Went by several times on weekends (Saturday and Sunday early afternoon about 1-2 PM) that they are supposed to be open by 11:00 but three different occasions the were closed due to private parties! Will not try anymore. Too many other places to try and enjoy instead of wasting my time going up to find it closed. read more

Just had a great meal and awesome tour at the newly reopened Western Hotel. We sat in the dinning room in front of a beautiful hearth with a warm fire on the first day of April. The building is being carefully restored (there's lots of work to do), clearly a labor of love. It may not return to it's 1850s glory really soon but part of the allure of Callicoon and this area (we're from Philly and North Branch, is that it isn't overly refined and it's shabby retro shabby chic (yes two shabbys). Not that the Western is shabby it's not. Our meal was excellent and well rounded, we had steak frites, catfish, and chili and an amazing quinoa grain dish, warm with roasted and varied veggies in just the right proportions, with a beet puree and tahini sauce (OK so I'm not a restaurant critic and I didn't pay close attention because that's not what hanging in the Catskills is all about it's just about hanging and chilling, eating well, checking out the shops, and flea markets, farmers markets and most importantly living close with nature.) The kids were happy with the mac & cheese and steak which I was happy with too. We asked for a tour by Irene and she showed us the ballroom and some rooms. Really incredible space. Quaint but clean. Everytime we've stayed there we've been surprised. Joe the owner is a bit of a talker, in fact if he knows so much that I'm surprised he hasn't won the lottery. But that's neither here nor there. He keeps the place clean and authentic. Reminds of us Gunsmoke. The dining room has pretty decent food, although very pricey and since he's lost his liquor license I'd say your best bet is to cross the street and head for Matthews. But in terms of price, view, friendliness and a wonderful stay you can't beat the Western Hotel. We first stayed at nasty Villa Aroma and HATED IT but now every time we are in town its the WEstern Hotel. read more

I love it here! Come for the bar, stay for the food. The cocktails are amazing: tasty, creative, and fun. Definitely try one of their specialty drinks. Or you can also get good beers on tap. The menu is diverse and features local ingredients. Don't miss the burger- it's topped with a fried egg, Gruyere cheese, pickled onions, and lettuce and tomato. Visited the Western on a Saturday night before going to Bethel Woods for a concert. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by the bartender behind their classic bar. Staff immediately seated us and took our drink orders. we opted for the mojito and the margarita. Both were fantastic and must try's! For the entrees we had the hangar steak, pork schnitzel and chicken. The menu was designed by a local chef, Henning, and all of the entrees were awesome! Finally we had the peach cobbler and sundae for dessert and we were floored at how good they were!!! Most of the food was clearly locally sourced and very fresh. Desserts were made on premise. Service was spot on and very attentive with the servers working as a team. Great experience and we can't wait to go back! read more

Ate here last weekend and was pleasantly surprised to discover that they have a new chef! Food was excellent (I had the burger and my girlfriend had the trout). They have a stellar cocktail program with a great bartender - if you're a negroni fan, try the Callicoon Sunrise. Awful. We made reservations 6 months in advance for a specific room at a specific rate. Neither the room nor the rate was honored. There is absolutely no check-in process upon arrival, but instead you may be greeted by an angry, unfriendly bartender in the Tap Room below. After waiting for quite a while to be helped, we were informed that the room we had reserved was not available (because it had been given to another guest), and we were walked outside to another decaying building next door which was quaintly referred to as "the annex." We were given a tiny corner room with no TV, terry-cloth robes, hairdryer, iron, or even a chair to sit in. I had fun imagining that I was being grossly overcharged to stay in some 19th-century brothel (that may or may not be haunted!) Ha! The best part of it all is that I got to spend a morning on the phone with my bank today because The Western charged me TWICE for my stay. It is a cute little town on the Delaware surrounded by gorgeous countryside. Just stay somewhere else! read more

Irene the owner is fantastic. She has updated the rooms but has kept the Callicoon charm with attention to every detail. We have stayed at the hotel three times and each room is unique and inviting. The staff is warm and welcoming and have that local knowledge if you want to explore. The restaurant is also delicious with a good beer selection. Burgers and schnitzel are a must. read more

My husband and I were running late on Friday 8-11-17, we were going to the movies and wanted dinner before we went. We didn't get to your establishment until 7pm. The movie was starting at 7:30. We knew it would be close but we mentioned to the waitress our plans. She was able to get our order in quickly and serve us. We only missed a few minutes of the beginning of the movie. Plus dinner was delicious. We will definitely be back to try more of your menu. read more

We entered this newly renovated hotel built in 1852 with the greatest of expectations. Unfortunately the restaurant did not live up to them. The server put us outside on the nice patio then forgot about us. 15 minutes later I re-entered the inside restaurant and asked if we were to be waited on. We finally were able to give them our drink order, food arrived later. The wine, here in the Catskill mountains was very pricey, my Cabernet was $11 for an inferior tasting brand. My hanger steak was chewy but my wife's Berkshire pork was very good. With the exception of the wine the pricing was reasonable. I don't know if we'll try it again...maybe so since it was so new. read more

very disappointed with the western supper club & inn. the photos & posts on facebook & their website are very deceiving - the food, bar, restaurant - look nothing like the photos or how whoever is in charge of their social media sound. the drinks were weak & they didn't have the first 3 'signature' cocktails I tried to order. my friend ordered 4 different beers before finding the one they did have in stock. there was barely anyone there but we had to wait for a table - & when I say barely anyone, there was 2 other tables there - 8 people total. the food was not good & the service was barely there. very dingy on the inside too - felt like it needed a good scrubbing. will not go back & do not recommend. read more
