[[HIGHLIGHT]]On a previous appointment we had there, we walked in to a whole line of patients waiting to be checked in. Not only did the staff ignore the line, but they also seemed to not even prioritize the patients already at the location since every one of the staff was doing something else.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Again, another proof of them not respecting patients and their time. I highly recommend you avoid Western Dental & Orthodontics. If you want to be respected and want a professional office, this is NOT the place to go to. Unprofessional office that doesn't value patients' time. Genuinely, what's the purpose of scheduling an appointment if you have to wait 20+ minutes for your appointment to begin? And why do you make patients schedule a follow up appointment weeks later just to pick up a retainer and quickly try it on? I spent over 30minutes waiting in the lobby, then got called back to try on the retainer and confirm that it fit. I found it unnecessary and a waste of time out of the busy work day (especially because they never see you on time). In the future, it would be better to just let the patient come by and pick up the retainer, then schedule a follow up appt if it doesn't fit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also found it unprofessional when the dental assistant was getting ready to fit me for the retainer and said, "This is kind of awkward, but I need you to open your mouth for me."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]In what world is asking a dental patient to open their mouth an awkward request? October of 2025 my mother died after an infection she acquired from a botched bone graft surgery went septic. My mother met the standards set by the ADA for needing prophylactic antibiotics before oral surgery. She was given zero antibiotics before or after her surgery. I took my mother to the ER 24 hours after her botched procedure. She was septic and had an acute kidney injury. I blame Western Dental and the Doctors at the hospital point to Western Dental and her oral surgery site as the only avenue for her infection. Worst dental experience of my life -- unethical billing and wasted time I visited Western Dental's Gilroy office (780 1st St.) in December 2024 for a simple toothache. Before I had insurance, they proposed a treatment plan totaling over $11,000, recommending nearly every possible procedure they could think of. The toothache was ultimately resolved with a $15 antibiotic, never came back, and the tooth is still fine. That alone should tell you something. After later getting dental insurance, I returned because the office is conveniently located. That turned out to be a huge mistake. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Over three separate appointments, I showed up for deep-cleaning visits that they themselves scheduled, only to be told--twice--that they couldn't confirm my insurance coverage and that I'd need to reschedule.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This was after I explicitly asked them to verify coverage in advance so they wouldn't waste my time. I even called my insurer myself, confirmed deep cleaning was covered, and gave Western Dental the procedure codes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On the third visit, once they finally acknowledged my coverage, they presented a much higher bill by bundling unnecessary, non-covered add-ons, making the out-of-pocket cost around $1,000 per quadrant. When I asked for a standard deep cleaning without the extras, they refused. They also claimed it's "normal" to not tell patients pricing until they physically arrive--which conveniently prevents comparison shopping. To top it off, I later scheduled a regular cleaning instead. I confirmed the appointment, arrived on time, and was then told they refused to provide even a normal cleaning because a deep cleaning had previously been recommended--unless I agreed to their inflated pricing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This was the worst customer experience I've ever had in healthcare. The pattern here isn't incompetence--it feels like a deliberate business model: recommend excessive treatment, don't disclose pricing until the last minute, and pressure patients once they're already in the chair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you value transparency, ethics, or your time, go somewhere else. Worse case of over pricing I have ever experienced. I had an emergency and in terrible pain. I needed my upper wisdom tooth pulled asap. The office manager waited until 1:25p on Wednesday afternoon to tell me even with insurance it would cost over $3400 to extract the tooth, only appt available was next day Thursday morning at 7am and I needed someone to bring me because I required sedation. She also asked me to come in that day Wednesday to fill out paper. I declined and called back same day to tell them I would not need their services. Rip off. Never even applied the contract discount. Now, a week later, they call me to collect for missing an appt which was never confirmed. My tooth was easily pulled, in office, routine numbing in less than 30 minutes by a Morgan hill dentist for $940.00. They tried to take advantage of someone in pain. Shame on the office manager. I have filed a complaint with my insurance. Buyer beware. read more

ZERO STARS! This office is a scam! They are all about trying to squeeze money out of you, to have you pay for services that your insurance already covers. Western dental tried to scam my mother in law into paying $7,000 for top teeth implants, acting like that was her only option. When she asked about dentures, they told her she would have to pay out of pocket for that as well because her insurance "doesn't cover it." We double check with the insurance, come to find out they actually do cover it. They just wanted her to pay out of pocket for it because she didn't fall so easily for the $7,000 implants. Once they realized she was not going to go the route of implants, it was no longer easy for her to get appointments or be seen there. Go figure. read more

I am a single mother of 3 kids, so when I make appointments I have to plan accordingly. They would call the evening before and cancelled. I even went there and they told me my insurance was approved. Their website says you can schedule an appointment and provide insurance info upon arrival, which is standard for doctors and dental offices. I scheduled a checkup for today at noon, and when I went to check in, they told me my appointment is Wednesday at 4 pm. I definitely did not schedule an appointment for that time because I work every week at that time. Based on a phone call I received saying they can't see me without insurance info (which it is normal to provide upon checking in for an appointment!) I am assuming they rescheduled it, however I was not told my appointment is being moved. I scheduled this appointment because of bad tooth pain so I'm pretty annoyed. Worst Western dental avoid coming here. My husband went in for a cleaning and had an appointment at 3pm.. they did not see him until almost 5pm. The front desk was extremely rude. He asked about the procedure and was told "you've gotten teeth taken out before you know what it's like". He is also pretty anxious about the dentist and the staff was making comments regarding his obvious anxiety besides the fact that they kept chatting away while patients were waiting. I am beyond frustrated with the appalling customer service and ineptitude at Western Dental in Gilroy, California. My mother WAS a patient at this location and was told that she needed a more specialized office due to her health issues and urgent dental work. They assured us they would contact her insurance company to get a referral for specialized care, but they failed to follow through. After I found a suitable office with the help of her insurance company and requested Western Dental to send the referral and paperwork, they refused and insisted someone had to come in to sign the paperwork. It's 2024, and I regularly sign legal documents on my phone, but a dental office can't accommodate their patients for something as simple as forwarding documents related to a referral. When informed that I couldn't come in because I was out of state, the rude and inept person on the phone said I would have to sign the paperwork when I was back in California, as I am now back home in Las Vegas. This is unacceptable, especially since my mother has been in pain while waiting for these fools to do their jobs. Their incompetence is only serving to prolong her pain and suffering. Not only have I changed my mother's primary dentist, but I will never use Western Dental again because of their poor customer service. Even their corporate customer service was unhelpful. When I tried to get them to resolve the issue, they transferred me back to the office of ineptitude, where I was put on terminal hold for the second time, under the guise that I was holding for the office manager, who was purportedly so busy that she couldn't take a call in over half an hour before the call was abruptly ended with a recording stating, "there is no one to take your call." Avoid Western Dental at all costs. They don't care about their patients, their policies are antiquated, and their customer service is atrocious. read more

I scheduled an appt online for January 16th turns out they didn't have me on their calendar or an ortho on site, even though I called that same morning and was transfered to their 24hr service and they confirmed my appt. I thought fine I can just reschedule...and the nice lady at the counter said she would schedule me for today Wednesday at 12 i told her I would be in on my lunch and she said no worries we will get you in and out in 30 min. I arrived at 12:00 exactly and saw the LONG line there was at least 4 people waiting outisde the building and another 7 inside. I came here as a new patient to get a cleaning. Dr Ross was very nice and friendly. He was very caring and attentive and explained the treatment I was receiving. Blanca who is the office manager is very understanding and makes sure my child gets seen in a timely manner. She is very knowledgeable about the products and services her office has to offer, and she definitely put me at ease during the treatment process. It had been many years since I had been to the dentist. Simply because of the anxiety gives me. So going back and finding out I needed quite a bit of dental work I was so stressed out. The front desk were all so nice and worked with me to make sure everything was covered with my insurance. Dr. NGO and his assistant Adriana have been absolutely amazing. They made me feel so comfortable. The doctor has a gentle hand I barely even feel the Novocain and that's always been something that starts off the experience stressfully. I felt like they took their time and did a good job and only did what was necessary. I had a tooth that possibly needed a root canal but he was able to do a filling on. I would highly recommend this doctor and assistant. I've almost completed all of my dental care and could not be more happy read more
