Got in and out in a reasonable amount of time. The assistant took notes and asked about current meds and lifestyle stuff. The doctor was calm and looked through my history before chatting with me. It didn't feel rushed but also wasn't drawn out. They offered a few tips to manage things better and made sure I had a chance to ask questions. Not bad at all. read more

After 20 years with my dentist I had to change Dentist due to being new to Medicare. The office is located in an area with some questionable individuals walking around the parking lot. The staff greeted me - friendly. They were very nice, I had x-rays. After the doctor briefly examine my teeth, she said I would have to have a special procedure to clean my teeth and that I would have to visit the dentist more than twice a year, and she had a proposal for me to sign. It seems like it was set up when her assistant showed up with paperwork without the Doctor calling her in and informing her about the examination. I told her I just wanted my teeth cleaned and if she wanted to send me literature by email to review, I would discuss with her after I was well informed . She continued to say she could not clean my teeth due to a standard of care and refused to clean my teeth. I felt like she was up selling because I was on Medicare. I would not recommend going to her. I felt pressured and uncomfortable so I left. I've also reported her to Delta Dental. read more

Do not go to this place !! I had a root canal and crown done here, the tooth fell off a month later from eating chicken. They couldn't get me an appointment for a few days and when I came in she insisted the tooth fell weeks ago because of how overgrown my gums were. Not true, so she had to CUT my gums all around to try to fit a new tooth. Then when she put the new one on she pressed extremely hard on my mouth in which I felt pain for weeks after. She then told me after I'll never be able to eat anything hard on that tooth or it'll break which I was confused on what's the point in having this procedure done if I can't barely eat on it? My tooth/gums were sensitive and never felt the same after having it done. I paid $2400 out of pocket and that was the price with insurance only for it to last 2 YEARS. It got infected and I had to pay an additional $900 for an oral surgeon to put me under and remove the tooth. I couldn't even afford an implant because of how much money I've already spent on this one tooth. I've never had such bad dental care, terrible quality and an overall unkind experience. Please save yourself the money and time and go somewhere else ! read more

I really wanted to like this place. I just moved to the area and was due for my 6 month cleaning.The staff and dentist were so nice. X-rays were taken and the dentist sees you first. (Which normally you get the hygienist first? ) But then... She recommended a deep cleaning and Invisalign. Which would be something to consider in the future. But because I didn't agree to the plan today ($4,500 estimated) I couldn't get a regular cleaning because "the dr didn't recommend it" So I left with no cleaning :( and now need to find a new dentist read more

The staff at Gilroy Plaza Dental are incredible. My teeth have always been something I'm not happy with or proud of, and contribute to a serious decline in my mental health as I know they do for many others. I always feel so comfortable being in this office. The women here are so kind and empathetic and make an environment that I WANT to come back to. Previous offices have made me feel more upset than I already do about my teeth and I can't say enough how much it means to me that when I come here I am always met with compassion and kindness. It was my firs visit and I ABSOLUTELY loved the service was provided for my 2 year old and 8 year old sons. The dentist was Informative, knowledgeable, easy to follow, and only recommends what you ACTUALLY need. I had a hard time finding someone who takes Delta care USA and this office takes it! No one likes dental work, but the Dr. and crew at Gilroy Plaza Dental make those appointments less of a pain. I had postponed an implant because it required so many steps but those were made easy and not as painful as I anticipated with Dr. Purewal. They work well and the staff is nice; however, BE AWARE of what they charge you. The dentist office was over charging me for items during the past 3 years (antimicrobial solution for prophylaxis $75-$150 that I was not authorizing), when I asked them to please not use this and charge me for it anymore, Dr. Purewal told me she had to charge me for prophylaxis anyways "because my insurance did not pay for that" which was not true. I was only going there for annual check up and basic cleaning. Thankfully my insurance was very professional and reimbursed me for everything I was not supposed to pay. I Got Invisaligns last November I could not be happier it was a fast process, and easy if you are committed I just got my retainers now. SCAM, they make up problems for your teeth to go after your money, ensuring they suggest procedures that your insurance CANNOT cover. The last review is TRUE! Do not go to this dentist, the 4-5 star reviews are FAKE. I had a $1,200 bill which I was convinced I needed to stay because my teeth were in horrible condition. I don't understand the negative reviews. People don't tend to leave a review if something is good or as expected, but they are quick to review if there's a bad experience, however a lot of these issues are regarding insurance, that's up to the patient to research before choosing a dentist. I personally found my forever Dentist at Gilroy Plaza Dental. I don't have the strongest teeth, have had braces twice, a lot of dental work as a child and developed anxiety over seeing the dentist. Seeing Dr. Purewal and her friendly and caring staff has not only reduced my anxiety but makes me look forward to my appts to keep my teeth healthier. I love my smile and I've had less issues as an adult thanks to Gilroy Plaza Dental. I've also got my husband to go here too after having another family dentist for over 10 years. read more

I am in the process of filing a grievance against this office. The dental hygienist charged me for a procedure that was not done. The receptionist was rude. After trying out a couple of dentists in the Morgan Hill/Gilroy area over the last year or so, I desperately needed a new dentist. I was referred to Gilroy Plaza Dental by some work colleagues, and it was definitely the correct move! Dr. Purewal is an amazing dentist, and she actually took the time to make sure all of my questions and concerns were answered fully. Her staff was also extremely friendly & attentive and helped me out quickly with all the logistics of dentist visits (scheduling, payments, etc). The vibe of this office was also very family-oriented and homely and I felt at ease during the entire visit. I've had a recurring earache the past few years, and have gone to see numerous providers, including my primary physician and eventually an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist to try to figure out what the problem might be. But no luck. Throughout this entire ordeal, where I was experiencing sharp pains so intense that I had difficulty sleeping some nights, it never occurred to me that the problem might be tooth-related. This was especially unhelped by the fact that my previous dentist (who I will not being going back to) insisted it wasn't. I went to see Dr. Purewal from the recommendation of a friend soon after, and on the same day, she not only properly diagnosed the issue, but resolved it. I'm so glad I found this place, I had to have a crown replaced and I dreaded the work. I felt no pain and the dentist treated me with kid gloves. The staff was excellent and very attentive to every need. My temporary fell off and I called at 10:30 pm to leave a message and a real person answered the phone! Dr. Purewal is the best dentist I've ever seen over these many years and I have seen quite a few. She spent a good deal of time dealing with preparing a tooth for a crown and custom made the temporary rather than getting one out of a box in the back room to insure a lasting fit. She explains everything she is doing and checks often for any signs of pain or discomfort. She is pleasant and approachable and her expertise is evident. The front desk person is responsive and knowledgeable as are the dental assistants. I even received a call the day after my initial procedure to make sure everything was fine. The dentist works mostly in his Berkeley office and is only in the Gilroy one on Tuesdays and every other Wednesdays. His dental assistant is there the rest of the week, doing cleanings and booking appointments. I like this office, but do to scheduling conflicts, I'm going to look for something closer to home. read more

Dr Purewal is truly an amazing dentist! I had the same dentist for over 30 years and recently had a change in my dental insurance so needed to choose a different dentist. Needless to say I was a bit nervous, not knowing what to expect. But I was so pleasantly surprised! Dr Purewal performed several different dental procedures on me and I never felt a bit of pain. She is very gentle, patient, and great at explaining what to expect. When administering novocaine injection there was no pain, I felt no pain during the work, and by the time I got home the novocaine had worn off so no spilled soup down my chin! Her staff are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable, always with smiles on their faces. Best dental practice ever! read more

I went in for a simple teeth cleaning which was supposed to be covered by my insurance. I had never been to the Gilroy Dental Plaza before. It is located in a strip mall so I was a little concerned. Dr. Purewal suggested composite work on my teeth totaling $2076.00 I told her I probably would not have it done there and she got irate. She called me rude three different times (her actual words) for wanting my teeth cleaned but not letting her do the $2076.00 procedure. She asked me to leave and I was not to have any of my family members come to her practice. I was shocked. My insurance policy never mentioned I had to have all my work done by the person who cleans my teeth. Having someone do cosmetic work on my teeth is not something I let just anyone do. I never got my teeth cleaned and she still charged me the $10 office visit co-pay. I will be filing a grievance with my insurance company. read more

I'd like to begin by saying I've never liked going to the dentist especially after having bad experiences in the past. As soon as l walked into this office I felt very comfortable with the staff and the office itself feels inviting. Dr. Purewal was very patient with me and was even able to do all of my treatment on the same day (which is great because it saves me from multiple appointments).I will now even be starting Invisalign treatment here. Doctor was super nice she explained everything to me but we did not talked about prices, " office manager" Mayra l believe her name is went to me saying I needed a crown and price will be $800 that's all she said I told can you give me make me a treatment plan so she did I told I will call her back I needed to see why was to much if had to check with my insurance because she gave me a price for crown and anther for lab fee I called my insurance they told me the my copy is only the crown not lab fee bc is included already so I call her and she told me again oh yes the code is for lab fee and I told her but I called my insurance they told me I should not pay for lab fee then she told oh but is bc is an upgrade crown so I told why u never asked me if I wanted to do an update she is like oh bc we don't work w other material but i told her but u never explained that to me she didn't know what to say! All am saying is be carful if you have insurance call them to make sure that's your copayment because obviously she wants to charge me something that I'm probably not getting. I recently switched to Gilroy Plaza Dental with a change in my insurance. The staff is friendly and efficient. Dr. Purewal is knowledgeable and kind. I have been in her office twice since the Covid Shelter in place orders. She has implemented rigorous safety measures that are going beyond what I have seen in other dental offices that I've been in due to a need for a specialist; things like covering the surfaces on the patient seat and flat services provided for personal items, as well as the pens used by patients covered in a sleeve and are not reused. When entering the office, patients are immediately instructed to use hand sanitizer and temperatures taken. Any questions that can be answered by phone or email are handled remotely rather than exposing staff and patients further by artificially requiring a trip into the office. This may seem like a given but in another office it was not the case. It's this compare and contrast with another office that has really highlighted the care and concern she has for patient care. read more
