After doing business with your company for 20 years, I would like to explain why you are losing us as a customer. 1) Our property is a four bedroom 2 1/2 bathroom. On December 25, our home caught on fire. We were moved into a hotel room with 2 beds. Initially, the pullout sofa bed was not hurting anyone's back; however, over time the pullout sofa bed became unbearable leaving marks on my mother's skin the next day. My mother start sleeping on the floor at the age of 68 years old. Steven and Alex failed to provide equal displacement. 2) Two checks ($13,722 was one of the checks) were mailed on the SAME day, but in DIFFERENT envelopes. I am 100% certain this check was not mailed out which cause a lot of problems. Alex tried to convince us maybe some stole the check from our mail box. Our neighborhood mail box is brand new, and no one has broken into our neighborhood mail boxes in over 4 years. Our neighborhood mailboxes are monitored with a camera and I have footage of this on my photo and IPads. I believe the two checks could have been mailed together because I did get the other check which was mailed on the same day as $13,722. As a results, several people got paid extremely late and this was financial stressful on us. 3) A Patriot Environmental Lab came out to our home and did chemical testing on our home, and a 17 page result from the lab was given to us. After this forensic testing was done Steven and Alex called us on a 3 way line stating Patriot Environmental Lab made a MISTAKE, and Blue Sky Environmental needed to redo the samples. Blue Sky employee walk around the house and NO testing was done. We have requested documentation which stated Patriot Environmental Lab test was done incorrectly, Alex and Steven never gave us these documents. The solely purpose of Blue Sky Environmental was to fabricate his none-lab report without any scientific facts. The man from Blue Sky Environmental was hired as a sham by Western Mutual Insurance. 4) No clothing inventory was ever conducted. Alex confirmed this in writing via email after I explained my cameras and the listing of items were far from the truth. A wedding dress, vail, mother of the bride dress, stuff animals, 50 tennis shoes, coat suites, leather jackets, bedding, winter jackets, winter boots, snow boots etc were NOT on the list. Steven, Alex and Signal Restoration falsified a clothing listed, signed off on falsified documents and paid us. The clothing list was way below the amount of clothing we owned. In a conversation with Steven he even went more in details fabricating a person who conducted the inventory and date the clothing inventory was done. I then told him cameras from Ring Company do NOT lie. 5) In several verbal and written communications, we requested for Signal Restoration NOT to conduct business on our account. Steven and Alex continued allowing Cory the owner of Signal Restoration to evaluated discoveries, and write reports on concerning our account. We the property owner NEVER hired, agreed or signed any documentation to do business with Signal Restoration Company. 6) Our property/clothing/washable items were removed from our home WITHOUT our authorization. Per the Ring camera, our properties were moved out our home, and was returned. Bags of clothing were taken to an off site location and washed. Bags and bags of laundry were returned back to our home. 7) Parts of the home had electricity and other parts of the home did not. Based on this, we had electrical extensions running across the house. Signal Restorations pulled out the extension cords out the wall. As a result, a full refrigerator worth of food and drinks needed to be thrown out. 8) It is medically documented an asthmatic patient lives in our home. The mattresses had ashes on them. Blue Sky recommended to steam the mattresses and wipe down the walls of the home. 9) Blue Sky stated verbally the fire sprinklers were not working because the fire sprinklers should have come on. Per the fire inspection, the fire sprinklers were working. 10) Several 5 gallon buckets of water were used to out the fire which resulted in water on the floor. Signal Restoration did nothing concerning the sitting water on the floor. We cleaned it up. Alex, Steven and Blue Sky ignored this complaint. At present, we are waiting for the food reimbursement and for the claim to be close. We are moving to an insurance company who works with the laws of this country. We could list several more incidents which were either unethical or illegal which were done by the above parties. read more

When my husband Thomas and I decided to move and retire in Fresno County California in 2014 my brother Steve told me I should move my residence insurance to Western Mutual Insurance Company for a great rate and save money. We changed our Insurance policies to Western Mutual after we settled down California in 2015. We included the house we live in and our rental properties in Fresno. In the evening of Friday Jan 17, 2020 (this year) one of our tenants sent us a text message with photos of water inside and outside of the garage plus soaking wet carpet in one bedroom. We guessed it might be leaks from the roof because there was heavy rain the day before. I called Western Mutual Insurance Claim department and. I also called around to look for roofer, plumbers and repairmen but 9 out of 10 of them were either too busy to answer the phone or closed for the weekend. Of course I was very worried and anxious but Thomas was calm. I talked to Alex, the Claim Specialist at Western Mutual early on Saturday morning. He told me he has ordered their best inspector in town to come and evaluate the situation and our Adjuster John will contact us. I felt better at that moment but I forgot to ask him his last name. Gordon, the inspector, and his crew from 911 DRY arrived and did a good job in inspecting, investigating and finding the source of the problem. With our permission they cut open the ceiling and walls in the damaged bedroom. They found water shooting out of a pipe from the water heater. Gordon and his crew clean up the site neatly and they did not disturb our tenants. Fortunately, a plumber from Art Douglas came later that day and replaced the leaking pipe. Gordon also submitted the Evaluation and an Estimate Cost for the Repair to Western Mutual Insurance immediately. Special thanks to our Claim Adjuster John McLaughlin. He is very professional, patient and helpful. John explained our claim in detail and answered all questions we had. Our claim went on smoothly, swiftly and painless. I have managed rental properties for my family over 15 years. I also managed rental properties for my overseas clients who were either out of town or overseas when I was a licensed Real Estate Broker in Illinois. Helping my family and clients in Filing &/or following up with Claim to Insurance for properties damage & loss was part of my job. We went with Western Mutual to save a few bucks on comparable insurance on our home. Big mistake. In May, a large hailstorm wiped out our roof, window screens, exterior paint, pergola, and hundreds of feet of stained wooden fencing. I kept calling and calling, trying to figure out why our claim hadn't been paid when another claim on another house had been paid weeks early, had already been co-endorsed, and deposited. Finally, my claims rep (Carol Cleary, x5300) answered the phone -- which I'd soon learn is no small feat in itself. She said she hadn't mailed the check because she had questions about a completely separate and unrelated claim due to our home being burglarized. A week later, the check arrived. And it's not even enough to replace the roof, let alone touch any of the other damage. My contractor (who deals with insurance companies all over the country) was dumbfounded at the lowball claim payout. He said, "We can't fix anything here for that amount. Is this a joke?" For the past several weeks, I've been calling my claims rep (Carol Cleary, x5300) on an almost daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day, always leaving messages. In fairness, she did call back a couple times -- from a number that showed up as blocked on my cell phone, and a second time when I told her in advance I'd be in the mountains with no cell reception. On the separate burglary claim, I received a warning letter from Western Mutual that this claim was going to expire if I didn't return specific paperwork. So I've called and called with questions on how to fill it out, but I'm handcuffed because nobody will talk to me or call me back to answer. To date, 8/28/14, Western Mutual has done nothing to actually reach me in person and get my questions answered. I'm filing a complaint with DORA, but I feel other consumers should be forewarned. Don't get treated like garbage just to save a few dollars. I'm happy to amend this review when and if WM resolves this in a fair manner that compensates me for both my initial losses and my hours and hours of wasted time and misery trying to reach someone. read more

Just this past week, my daughter decided to back up her car into the driveway. Unfortunately, she went a little too far and backed right into the garage door causing minor damages to two sections of the garage door. I was not sure if home insurance would cover the damage. So, I decided to I call my current home insurance Western Mutual and informed them of the incident. Immediately the agent on the phone took all my information and said that she would get a representative from Western Mutual to contact me. The agent on the phone was very professional, courteous and was very supportive. What amazed me was that our conversation went efficiently and stress free which lasted only a few minutes. Within the hour after my conversation on the phone with the wonderful and courteous Western Mutual agent, I got a call from JoAnn Fastuca, Western Mutual's Resident Claim Representative. JoAnn was very, very courteous, prompt and professional. She informed me thoroughly of my coverage and even scheduled for an estimator to come by my house to provide their expertise service for replacement of the garage door. Everything was so stress free and I was well taken care of without asking. Talking about taking care of your client! I can't ask for any better service than that! All the folks at Western Mutual Insurance that I've dealt with were very professional, courteous and caring. All in all, JoAnn Fastuca and Western Mutual Insurance took care of my needs promptly and provided me with fund and resources to turn a bad incident into an improvement. The whole experience was awesomely amazing! I was completely satisfied! I recently purchased a home and needed to get hazard insurance. After looking online, I decided to give Western Mutual Insurance Company ("WM") a try due to their very competitive rates. After a co-worker had a horrible experience with a water damage claim from what I call one of the "designer" insurance carriers (in this case State Farm), I decided why pay all that extra money only to end up having your insurance company attempt to deny your claim at every possible turn. I was concerned with what seemed to be quite a few negative reviews for WM so I decided to call direct and ended up talking to the gentlemen who is now my agent, Sam Pina. Sam explained how those types of negative reviews typically come about and encouraged me to look up his company by way of a more official insurance reporting agency. He explained to me the company history and the reason they are able to offer rates much lower than others. After that conversation with Sam, I did decide to go with WM. I went over my current proposed policy with him from my car insurer, Wawanesa. Sam explained to me that for my property needs what they were proposing was way too much coverage. We walked through the policy together to get me to a point he believed would give me more than adequate coverage. I was so impressed with his service and the fact that he did not try to oversell me that I shared my experience with my mother. Long story short, she is also now a WM customer. Her WM policy was close to 50% less than her current insurer who, for no reason, was about to raise her policy premium. In the end, you never know what you have when it comes to insurance until you have to file a claim. Not having done that yet, I can't speak to that process, what I can speak to is the high level of customer service and what I believe to be honest feedback, I have got from agent Sam Pina. Additionally, I no longer see my initial review of 2/12/19 posted which I assume they wanted removed as it exposed their financial and management incompetence. No wonder their web site omits listing their management team as they must be ashamed to accept responsibility for running such a shame organization. Kelly boasted of their AM Best rating from ALFRED BEST out of New Jersey. Is this the best boast you have? Have you ever heard of Moody's or D&B, or real recognizable financial organizations, that you needed to get one off the truck from New Jersey. Laura was not even familiar with California Laws regarding Pool fencing as my property has two of the four legally acceptable solutions. Additionally, my pool is over 30 years old and is exempt from requiring any. This company going under numerous names, Western Mutual, Residence Mutual or other similar NEEDS TO BE AVOIDED AND NEVER TRUSTED. After 30 years of sending these people my money and not doing due diligence on who they really are, and their unethical culture, makes me the fool. NEVER AGAIN!!! February 2013, I had to file a claim with named insurance and I could not have been happier with the company. I live in a two-story house and the upstairs toilet caused complete water damage to my upper and lower levels. I was horrified when I walked into the house after being at work for 8 hours and the water was running for the entire time. My guest room downstairs looked like an indoor waterfall. I called the insurance's emergency line and an adjuster answered my call and calmed my nerves. He reassured me that first thing in the morning, he would bring a water restoration team and handle everything. Sure enough, the next morning, the company sent a team over and they began working at the house. The insurance handled everything so beautifully and I actually was left with brand new paint and brand new bathroom cabinets and flooring. They also were able to provide us with allowance to pay for a place to stay while the restoration company remodeled the house. I have been blessed by choosing this company. They've taken excellent take care of my home, and most importantly, my family. I recommend them to EVERYONE who is looking to either switch insurance companies or buying a brand new home. read more

DO NOT USE!!! After calling out Mr rooter due to a backed up line which caused my washer drain to overflow they found that the drain line running under my living room was broken. And since water came out of the washer drain they stated there was water damage and suggested they call out thunder & lightning due to water damage. Mr rooter proceeded to call thunder and asked them to come out. When they arrived the service guy from thunder assessed my home and stated "do you want new cabinets?" He stated he would be leaving fans but that they only need to actually be turned on when one of their guys or my home owners insurance comes out to inspect as the fans would not actually dry out anything. He then assured me that the insurance would pay for their services no matter what. When my crappy insurance company(western mutual insurance) denied the claim I then got stuck with an extremely high Mr rooter bill 5800$ and then thunder and lightning told me I owed them 2700$ for the machines that they told me not to even turn on or they would put a lien on my property. Do not do business with either of these companies and if u have western mutual insurance drop them!!!! read more

I don't normally write reviews unless my experience was very bad or very good. Western Mutual Residence Mutual was my home insurance company for the first four years I owned my home. Then I shopped around and switched to a lower rate company. Over the past eight years or so I have switched three times. Then in November 2018 I switched back to Western Mutual. Eight months later my home was destroyed by fire caused by a neighbor's kid with fireworks. Western Mutual, and in particular, my representative John McLaughlin, were so supportive that you would think I was a client for 50 years. Nine months later my home is rebuilt and everything was paid for, including temp housing, personal losses, and the entire structure. I was afraid they would cancel my policy after the large claim. But John Mc. told me the claim is not held against me as the fire wasn't my fault. In November 2019 my policy was renewed with no increase in premiums. I can't express how pleased I am with the company and the service they have provided. I will be their customer for life!!! read more

My wife and I have had Western Mutual Insurance for years, and we have been happy with our policy, recently we had a fire in our home which total our the garage inside and heat and smoke damage in laundry room and through out most of the house. The claims manager at Western Mutual Insurance that handled my claim Mr. John McLaughlin was very easy to work with, he kept me informed on each step of the claim, and was very helpful if I had any questions about the claim that I didn't understand. We had a pretty good contractor to work with in getting our home repaired, there was a long process doing the repairs, but this was not the problem with Western Mutual, but with the contractors. Things got done and John at Western Mutual was a great help through the process. I am glad we had our Insurance with Western Mutual and I would recommend Western Mutual to anyone that need to get their home Insured, very good company to have when you need them. Had a hot water pipe break under the slab of a rental in Hemet, Ca. and contacted Nick Frederick at, Residence Mutual Insurance Companies claim department. informed him of the problem and the fact that the home was a rental and tenants had informed me of the problem. Also told him that I had a plumber that I trusted and also a carpet and floor company working on repairs to avoid further damage. He thanked me and immediately took charge, assigning his people to inspect the problem and provide necessary information. He kept me informed both with telephone calls and emails of what was happening and what was found. Nick did an awesome job explaining the process and easing my mind.
