    Horrible customer service…read more Unfortunately, I would never be able to recommend this company due to the way they treated me as a 4+ year customer. Long story as short as possible... I rented 2 dumpsters from RPE about 10 days ago. 1 at my current home and 1 at the Kennel we are remodeling. About a week ago, I scheduled a pickup & replace it with a bigger dumpster at the kennel for Friday (today) morning at 10 am. I hired 4 guys to be there this morning to assist in filling the new dumpster that was being dropped off. Cost - $200 Due to the fact that RPE was unable to pick up a day earlier, even though I called and asked 2 days prior to that but they said no, they'd be there at 10 am on Friday. So, for 2 days, we piled debris and trash outside of the full dumpster which is why I had 4 paid helpers there at 9:30 am this morning...in anticipation of the dumpster switch out at 10 am. 12:00 noon rolls around the full dumpster is still here. So, I call RPE because I only have the paid guys until 2:00 pm. Here's how it went (paraphrasing)... Me: "Hi, I was supposed have a dumpster picked up and switched out at 10 am this morning" RPE: "oh, the driver had a hiccup this morning and won't be there until this afternoon"...I thought at first she said he HAD the hiccups and that's why he was late but quickly realized I was being crazy. Me: "well, we had a 10 am appt. and I'm paying for a crew of guys to be here...can you narrow it down? Can he get here before 2 pm" RPE: "I don't know, we're very busy" Me: "seriously...I am paying for guys to be here cuz we made a 10 am appt. You don't even call the customer to tell them you won't be on time?" RPE: "well, no" Okay...so I deal with it, 2:00 pm rolls around...my guys have to leave and I'm left there alone to fill the 20-yard dumpster, by myself, if and when it arrives. Dumpster shows up just after 3:00 pm. The driver says he was told "anytime after 10 am"..which is NOT what was said when I made the reservation but okay, deal with it I will. So, I spend the next 2 hours filling the 20-yard dumpster by myself. When I'm done, I can see that the dumpster is full so I call RPE to have it picked up and swapped out again, right away. Mind you, I've now paid RPE about $1000 for the 3 dumpsters. Me: "Hi, you guys just swapped out my dumpster, 5 hours late for the time that was reserved, but it is what it is. The dumpster you just dropped off is now full and I need it swapped out ASAP so I can start filling another dumpster" RPE: "we can't be there until Wednesday next week" Me: "Seriously, I need it picked up by Tuesday morning the absolute latest (which is the day we start construction)...can't you guys help me out after you dropped the ball today" RPE: "sir, we're really busy and have big jobs to do early next week so we won't be able to swap it out for you until Weds." Me: "okay, you come Wednesday but do not bring me another dumpster...I'll find one myself before that. And why don't you cancel my account with RPE for weekly trash pick-up as well...this is really no way to treat a long-time loyal customer" RPE: "okay, would you like us to go to your house and get the trash buckets and the other dumpster too" Seriously? No effort to say, "sorry sir, we dropped the ball and would like to keep your business"...nothing. So I leave it at that, they will come Wednesday and they do not want me as a customer any longer. But, I still need a large dumpster, ASAP. I call Mumford Disposal in Saunderstown on a recommendation...... Me: "hi, I'd like to see how soon I could get a 20-yard dumpster delivered to Hopkinton RI" Mumford: "Is Monday morning at 9 am okay?" Me: "this Monday?" (thinking they must mean a week from Monday...after all, the company I pay thousands too and have been with for 4 years can't be here until 5 days from now...) Mumford: "Yes sir, this Monday - in 3 days" Me: "oh, that's great! And how much time do you need for notice to come to pick up the dumpster and trade it out for another once it's full" Mumford: "well, if you call by 10 am, we can usually come out that day...or the next day if you call after 10 but never more than a day" Me: "great...guess I should have called Mumford in the first place!" These guys are in Saunderstown...and can pick-up same day. RPE has it's yard in Charlestown, about 6 miles from our construction location and it takes them 5 days to do a swap-out for a multi-year loyal customer who just spent $1000? Wow, that's awful business in my book RPE...a real stinker...VERY customer-unfriendly!

I only talk to the office twice twice a year to pay the bills. They are always pleasant and efficient. The real quality comes with the trash guys themselves. My whole street has switched to RPE from Republic. They arrive on schedule and take anything you put out. They are clean ( if paper drops they go pick it up, there is never any mess left behind). Although I only pay for curbside pick up on windy or snow days they always move the barrels near to the house. This is real old fashion service.

    Recently, I had the main septic pipe between my house and septic tank get clogged. Upon…read moreinvestigation, it was determined that my excavator had deposited many large rocks directly above the pipe when he back filled my foundation (my house is only three years old), and the weight of those rocks caused the pipe to become narrowed and pitched in the wrong direction. I hired Paul Mumford to do the repair for me. Today, at 7:30am, he and his nephew arrived at my home to do the repair. I was present for the entire job. The repair took all of four hours and I can't adequately express my gratitude to Paul for an exceptional job. Both workers were professional and extremely respectful of my property. I was concerned that their digging machine was going to make ruts in my rain-soaked lawn. Paul used special mats which were placed below the tracks of the machine. There was absolutely no damage at all to my property. When they left, there was zero evidence that they were even there. They used the highest quality materials (e.g. schedule 40 pipe instead of the cheaper schedule 35 used my my excavator) and their workmanship was impeccable. After initially speaking with Paul for just five minutes, it was abundantly evident that he is a master at his craft. Tell-tale signs of his excellence were witnessed during the entire job (e.g. his use of a transit instead of a common level to assess the pitch of the drain line). The job was done as if it were Paul's own property - total respect was afforded. This company is an establishment of integrity and professionalism. Upon needing any further service, I will not look any further that Mumford Services and it would be wise for you to do the same.
