For appetizers, we got the crab cake, stuffed clams and fried oysters which were very large portions. We also got the clam chowder and lobster bisque. We stopped for a late lunch on a summer Saturday. It's mostly a takeout place, but there are a couple of tables. It's not the kind of place you go to for the ambiance! It's tucked away, sort of behind another building, and the parking lot is oddly shaped and crowded. We ordered at the window and the food was brought to the table in a reasonable amount of time. The fish and chips were pretty good. The lobster roll was just okay. The lobster was a little tough and the bun disintegrated in my hands. So, if you're going for the fish and chips, you're in luck. Words can't describe how good this place is. I've lived by here for five years and didn't stop in until today. I was blown away and can't wait to go back. I was very hungry and had the two piece fish and chips and am stuffed. The cod was extremely thick and juicy and the tartar sauce was like nothing I've had and the coleslaw was perfect. Small cosy place with few tables and a clean restroom. You walk in and order at the counter. Friendly people Tried the baby scallops (order by mistake meant to get the sea scallops) it's more tough, not much seasoning but fresh. Personally i don't like baby scallops so next time will skip. Then we ordered sea scallops again, didn't want to miss it, it's awesome fresh tender juicy, i like to add some hot sauce with it. Definitely recommend. New English clam chowder is good, not too much potatoes like some restaurants, pretty balanced portion of clam & potato. Decent quality. They forgot our fried oysters, we waited for 40mins...we should have walked up earlier but our table was full of food anyway. Was my gps destination to start our day trip. Didn't see the place right away bec. needed to drive towards the side/behind the row of stores upfront. Some parking. The place is small, with some seating inside. Menu prices are great, esp. for lunch (still with sides but smaller portion, ends at 3pm, even on weekends.). We ordered at the counter and some food was brought out, some we picked up. Cash only. Of the chowders and bisques, we liked the lobster bisque, though not as chunky as the other 2. The RI chowder is similar to the NE but no cream. Loved the Fish and chips (subbed with baked potato) which were not greasy. Lunch fried squid was only $9 with fries and coleslaw but sides for meals can be substituted. I liked the potato salad. Broiled sea scallops were tasty, still tender and buttery. The food is very good but they do not accept credit cards. It's cash only. In addition, I arrived after sunset. Even with GPS, there WAS NO SIGN that I saw that indicated I had arrived even though my GPS said I had Where was the place???? There is no sign, no that would be too easy. No Westfair Fish & Chips sign was visible from the road, so I ended up making 3 u-turns before I found the place, AND CALLING restaurant to ask where they actually had their business. It is tucked in the BACK of the mall strip people. In the back. Not VISIBLE from the road!!!! FUN!!!!! Since I rarely use cash anymore except for tips, unfortunately, I had ZERO cash on me!!!! So in order to PAY FOR MY CLAMS, after struggling to find the restaurant, I had to leave to find cash now. It took me another 40 minutes to get cash - not because I did not have money in the bank. You have to pull your hair out along with me listening to this first world stressor. So after realizing I HAD NO CASH ON Me, I rushed across the road (driving to the Stop'n'Shop across the street where a Westfair FIsh & Chips person told me there was an ATM). I parked, went inside the supermarket, finally locating the ATM, but my bank card WOULD NOT work. I thought there was a problem with the ATM because I knew I had plenty of cash in checking, well beyond a $30 meal. So after the ATM declined me, I assumed the ATM was broken, so I asked a cashier there if I could get cash back if I bought something. So I used the same debit card I had just used on what I assumed was a broken ATM (my card said it expires in 2027, btw), and bought some cereal, but, once again, my bank card was declined/did not go through. The cashier was looking at me as if I was a drug addict, when all I wanted was a CLAM DINNER!!! But I had the desperate of a deprived whole bellied clam lover ! I rushed out and drove down the highway to the Cumberland next door to the Stop'n'Shop mall parking. I knew Cumberland's have ATM's. Inside indeed, they had an ATM. Once again, my card was declined! WTF - so I called my bank waiting through various press 1, press 2s, etc all of that irritating gobbledy gook. I would have called my bank in Stop'n'Shop but stupid ME, had left my cell phone in the car when it happend in Stop'n'SHop. SOMEHOW, I can't remember my phone when I need it. So, in Cumberland, I dial my bank to find out WTF is going on. Finally I get through to an ACTUAL HUMAN (as my clams are sitting getting cold and the restaurant is closing in a few minutes) who said I was sent a newer card, which negated the card I was TRYING to use, and even though it says it expires in 2027, that it was not active and I had to find and use the active one. So, while I am on the phone with the bank, I pour all my disorganized mess of cards from my wallet onto the Cumberland floor, frantically searching for the newer bank debit card- finally BY SOME MIRACLE, I find it, and while on with the bank, I used that newer card, and finally, that card went through and I got the necessary money out to pay for my ONCE A YEAR WHOLE BELLIED CLAMS!!!!! I frantically gather all the cards from where I had tossed them on the floor back into my bag, rush back out to my car. Drive back to the Westfair Fish & Chips. By then, 40 minutes had elapsed as I untangled the mess of ATM snafus and traffic u-turns getting to Stop'n'Shop, then Cumberland, then back to the fish & chips place. By now, the clam place was closing within minutes, and I was close to a heart attack, OVER CLAMS. I paid, IN CASH, for the godddamned clams. The place closes at 8 pm and I finally sat down with my clams at 7:40 pm. I barely finished as the place was closing up. I basically had to inhale the clams to finish before they closed. Am I good for another year? Not quite. I paid a high stress price for those clams, as good as they were. I'll think twice about whether it is worth it to drive across a state border into New England next time I get the urge. I know one thing, no one could foresee it is one of the few places that doesn't accept credit cards, and because I ALWAYS use credit and rarely use cash anymore, except for tips, I didn't have any cash on me, nor did I have my newest debit card handy BECAUSE I AM NOT USING CASH. Even TIPS these days are mostly paid by credit. Fair warning, expect the unexpected. Great clams. read more

Best lobster roll EVER. I've never had a lobster roll with such large proportions of claw meat! Meat so tender and fresh. We also ordered the seafood soup. Beyond flavorful! Cream base didn't upset my stomach. Such a great soup. I ordered the swordfish I believe it was $17.99 and came with a baked potato. I got it blackened. That was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had in my life and I've eaten in a lot of seafood restaurants all around the country on the beach. That was top three. I highly recommend this place. Unfortunately, this place is just not the same as it used to be. During our last two visits we were served overcooked, inedible food, once with lobsters and the other time with scallops. Worst of all, they were completely indifferent. This is not a plane you go to for atmosphere. You go for (hopefully) good seafood. Steady stream of customers who were all greeted and treated well. We had fried oysters, fried shrimp, fish and chips, fries, onion rings, and baked clam. Coleslaw to accompany was very good. I am originally from New Hampshire and grew up eating fried whole belly clams and other delicious fried seafood. I have not been able to find a good place in Norwalk, where I work, to get some fresh fried seafood. This place brought me right back to my childhood. The seafood was fresh, the breading was light, and the staff was beyond friendly. This is the place if you want fried seafood just make sure you bring cash. Ever gone fishing? You try and try- then finally get a good catch? Well it's like when you're also looking for a good restaurant- you try and try then try some more and you finally get that good spot. That's Wetfair on Post Road in Westport. And you don't need to be by the seaside to enjoy damn great fish and everything else in between. I've had many fried fish pretenders, but our Cod and Tilapia meals were piping hot trays of joy, piled-up with crispy, perfectly done and battered fish on those flat and wide crunchy outside-soft inside fries. Steamers were mind-blowing, hubs enjoyed his New England Clam Chowder and I treaded lightly with a Lobster Bisque Cup. In retrospect, I should've gotten the bigger size- because that sh*t was good: thick- but not with an overly thick consistency, small lobster meat chunks- and seasoning? Jeeez! Plus 2 Stewart Sodas? $38+ change. Ca$h only. Space is small with two outdoor metal tables+ chairs and 4 well-spaced tables (I think) for inside eating. Our meals were done in about 10-15 flat after we ordered and service was friendly. This is fried fish comfort and other great tidbits in between. The clam chowder is fresh and impeccably seasoned to highlight the succulent sweetness of the clams. I've been a fan of Westfair for a few decades now. The seafood is always fresh & I'm never disappointed. They have a small dining area which is very casual ambiance. They do have some outdoor seating as well. They only accept cash so that's something to note. I typically order their fish & chips but with a baked potato instead of fries - amazing. I love malt vinegar on both. The sides that come with the meals - coleslaw, potato or macaroni salad - area also very tasty. They have a cooler with a variety of drinks for you to choose from. Really like this place, but they have never gotten our order right, which is really frustrating, especially for somewhere that during the pandemic, you can't really get a refund from since it's all cash and you're not dining in store. The last two times we came, we got charged $17+ for whole clams but actually received only strips which are significantly cheaper and the other time they forgot 2 items from our order. By the time we got home we were 20 min away and it didn't make sense do add another 40 min round trip for the correct order. The food itself is great, particularly all the fried stuff, but recommend checking your order before you leave. Stopped by here based on ratings and wanted to eat dinner quickly after being at the beach all day. Let's talk about finding the place. Passed by the place twice because its nestled in between other business that you can see from the main road. To reach the restaurant you go down what looks like a driveway. Once we arrived, there was parking in front of the building and on the side of building. Nothing fancy inside if you want to dine there. Just a few tables in the small dining area. Was really surprised that they do not take credit cards only cash. Found it odd that they did not take credit cards where most businesses are encouraging contactless purchasing. Anyways, When we asked the employee working at the counter she just said ohhh I dont know and that was that. Two of us ordered shrimp baskets and another ordered the shrimp dinner. Our baskets were okay but you cant really mess them up. But our friend who ordered the shrimp dinner had to return it. It was overcooked and burnt. When she went back to tell the person at the counter the food was burnt and dry they just looked at her. No sorry what else could I get for you. She asked for the fried shrimp basket instead. When we asked for condiments for our food, we were told oh they are in the fridge over there( pointing to a fridge near the front entrance). I'm sorry we bothered you by asking for ketchup and tartar sauce. Needless to say while we were there eating, they look like they have steady amount of customers coming in ordering food for take out. As a native New Englander I love a great small seafood place where you can get anything fried and sometimes cooked in other ways. I have been eating at Westfair for the last 15+ years. I love the fried fish, shrimp, clams etc. the chowders are always good as well. If you're looking for white table cloths - you'll have to somewhere else. Good fresh seafood is what you'll find here. The staff are nice, they cook your food to order so you may have to wait a few minutes but it will be hot when you sit at the table. Serendipity led me to find the fish & chips at Westfair, which (among other things on this journey) changed my life. The combination of simple perfectly-prepared seafood, coupled with impeccable hospitality that is unique to a family business, is pure magic. I was visiting Southport on business and ventured out onto Old Post Rd, where I came across this establishment by chance - tucked away behind a strip mall across the street from the Shop Rite (not sure of the name, but it's a purple building). Patrons consist, by far, of long-time regulars who graciously made polite conversation with me (an obvious out-of-towner, somewhat out of place and dining alone). I wanted to eat everything on the incredibly reasonably-priced daily menu... and nearly did! In addition to the 2-piece fish & chips (perfectly fried and so lightly crisp yet fluffy), I also had a 1/2 dozen oysters (plump, slightly briny, sweet and expertly shucked) and clam chowder (New England, of course)!
