. Thanks for the hospitality! read more

Really nice KOA. I arrived here on my motorcycle in the middle of a thunderstorm. Grabbed a cabin and was able to park my bike under the roof at the main building. In the morning, my starter died and the people here were mostly helpful in helping me figure out how I was going to get back on the road. The whole place was pretty clean, especially the bathrooms. Each shower has it's own little room off of the main hallway, which is cool. Only thing that was disappointing was that they didn't have any plywood squares for motorcycles, trailers, etc. I got spoiled by the KOAs that did have them - it's a very handy detail. read more

We usually don't stay in a campground like this because they usually aren't this nice so we had only reserved one night thinking that it would not be worth it. We were wrong. This place was great! We reserved their Lodge cabin which was small but very nice with the kids. This KOA is very clean and well taken care of. The kids loved the clean pool and breakfast at the Caboose. The owners and staff were all very nice and we can't wait to go back. The only negative would be the traffic noise if you were in a tent up near the highway but most campgrounds like this have some traffic noise. Don't let that stop you from staying here. This place is just great and we are already planning our next trip back to this KOA. read more

The best thing about Durango KOA is the PEOPLE who run the show. They are accommodating, friendly and very helpful. They cook pizza and have an incredible store, and fresh baked goods (pies, when we were there). We pulled into the KOA with reservations for a camp/tent site. These are clustered around the center area of the park, and some are scattered throughout the grounds. If you are tenting, plan to walk to rest rooms, as the sites aren't close in for that. The sites are floored with wood chips, no grass, and small. They use wood fencing to separate the sites, but you are really close to others, unlike some other KOAs. read more

This was our first RV experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed a total of 3 nights coming and going to UT, and both RV sites were great! Bathrooms/showers were great, the kids loved the miniature golf and pool, I liked the dish washing area (for those dishes that are hard to wash in a small RV sink), and who can beat $1.50 for decent coffee with unlimited refills. This KOA is the Chick-fil-A of camp-grounds! read more

Me and my husband have never been to a KOA and I was a little skeptical at first but the Durango KOA proved me very wrong. The campground is extremely clean and well kept, everything was in great condition and our cabin was great! Not only was the campsite good but the owners are awesome people. Carol was very gracious to us when our car broke down during the night and she and her staff let us stay as long as we needed the next day while our car was in the shop. We even left the key in our car by accident and they didn't have a problem with it they just asked us to return it as soon as possible. Great campsite and great owners!! This place is awesome. It's only 5 mins from town but you feel like you're up somewhere in the mountains and no town near by. Super friendly host, cabins are nice and comfy. Bath house super clean and kept up. Always something fun going on at night for you or family and kids. Plus rates are reasonable when hotels in Durango are not. read more

My wife and I and small dog stayed in a Kamping Kabin. Our cabin was clean and close to the restrooms. Their dog parks are fantastic! We had a great time and enjoyed our stay at this KOA in Durango. We stayed in a cabin here for two rainy nights and loved this place. Extremely kid friendly. Super nice staff. And very clean. We had a great time going to nightly movies and eating their fresh baked pies. The pancakes in the morning are excellent!! We really had fun here and will definitely go back! read more

This is the best KOA we have stayed in yet. We rented a cabin with a bathroom and it was as nice as any hotel - except we brought our own sleeping bags. The managers of this KOA are soooooo friendly and helpful. We loved staying here - the sites for RV's and tents were great looking too. read more

We are currently staying at the KOA Durango Campground and we have experienced nothing but friendliness and helpfulness. The staff is very accommodating. It is a large laid out campground but nicely divided up. We are staying at site 75 -- which is their premium site. It has a large wooden deck, chairs, tables and a nice fire pit. They offer breakfast, freshly made (and delivered) pizza and some down home sweets. There is a nice pool for family, a small putting green and outdoor movies. We are in a 38 foot motorhome, towing a vehicle. No problems maneuvering throughout the property. Definitely would recommend them. You are but a 10 - 15 minute drive to downtown Durango. read more
